Indeed. Contrary to popular belief I'm capable of such things.

I've just not compiled for production in a good while and need to re-install my build environment and bring myself back up to speed etc.,

My time and resources have been drained for a number of years now. Hoping to put things right soon enough here.

Still, we need a more active community and more interest in development (I may decide to dive deep once a few things are out of the way and my own situation becomes more stable).

Glad your still around BitcoinFX,

There is work on upgrading the Private Keys, as it is the whole core of gapcoin/bitcoin.  But there is a lot of code circle jerk within the code/database.

Although, Gapcoin is upgraded, with a highly reliable Linux System, it is simplified the whole process a lot.  It is probably not possible to solve the Private Key issue without experts help. 

I have a lot of notes if you are interested.  But I am still unsure, if it requires needed to keep the old key software in the code as a backup to implement the change gradually. 

It is likely 1 problem, as trying to implement a removal of the old private keys with 571 Bit EC keys has issues.

But all the code stashes have not probably been located yet, that deal with Private Key handling as that is the entire essence of the thing.


I think nothing else matters at this point other than advancing work to upgrade the Private Key system.  And if anyone can anon do it PM me and I will give you the notes that way.   

 
Upgrading the Private Keys now will give a buffer of about 5 years in which to further focus effort and time to upgrading to a full 64 Bit Sha-512 Gapcoin Code.  Which is the whole focus for the Science.  How many NASA or other Real Science projects does anyone think really run 32 bit code?  Probably NONE. 

PrimeGaps are also probably not as important as we may think, as the Governments of the world probably have had for years and years their own private databases they use to break encryption with. 

But, I think it is paramount importance for Citizens to have open-source database to crack encryption in the future for G.A.P's (Government Accountability Project). 

I suspect too many nefarious government actors dump a lot of their evil upon Tor and RSA encryption.  And if I am right, it will be simple to go back and crack Tor and lots of other VPN's to find the government actors leading around the merry bands over the cliff to their merry little tunes.

Tried to compil from source and failed. Used the source on Gitlab and Github both are falling to build. Using Ubuntu 20.04 LTS.

The code seems to need a review, and you guys dev env should get updated. Also provide static linked binaries.

Work is in progress and yes we still have a lot to do to bring this project up-to-date.

Gapcoin will compile and run on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS just fine.

The Gitlab repo. is not yet a 'trusted' source for the project!

However, could you clarify if your compile issue was related only to the newer boost libraries?

All developers are of course welcome to get involved and contribute to the Gapcoin project.

@BayAreaCoins - I'm sure you have had time to checkout Gapcoin some more now and I think you will agree it is a great altcoin for any Bitcoin newbies!

- Faster transaction confirmation times than Bitcoin
- Useful Bitcoin based PoW
- Solid economic principals
- In-wallet mining like original BTC
- Gapcoin addresses start with a 'G', so no confusion with addresses (i.e. BCH and BSV forks *cough*).

Based on coin supply and useful PoW (development and peer review pending), Gapcoin is overall a better and more useful cryptocurrency than say Litecoin IMHO. It deserves a higher market cap. I mean I don't see Litecoin (or Bitcoin) holding a Prime Gap of Maximum known merit any time soon! The rest is just marketing and exposure.

Seriously though, what the feck is wrong with this entire crypto industry! Don't folks want to see what Gapcoin (original BTC tech. + Prime Gaps) can really do ...

This situation is not actually acceptable.

CoinMarketCap is presenting long-term incorrect information in regards to the Gapcoin project. I have now notified them more than twice about this with a spacing of 3 to 6 months or more.

They are restricting price movement and free markets as the exchange rate is held static with the last price point they last tracked ...

My recommendation for good old coins such as GAP with markets that are new/stagnant...  Put a offer to buy $1000 worth of GAP.

Be the change you want to be... you'll be amazed by how fast things stack up when just a few fellas put $1000 down each and start battling against each other a bit.

I can't tell you how many times I've had a friend that has over 5000 BTC beat me out of 0.01 BTC!  That's why that fucker has 5000+ btc!
