You do not have to be experts in cryptography. since we know how much we can trust a certain user. Merit and trusts are different. To get merit you will not need to be a highly trusted member. Look at my trust. 2 negatives but still I receive merit. merits can serve as a moral encouragement for the help given to others. I can not speak for others but when I send merit I keep my mind empty. If I spot a good post then I merit it when I have sMerit available. these merits don't mean anything and can not be used at all. It's a feature of this forum not a cryptocurrency or anything else that will have a value outside LOL So, why do so many users try to get them from the very beginning of their registration, as if this is their main goal on the forum? It seemed to me that merits should be just a tool, not an ultimate purpose. You already have the answer now. Numerous daily posts like "How to get merits", thousands of similar responses to posts only worsen the state of the community and do not do any good, but kill communication, don't they? Or, maybe, I've missed something? You missed that you and the other guys who are talking about "How to get merits" and stuffs are no different at all.  Just read it here... ....I encourage people to give merit to posts that are objectively high-quality, not just posts that you agree with.

There are shady stuffs going on everywhere with anything not just merit. Since you are talking about merit, let's talk about it. Have a look on my merit history, I started with zero earned merit. So far earned 261 merit. Do you think any of them were bought? It's not only me, there are number of members who are earning legitimate merits. Thing is, there are no valid complain about merit anymore. I suggest you to change your views and be a community person, perhaps you need to work for your self development. |

There are two variables I can think of for the Investigation section: 1. Deep-web: The logic from theymos is very clear about it. The reason that doxxing has been allowed up until now is that it's occasionally very useful in scam investigations. However, oftentimes doxxing someone is used as a weapon in itself instead of a part of any investigation, and as a result innocent people are sometimes hurt. So to protect the innocent while hopefully not hampering scam investigations too much,
2. Rank requirement: It's not clear why is this minimum rank requirement that someone has to be at-least a member. If someone like a solicitor or law enforcement were trying to linger there to see if there was anything they could prosecute over, all they have to do is pay $10 for a "reader" account of that board. There should not be any harm since the information are actually on the deep-web. |

Electrum (the wallet I'm using to store funds) moves all my funds from one address to a brand new one, every time when I send a transaction.
You can actually change the setting which will stop this phenomenon and will keep the unused BTC on the same address...  1. Click the setting button 2. Click the tab Transactions 3. Uncheck the option Use change addresses (here the option is checked though) Unchecking #3 will always keep the unused bitcoin to it's original wallet. Hope it helps  |

It has to be moved to Investigations. Unfortunately, there's no way that I can easily make the forum allow them to see just their own thread, which would be ideal. I guess they'll have to work through a Member+ mediator. It might be helpful if some people would volunteer to act as mediators in these cases, and then I could list them in a sticky. I guess they'll have to work through a Member+ mediator. Instead, Copper-membership could work as a solution? |

I am the only one who use my laptop, yes I understand other possible factors too. You should seriously consider getting a password manager. I use KeePassX on Linux (for Windows it's called KeePass), but there are other options too. It's worth the time to set it up once, and add all new passwords in the future. 4. You could set a secret question and its answer for password reset. Once you set the secret question option you cannot disable it, so before setting it, learn its pros and cons. For more details, see Tips below and Change password and email / Forgot password. Actually you can.
Profile > Account Related Settings >
Remove anything you have on the Secret Question field
Remove anything you have on the Answer field
Then update the profile. I have done it before when I realized that account recovery using secret question feature will lock your account. So, there are no use of it, in-fact extra risky.
Oops! LoyeceV already have it An addition: use a password manager! I have hundreds of different passwords, and there's no way to remember them all. They're all safely encrypted inside my password manager, so I only have to remember the master password (and make backups). I have a text file with all the passwords I use for my web accounts. Has an eccrypted backup file as well.

- There are several important things to know about the secret question feature.
1) Once you set the secret question you cannot disable the feature.

If the account is under your control, this feature is a drawback I hope you are working on it since information about secret questions are wrong. 3) Password reset via secret question. Don't, account will be locked. Tips for 3) "Secret question": You really need to update this section. 3) you login after a long period of inactivity. I doubt it if it's not related to 2015 hack.

If you are enjoying this billion dollar idea then share it with your closest friend (you will have to ignore their negative feedback though). Don't go after someone who is doing 9 to 5 job, they sold themselves to work for others. Pick one who has entrepreneurship skills. S/he does not have to be highly successful. Don't underestimate their struggling. Only an entrepreneur friend (if you can sold 1 him the idea of-course) can take the idea from you and turn it into a successful project. 1 This selling is nothing to do with money. What I mean by that is - to make him 100% convinced that this is THE PERFECT idea for him. |
