Seems VNL starting to rattle the odd believer of other previous frontrunners, one thing that has impressed me from the start of this coins development is John O'Connors approach in not taking on this negativity. His simple "thank you for your support" is the way to go. Don't feed the negativity

If I went in every thread that calls Monero a scam I would stay forever on bitcointalk, VNL is shit and I would rather not be indoctrinated in why you want me to believe otherwise about your coin while I'm trying to follow another coin development.
You're a funny guy, i was involved with the launch of XMR (if you dont believe check my post history), i'm now here and not there. Do your math = good + I don't care. Thank you for your support

Its all about actions speaking louder than words, and John has only been about getting things done properly!
The community is just as important and we have the start of a great one.

I love you all
I certainly heard that monero guys are toxic, but could not imagine that so much. Return to your bytecoin fork, leave VNL thread alone.

I don't think there is any need to insult other communities.
John invented FPGA mining and has pretty much been rolling out awesome after awesome. The least we can do is not sink to the level of crass ad hominems and petulant bickering.

Let's discuss the emission please. That seems to be the focus of the complaints about this coin. Any new currency must have a fair emission in order for it to pass muster down the line. If the emission was hackneyed or ultra-fast and then converted to POS, that is bad. Can someone ELIAP and use small words and pictures so simpletons like me can understand why VanillaCoin has a fair distribution that will stand the scrutiny of time?
For example, if I distribute all the initial coins via POW in the first couple of weeks, and then transfer over to POS, that's obviously scamish. That means that all the real work was done in the first 2 weeks and a lot of people rented out server time, got a shitload of coins, and now stand to make a lot of money off of people buying in to the currency later. This shifts the motive of the coin from technology and ideals to profiting the first users... that's no good. BUT, if you distribute the coins slowly over a period of years, and then have some perpetual emission afterwards, that's a good thing. That shows that you are trying to achieve a wide and fair distribution to all. So, please enlighten me about VanillaCoin distribution.

Well for one, rented servers were not allowed on the VNL network for the first few weeks. I tried mining from both AWS and digitalocean, but the client would not run.

I will read some of this and get back to you. I consider the bitcoin ledger to be the public ledger for all projects. Did VanillaCoin also happen to make a blockchain announcement so we can effectively date the launch?

Did VanillaCoin also happen to make a blockchain announcement so we can effectively date the launch? There was a pre-announcement a few weeks prior the actual launch on BCT which was closed down after the launch and discussion moved over to the official forums.
