Sure there is somethign fishy but guys wouldn't it be better to combine your brains to make a perfect miner then?
The people are willing to donate thats for sure. Its just how you guys would share the cake ...as Siri said when you devide 0 by 0..in the end the cookiemonster is said :-D

The are chance to do something good..I already thought of helping porting ccminer to VS2015 and Cuda 8. why not say lets do it?

I could agree, but  there is a sentence which is not true (and I have experience with that):

"The people are willing to donate thats for sure."

Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

No, they will buy private kernels. They want exclusivity so that the diff stays low.
That's why the miner situation is what it is now.

Pallas was faster.

This "community" will never donate. You simply cannot write so perfect miner that these people would donate.

There could be a general opensource miner with a 5% fee on it, the more commits on github, the more real benefits for the users, the more btc's for the single dev with more commitments. Everyone could have access to the commits, and everyone could also make improvements, maybe on a beta-free version to test the results.

There could be an improvement for sure, but these kind of issues should also be addressed because every time there's something new on the table, about potential issues. I can confirm that there are improvements on the lbry side, but I need to test more, and personally the fee approach I think that it's problematic, due the incostant flow of shares from the miner itself. I've had some issues regarding this aspect. It's surely better to have to pay something and stop. When you begin to see automatic reconnections of your miner, to the unknown, it's not positive, and certainly cloud lead to speculation. Given the average values of shares, poolside, who could guarantee that it's just 3.3% if you can't check it in the source, compiling by yourself?

That's another issue in potential, obviously, and surely it's not the case but it's better to avoid such things.

The comunity needs to donate if wants something to happen, otherwise just don't expect public releases. If you don't support the devs, they'll work for someone else in any case, and it's a necessity for them, and whoever pays them. It's just that people don't give value to gifts, to understand the importance of the things in life they need to pay for it, so they give the associated importance to the bucks gone away.

Sad. Human. Common. Behaviour.

"There could be a general opensource miner with a 5% fee on it"

I'm sorry but this won't work.
People don't donate, doesn't matter how.
If they remove the fee from a compiled binary, so they will from the sources, and also publish binaries without fees.
Also that would be a problem for the devs with all the forks.
Some devs will fork the main miner, make some little changes to it and change the fee destination. It would be very unfair for them (us).

EDIT: and remember a miner is a money making machine, which should be one more reason to donate.

Guys I was just mining one week now with one card..wasting 4€ of electricity and got just 0.01BTC so far.
What you think I can share? I really would love to donate every day when i buy my brezels i see a homeless and give him 50ct or buy him food even more expensive one than mine.
Maybe I'm alone about this thought but I share what i have when I can do it. I'm not about profit atm it try something and if you guys work give me some ROI of course i share with you.
We are all in the same boat.

I will donate as soon as I have something i can donate to you guys promised!

GTX 1080Ti rocks da house... seriously... this card is a beast³

Releasing miners on 30%~50% of net hash is sustainable. On one hand the network diff will not be too high that the farm owners complain, on the other hand there's good margin for devs.

perhaps he mean to release it only for 30%-50% of the miners? it's not like you cna know how much exactly is 30-50% of the whole net that keep growing

and also who will buy the miners will sell it regardless, that's the real problem with donation

the best thing to do is making your own pool as a dev like epsylon did, and take your fee from there

The donators can keep using the opensource. but most of them choose private bins because
then they earn more.

its not so easy to setup a pool, that require time, network, a good amount of miners and handling support.

Fyi, sp, i saved you a bunch of LBC on zpool Wink with your c=LBR typo

so yes i even do support for zpool and guys doing money with my work

Yiimp is great. I have directed 17 ghash of hash to your pool for about 1 month. I pay the 1.5% without complaining.

That's why I didn't understand why you were asking apologies when you had to rise that lbry fee to a mighty 1.3%.

In this world where everything including insider trading and heavy market manipulation is allowed I find it really strange that you devs are about the last people who keep opensourcing or selling your work too cheap.

Erase and rewind a billion dollar blockchain project, everyone (almost) cheering and waving flags.

Put a 1000 btc wall, everyone waiting what whale wants to do.

I would just like to see a cryptoworld where everyone, including devs, could do whatever they want.

No one is going to 'just donate'. That's a stupid business model and I'm not a developer.

I fully support a fee based miner or a flat fee miner. While I doubt everyone would use a open source miner and leave the dev fee turned on, it's entirely possible some might if you leave it low enough. The 4% def fee for lbry in addition to a flat fee was too high, hence why people are ripping it off. I've mentioned that before and I'll say it again...

As for ripping off GPL code? No one is going to prosecute anyone and honestly it just gives other devs something more to bitch about. They bitch even if you don't rip off their code and you (SP) happen to get more donations for a miner that involves their code that's open source. This has all already happened in this thread.

No one can check Claymore to see if he's writing 100% top down new code or Wolf as well... Most people don't care either except other developers.

I buy private Nvidia miners. Send information and/or inquiries to my PM box.

Working on release 4...

Evga Gtx 1060 3gb 285mhash...

Maybe I can push it to 200. But why release it to the masses when I can keep it myself.
My donationcode has been cracked, devs are complaining.
I have worked 100 hours on this kernel.  I want some return like everybody else.
I don't like to be fucked by the pools...Smiley
