I really hate the trend of information coming from shitty third party sources in the bitcoin world... Friedcat you used to post weekly updates when you managed MU! Why are we now hearing about stuff from a pumpkin...

Update

The updates of the chips can be found here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=438359.0

...

The tapout date is pulled back to early Feburary due to further modifications for robustness and stability, but mass delivery date is still March.

So tapeout should be done by now. If any announcement to come, it would be regarding processing orders. He already gathered lots of pre-orders from the other thread, so he is just going to start taking payement for them... CCMFFFFFFF Cheesy

edit: however, i wouldnt expect any announcement right now since he has a lot of business to do Wink

Yes, BUT it was pulled back to mid-february (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=99497.msg5025133#msg5025133). We should keep that in mind. Receiving samples that shortly after tapeout, mounting them, testing them, optimizing them is a lot for the time since the speculated tape out of mid february.

you just killed my vibe  Embarrassed

nahh.. still very excited and thx for that precision Smiley

still, Mr Pumpkin is just reffering to board member Jutharul, who kindly decided to keep us updated since FC obviously dont have the time for weekly updates anymore... but i hear your frustration Smiley

FC never mentioned any announcement after tape out:

I never mentioned that he mentioned, I just mentioned an assumption that I vaguely held and assume that others did too... but well, that's the nature of assumptions

Second week of March.
... Tape-out, or delivery date, or what... ? ...
No, I believe ...
Yes, you believe ... its nice, but I would like to know from Friedcat, or from board, if the February tape-out was successful or we're still waiting for tape-out.

... Question Everything, Believe Nothing ...

Weekly updates made sense when friedcat was paying off early investors: Reassure everyone he's not a con-man, etc.
Now that he has proven that he is trustworthy, he is focussing the company on the longer term. Weekly updates would do more harm than good.

Right now we actually get the best of both worlds: Infrequent and detailed updates by friedcat, and occasional, less detailed updates by a friendly pumpkin  Smiley

Well, for those who don't like to receive news or speculations from me, feel free to ignore me Smiley
I just thought, and still think, it is nice to forward information one managed to obtain. I know I'm no board member and I, as well, would love to receive weekly or at least more regularly occurring information from friedcat himself. But I fear that won't happen as of now. I'm not invested in AM since the IPO, but I have been around since before the peak at 4.0 BTC. Until now I was under the impression that most people appreciated me collecting questions for fc, helping to sort out the most burning ones a month ago.
And, hey... what's wrong about being a pumpkin that mines reliably on his patch?

I should have gotten into Bitcoin back in 1992...

I don't think he intended that your work is not appreciated, just that he would prefer to get more frequent updates than now.

Seems that he is being proactive and asking Jutarul questions.  I appreciate what he's doing, but would also like to see a PR rep attending the board meetings and providing regular updates if friedcat is too busy to do so.  A PR rep could draft an update and forward it to him for approval before release if releasing sensitive information is a concern.

Looks like we were just really lucky in the previous day. Otherwise we would probably have found another block by now if it was a hardware boost.

The alternative explanation is that there was a hardware boost, and now we're really unlucky!

That's OK, I'm not expecting any significant hashing until May.

Or the hardware has been taken offline again.

Yes, if it was a hardware boost, one can assume that they maybe tested the hardware 1/2 days and are now continuing optimizing their boards. So I wouldn't be surprised about them putting the new chips on and off the network repeatedly...

I just got word that the next announcement is now expected to be given 'after the first week of March' and that 'everything is still on track'.
So don't hold your breath for an announcement today or tomorrow, but I feel that said announcement will be the publication of the final specifications and the details on how to order gen3 chips.

Well now I'm bullish although will still keep following based on Friedcats timeline
Although if FC is testing new hash it seems to be doing great Smiley

Mining difficulty also jumped within the last day right?

The hash rate did jump, but it isn't because of Asicminer, because hash rate is calculated from blocks/s, and since the difficulty readjustment, Asicminer has not mined any blocks, therefore is not the one contributing to the hash rate calculation.

I think that what unlimited_power says is that now, with the difficulty readjustment, the boost we had could have become not enough to get a new block that soon; not that AM had contributed to that difficulty readjustment... So, if our 5 blocks found yesterday were due to an increase of hashing and not just good luck, the new difficulty could be avoiding us to get a new block yet. (I suppose we will se in a few hours)

Or maybe, it could be real hashing power that has been already taken offline, as someone points...

I just cant see how AM could've found those 5 blocks recently if they've had the same hashrate and considering a difficulty increase of about 400% during the last 90 days
