So, that reward wasn't too shabby. I guess my first two were smaller, because I had only been mining for a few days. I will give it a month or two. Should be doubling my hash rate next week. Thanks for all of the posts, it's been very informational.
Hi there, Just got my S9 onto KanoPool last night and have been mining for about 9 hours. Is it normal to not see much action in the rewards/payment areas of the management site? Don't mind me, I'll be the first one to admit I'm a noob so just trying to extract some information that makes sense to me about what the miner is actually achieving. Any tips would be much appreciated - thanks!

It won't take that long to do and you will discover a gold mine of info about your question. This question has been asked and answered hundreds of times over the years and several times over the past couple of weeks. Step 2 - Wait 14 days so you will have reached your full 5Nd and have earned several blocks. If it doesn't all make sense by then, post your question here again.

With the PSU's included, wonder if they will be sold for $2500? Yeah the picture isn't correct - that's the 741 picture. The prototype A8 I saw in September included a PSU as part of the miner Thanks for the note, Kano. For the person questioning why go Avalon v. an S9...ask any of us whom have done extended (as in months) mining with both. I would venture to guess you would hear (1) reliability (the Avalons, in my experience, are significantly better designed & built), and (2) there are some of us whom have been around a long time who prefer to not support the Bitmain onslaught in any case. I agree, they just need to increase their availability. I keep checking on their US Distributor Website and the 741's are always sold out. Also a question for anybody on the Forum. Who has done business with Minerwarez and how would you rate their sales and support? Thanks in advance. MINE ON WITH KANO-SAN!!

So my site has been grabbing 5 minute detailed info for a few pools in my upcoming minergain site but dont have the info live yet. Eventually this data can use your real miner data to do "what if scenarios - even though luck is luck". So all this got me wondering so I thought I would share some real comparison info... So if you were with slush for December, here would be your btc per Th that your miners submitted.... Total: 0.003702629 per Th/s.
So if you have an S9 like me with 13.5Th/s, that is .0499854915 BTC for the month (assuming fully "vested" in the PPNLS). As I have mentioned before, the 5 blocks found on Kano (even with the current 8 day delay) is .04509834. If we got another block today, it would be roughly .054 BTC for the month. And if we picked off another one tomorrow, it would be roughly .063 BTC. So yes, there is a little more gambling here, but the potential upside is way more than the sites that give lots of blocks per day... And isn't that really why we are all in this "business" - gambling? That is exactly why I moved to Kano from Slush after just one month with them... I can afford a little electricity if needed, but with that said, my full power bill was paid by the 3rd of this month... I also purchase coins on the exchanges, and this is a much smaller investment per BTC - just slower. Anyway, just to give a little perspective for the newbies (me included).
So this block officially puts me at .05392541 for the month with one S9 (.00399447 per Th) which is .0002104 BTC / day / Th. That pushes Kano ahead of slush for the month by 7.31% and gives us around 4.5 days breathing room - meaning that if we find another block before 5 days we push the gain even further. Mine on and congrats koelby. When you say " For the Month" are you meaning December 1 til now or for the last 30 days? sorry - Dec 1 to now...

Previous ramp post of mine back when the ramp was 3 days: ... How it actually works, as opposed to how you see a 'ramp', is that your payouts are simply spread out over 5ND which is currently about 3 days. You get paid for each share you submit, over the 3 days after you submit the share. What this does is reduce the variance in your payouts. Something like this if you think of it as submitting a share (s) each block: s----+-----+-----+-----+-----+ s----+-----+-----+-----+-----+ s----+-----+-----+-----+-----+ s----+-----+-----+-----+-----+ s----+-----+-----+-----+-----+
If you consider the + to be the reward points when we find a block, the 5ND is simply the time it takes for the overlap of all '5' shares Of course you keep submitting shares, so the gap appearing at the bottom doesn't begin until you stop mining e.g.: s----+-----+-----+-----+-----+s----+-----+-----+-----+-----+ s----+-----+-----+-----+-----+s----+-----+-----+-----+-----+ s----+-----+-----+-----+-----+s----+-----+-----+-----+-----+ s----+-----+-----+-----+-----+s----+-----+-----+-----+-----+ s----+-----+-----+-----+-----+s----+-----+-----+-----+-----+
The height/number of '+'s is the relative reward. My simplified explanation was almost correct, but Kano's explanation is actually correct Why does no one answer this aspect.. What is 5Nd is 9,365,527,376,108.0 How does it relate to "time" as everyone refers to it as. I get it is 5x the current difficulty, but What does it represent. I understand that the payout is shifted over the 5 blocks for the current found block. Maybe I am thinking this is more complicated than what it is... Is it safe to say that if a block is found 1 per day at the exact same hour and minute, that the first block found is all paid out on the 5th day ( when the 5th block is found) and the day 2 block has only had 4 pays, and the third block found on the third day has 3 paid out? ***** And the variance comes in if the number of days is different between blocks say 2 then 3 or 7 days between each block but all different.? Still does not explain what the 9,365,527,376,108.0 number is. I know its referred to as 5nd, but what Units? How does the number itself relate to the way its calculated, or is everyone saying things like " oh 16 day 5nd is a very long time" and just meaning, Man that took 16 days to find 5 blocks ?

Hey I hate it when i get to see most of the blocks been mined by Chinese pools, we need to team up and bring more hash rate and start cracking them blocks too. Come on guys bring those miners to Kano and let's show them what we can do.

Looking at it the shipping doubled as well used to be around 45$ per piece now it's around 80$, I would also believe that the import charge for customs is going to go up as well.

Reasons not to buy S9s: 1 - Each one requires it's own network connection. That means more cable, more addresses, and more maintenance. 2 - Import fees. 3 - Low quality hardware. May be more efficient, but your efficiency goes down the tube if it arrives DOA, and dies part way through. 4 - Their warranty process sucks. You have to send to China, and then they may declare it's not their fault. 5 - It's Bitmain. M

11TH/s vs. 13.5TH/s If Canaan comes out with a good price point it could really upset the miner hardware world since buttmain came out with the ridiculously overpriced same unit. $201 per TH/s is insane. Come on Canaan make your move!

So, what's the 5Nd value?
The current Bitcoin network value for Nd is 1,873,105,475,221.6 and thus 5Nd is 9,365,527,376,108.0
Yes 5Nd is a mathematical expression which is (5 X Network difficulty). That is how long shifts are open. That way it is extremely unlikely that a share will go through the entire 5Nd and not get paid, possible but unlikely. I guess my brain cannot connect the terms used like " This is how long shifts are open" 9,365,527,376,108 ? WHat? Seconds, Hours minutes? The reference everyone makes is to "time" on how long they are open, but I cannot seem to make this compute in my head. so 9,365,527,376,108 is not seconds or minutes. Is it 9,365,527,376,108 shares? I know how the number itself is derived ie 5 x Network difficulty, But what units is it? Shares seems to be the only reasonable unit this can be. Uh, yes, it's shares. Current difficulty is the number of shares it takes to find a block at 100% Luck.

Why does no one answer this aspect.. What is 5Nd is 9,365,527,376,108.0 How does it relate to "time" as everyone refers to it as.
It relates to time in how long it takes to find that many shares. The higher the hash rate the less time it takes and the lower the hash rate it takes more time. It is variable. So the open shifts are 5 times 9,365,527,376,108 for this difficulty period. How long a period of time that is depends on the pools hash rate.
