1041  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Hotbit stops operation on: May 23, 2023, 11:16:35 AM
This wasn't even caused by regulations.

freezing assets and not giving any transparency to their customers will totally kill any platform.

They've mentioned about difficulty in compliance but, I think they're just trying to get out and using it as an excuse since it's been seen with other exchange's closure.

They gave a only one month to withdraw funds from there, announcing on his blog and Twitter. I don't read their blog, nor do I follow their Twitter account, yet I didn't receive any email notification about this closing of the business.
They've just posted it on their Twitter and it was all of a sudden. I think one month isn't enough for everyone to withdraw their funds but still, they've given time for everyone to withdraw it. But, I pity those that have missed this update and still got funds there and might miss this threshold of time for withdrawal.

Hé hé, another exchange closing the doors and blaming someone else Roll Eyes

- They're blaming (mainly) the regulations too hard to follow:
If they were really convinced with their business, it was only a matter to change your location for a more friendly country (Hotbit is Asian I believe) Why not? Binance is traveling since years across the world when something is better for their operation (taxes, regulations, ect)
Exactly, a serious business won't find these compliance as a hindrance to their operations. But it seems that they've given up and just trying to pull things out of these regulations. Although these regulations are certainly difficult for these business but can't also remove that fact that they might just use it as reason for some other reasons they're trying to hide.

This is so scary, Imagine some new leave their coins their on staking for more than a month without checking his investment. This kind of time limit of withdrawing the balance is very unfair to customers since not all users follow not your keys not your coin principle since this exchange offers defi that will be tempting for customers to stay the funds within the exchange.

I believe this is still part of the aftershock of FTX collapse since they mention it on the reason. I think many small to medium exchange will follow on this move since they doesn’t have much profit on bear market. Maybe they will just rebrand after this closure hoping other user will caught off guard by leaving their money on exchange.
True.

I have seen folks that have posted in the forum as well trying to recover those funds from unknown exchanges that have already announced their closure. We're seeing still a domino effect and we're not even in a bear market.

They are based in Hong Kong and Estonia, so they should be safe from US regulations but they must be bankrupt too.

They give 3 reasons for this shutdown and it's good to see them allow users to withdraw if there were even users left in the exchange. One reason was that it was because of the significant losses from numerous problems they suffered. They were accused by several users in the forum, it must have affected their profit.
They have to give timeframe for their users if there are still remaining funds but a month for all of these is unfair and short.

They're the only CEXs I know of that have lasted longer in no KYC policy, while more established competitors have gradually increased their policies up to full KYC requirements.
Surprisingly since the last few days they breathed the air of life, they announced some new coins listed. I hope it's listed for free and not a last ditch attempt to withhold more user funds after this shutdown phase.
Really? I don't use them but didn't know that they're still one of those exchanges that have allowed users not to push for KYC. But then, everything has come to an end for them. As for those newly listed coins, the devs might contest to them after knowing this closure.

They are based in Hong Kong and Estonia, so they should be safe from US regulations but they must be bankrupt too.

FTX was also "safe from US regulations" but the international parent company also exploded as well as all of the subsidiaries.
After reading some of their partners and some info about them, it seems that this is more of Chinese focused exchange, maybe there's something within their border and stuff and could it be that there's a pressure on that part.

1 month is too short, not everyone will be able to withdraw... but perhaps that's what they wanted. It's possible they don't have enough funds to cover everything mainly due to the frozen assets from last year which they haven't gotten back.

!remind me to check back few days after to see if people are experiencing issues when trying to get their funds out.
I agree that 1 month isn't really that enough for most users. IIRC, most of these closures give around 1-3 months for everyone to give it time for withdrawal but then, they're hasting on the process.

I also saw some posts going through the subreddit, as some couldn't help but compare the level of production between the different regions. I wouldn't mind having PGL as long as they won't be the ones organizing the future majors.
Good thing that the Bali major won't be organized by them but it's going to be IO sports and Epulze. We've been seeing how Epulze is organizing these SEA DPC tournaments together with Lima major and there's no problem with them.

Valve should be picky with these majors and won't just award it to these shitty organizers that haven't done well and instead of praises, they've received criticisms.

Going for some past matches these days, Bleed swept Talon and IIRC this is the first time that they've been beaten by another sea team.
1043  Economy / Exchanges / Hotbit stops operation on: May 22, 2023, 09:23:55 AM
I was looking if someone has already posted this news and it was posted through Hotbit's twitter account a few hours ago.

It's time to take a bow 🙇
For 5 years and 4 months, the Hotbit team has been proud to participate in a wonderful crypto show with 5 million users. However, it is with great regret that we have made the decision to stop all CEX operations from May 22, UTC 04:00. We kindly ask all users to withdraw their remaining assets before June 21, UTC 04:00.

For any questions, please contact us viahttps://hotbit.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

This decision is based on three reasons: please check this announcement link for more detalis: https://hotbit.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/14750194236823

Those that has got funds there have 1 month to withdraw it. And for those that want to know the reasons for it, you can just go directly to their link. Don't worry it's safe and it's from them.

We saw the pattern from the other exchanges that have shut their operations. As said on one reason, about hard dealing with regulations from the government.

what is the best way to learn from a YouTube channel or Group for free please mentioned the names helping to start earning.
Avoid any group at all costs that asks you for a premium membership. The contents that you'll be getting there as signals aren't really premium at all as it's like just extended info based on the owner of that group as per analysis of theirs.

And to answer your question based on your title; the best investment as of now is, nothing's gonna beat Bitcoin. It's why many of us here are aiming to have at least 1 Bitcoin but for the folks like you, you're just starting out.

1045  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: increased Youtube Gambling ads? on: May 21, 2023, 10:39:13 PM
I'm asking out of curiosity, are you guys experiencing a surge of gambling ads on youtube videos lately? this past week I've experienced an increased encounter of gambling ads on videos I watch on youtube. it's not that it bothers me, I am just surprised because I don't remember getting this many gambling ads on youtube videos in the past, but this past week, I usually get a gambling ad from 2-3 out of 5 videos I watch(it's just an estimation because of how often I get the ads). I don't know if it is because I recently watched several videos of streamers gambling or it's just a coincidence, I've watched streamers gambling videos in the past but I have never gotten this many gambling ads.
I haven't.

This is probably the algorithm that they have and whatever you used to watch and search, that's what the algorithm will show you. But I do get this a lot of time on Facebook videos but most of those are not the algo type but more of sponsored videos that they put it at the end of their videos.

If you're using Google Chrome which is another counterpart company of YouTube then that's it, the algo ticks on your browsing and watching activity.
1046  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are you still buying? on: May 21, 2023, 07:25:52 PM
This market is not favourable since 2021 till now like as of last two years that was a boom let's face the fact about, bitcoin price has drastically reduced the number of buyers overtime, even most of you that have it before aren't buying more bitcoin recently because of the waving price dilemma. Think of it this way, if you sleep by 8pm and wake up by 5am to discover that bitcoin rise up to $50k, will is you said is scam? Or will you regret for not buying again? Believe me it will shock many people how the bull will react. Keep buying if trust bitcoin
On 2021, it's actually a good year and one of the best bull runs that I've ever seen. But then, after the bull run it has to lie low and have to go through a bear market which was the one that you've said wasn't favourable at all.

Enough with saying or thinking that bitcoin is a scam if its price moves up. We're done with that and only those people that have no bitcoin are keep on saying that.

But most likely when we see the price of bitcoin moves up, we're regretting that we haven't bought when it's cheap. Those that have been holding, there's no problem if that part was missed.
1047  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sunday off-topic - If not "bitcoin", then what? on: May 21, 2023, 11:52:18 AM
I think already a decade ago "e-" was used for "electronic" versions of given words, like e-mail or e-market.
With this, I remember and it's more with the contribution of David Chaum's eCash.

Ecash was conceived by David Chaum as an anonymous cryptographic electronic money or electronic cash system in 1982. It was realized through his corporation Digicash and used as micropayment system at one US bank from 1995 to 1998.

David Lee Chaum (born 1955) is an American computer scientist, cryptographer, and inventor. He is known as a pioneer in cryptography and privacy-preserving technologies, and widely recognized as the inventor of digital cash.

I am curious what do you think about it, why these two words "bit + coin" were selected?
While all that you've said about the combination of bits/coin is where it's derived. I guess it's more of a personal reason why satoshi have chosen it to make it easier recognizable as the name is catchy? I guess. Could also be sounding like a cypherphunk thing and much better than digital coin or digital cash.
1048  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🕹️ Esports 🎮 Prediction & Discussion Thread on: May 20, 2023, 07:50:53 AM
Tundra is the most inconsistent during the time when they are still the heavily favored.
GG is like the new Tundra. I saw how Tundra has been at the top and they're like on GG's shoes now.

GG somehow still very consistent but I will not consider betting always a sweep match for them since we saw them multi times being swept by the weakest team in their bracket despite they are still the number on their group by beating other strong team.
If it's about sweeping a match, you can count them on like in semis or finals. They're always dominating on those times of the tournament because they're playing safe and making sure that each move they do is always accurate and will execute their strategies properly.

Even if their opponent focuses on Quinn in the mid, the other 4 are just unstoppable and yeah they've always been too consistent and irresistible.
1049  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ur Next Cycle Expectations on: May 20, 2023, 02:41:45 AM
I would be very careful about all the projects listed by you many of which are long dead, then many will not reach new ATH.... Be careful do not be fooled by the possibility of easy earnings
That's the same thoughts as mine. I want to know how much OP has invested on each of them, maybe they're just like $50-$100 and that's it suggesting these, all of it to everybody as if they'll reach 10x soon.

Be careful with your choice because you'll not know if all of them are going to be as good as they are. It's good to have lesser coins in your portfolio but they're the best performing assets than to have a bunch of them but most of them you're unsure if they'll perform well or not.
1050  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is a new pandemic imminent? on: May 20, 2023, 01:18:27 AM
The pandemic is over, and we hope that this will not happen again in our century. Economically, I think many have sunk rather than won, especially ordinary people.

Actually, if you take a look at the previous pandemics that took place in the least decades, it is very likely we will have to face a new one before we reach 2060 or even sooner.

After all, we are talking about virus which continue to mutate in the wild and there are even laboratories which experiment with artificial strains of viruses. We should just need to focus on what we have learnt from the COVID 19 experience, so we can act shifty next time and develop new mechanisms to save people and billions of dollars of investors money in the global market.

I am afraid though, many around the world have not learnt but rather continue to deny reality on what we went through since 2020.
With what I've read it takes a century before another pandemic rises so if that will be the next standard then I'd assume that most of us are no longer in this world.

Bill Gates has hinted the covid-19 and pandemic, and again, he has hinted another one might come again. And some news again that might have spread fear although there's no basis on this one.

Scientists revive 'zombie' virus that was trapped for 48,500 years in the Arctic’s permafrost
1051  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Don't gamble if you don't have patience on: May 19, 2023, 05:34:50 PM
If you don't feel like gambling then do not engage in small bets that may potentially lead to further losses and ruin your mood more.
But you'll feel it and it's hard resist when you're at the waiting game while your funds are sitting there and do mostly nothing. You have to resist that feeling and avoid gambling as much as you can especially if you've experienced the same thing as OP did before.

Well then, if you can't resist that and you've done that already and spent all the funds that you've got that's just about to get withdrawn. Then, there's no other people to blame but you for being impatient so, just take all the responsibility.
1052  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: does it worth to start mining now ? on: May 19, 2023, 04:19:14 PM
It's worth it, if you're able then why not go for it? Not everyone is in good problem to think of something like this if it's an opportunity that shouldn't be missed.

Aside from the factors of having cheap electricity. You should also be prepared for the volatility of the market because if you happen to use the mined BTCs for paying bills then that's it.

If electricity ain't cheap in your area, you can have some alternative of using renewable energies like solar energy but, you'll treat that as another investment unless you already have it.
1053  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Best crypto exchange - 247 CRYPTO on: May 18, 2023, 09:42:26 PM

After reading the comments above and seeing these fake reserves, I will choose to give a negative trust.
Unfortunately, many of these exchanges have become widespread in the hope that these scammers will get a few dollars, and they do not even want to develop the site to be selective scam, it is just lazy scammer that does not even want to respond to all above questions.
It doesn't even look unbelievable having that type of reserve and they think that it's easy to fool people with those numbers.

If there is any change, I can amend the trust.
I doubt it that they'll even change or will come back to clear what has been brought onto this thread about their reserves. But it will be good to clear things and let's see if they'll say something justifiable based on those info that they've projected through their website.
1054  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Happy to start bitcoin lifestyle. on: May 18, 2023, 08:34:43 PM
I don't investing any cash entering my hand even if bitcoin is going down or up, I still prefer it to others.
Your telling on your title that you want to start your lifestyle with Bitcoin but then, your statement is contradicting your title.

You don't want to invest your cash or whatever is coming in through your hand and you don't want to buy Bitcoin whether it's high or low.

What do you mean that your prefer that to the others? You want other people buying it for you and you don't want to do it alone as there will be people that shall do it for you?

You know what's funny, i already have and they don't reply lol.
Just an advice to you.

First, you don't have to post many times consecutively if you're going to reply to other members post on this thread or with any thread. You can post and reply to all of them all at once with just one post.

And if they're not replying, it's either they see that it doesn't make sense to notice you as you're derailing their thread. Or they've already noticed you and they're just waiting for the right time to respond all of those accusations you've brought them. I have to back read where you're pulling all of this against them.
1056  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Best crypto exchange - 247 CRYPTO on: May 17, 2023, 10:20:54 PM
~snip~

When I first had a look at their site the numbers gave it away  Roll Eyes. 100k ETH but can't get the website to look the right way. If this isn't a failed marketing attempt to attract clients then it most definitely is a scam.
True. As soon as I've seen the design of the website, it's not like what I'm expecting when it has claimed to be the "best".

When such claims has been said and there's no proof to what they say and even show some hefty amount of money as if they really have it but upon having a first look at it, there's really something wrong with it.

Much better not to do any transaction if they keep on enticing this way.
1057  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Best crypto exchange - 247 CRYPTO on: May 17, 2023, 06:14:39 PM
We usually see this type of claim but it's just another false claim which has been done to market the new exchanges and projects. If you haven't proved anything yet, it's best to just be lowkey and never claim yet that you're the best.

Because if it's about exchanges, everybody knows what's the best right now and many will have the same thoughts if we'll pick one exchange that's common to the most.

Proof of reserves?
They say, here you go. And they are probably richer than most of those early adopters by simply inputting 99999 or 10000000. LOL

SEA was done and I'm now into WEU. And it was a sad start for Team Secret, they've been beaten 2-0 by Team Liquid who was also 0-2 on the first day of this DPC tour 3.

Just want to go back to the SEA where Talon and Blacklist was hot on the 2nd map. But for the first map, it was an easy game for Talon, what a great Dota and perfect executions from them.

On the 2nd map, I thought that Blacklist will take it as there have been too many chokes from 23 with those chronosphere's but then still, thanks to Mikoto's storm.

It seems that some of the roster from Nigma has been standing-in for some teams. But still good luck to them and the game is about to happen within a few hours like 5-6 hours from now.

Well for now the team members are really capable of standing in because they are still top tier players but thats not really the whole point of Team Nigma if in the end they are just those 'mercenary' team. They need to figure out their own game soon otherwise there is no point for them to stick together, they should have let go of their entire roster
Good thing for Nigma, they've got new two players and one of them is known already for standin for Shopify Rebellion and that's Mikey. While Miracle is on the break and being inactive, he's been replaced by Yuma.

I think it was just Miracle and Kuro that didn't got any stand-in invites but for Miracle, IIRC, he's experiencing some health problems so he needs a break.

Edit : holy heck, which site should I use to avoid this image proxy error
Use, TalkImg - https://www.talkimg.com/

But for other reference: Image uploading websites/ scripts for Bitcointalk users

Thanks for the heads up. Either way, Entity won the game so yeah it was a good bet taking +1.5 on them against Liquid
You're welcome. Many were for sure got slaughtered by their bets for Team Liquid and that's a straight 2-0 for them. Later, we'll see the next game of Team Liquid against Team Secret.
1060  Economy / Economics / Re: Financial education or 1million dollars on: May 16, 2023, 09:29:09 PM
On the other hand 1million dollars is truly a life changing amount of money but if you are not financially educated, you will lose it all on  the long run,
I don't know if anyone sees it the same way I do?
I do.

It's like this, give someone who's not financially educated a million dollars and he might just lose that within less than a year.

While you don't give nothing to a financial educated person and he might reach that goal in no time. And that's because he's knowledgeable and aware on how to make his finances well including increasing his source of income.
