Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

I doubt the police would care about this, but I guess that if you threaten to sue him he might send you the BTC he stole from you to avoid going to court. It's worth trying if it's a relatively big amount.

Other than that, the chances of return seem slim.

unless you`re in the UK it`s pretty usless to call the police or report it

even if you are somewhere in the UK , the amount has to be significant

Been like a month since I visited this thread...and the altcoins are still sitting in my account, refusing to get withdrawn. Anyone have any updates on what's happened over the past month or so?

All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.

Actually it doesn't
A theft is a theft regardless of value of items stolen
You could and would be arrested in the UK for stealing an apple from a market if someone reports it

If it were ok to steal things of "low Value"  imagine the chaos that would ensue .....

Just a q... Who has been convicted of any Bitcoin thefts thus far, in which the funds have been returned to their owners. Illegal is illegal, but I don't see to many coins getting returned in any case....

Well, a lot of users recovered their altcoins (me included, a few hundred thousands doges), so there's probably a lot more hope than for those who lost Bitcoins.

My friend is trying (desperately) to pull his 2,991 BlackCoin out of Mintpal. He can sign in and see his balance but it seems the withdraw daemon is experiencing issues. What was the date of the last successful withdrawal? I feel bad for the guy as he held his whole stash on Mintpal where he actively traded from 1400 BLK to where he is now at 2,991. Poor fella

I initiated a withdraw probably nearly 2 months ago and still haven't received anything. The withdraw tool shows my correct balance but nothing has happened.

I am owed:
