I'm afraid we should give up on Yobit.
Same thing was happening with PKB coin, their wallet got on a fork. People messaged Yobit dozens of times - No response or action.

We need a discord channel.  That would be awesome.

That's fine, but I don't discord.

But it wouldn't hurt to have.

In principle TALK is about bitcointalk.org, and nothing more.

Which makes sense that we should talk more here.  I hope to have a Staking Wallet Programmers Help discussion group, but I hope you guys would attend it.  Nothing worse than starting something good and needed but not have people show up.

I like the idea:

Staking Wallet Programmers Help discussion group

If you write up any guilds and post them, maybe on golos or steem, so you get some bonus tips Wink

myself
I need to learn more RC commands.

Back to TALK (this forum) I'd like to have a type of 24/7 Help discussion group for coins in the club TALK.

Which means identifying knowledge-able and regular forum users.

At the time this would be pure voluntary, both providing help, and tipping helpers.

But in the long run, actual paid staff for Classic crypto help/support seems to be needed on this forum.

With discord, I suggest finding the most active discord channel for any of the POS chains and set up a base camp.

Joining some POS chains discord channel would be nice indeed. Gonna do some research sometime soon.

NavCoin 4.6.0 Release Candidate

This week the Release Candidate of NavCoin Core 4.6.0 is ready for testing, NavCoin Engineer Alex V talks with Binance in their AMA series and more.

This week's top story
NavCoin Core 4.6.0 Release Candidate

The newest version of NavCoin Core (v4.6.0) is nearly ready to go. All the features which will be included in v4.6.0 have been merged to the master branch. There is one outstanding bug fix that the core developers are looking to include in v4.6.0 alongside anything that is discovered while testing the release candidate. If you want to build and test the release candidate, you can do so from Pull Request #444.

If you don’t have a build environment setup but you want to help test the release candidate, the core developers will publish the built binaries to the pull request once they have been compiled — keep an eye on the PR.

There are a lot of great improvements being released in v4.6.0. Some of the major features to be included are;

Community Fund User Interface — There will be a new tab in the core wallet for browsing and voting on community fund proposals and payment requests.

Staking Accumulation — There is now the ability to specify a different address to accumulate staking rewards to with the -stakingaddress argument.

Mnemonic Seed Phrase Support — Ability to export and import master private keys as mnemonic phrases to backup or create wallets.

Along with another 12 closed pull requests which are detailed in the 4.6.0 release notes.

Once testing is completed and any discovered bugs fixed, the release will be formally published and the announcement will be made on navcoin.org.

Hello all

I'm new here but was asked to look into how to solve the problems you are facing currently. Below is the response I gave to one of your community members in PMs and was asked to also post it here.

Quote

A quick look over it's status indicates that the chain was apparently forked with the exchange going their own way. With them being at block 1.8x mil and the rest at 1.9x mil blocks.

What is the preferred course of action to address the issue ?

IMO, it would be better to do a chain swap:-

Advantages

1) New chain with old balances intact
2) No need to bootstrap
3) Would allow re-branding
4) potential hype and maybe getting listed on other exchanges
5) Clean codebase with a reference

Disadvantages

1) Abandons original chain, anyone left behind is in trouble if they keep staking it expecting a payout
2) A bit of a heavy handed approach to merging the divergent exchange and the community
3) May get resistance from users profiting of a specific fork.

In the event you take my recommendation, this would require communication with all interested parties alerting them to this change,
we'd have to pick a block at which to snapshot all network balances and those will be considered official at start of new chain. We'd also have to pick a codebase (not primarily too new, more a comfortably recent one whose kinks have all been worked out).

And finally in order to get attention we need a new idea or concept for the relaunch, that will propel the coin into the spotlight. That is how i would go about this.

On the other hand, in the event you opt to keep the current chain(s), I would need to know which chain will be chosen and get it's bootstrap so i can take a look.

The above is a verbatim quote of my response to the enquiry. This is only my opinion so perhaps the community can discuss and come up with a decision regarding how to proceed.

Feel free to ask any questions you may have.

My opinion:
1. Forget about Yobit, they are incompetent. Novaexchange on the other hand is always responsive to users and Devs. So should focus on their chain.
2. Possibly chain swap with old balances intact but have to keep in mind that most of TALK is gone on Poloniex and other dead exchanges and will never be recovered (See the block explorer). The real supply is much lower than 69mln TALK. So some space for discussion here.
3. Pick up some modern base with both staking and masternodes?

Ok, I find that reasonable. I will begin preparations and setup for a swap if that is the consensus.

1) Since distribution was already handled , we only need short PoW period to kick off PoS.
2) I think a CPU friendly algorithm is ideal since no serious mining.
3) We would need to adjust stake rates and pick a MN setup cost. (tricky since there are coins unaccounted for)
4) Keep all relevant parties informed in advance and communicate all changes.

If we move on this, i intend to make a butter smooth transition.

Welcome Blockchain Mechanic.

My vote is to maintain the orginal block chain.
My vote is to NOT swap the NovaExchange coins ( the true original block chain).

My suggestion is to get the Yobit chain reconnected (the fork) via finding whatever node they are on.

Then there are 2 TALK chains.

wHICH is the TALK chain?

I would suggest Yobit becomes the unmaintained fork, since they offer no communication to update their version, then Yobit-TALK coins can be traded.

And then if NovaExchange is in agreement to update their version, it becomes the IMPROVED version of TALK.

For the swap I would suggest something else.

INVOLVE OTHER pos CHAINS

Example you spin up a new blockchain, premine a million or so, then you [via TALK community] offer a shares to those who can prove they HODL x amount @snapshot date (via signatures).

We can offer this new brand to dozens of small but old and still active proof-of-stake chains HODLrs.

hi, thanks for responding !

Both the nova and the yobit are "original", it's just that a fork happened and was allowed to perpetuate unresolved. Unfortunately unlike a highway/expressway we cannot "reconnect" them now because they now have differing data ie #blocks #transactions and balances meaning that they are now essentially different chains on their own. They have different data which no doubt conflicts, and trust me having two competing chains is a coin killer. One has to be chosen and the decision has to be firm. Having multiple chains of TALK out there that will be associated with this project is dangerous and confusing. It would lead users to think both are supported and some may even try to transfer coins from one to the other resulting in losses financially and loss of confidence and trust in the team/maintainers of this project.  If we pick the one Nova is on then the Yobit one become unsupported or vice versa. At the moment if anyone re-syncs the wallet they could end up connected to either depending on which node they connect to. The moment the re-sync their wallet if they had been on the nova chain and sync the yobit, they will see different balances, and the reverse applies. This is a crucial point as everything changes past the divergence point.

The reason a swap is carried out in the manner I proposed ie mapping of balances from one chain to the other is that it simplifies the redemption process for existing TALK holders. They just pop in the wallet.dat from the old chain and right then from the first block on the new chain their coins will be available to them. This kind of simplicity also ensures exchanges do not complain or resist swaps as they have to do very little work to get on the new chain.

Do you mind my asking :- are your coins on yobit ? You see this is a very delicate situation in which users whose coins are on an exchange whose chain is abandoned stand to lose them.

However let me stress that when a decision is reached, communication is essential, yobit may opt to also join (if their support ever responds) the new chain, and time is very important. Users are given a specific date and time when the snapshot is taken, then balances are added into code that is already prepared and the new chain rolled out within two hours of the snapshot. This lowers the down time for users and does not create an unnecessary burden for service providers. It would also be the idea time to contact as many exchanges as possible to get them to list the coin, and with BTC and alts on the rise, the timing couldn't be better.

Please consider my thoughts and respond. Let's keep the ideas coming and the conversation alive. The longer nothing is done to resolve this issue, the less committed the community looks and that makes exchanges unwilling to cooperate.

Since poloniex had it listed , them may re-list if we prove competent.
