1021  Economy / Economics / Re: Japan reaffirm Web3 plans on: July 28, 2023, 04:20:39 AM
Once they go ahead and start creating projects utilizing web3.0 and blockchain technology, the market will see a positive effect for sure, we will see a large hike in adoption rates worldwide since this will build more trust among retail investors from all around the world as people believe Japan as being one of the most innovative countries in the world when it comes to technology.
I don't think a government will create new projects and stuff like that. Most of the time they only need to allow businesses to accept crypto and provide a clear framework for retail users, and then anyone interested in crypto will likely use them. I'm not sure how to feel about CZ's praise though, since his company has been doing some shady moves here and there. I'd not be surprised if he starts criticizing Japan if they started demanding CZ and his company to provide more details related to their business. At the end of the day, if crypto stays they will need to regulate it, whether it includes Web3 projects or not.
1022  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Wallet for Android / Re: Does anyone use OBWallet (OBAndroid)? on: July 27, 2023, 06:08:47 AM
As far as I can tell, the app is still in developer beta, so I guess they don't really test it on other devices. They stated that the app should support Android 8+ 64 bits but I wouldn't be surprised if there are other limitations. It's really hard to tell why either since the error doesn't mention any reasons. Maybe you can try to log the error manually and see why it crashes?

There is no publicity either so it's not surprising that nobody knows or uses it. I'd rather wait until they release it publicly before trying to use them.
1023  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: how secured? on: July 27, 2023, 05:34:48 AM
Personally, if I can't be sure I understand how the tech work or verify the developer's claim, I'd rather not use it. They keep mentioning that it uses Samsung Knox as a base to provide a secure environment, but it also supports cloud backup which can be an issue regardless since it adds a new attack vector. I'm not even sure the Redmi secure option is really secure either considering Xiaomi phones are not that popular for privacy and security purpose. Since you mentioned you don't know how some of them work, I'd suggest looking at other options instead of risking your funds for some temporary convenience.
1024  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: CryptoDCA - App to DCA into Bitcoin and other coin on: July 27, 2023, 04:58:34 AM
Using a DCA broker usually costs you around 1,5-2% per trade but crypto exchanges usually have a lower trading fee between 0-0,25% (depending on various things). Our app can take advantage of those lower fees.
I'm not sure if inbuilt DCA tools are broker though, or is there something I'm missing? Are you referring to exchanges' extra fees when the user uses their DCA tools, not a broker that helps them make DCA trades? What about yours then? Will you charge for each transaction too or you're going to monetize solely on advanced features mentioned on your OP?
1025  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: USB Mining > ASIC on: July 27, 2023, 04:46:54 AM
To cover electricity and see some good earnings how many i need as a start?
There are tools to calculate stuff like this such as whattomine, assuming you know how to find out the necessary calculation variables such as hash rate, and so on as mentioned above. Treat it as a prediction since the variables will likely change when you start your mining activity. It is really hard to answer since you don't provide anything concrete to calculate. You'll likely get better suggestions if you can provide more data imo.
1026  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Faketoshi lost his appeal in Dr Craig Wright v Peter McCormack courtcase on: July 27, 2023, 04:31:17 AM
This is ridiculous! Who is funding his non-sense acts?
I believe his self-confidence is so high he's okay with lying as long as it gets him attention. I'm not sure what term can describe his behavior perfectly, maybe sociopath? It is clear that he's trying to get benefits by ignoring what's right or wrong and others' feelings as long as it fits his agenda.

My opinion in this matter is that the more people know that CSW is lying about being Satoshi, the better.
Sadly some people still believe in him for whatever reason. Some of them are definitely trolling, but there are others who genuinely fall for his tricks even after he's been exposed as a liar.
CMIIW.
1028  Local / Marketplace (Bahasa Indonesia) / Re: [Gratis] Jasa Konsultasi Spek Komputer (PC & Laptop) + Diskusi on: July 26, 2023, 05:13:14 AM
1029  Local / Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian) / Re: ATM BITCOIN INDONESIA | Saya Terkejut Di Indonesia Pernah Ada! on: July 26, 2023, 04:33:28 AM

Sepertinya hanya proses seleksi bisnis seperti biasa kalau menurut ane.
1030  Local / Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian) / Re: 5 Cara Mengajari Orang Awam Tentang Bitcoin on: July 26, 2023, 03:52:11 AM
Terjemahan subtitle nya rada aneh.
1031  Local / Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian) / Re: [INFO] Informasi Phishing, Malware, Virus Dst (WAJIB BACA) on: July 26, 2023, 03:31:37 AM

1032  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance adds support for the Lightning network on: July 23, 2023, 05:54:51 AM
But in that case, they should be the one to promote that people shouldn't get that much attention with the other choices and only choose the actual Bitcoin & LN.
That would be counterintuitive to their goal IMO. They want people to use their blockchain so they encourage them with cheaper fees and so on. Even the lightning option is probably added because they are certain they can make money out of it. Binance is a business in the end, and profit is its goal. They would not explicitly encourage users to be aware of the risks associated with their products unless they need are forced to do it, either by law or something else. Still, hopefully, this addition helps people.
1033  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How about decentralized community blockchain marketplaces without escrow? on: July 23, 2023, 04:33:13 AM
I just checked your post history, and it seems one of your projects still relies on having somebody help filter out bad actors. I don't think it is that different from how escrow works in a marketplace. If you plan to solve the necessity of an escrow then you need to build a tool that is smart enough, easy to understand for everyone, and not prone to false alarms so that it can solve any issues from both sides. I'm not sure if removing human intervention is the only solution since contexts do matter and a code might not be able to handle it. CMIIW.
1034  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Which app would you recommend for crypto news? on: July 23, 2023, 03:46:37 AM
You should consider doing other kinds of marketing since most of the time a thread like this won't get you anywhere. Your app has been around for a month or so according to your forum activity, yet the download is still very low. Either your app doesn't look attractive or it is not high in demand since other tools usually offer the same function. I've seen many aggregator projects in the past but most of them don't stay around that long, maybe the competition is too tough or the market is not really big to begin with.
1035  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: List of VPN Service Providers - 2023 on: July 23, 2023, 03:23:35 AM
There are people who haven't tried VPN and want to try, or let's say, I want people to make this topic more active and every week/month I'll reward the ones who publish most genuine, helpful and informative guides/articles in this thread.
I'd suggest regularly bumping this thread if you want people to read this (like once a week or so). Those who want to use VPN will actively ask for reviews/read previous posts anyway. Even if you can incentivize people it will just give you more trouble later on. Not to mention some reputable members do post their experience/suggestions regularly already. If anything doing something like that is likely going to invite spammers to your thread.
1036  Economy / Economics / Re: Russian ruble is scam on: July 23, 2023, 03:03:37 AM
But the EU's economy is not much better, if not worse, than Russia's. If the ruble is a scam, then all currencies in this world are government sponsored scam schemes.
How are they similar or worse though? Which part EU are you talking about here? Some countries in the EU seem to have different issues from one another, like energy, climate, and so on if those media reports can be trusted. But I don't think it is remotely similar to what Russia gets from sanctions etc.

I think fiat in general is susceptible to manipulation regardless of who issues it.
1037  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Which wallet is the most suitable option when considering a switch from Ledger? on: July 22, 2023, 04:26:04 AM
In the last two days I completed two transactions slightly exceeding a thousand dollars and my mining fee with bc1 addresses set at default suite settings --- ended up being around 45-55 cents for each transaction.  Fast too.  Had about a dozen confirmations in less than an hour on both transfers.
I believe transaction fees are independent of what software you use to make them most of the time. As long as the mempool condition is the same, any decent wallet should give you the same recommendation fees (not to mention you can change it yourself most of the time). So I don't think a cheaper transaction fee is a key feature to select your HW wallet. Maybe things will change if too many HW releases with exclusive software that doesn't allow you to change fees. CMIIW.
1038  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: First Criminal Case Involving Attack on a Smart Contract Operated by DeX on: July 22, 2023, 04:13:38 AM
I shake my head if you of all the people in the forum support the whitelisting and the imposing of KYC on self custodied wallets.
I think he meant to say that regulators don't need to introduce any new rules since they can just force DEX or any other platform to implement KYC or whitelisting. If they are popular and the owner is known, for example, I guess some threats could work and potentially force them to do what the government wanted. I believe DEX and self-custody wallet is not the same in this regard, I doubt they can force people to KYC to use Electrum for example. CMIIW.
1039  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Tornado cash and others mixers on: July 22, 2023, 03:51:02 AM
When you mentioned IP filter, I was thinking if it's the same mixers that makes provision to browse their sites privately with Tor incorporated?
I'm not sure I understood your question correctly, but I was referring to clearnet IP filtering. Stuff like blocking visits from countries or VPN IPs and so on. I do know one or two mixers that do this on their clearnet website but most people can still use ToR to access their services. So yeah, some mixers do recommend users to use ToR and apply IP filtering on their clearnet website.

Well, since they have the power to do it, we cannot say that they haven't freezed an innocent person's account. As I always say, all are sinners in the eyes of the government. They might decide to resurrect your previous sins in order to implicate you presently.
I guess that's true. At the very least you can opt not to use any centralized service if you want to avoid them.
1040  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto as Gambling: The UK government has laid to rest the controversial bill on: July 22, 2023, 03:31:43 AM
I think the reason people misunderstand between crypto and gambling is because of its volatility as well as the risk of investing in altcoin projects.
I guess we can give that leeway if we're talking with the average joe. But I don't think a government body can be that careless and just assume everything is the same thing. Even if they focus on altcoin instead of the Bitcoin market, I don't think it is that hard to see some differences between gambling and their high-risk trading process.

That being said, I think UK in general is more 'friendly' toward crypto from the news I've seen shared on this board for the last months or so. I believe they see potential in regulating the market/crypto for their own benefit instead of outright banning them or deterring people from trading crypto. CMIIW.
