It would not be possible to distribute already existing coin for free to certain demographic.
It is not possible to distribute any coin for free whether new or not, your argument is invalid. Try again. Ok mr. Smart, let's buy 10,000,000 litecoins from the market and distribute it. Or create a new coin and premine 10,000,000 coins and distribute that. Which is actually doable? try CENT, it is nearly free. Mr. dumb, besides the new coin is NOT FREE (why your argument is invalid). Duh, pull your head out of your ass next time before you post such a thoughtless answer. Would you happen to have asperger's btw? Genuinely interested, as this feels like talking to someone I know who has it. if he had it, he would not use the phrase "pull your head out of your ass". i do have it, and its unlikely for an asperger to be abusive (at least if not personally attacked before or got tricked)

For the record, I am not part of any extortion team. You cannot pay me enough to not kill your coin if I decide to. I'm not sure how these guys are going to use "BCX" method to kill anything as I have a rather large "private pool" along with a substantial amount of my own hash rate both Scrypt and ASIC SHA.
My part is in this operation is brute strength, what ever coins they decide to kill as long as it is not a primary alt is fine by me. I don't even need a reason.
~BCX~
what is your opinion on more innovative coins (eg nxt, pts or mcs; hopefully more in the future). i like your reasoning

my personal guess: they bought the forum from theymos incl. donations and paid him. now they can use the donations to pay their employees and theymos has some cash.
but we'll see. i am very interested in the outcome.

And of course, blockchain.info does not hold anyone's money, as their system is designed so that the private keys are held client-side on the users machine, not on the blockchain.info servers as the article states. I think everyone here knew this already, though.
Does that mean if I reformat all of the computers I've accessed my blockchain.info account (including my phone), then I lose the bitcoins in my account? I've heard your explanation plenty of times, but I don't technically understand it... I'm part of the morons who are relying upon blockchain for my "spending wallet" which isn't too much, but would suck if I lost it. the keys are on their servers, but encrypted with your password. i'd strongly recommend their email or dropbox backup

i wish for better wallet backups. i love the way blockchain.info backups directly to dropbox or mail. an indicator that a transaction is on its way to you would be nice too
but: love it so far. great work

why dont you just forget the time concept altogether and simply rely on blockheight? eg instead og balance at time x you say balance at block x

personally i like sites where you are able to pay for an adfree version. your site does not have an login (which i generally like), but maybe its enough to just give out "secret links" (i know such thing does not exist, but trust is not really an issue here atm). eg: send 0.001btc and get an adfree month with url http://spaceindustrynews.com/kujghdd

I just wonder why banks are not scammers in your eyes? They hold your money. Paypal? Scammers too? Webmoney? same thing? This post might offend you, sorry for that, I didn't mean. I understand your right to express opinion. When one bank goes bankrupt, you didn't tell that all banks should now work in other way. You have to deal with the risk to get additional service, this is the game rules. I understand that you can't sleep well when somebody owns something that is considered yours. But I was sure that it is normal nowadays. Examples: your insurance, patrol cards, banking cards, facebook (owns everything about you) same thing with google. Pilots? when you are in the plane they own something yours.... aren't they? Cheers the difference is, that with btc-online-wallets its easily(!!!) possible to make sure the operator cant scam. too many btc online wallets (i consider most exchanges as online-wallets too) has scammed people. so why dont you just try to proof that you wont such a thing?

Sure I will I already did. We were thinking on solution like "Download wallet.dat feature". But that means additional security holes. Probably in future... But I got your point. I'm just talking about light secure app, where you store less then a bitcoin just for pocket spendings. If you don't need such an app, thats ok. But this functionality is ok for our loyal customers/testers. Whose input I appreciate most of all! They just believe people and understand that we understand that Bitcoin startup can newer become big scumming people I know that MtGox rumors are still in the air and that influences all the solutions made over all the crypto-coin stuff. private keys should never ever touch your server. all signing should be done by the client itself. the client can send encrypted private keys to the server if it wants to store them - but again: your server should not be able to see them clear-text. if you dont implement that you are scammers in my eyes. just have a look at blockchain.info which does exactly that: no private keys on server. btw: i thought they had an ios-web-app? is it gone too?

I hate to say but I think that is true, the exchange has a lot of promise, but the way it is being run right now it is heading into the ground.
That is the irony of Realsolid also known as Coinhunter. This is the 4th or 5th venture for him and it always ends this way, his lack of basic understanding on how to communicate with people, 180 degree turns without warning and being a complete asshole ultimately in his raging meltdown, shutdown and going dark for a few months. His platforms are always built rock solid. The truth is that mcxNOW is second to none in its speed, stability and trading engine. The security is top notch also. This was pretty much the same with Solidcoin 2 and even his first exchange Moonco.in. Even the failed exchange CryptoXchange which he was the lead developer in was rock solid, hence his name, Realsolid. The never launched Microcash I believe is still a coin that is ahead of its time. Unfortunately the mass critical error in all of these, is always, Realsolid. ~BCX~ you are saying moonco.in was him? that sucker still owes me a few btc then...

Easiest thing to do would be to just make a separate HYIP board. Would also serve as a place for the leancy, roinvest, and whatever crap people are peddling these days. HYIP and gambling don't really belong together anyway, it's probably time to separate them.
They are much more accurately described as HYIP than games, I think we're just getting caught up in what it isn't, and missing what it is. When faced with the argument, 'It's not gambling, it isn't a game', then we end up debating whether it's a game or not. A better argument would be, 'It's a HYIP, and it doesn't belong with traditional gambling, and neither do the other sites like leancy.'
i like that idea, because ponzi-like investments could be moved there easily. if you add an disclaimer or stickied thread to remind people of self-responsability it would be perfect
