1021  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Airdrops speculations thread on: December 20, 2023, 07:21:28 AM
Since airdrops have gone retroactive, all is speculation which ones will do airdrop and which ones won't.

This is thread to post your airdrop speculations.
1022  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Celestia airdrop live on: December 20, 2023, 06:53:29 AM
15k to 11k?  I'm looking at 15 bucks and 11 bucks.  Lol.  Grin

As for the 26% move going down, it's really pretty normal for a new token to make a move like that esp if it made almost almost 8x from where it was ranging at 2 USD.  And mostly the whole market got spooked when BTC started to sell down a bit which is pretty normal too after trending up for a couple of months with decent gains.

Anyway, I really thought BTC's small sell down would make BTC.D drop, kicking off alt szn.  :/

Yes, I made a funny typo, but maybe it will eventually become prophetic?

Please no, my regret will be immense.

In my opinion, such concepts as retro airdrop and trading should be separated. And if we previously received any coins as an airdrop, then we move on to the next stage - holding or trading. At this stage, everyone has the right to buy and or sell, regardless of whether they received airdrop or not. The main thing is that don't after the sale of airdrop, we did not invest our received capital in shitcoins.

That's true. Keeping portion of airdrop keeps regrets at bay, and you feel less affected whether coin falls/rises. I feel this is balanced approach.
1023  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Injective Protocol Ecosystem Airdrops. Anyone?? on: December 20, 2023, 06:47:32 AM
You may also stake $INJ to qualify for airdrops, since Injective price is soaring high, projects may reward for staking it merely. There is already one announced from Nois [1] for $INJ stakers. Let's see how much it'll be worth.

1024  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: FOMO of bull market on: December 20, 2023, 06:02:21 AM
Getting FOMO or trying out to get in when the price is already peaking then it would really be just that a foolish action
that would be made out by someone.

yea, but you don't often know when it's peaking, or if it'll keep peaking. I have bought coins in past that went to increase further from my bought price even tho market was already increased to an extent then.
1025  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Secure your crypto wealth by not having it all in crypto on: December 20, 2023, 05:14:13 AM
Crypto is wild west. Scams/hacks, all the new ways to get compromised never ceases to amaze me.
Scam and hacks don't only affect cryptos. They affect every aspect of investment, provided there's money to be made there. It's just that crypto scam and hacks are more prevalent and reported in bull seasons than in the bear moment.

True, there are more newbies to prey for in bulls too. Correct that scams/hacks exist everywhere where there is money factor involved, but there is minimal resistance in crypto — you lose pvk/seed, sign malicious transaction, clipboard hijacked, you send funds to wrong address — all gone.

...once you have made enough, secure it, diversify in real estate, gold, etc.
I don't think that advice is ripe at this time. Now is a good time to concentrate on crypto investment. Maybe after the bull rally, investors can look in the direction of what you mentioned.

If person is already having significant wealth in crypto, he should diversify.

Quote
Quote
You could having million dollars worth crypto in your wallet and next moment, puff it's gone.
Yes, hacks happen but in most cases it's with the connivance of the victims who are likely to ignorantly give out vital information leading to the vulnerability of their wallets. For instance, we shouldn't be clicking on every link or extensions we get sent to. If one must get involved in airdrops, one should get a burner wallet for it. Don't expose any wallet you've a substantial amount of coins in by using it for airdrop.

That's true.
1026  Local / India / Re: India cricket Discussion and predictions [self-mod] on: December 20, 2023, 05:02:36 AM
Some IPL franchises lose already at the auction table, RCB is one of them. What few star players can do for the whole team? Starc expensive af, but KKR team looks good to me, should hopefully qualify for play-offs at least.

CSK, MI, GT squads look op as usual, and one them will wins the finale. Lol.

CSK, MI were good at auction table.

1027  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: December 20, 2023, 04:34:17 AM
#IPL Auction: One thing catched my attention on Twitter was a video that mentioned following (in my words).

Prices that franchises paid for players is price tag, and now it's players who need to justify the price tag and if franchises have overpaid the price (which many of them did), the players will be under immense pressure to live up to the price paid.
1028  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: December 20, 2023, 04:00:04 AM
#INDvsSA: Not Ruturaj's days in these odis, failed in batting and dropped catch too. Tilak Verma's position should be given to someone else honestly, he has been given so many opportunities in t20s and these odis, nothing substantial yet.

1029  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: December 19, 2023, 12:41:58 PM
Mitchell freaking Starc becomes the highest buy in IPL history. KKR splurged around 24.75 cr to purchase him which is insane while SRH splurged around 20.5 cr to purchase the services of Cummins.

Personally, I don't think either of them deserve such high amounts in this format. It's pretty clear that their ODI World Cup heroics helped them in this case.

Yea, insane purchases. Even if they play well, this exorbitant value. On other side, I feel Ravindra sold for cheap, and Bangalore should have gone for him, but they stayed silent.

I didn't understand craze behind bidding war for Harshal Patel tbh.
1030  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Just a small simple question. on: December 19, 2023, 03:56:05 AM
Trend changes. There is more potential for returns in new ones, albeit with high risk.

BTW, what a fall of zero classic, from $230 to 7 cents, I don't know why but if there is such fall I'd automatically stay away from it. In 2017-18 many coins went to undeserving prices, and 99.99% of them will never see those prices again, most of 'em are most likely dead already anyway.
1031  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 'Attack on Bitcoin’ Claims Circulate as Transaction Fees Climb Higher on: December 19, 2023, 03:14:51 AM
Months past and clealry this is still seen as an issue. And correct me if I were wrong but I don’t think Ordinals is doing that much of an impact to network congestion at this point, cause surprise surprise, NFTs are effectively dead. Now this either means that there’s something else afoot causing all this unnecessary traffic and high transaction fees over long wait times, or scalability is already becoming a more prevlanet problem in the bitcoin network than what we have expected. Perhaps this is the blocksize war biting our asses back with twice the PSI

I am unsure of precise difference between ordinals and brc20 but, these two combined have congested the network. There plenty brc20 tokens are popping up these days, and on the first glance they look literal shitcoins but people are printing money, exchanges are listing them.

It's hype of these tokens that's congesting the network, we have seen similar happening on ethereum.

NFT hype may have toned down, they are certainly not dead.

Quote
Now what do we do in this situation? Do we just wait? Do we ban Ordinals so they can’t contribute to the traffic any longer? What’s in place to make sure that even temporarily we have this be taken care of?

I wouldn't honestly ban them (however you do it, idk), I feel like it's running away from the problem (that's Bitcoin's inability to handle larger amount of transactions) than solving it.
1032  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Jpg monkeys are making the fees impossible? Just use a meme coin! on: December 19, 2023, 03:06:02 AM
It's just so sad that Bitcoin's adoption as a legitimate money is easily hindered, slowed down, heaven forbid halted, just because of monkeys.
Nah, it didn't. It just showed to Bitcoin that it gotta do better. If it can't handle this monkeys, how do you expect Bitcoin to be adopted into real world?
What do you mean it didn't? That Bitcoin's adoption isn't hindered by the exorbitant transaction fees?
If Bitcoin was ready for adoption, it wouldn't have been hindred by these monkeys. Ordinals are not problem, rather Bitcoin's own incapability to handle.

Anyway, this isn't really just about monkeys. The issue on transaction fees has long been existent. This has been discussed many times way before these monkeys clog the network. We can probably say that the rise of these monkeys, disrupting Bitcoin, is merely a symptom of a more fundamental issue.
Correct.
1033  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoins and other cryptos will never become mainstream before... on: December 19, 2023, 02:50:33 AM
Bitcoin network is overwhelmed by ordinals, to use it as means of money in real world is far get fetched, in my opinion. Get adopted on Internet first, these days people are transacting with lower fee cryptos and forsaking Bitcoin due to it's high fees.

Even during normal times, you pay dollar a fee, and transaction will take few minutes to confirm, do you really expect to purchase water bottle like this?

Other cryptos are far from adoption too, little load and they get congested.

Why should I use crypto (fees + uncertain confirmation times) when I can pay with cash or card, for free & instant.
1034  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Succeeded in introducing Bitcoin to a friend on: December 19, 2023, 02:00:02 AM
My question now is that is it wise that I showed him the amount of Bitcoins I have accumulated before he developed interest?

I don't think so.
1035  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: You will burn on: December 19, 2023, 01:55:58 AM
Shitcoins are fine for huge gains, for example, brc20 shitcoins are giving huge gains right now, but to secure those gains park 'em in Bitcoin.

Not a fan of directly investing in Bitcoin tho, at least in times like right now where we are heading to bull market. Even if you invested in BTC at $20k, you'll have 4x at $80k, meanwhile alts would be flying high by then.
1036  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to avoid a scam project? on: December 19, 2023, 01:47:56 AM
Having money in project and losing it teaches you most why particular project was a scam. Invest (what you can afford to lose) in projects you think are good and lessons will show up themselves, you'll automatically be able to identify scam projects from first glance after few experiences.
will not automatically be able to identify fraudulent projects even though they have been trapped in fraudulent projects before. but this is about awareness of how you invest money in projects that you believe in or not. thorough research is important to do. There are some people who always fall into the trap of fraudulent projects because they are tempted by large returns, even though if you calculate it, it doesn't make sense. no one will give big returns or bonuses without any frills behind it.

Yes, awareness is required but when your money is involved, awareness comes naturally. It's like trading with demo account and real trading account, lessons come from latter one.

It's quite funny, that people were quick to judge ethereum for it's high fees when nfts congested it. Meanwhile, now same thing has come upon Bitcoin and people are blaming ordinals and not Bitcoin.
1038  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: December 19, 2023, 01:25:58 AM
I would actually like to see the teams that build from scratch. Because I do not want to see the same players play for the same team for a long period of time. Because what's the point of having a tournament like this then?

That actually happens during mega auction, to most extent, here, franchises are only allowed to retain 4 players (this was case in 2022's mega auction, prior to it was 5), so team's have to build remaining squad from scratch unlike mini auctions where there is no limit to retained players, so teams remain more or less same.
1039  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: The best decision you can take on: December 19, 2023, 01:03:12 AM
As long as trading is concern, it's very essential you have a guideline rules you follow while trading, and one of those rules is not trading when not sure of the market.

That's correct, and I have been bitten when getting trades I was unsure of.

Few days ago wanted to dive into brc20 tokens, but I didn't because I don't understand them at all. Early this year, I minted inscription called honey badgers, and I lost them in transaction fees, lol. I paid 30$ of those and atm they are worth $400 but I lost it because I didn't know how they work.

Also, same advise have been given trading veterans in past, and may be one of reason Warren Buffet doesn't invest in Bitcoin. Although, I would still call his remarks ignorant.
1040  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: December 18, 2023, 03:05:17 PM
For those unaware, tomorrow is IPL auction, starting 1 PM IST. Coetzee, Starc, Cummins, Madhushanka will likely get high bids. Pat cummins should captain the team wherever he goes  Tongue
Also, I feel really sad for Rohit who might not play in the upcoming season despite his huge contributions to MI and the IPL.

He has been retained that means he will play but not as captain and there are lot of rumors/speculations about this on social media but we don't know what is the real truth but as per the veterans this decision can't be made without discussing with Rohit.

That's true, I mentioned about it in India cricket thread. There ought to be yes nod from rohit before making Hardik captain

Quote
@libert19, On the batting we may expect Head, Daryl Mitchell, Rachin will probably go for the highest bid and I expect this year we may see new record for costliest buy since the many teams have huge purse. Previous costliest sold player Sam Curran– Rs 18.50 Cr. – Punjab Kings (2023).

History has shown, costly players usually don't play up to their cost, so hopefully bidders won't overdo it. I feel players also feel pressure due to high purchase, pressure to play good and in return they do worse.
