Happy Birthday Gapcoin! Traffic is bad nowadays but i am sure we will manage to break the world record until next anniversary. Mining equipment gets better and all we need to do is to decide to persuade a few people to help us mine for a few days

Would be nice to see some real use for these coins piling up in the wallets. Even if some kind of gambling or tip bot or anything. The only thing you can do right now with GAP is to sell it.

The whole point behind algorithms like this though is that something useful is being done just by mining the coin. Coin economies still have a long way to develop and a lot of possible ideas exist, like the ones you mentioned, but in the mean time at least some coins like gap are producing a useful product, in this case a mathematical one, rather than simply spinning in pretty circles like bitcoin.

ad1. If you know what to do with bootstrap file, I just made it fresh one for you: https://mega.nz/#!eVsyWKLA!94xINoHuEwEVKa1qOvoetRmJtknxACjTmHMFTu5mvQc
(copy it into your folder (for Windows) ......AppData/Roaming/Gapcoin/blocks . Close your client , delete what is there, and copy bootstrap.dat file there, then relaunch client) If you like easy way, quick way: https://mega.nz/#!mNN3RT6Z!Mf4boXb6tGdNzKxvYuEtW1ZPTn0jTUHmnh6RGzGDXOcJust copy unpack archive and copy to ......AppData/Roaming on your PC. Then put on there your wallet.dat file and start client to have your old address&coins back. This is just copy of the chain. ad2. As I know there is no working pool but you can solo mine this coin. You need conf file "gapcoin.conf" in Gapcoin folder with this inside: rpcuser=user rpcpassword=password rpcport=31397 rpcallowip=127.0.0.1 server=1 daemon=1 gen=0 You can use one of the miners which are on this thread. Sorry but I don't have nvidia card to tell you which one works or is the best. If those miners (GPUs) works for nvidia, to start it you can just make start.bat file with this line inside: gapminer-gpu.exe -o 127.0.0.1 -p 31397 -u user -x password --use-gpu -t 1 -w 512 Read pages back on this thread, you will find out things about it as people has this discussion already. Good luck

My is starting in 12 sec. Is not the quickest client I tried, but is not the worse one.

A lot of links on the website and original post need to be updated. j0nn9 posts sporadically, probably has a day job, and mathematicians are not often team players
