Sorry, but who gives a F that the Chinese don't like the name? Are we going to change the name to something they like because we want to make them invest? If their investment choices are solely based on the name of this coin I'd rather not have them as an investor, easy as that. Look at the fundamentals of Vanillacoin, hell it could have been called "I love the cock coin" and I'd still be all over it and promoting it. Sorry for speaking so bluntly, but this whole appeasement policy over something as futile as a name gets on my nerves.

ironically, it's actually you who is holding onto the word vanilla and giving it more status than it deserves.

Should we call your bluff and call it I love the cock coin?  Then let's see you get all worked up...Bitcoin is global and so thinking globally is par the course. China is half the market...

from another thread

"Immediate concerns would be that UDP isn't a guaranteed delivered protocol (so packets may well never arrive), that the "Security Considerations" section of the paper is wrong (not sure how they got the impression you can't forge UDP origin), in fact very wrong (MiTM attacks, attacks on routing infrastructure), and simply skips most of the detail. Further concerns would be that any major network split seems inevitably likely to fragment the coin horrifically as there's no reconciliation mechanism I can see. It also seems incredibly optimistic about network propagation times - if we were confident about network relay speed, block times would be down in the seconds range (because why not?), rather than minutes.

Emphasis concerns, this is my quick eyeball over the paper without time to look at the code. Hopefully others can comment more meaningfully."

John can answer this more in depth, but it's a udp/tcp hybrid approach.

John has past experience with million node UDP networks, you can be sure he has read up on what he does. Doubt he would skip solving the problems of UDP that a wikipedia can list also.

He modified it to work with a cryptocurrency networks and it will be lossless.

I dont think it will be lossless as such but the packets will still be functional at small level of discrepancy , I know from hanging around IRC that he is very well aware of the loss of data packets using just UDP and has either gone with the more solid RUDP or maybe a combination of UDP and TCP. i don't know if it's one of those or something i have forgotten, it is similar to maidsafe in a way, which also uses RUDP, for the exact same reason of data packets lost with UDP alone

Yeah, meant lossless as in no real chance of missing data by the recipient.

The ZeroTime test network is now public.

https://talk.vanillacoin.net/topic/173/zerotime/9

Quoted from the above link:
The ZeroTime test network is now public. Mac OS X and Windows binaries are available at:

Mac OS X: http://vanillacoin.net/downloads/Vanillacoin_Test.dmg
Windows 32-bit: http://vanillacoin.net/downloads/Vanillacoin_Test.zip

Over the next week I will be working on the white paper that discusses the protocol in full detail. Likewise the ZeroTime private branch will be merged into the public main branch. There isn't much to explain except there is a new "checkbox" which enables ZeroTime. ZeroTime transactions take about one second to confirm on the public internet and are not subject to a double spend scenario.

Thank you for your support

Hello, Thank you for your news. Will zer0time be fully integrated and i mean by that will the checkbox of zerotime be gone and everyone uses zerotime all the time?

Back at 44.5k within minutes. Public testing has begun and now we get to see facts proved out with testing.
