So imagine you are CEO and your company is launching a major exchange...and you decide to go on vacation at the same time..and at least 3,700 BTC goes missing. 'Premeditated'...either Freudian slip or he's basically telling us the truth for once. Wow..Just Wow. Glad I waited to deposit I think he has pretty good chances to go to jail in case he scammed user balances of mintpal. as far as I understood it the situation here is quite different to the one of mtgox.

Do you really think that Kerpeles didn't scam his users? I think that Mark was more elaborate scammer. This Alex guy just made too many mistakes in his scam, the bottom point is - he is a serial scammer.

did anyone received any coins from MintPal? did they send you any email for confirm the withdraw?
Yes plenty of people have received coins, though seemingly not any BTC. I hadn't logged in since before the v2 release so I had to reset my password, which was by email, but no I didn't have to confirm withdrawal by email. It took a little over 24 hrs to receive my coins, there were some lesser-alts missing which I don't really care about, the rest I received successfully. Any news about our bitcoin?? They dont work on weekend, but police works everyday haha They sent my withdrawals this morning (saturday) so someone is up and working at MintPal Thankfully I had no BTC on there, I withdrew all the coins I had wallets for last month. Hope all you guys get it back. If we are going to trade coins we have to trust exchanges and at the moment it's hard to do that. Bad luck for me... i only have BTC in Mintpal

Landon claims that Alex is in the UK as of yesterday. Maybe the crook is planning to leave the country soon. What can we do to stop him?

fund a btc bounty all together.. and hire people to track him down... OR hire a hitman This is funny there is always rumors that btc is used to launder drug money (or else), but strangely scammers (a nerdy guy usually) seem to always escape easily without too much problem...

This might be a bit of a stretch but does anyone else think that MintPal's Jason & Jay should be held responsible to some extent? Precautions should have been in place to protect existing users from shit like this. They sold the company in the drop of a hat (along with all our user balances) and there wasn't fuck all any of us could do about it. Their lack of foresight and consideration has costed many of us money.

Should this be reported to bitstamp or some other exchanges to try and lock his account (if his name/names match) ?

info
would you be willing to write an article on your investigation that we will publish? It's not really an investigation, if you start at the original address and just follow the transactions out that are over 100btc, always following the largest amount you pretty soon end up at those addresses, the unconfirmed one has already moved on another few times and is now sitting here https://blockchain.info/address/12jgEDUGSVPtug1oJirztibPhxavt9CWcw 217btc A username "Caffeine Drive" mining with Eligius has his mining address filter through to an address that just received 1.4btc of the stolen coins https://blockchain.info/address/19H6HWGiERgpV8rWQWc8FtjpFv3dLU5FEr

Not a stretch if you can show negligence, intent, etc. I am curious how much and how he paid, that might be telling. The whole transaction on to today is probably filled with clues of his, and maybe their, wrongdoing.

BTC = Black Swan. BTC = Antifragile - "Some things benefit from shocks; they thrive and grow when exposed to volatility, randomness, disorder, and stressors and love adventure, risk, and uncertainty. Robust is not the opposite of fragile.
