1041  Other / Politics & Society / Re: China asks world to impose 'code of conduct' on Internet on: October 12, 2015, 10:48:39 AM

I'm not saying that the U.S. Doesn't play part of shady activity on the Internet as well, all I'm saying is how can the Chinese actually be trying to play the innocent card, when everyone knows that they are apart of the problem they are trying to "solve".
1042  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: Any pay per download site that pays via bitcoins? on: October 12, 2015, 05:14:24 AM
Apparently there is a new site that is exactly what you're talking about called JoyStream... it's still in the beta testnet phase, so you can't earn any real bitcoin just yet, but it's a working progress.
1043  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buying Bitcoin was a worst decision of my life on: October 12, 2015, 05:11:59 AM
I mean, a lot of people have lost money in bitcoin if they invested during the peak price point (which I'm assuming you did)... but if you believe in what bitcoin is and what it brings, then why do you feel like it's the worst decision ever? Unless you just invested in bitcoin as a stock, and not a new way to transact currency to anyone anywhere in the world.. then yeah, you lost a good bit.  But every time I learn more about cryptocurrencies and the new things that are coming out that are making transacting a lot easier, it makes me feel a lot better about investing more into it.

But if you are convinced that this whole thing is a sham.. then I suggest you cash out immediately.
1044  Economy / Economics / Re: The $1 Million Dollar Bitcoin on: October 12, 2015, 04:04:46 AM
Well that really depends on what is going on in the economy/world politics at that point I think... Lets say that people really started to not have any more trust in the USD or other fiat money and started investing it all in bitcoin.  There would come a point in time that fiat would have no purpose and be completely wiped out for that much money to be invested into bitcoin/cryptocurrencies.  Money would then be referenced in terms of "How much USD could I get out of 1 bitcoin" it would be "How much bitcoin can I get out of 1 USD" ... if that makes any sense.

If bitcoin were to be widely used and accepted to all major businesses around the world, then country oriented currencies would have no say in the discussion of economic policies.
1045  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Introducing Hive, a beautiful new wallet for Mac OS X on: October 12, 2015, 02:48:29 AM
Sorry, I really didn't feel like looking through the whole thread.. but does this wallet connect to the blockchain network itself like lite-hd wallets and can perform signatures and verifications of other signatures?
1046  Other / Politics & Society / Re: China asks world to impose 'code of conduct' on Internet on: October 12, 2015, 02:42:13 AM

A Chinese official on Friday called on the United Nations to impose an international code of conduct on the Internet.

"It is highly necessary and pressing for the international community to jointly bring about an international code of conduct on cyberspace at an early date," said Wang Qun, director-general of the Arms Control Department of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, in comments to the U.N. General Assembly.

Wang's comments were reported by China's main state-owned press outlet, the Xinhua News Agency.

"China, for its part, will continue to commit itself to establishing a peaceful, secure, open and cooperative cyberspace and pushing for an early international code of conduct acceptable to all," Wang added.

Is this serious? China has been a big time hacker of international secure data for some time now, mainly going after secure US documents... How in the world is the Chinese trying to become the poster boy for a "peaceful internet" when it's government is known for hacking and censoring the internet they have?
1047  Other / Politics & Society / Re: AMERICA PRESIDENT WHO YOU PREFER? on: October 12, 2015, 02:35:04 AM
It really hasn't been discussed here at all, but what are y'alls opinion of Ben Carson for president? He is one of those candidates that give me a warm fuzzy feeling inside, for no reason at all. I mean he's a really knowledgeable person and everything, and a great doctor, but I don't know how he would do in the political game of things.  He brings up some good issues like the health care issues, but other than that, I don't know what he could do for the country... but yet, I still like the guy...
1048  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Could The Blockchain Prevent the Rise of the Replicants? on: October 12, 2015, 02:02:03 AM
So what you're trying to ask if a blockchain could/would be used to audit robotic AI's in the future?  Idk if that would be possible, because of the fact that the system is run on computers... But this is real Sci Fi type of stuff, which is fun to think about, but the potential of this stuff actually coming to life in the next 20-30 years is not really possible IMO.
1049  Economy / Goods / Re: Be-Aware Clothing - BTC shirts on: October 12, 2015, 01:38:55 AM
I'd actually be interested in the disease related t-shirts you have to sell.. Do you accept bitcoin payments for those? It would be nice to look at some of the other designs you have, other than crypto related t-shirts.
1050  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The State of Monero address on: October 12, 2015, 01:17:19 AM
No you and your band of merry men have seven threads up right now. Seems you all spread yourselves a little thin :/

Actually make that eight threads. Finding which is the 8th is left as an exercise for you.

There is a difference between those threads and this one.

In this thread we are talking about the state of Monero.

Trying to stick with facts like current price, market cap rating, node count, and other factual stats.

Why isn't this the same topic as the Monero speculation thread? Everything that you have noted in here is something that would be of use in that thread that has already been created...
1051  Economy / Economics / Re: Let's Be Honest. We Are Waiting for $100/BTC to buy on: October 12, 2015, 01:00:53 AM
Lol i am waiting for bitcoin to hit atleast $150 and they go and stop at $1800 then it would make me a lot of profit.

It should take lots of time to reach these 2 different points.
I am waiting too but i don't think it will reach 150$ again.
The price is raising now and i hope to reach to 300$ soon this year.

I think bitcoin will go up a little bit more, but if the block size debate isn't resolved soon then it will probably fall way below $100... As for right now I'm investing in btc in terms of purchasing power to buy 1 or 2 altcoins which I think possesses the most potential for being the next big thing, but since this isn't altcoin discussion then I'll save those views to myself.

Also I'm interested in buying physical bitcoins because I think that no matter if the price will go down, or if it becomes very obsolete, then physical bitcoins will always be a way of preserving them and I think that they will hold a very high value 50 years from now when it becomes kind of like an antique.

But no one can really know what is in store for the future of bitcoin... it's just fun to be along for the ride, whether you've been on this ride for a couple years or just starting out now.  I just definitely wouldn't sell my car/house for bitcoins, that's for sure.

Really i don't see any advantage buying physical bitcoin designs that are made by some persons.
I know that at the moment they cost a bit expensive but can go more expensive in few years later.
About the blocksize i think that problem should be solves soon, i don't think that most of people wants to see again 100$/btc.

Well I'm just thinking of it in terms of historical significance.. so say if bitcoin becomes nothing and nothing were to become of cryptocurrencies, I could definitely see the price of Casciuss's coins to remain relatively expensive because he was the first one to do it, along with other factors that makes those coins expensive... Especially after years and years of holding on to.

I could just imagine someone coming into "Pawn stars 3.0" 50 years down the road or something like that and still being able to cash out with the coin because it contains a historical significance to it, regardless of the price of bitcoin.
1052  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: HYIP on: October 12, 2015, 12:55:04 AM
I have a question for people.  So HYIP are constantly starting up, and people keep calling them scams.  First, you have to know what you are getting into, so is it really a scam?

IF someone made a ponzi/HYIP, and stated simply that this is a game, and you are not promised to win anything, as a matter of fact you might lose all of your investment, would people still play it?  I am thinking they would, and still call the maker a scam.  Just curious about this, might make this into a poll to see how people feel about it.

People who start ponzi's do state that you are not promised to win anything, and to only invest what you can afford to lose... so basically most ponzi's start out paying out to recruit more investors, but the gambling factor is figuring out when the creator of the game is going to pull out and take everyones bitcoins away.  Fun in some cases, but really annoying...

Newbies who suck the faucets tits all day and manage to scrummage .001 bitcoin SHOULDN'T put it in HYIP programs... if people find out about a ponzi that is just starting up and believe that they are in it for a short term and not immediate pull out, then I guess they should invest... I mean hell, some times I do just to try to make a quick double and not play any more.  It's truly a 50/50 with these sites.
1053  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [BBR] Boolberry Speculation | CryptoNote | Official GUI | SuperNET CORE coin on: October 12, 2015, 12:42:53 AM
I am trying to register at http://boolberry.com/forum but just get the message below with no response. Who is the admin for the forum?

Thank you for registering. The admin must approve your registration before you may begin to use your account, you will receive an email shortly advising you of the admins decision.

Sending a message to crypto_zoidberg to ask.

Getting that forum active would be nice.

One advantage of a separate forum like that is focus. Instead of long threads here with random speculation and discussions there could be threads for

database development
marketing
technical support
mining questions
developer funding requests
etc.

I mean yeah, that is a good idea for you guys here... I don't know if many people will be there, but it would be kind of like the getmonero.org forum, which is basically like this forum, but more focused.
1054  Other / Politics & Society / Re: AMERICA PRESIDENT WHO YOU PREFER? on: October 12, 2015, 12:06:34 AM
I'm not an American, just an interested outside observer, but I would love to see Rand Paul as president. even though i know it will never happen he has the best platform and policy, the USA could do really well to have a guy like him in charge.

it will never happen unfortunately. the system down there is so corrupt i dont think any American can even see clearly any more. they do vote with their hearts, its just their hearts are blackened by hatred fear and shame.

As much as it pains me to say, you are completely right.  Both political ideologies that dominate the American system have come to be like rooting for Coke vs. Pepsi; Mac vs. PC; etc. etc. ...

People here don't think for themselves any more, and the real terribly thing about the politics here is that if you do and want to create another party that could combine these two ideologies or does something better... you are ridiculed and basically have no chance because everyone wants to stick to their "party".. I guess that could be said about every other country with a democratic voting system though. Politics in general are corrupt... but its a necessity for a country to survive, unfortunately.
1055  Other / Politics & Society / Re: AMERICA PRESIDENT WHO YOU PREFER? on: October 11, 2015, 10:28:41 PM
They are all corrupt, for starters just Google Clinton corrupt and clinton foundation corruption also bill clinton corruption

Yeah go vote for those who take away from you on a daily basis. you earned it all.
Totally, the Clintons are about as corrupt as they come irl. Many people have turned up dead by getting in their way or having the misfortune to be the fall guys for them. Not to mention, Bill was taking bribes from the Chinese Commies and in return, was allowing export waivers for them to get American missile encryption technology which is treason. Hillary one-upped her "husband" by shaking down foreign leaders for hundreds of millions as the Sec of State, then allowed deals to be made to help them out at the expense of this country and our allies.

Too much power has been allowed to corral in the executive's hands so a guy like Trump would be the worst to benefit from it. This guy would set up a bigger police state than we already have and people would cheer it on just to deport all the illegals yet it would cost something outrageous. Just cut off entitlements to illegals and they'd self deport. The productive would keep doing what they currently are and I'm fine with that. Only Rand Paul's tax policy will give this country a chance to redeem its economy and job market plus he wouldn't abuse executive powers and Congress would mean something again.

As much as I would love to see Rand get elected president, or even just get put on the Republican's ticket; I think we all know that isn't going to happen.  I don't think Trump will put in a police state, because he would have to somewhat abide by what the party wants to do, and that is to give the states more power and the Fed less power.  He is a genius in the business world, and I think that he would figure out some way to implement some sort of clever scheme to cut the entitlements off in a realistic fashion...

Then again, no one really knows... It would be the first time a true corporate superstar will be in the oval office, so there's no telling what would happen.  It would really be funny to see the politics being played if it was Trump vs. Sanders for 2016 ... Such total opposites...
1056  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 11, 2015, 10:22:07 PM
As bitcoin rises, most (if not all alts), will fall.

This cycle has happened several times with XMR, LTC, DASH.

If bitcoin breaks to the upside expect lower prices all around (at least in the medium/short term).

I recall people stating the opposite in the past, that alts went down when the price of bitcoins went down, and up when the price of bitcoins went up.

Yeah there are arguments for both sides, but I think the most reasonable argument is the one that if BTC goes down, everything else goes down (in general) ... I think this is true, because of the fact that it would be hard to make people believe in another crypto if the original one failed.  Idk how much truth is in these opinions though... each altcoin has their own market/purpose, just like bitcoin does.
1057  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How long did it take you to make 1 BTC? on: October 11, 2015, 10:15:26 PM
I make 1 btc in 2  month.I make this amount only on Internet.
I use signature campaign, faucets and different promotion to make 1 BTC.
With a job you can make 3-4 btc month or more.

I am calling total BS.  No way you are earning 1BTC in 2 months from a signature campaign.  No campaigns pay out .5BTC per month at the moment.  What other promotions are you trying to use to earn that, I'll say you can make about .3 from Signature campaign in 2 months, maybe a little more, so how are you earning the other .6 coins?

Well, in his case it would be total BS.. but in my case and other people's cases with a Hero member account, that is totally true.  I know with MagicalDice I get .5 btc per month. Technically .48 btc, but with the avatar I get the extra .02 every month...

That is, if you meet the required 100 qualified, "non spam" posts per week.  I think there are maybe 1 or 2 other campaigns that pay out this well, but I know MagicalDice is one of the bests.
1058  Economy / Gambling / Re: Cypherpoker - Mental Poker on: October 11, 2015, 09:42:20 PM
Wow, this is an extremely cool way to securely play poker.  But yeah, this could mean every poker room that doesn't use a system like this will fall off and die.  Why is it called "Mental" poker though?
1059  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [BETA] Coinffeine. Distributed Bitcoin exchange. on: October 11, 2015, 09:34:58 PM
I have been trying Coinffeine since they launched their open beta. I am quite surprised by how few nodes are running and how few orders there are on the order book. I have been thinking why... so here's my take. I wish the Coinffeine guys the best, please take this as constructive criticism!

Why are potential users not trying out Coinffeine?

1. Must install a desktop program.
This is a massive turnoff for casual users and bitcoin newbies (but these potential users don't care much about decentralised exchanges anyway).

2. Only OKPay available as payment processor.
This excludes (in theory) US users which are still a very large part of the Bitcoin world.
It also excludes users who do not like OKPay's KYC and lack of user privacy (which is one big reason to go P2P in the first place)

3. It takes an average of 20 minutes to execute an order (Must wait for 1 block confirmation to open payment channel)
This excludes any high frequency traders or anyone who needs an immediate one-click execution.

4. Low liquidity. It is hard to buy/sell more than a few bitcents right now.
Excludes everyone. (but should be easy to fix)

The good news is that 2. and 4. should be easy to fix for the Coinffeine team. They just need to get a few market makers in there and add other payment processors... which they have promised are coming soon.

I think you addressed all the major reasons for Coinffeine not getting too much traction. If 2 and 4 are being worked on that's great news. The time it takes (3) is the other issue I've heard but 20 minutes is not that bad. I heard it was hours or days. Installing a desktop app is not a problem at all.

Yeah in theory, 3 is not that bad at all... With circle it takes usually 3-4 days to get coins in and that's business days too.  20 minutes is not bad at all compared to other exchanges.  I've just heard about this though, where would one go to download the app? Is the program still in beta?
1060  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 11, 2015, 09:03:18 PM

Do you know why Linux hasn't superseded Windows, despite being a superior product?  Because Linux is not easy, is not necessary for the average customer, and Linux does not inherently make them feel important or carry status with it.  Monero can't afford to be Linux.  You can get on the anti-Apple bandwagon all you want (I'll agree with you in many ways), but their marketing is the fuck on point

I agree...

But the most important thing for a coin to succeed and to be adopted by all users and shops (on internet or real street store), is at first : to have a complete payment confirmation in less than 10 seconds, ideally 5.

That depends on your target market. Are you just trying to reach people who are buying coffee and donuts or are you trying to reach and deal with people who want to buy medium to large size items in terms of price/value?

Cars, real estate, motorcycles, heavy machinery, servers, precious metals, etc.

No one would accept 5-10 second flimsy confirmations knowing how the blockchain technology works. You could have your money/things stolen by double spending problem.

Exactly... I think that there will need to be/there will be 3 cryptos that will run everything in the future.

1) Bitcoin: because it is the first one, and will be used as the "gold standard" of cryptos.  Or like the petro dollar in some cases, where all other currencies will be compared to for value purposes.  I think people will still transact in bitcoins, but will mostly be used as a stock that steadily over time increases in value over the years (quite figuratively and literally "digital gold")

2) Monero: for big transactions.  Large purchases that require heavy security (Cars, boats, real estate, etc. etc.)

3) Litecoin: Fast, everyday transactions for your coffee, movie tickets, restaraunts, that sort of thing. (I've read that eMunie might even bring about an ever faster transaction time... but it hasn't been released yet and the devs are still working on the coin/code)

Until someone else comes up with some other coin that brings about a completely different functional use, which I don't really see happening, then I think those coins will dominate the future global currency scene in the years to come.
