1101  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I wish to create a currency on: August 25, 2011, 11:04:27 PM
Here's the 1st trickle of info about the planned currency:

Things that the currency must meet:
1.Think of a suitable name-I was thinking alongside the lines of naming it something that is named in one of my future planned films (the year is 2240,e.t.c.anyways it needs to follow the naming conventions of the film for the film and the curency to lift off)
2.Enlist an expert to help me create the new currency
3.Test the currency by 'fake mining'.Fake mining ensures that the currency is fit for purpose.currency made by 'fake mining' will automatically have no value so no cheats can profit before releasing it to the general public due to a hidden code in currency mined during the testing phase.(You can mine but you cant trade them as the terminator code kills off any potential value by adding markers and IDs to ensure that currency mined by testers is not tradeable and that all currency is freshly mined by every1 not a select group. It's too complex for me to  explain but I'm sure you can get the gist of it.Stolen or tainted currency like in real life is not spendable or profitable in anyway. When the thing is in a beta, the only mining that can happen is testing mining. It is during this phase that the coins mined will have a marker in it along with a terminator code, which makes it untradable and only the terminator code kicks in for testing. When the thing is released,every1 will be mining for real so there'll be no need for the 'terminator' code to make the test mined currency worthless and suddenly disappear thus releasing it back to the wild.)
4.The chain will be very long (it has to reflect certain things in a future planned film.the theme must fit nicely and be elegant and robust at all times as a currency) as in when the last block should be.I'm thinking that 200m 'coins' (the final name will be decided later) should be enough before the thing just stops producing. All good projects must come to an end someday before they get tiresome and annoying.
5.Massively boost the reward of each block so that every1s a winner.None of this early adopter/late adopter garbage
6.Must be tradable for BTC.This simply is a must.
7.Difficulty should start off at zero and stay there for a month before changing so that every1 can win.(A more skilled person can help with the design of this.I'm just a visionary)
8.All difficulty changes (rises and falls) must be predicable and not hap hazard to promote currency stability.

There will be more to come for info.I bet that it took the bitcoin guy many years to code bitcoin
1102  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I wish to create a currency on: August 25, 2011, 10:55:01 PM
Hey guys, I'd like to build a rocket.

I know nothing about rockets, or space.

Do you think NASA would help me make one?

Look since I'm getting many reponses like yours wizard,I'll make this official, there is NOTHING wrong with having a desire to learn programming to create a currency.it is NORMAL to ASK for help so that you can learn to then develop it yourself.I bet many people who created your currency bitcoin had help arrangements like I was planning and you don't attack them for it,yet whenever I do it,it's suddenly not ok.So where do I cross hte line?

I am NOT asking people to develop for me,I'm simply asking people to help in co-development like many of your favourite games, phones, software, currency e.t.c.If you can't understand this, then maybe you shouldn't be on this forum then should ya.Think before you speak please and we'll all be a lot happier.
1103  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I wish to create a currency on: August 25, 2011, 10:41:30 PM
Since I can see that people like to make fun of me for trying to do something I feel is right.I would rather develop or co-develop as he situation may warrant a new currency than complain about the issues of the other currencies.I simply felt that none of hte currencies on here were just right so I decided to create or propose a new one.in reponse to your post lumpy,How would you like to be ridiculed by others?I'm not lazy as you wrongfully assume. Most of my life has been nothing but work work work so it's unfair for you to mock me.I genuinley wish to learn to craete a currency. When i proposed this I thought that the forum guys would be more supportive and less critical. You let the other variants go ok,so why single me out?Im sorry if you expect bitcoin to thrive, then please stop being so hostile to your own forum visitors or people will be turned away from bitcoin.

Here are hte 3 challenges to bitcoin as I see them:
1.Too complex/unfriendly for the average user
2.Hostile forum environment puts off prospective users/creators who would otherwise use BTC without any fuss
3.No stability of its value

I have a message to my critics, either contribute something USEFUL to the topic such as teaching me how to create so I can do this myself or go elsewhere. There are many other forums you can go to for being critical of people for no rational reason.

If you truly dislike my idea then why don't you do so in a legitimate debating kind of way and not just bad mouth others for no reason.

I deal with technical stuff with computers and filmmaking, just not programming as it was too much for me to take in a few yrs back, but i feel I can do it now.I thought that this forum would encourage people to be accomodating to new ideas if you truly want bitcoin and derivative currencies to thrive then, not bash them for no reason. As for the poster that says don't create another currency, care to explain why instead of just complaining?

I only plan to create 1 currency as the many derivatives are getting a bit ridiculous I admit but what is so wrong with creating a concept that hurts no one?

From now one,I only wish for people who have actual ideas or construtive suggestions to add to this.If people insist on causing me hassle,I'll ask a moderator to close this thread.

1104  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I wish to create a currency on: August 25, 2011, 09:46:27 PM
I like the part where you detail the changes that you want in your currency.

I haven't done anything in regards to that as of yet.I'm still going over my proposal so expect a trickle of info to come at some point next week.I will give the info when I can get around to it.I'm a very busy man atm,got 3 businesses to sort out, filmmaking, mining and investments.

I can understand your point though,as long as theres no info whatsoever, how can any1 be expected to take a new curreny seriously.I mean who would honestly have faith in a currency that has no info about it whatsoever. There will be info coming soon.but until then guys, hang on.

Thankx 4 showing an interest so far to those of you who replied so far despite the scarce info at the moment :-)
1105  Other / Off-topic / Re: [GAMING] Can a HD 5770 and HD 5870 be CrossFired? on: August 25, 2011, 09:42:09 PM
Nope. You can only crossfire cards of the exact same model, variant (like different ram or something) and manufacturer.

An example of Crossfire that can work is:
Sapphire Radeon HD 6950 2GB model paired with another card that's exactly the same

When you can't crossfire is in situations like this:
1 Sapphire Radeon HD 6950 2GB RAM  paired up with a Asus Radeon HD 6990 4GB RAM because the cards are very different from each other in terms of how much ram they have (variants of each card),what manufacturer they are from and what card model it is

Here is where things may get a little confusing:
1.You have a Sapphire HD 6950 2GB RAm card and you also have a Sapphire HD 6950 1GB RAM yet they won't crossfire, but why?even though its from the same manufacturer and hte same model, the only different is the variation of RAM.Some people I know got caugh tout by this.

You can also crossfire in the following configurations:
crossfire (2 way)
3 way crossfire (Nvidia cards afaik don't seem to have a triple SLI,its just SLI or Quad SLI)
and finally Quad crossfire

I hope this post answers your questions on crossfire :-)

I lack programming skills so I need help to create it.If that ixcoin guy can do it why cant I?
GTFO.

OK.take it easy.No need to be so hostile to me even though i wish to learn how to create a currency. If people lacking skills that still wish to learn upsets you this much, then plz go elsewhere as that's just life.I normally more of a visionary type guy with films and concepts not a hard core programmer type like you guys, what the hell did ya expect?
1107  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I wish to create a currency on: August 25, 2011, 09:16:17 PM
Hi guys,
I'm not sure where this post belongs but I wish to propose to create a new currency as I'm not happy with the issues of some of them.

I lack programming skills so I need help to create it.If that ixcoin guy can do it why cant I?(yes I know it's not very original as its a copy of bitcoin but frankly he at least pulled it off even if it's not very well.)

That ixcon-guy did not create a currency, he created a nice little ponzi scam.

oh crap.I thought that if any1 can create it why not.

1109  Economy / Services / Re: Mining contract - 8,000 MH/s on: August 25, 2011, 08:45:29 PM
I can see that I can expect to lose out on another oppourtunity cus :
a.I'm too late (for when bitcion first arrived to make serious $$$) as I'm unable to keep up plus no1 rly cared to tell me when it first opened in 2009.
b.Price for mining contracts keeps going up (from my experience despite numerous offers,no one but 3 suppliers care about them)
c.Profit margins are getting thinner with each 'upgrade' of  a contract.I feel that mining contracts are taking the mick in pricing now.The person has very low elec rates yet the end price is high :-/ (I honestly think that hardware can easily be paid off with loads more lower priced users more quicker than a few high paying users)
d.Difficulty rises means I get less BTC for my efforts
e.BTC value either drops a lot in a day or rises but never stays there.Value is unstable
f.If you wish to make bitcoin more acceptable as a currency to every1 (not just us miners),then add hte fairness bit where things have either a 'stabiliser' where things are kept stable or introduce 'relief' periods where in times of really low BTc value, there is a chance for hte currency to recover and when it's too high (too expensive for hte buyers),lower it to a more reasonable level.(I can only propose solutions as I lack programming knowledge to create my own currency).in life currency fluctuates all the time but not to ridiculous extremes which seems to happen on a regular basis from all the time that I was involved in mining of btc since late May 2011.

I wish to profit without the artificially created barriers and expense I constantly face.Well I feel that's happened for me because:
a.I'm a investor that likes to spend a more modest amount of money (not $1000's like some people can with hardware or buying bitcoins via exchanges) but expect proportional returns instead of like £74 investment in BTC giving me £5 profit.People I know who are able can spend HUGE amounts of money and profit like overnight yet I can't spend much and still take ages to pay off hardware and elec bills
b.I have extra challenges like bugdet cutbacks, living in a place where people complain about the heat, noise and power use of my mining rigs even a little.I have no access to alternative energy which would otherwise make my elec bill free instead of like $0.40 per kwh now in UK.

I don't wish to sound like a hater or a complainer so plz don't flame me.I'm simply getting some opinions off my chest as things have been very difficult for me in the btc world recently.

1110  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: What about a host which doesn't discriminate against people? on: August 25, 2011, 08:21:08 PM
speaking of hosting places.Try hosting in Iceland as the laws are more favourable on privacy as well as not embargoing countries the US has issues with (I think.I got that impression from the pro freedom press law for the net in Iceland which prevents foreign countries trying to silence critical materials hosted on Icelandic placed servers)

It may help? (or it may not as I don't know fully about these kinds of things)

1113  Economy / Services / Trading artworks and filmworks for BTC possible? on: August 25, 2011, 12:43:14 PM
Hi,
Just had a look recently at the services section for the forum and I figured that It wouldn't hurt to ask whether it's possible to sell some of my media works (art works, film works and later on other things) for BTC on here?

Is it possible guys?if so,i'll consider setting up business on here. How can I setup an online shop that lets you sell digital artworks, film works, digital products for BTC? I like BTC for simplicity and convenience for me and the buyers

Will people still be trading things for BTC in a few months time or have the times changed for that?

When will BTC rise in value again?

thanx
1114  Economy / Services / Re: Paying 0.1 per signup on: August 25, 2011, 10:45:51 AM
Ignore that guy, I'll pay 0.2 btc for your credit card info! No offers to fill out, no hassle!

You honestly think anyone would fall for that? rofl
1115  Economy / Services / Re: [CLOSED] on: August 25, 2011, 10:42:00 AM
what site is this that's been sold?also how can I sell artworks and film works for BTC on here?
1116  Economy / Services / Re: Mining contract - 8,000 MH/s on: August 25, 2011, 10:40:43 AM
Looks like I have competition once again,oh well.Guess that's life.Anyways I'm kinda glad that more people are interest because I hope that this will force the lowering of prices because economies of scale should affect pricing. If the merchant gets lots of paying customers, then economies of scale dictate that prices should be droppped to gain constant business and income as is my understanding of this.

Yochdog, how much interest have your contracts got?If it's a lot,you can make a serious amount of money by dropping prices which thereby encourages more customers to sign up with you. Here's what I mean:
price is 26BTC and only 5 customers use services =26x5=130btc
now if prices were dropped to say 19 or 20btc but you have 7 or more customers that would equal (20x7) 140BTc total within a period of just under 2 months which may offset the costs of extra power being added all the time as well as profit.

Whip up the interest and lower the prices. If the exchange doesn't sort itself out for me,I may drop out of the bid soon.i have 3 days left to wait for this to work.

P.S when will BTC value rise again as it's largely stagnant with occasional drops and rises now which is putting me off BTC in general,I'm now a semi-miner,semi- investor now due to the climate of BTC.
1117  Economy / Services / Re: Looking to rent miners (1.25BTC per 1gh per 24 hours) on: August 25, 2011, 08:30:21 AM
I'm curious about your offer here. How much can ~400MHash/s (over capacity gets up to 405MHash/s but won't go below 401MHash/s) of power get me in BTC?
How long do I need to be donating my power to you before payment is given?
Do I need to run my comp 24hrs for a day or is it like a quick short job? How many hours do I need to keep my system running for you.
1118  Economy / Services / Re: Mining contract - 8,000 MH/s on: August 24, 2011, 11:42:40 PM
Can I please secure a contract at todays prices?

I'd like you to give me a few days buffer as the exchange Im on is having problems for getting the bitcoins to you?

I don't wish to be affected by the price rise.1st I had to endure a challenge from the other bidder for your previous offer, now I gotta face price hikes Undecided over time.

Ok secure me a place asap at current price or i'm not interested. If it wasn't for me and the rival bidder, your service wouldn't be so popular,we could at least get a good price as we effectively did free advertising for your service during those challenging (yet hilarious posts) to secure the bids.

I'll pay within 4 days when the exchanges sorts itself out for the coins I'll pay you with.
1119  Economy / Services / Re: Mining contract - 8,000 MH/s on: August 24, 2011, 11:12:45 PM
If I buy,can you make sure that I have access to the maximum power possible if I'm a paying customer. Is it possible to pay in 2 installments due to issues at the exchange for me?

I have 11.11BTC at the moment.I'll get the rest after hte exchange sorts itself out for me.

Is that the best price you can give me? I'm happy to just accept payments (instead of having miners pointed to me as that's sounds like a pain with systems in multiple locations)

If it's the best price you can offer, can you make absolutely sure that I get the absolute maximum power at all times when possible (taking into account of possible day/night situation with elec bills at ur end) so that I can later give a review of your services on my other sites (that I either co-edit or am the author of)?

Good service+good price=great service reviews :-)

great service reviews=more business :-)
