Unfortunately, I don't have a twitter account. We in the slack/IRC have collected metrics that we feel will serve as good measures to gauge the success of this promotion. Metrics being: 100K EGC "right now" is worth 1139.89 * 100000 * 0.00001454 = 1657.4 (~3 hours ago) 80 - 300 organic hits to the website per day (already having 50 hits since the first @vindyne8 tweet, ~3 hours ago) Twitter @EverGreenCoin_ followers = 2356 Max peers observed at one time and at one node = 73 EDIT: forgot to mention, 35 registered users on the website prior to the start of the promotion. Well, let's see how effective that is. I am quite sceptical about such promotions, but maybe I am wrong. I will help with retweeting, let's see at the end of the month where EGC is. One extremely important factor to take into account is the BTC price that was at the absolute top (EGC price of 1454 sat is one of the lowest levels in the last three months at least), when the social media campaign started. Yes, the yardstick was elongated while the unit being measured was contacted. I certainly hope that the ending comparison is so glaring that, even with double skewing of the price measure, supporters of this promotion will be very happy with their investments that made it possible. I do understand your skepticism. I have received some private feedback that such paid promotions (aka hype) are best for pump and dump strategies. EverGreenCoin being, or wanting to do with, nothing of the sort. While I know wholeheartedly pump and dump coins use similar promotions, perhaps even this same promotion vehicle, I feel the EverGreenCoin ecosystem is mature enough to gain new sets of eyes and, more importantly, more hands and minds. I do feel confident there are many like-minded individuals in the green industry, perhaps some already with a bad taste in their mouths from crypto, that will be not only willing to adopt EverGreenCoin, but also contribute when they see we have a long-standing community and an established record of being an honest project. The growth of our base is the target. A price increase will be collateral damage from us hitting that target. The growth of our base will not only be more easily observed by some of the more consistent measurements to be taken but, will help sustain any price growth that may come from the hype. Also, I do feel our 'infrastructure' of the new website and the support ticket system are ready to facilitate some major growth of both price and user base, green merchants included. I do thank you for your support by retweeting, uki. I ask all the community to please try and find some time to do likewise. This will help us maximize the investment. Not only am I too retweeting of course, I am making what I hope are opportunely timed tweets at @Poloniex, having never lost sight of that goal. Maybe the present hype-level will help gain their favorable consideration. Again, I thank all who donated through the crowdfunding on the new website to make the Vindyne Group promotion possible. Need a lot more before I get any decent staking done. Existing MAC users prior to version 1.4.2 only! This only applies to Mac users that already had an EverGreenCoin wallet and an existing wallet.dat file prior to v1.4.2. This should only include Mac EverGreenCoin wallets version 1.3 as any earlier versions were blocked from the network via a protocol upgrade mid last year. A compatibility mismatch has been uncovered in a dependency used to build the Mac EverGreenCoin wallets prior to version 1.4.2 that stores the data in the wallet.dat file to disk. This is only HOW the data is stored to disk. Nothing is wrong with the data itself and all your EverGreenCoins are perfectly safe. For EverGreenCoin version 1.3 Mac users, we do need to migrate your EverGreenCoin to the version 1.4.2 EverGreenCoin Mac Wallet. These are the options we have to migrate your EverGreenCoin into a wallet.dat file data which stores the data to disk in the same way as all other EverGreenCoin wallets (all Linux and all Windows versions) on the network: Option #1 - Using your existing EverGreenCoin version 1.3 wallet, send all your EverGreenCoin to myself or an exchange wallet as a temporary holding. You can send them to me and I will compensate for the fees when I send them back to your new version 1.4.2 wallet or you can send them to an exchange as a temporary holding place but, you will then have to pay the transaction fees and any fees the exchange might charge you. After you have sent them to the place you wish to hold them temporarily, either a wallet I will use for people wishing to do this or the exchange you have chosen, upgrade to version 1.4.2 and then I will or you can via the exchange you had chosen, send them to your new v1.4.2 wallet. Option #2 - - Close your v1.3 wallet if it is open
- Rename your wallet.dat file to walletORIGINAL.dat
- Start the new version 1.4.2 EverGreenCoin wallet and allow it to build a new wallet.dat file
- Copy a receiving address from the receive tab in the new wallet
- Close the version 1.4.2 wallet
- Rename the new wallet.dat file you just created to walletNEW.dat
- Rename walletORIGINAL.dat to wallet.dat
- Start your, soon to be old, version 1.3 wallet
- Send the balance of the coins to the address you copied of the new wallet
- Close the old version 1.3 wallet
- Rename wallet.dat to walletORIGINAL.dat again
- Rename walletNEW.dat to wallet.dat
- Open your new version 1.4.2 wallet
- Store the walletORGINAL.dat and your version 1.3 wallet in a safe place where you will not mistakenly launch in the future
New Mac users as of v1.4.2, that do not have an existing wallet.dat from v1.3, are fine to use the EverGreenCoin Version 1.4.2.0 wallets and have no cerncern. This version does use the same dependency as Linux and Windows already and will bring the entire network to using the same dependencies that store the wallet.dat file data to disk. This is why I want to migrate existing Mac v1.3 wallets to Mac v1.4.2, so the network is completely standardized with the way the wallet.dat file is stored to disk. I sincerly appoligize for this and the inconvinence it may cause any Mac user. If you have questions or would like to make any arragngments for this, please contact me via PM. EDIT: Of course, one could migrate by exporting and importing private keys also. |

my last block was 47 days ago. wallet is saying i have 2 peers but doesn't move from the number of days for the last block or the total number of blocks.
I am on a Mac osx 10.11.6

It does sound like you are stuck in a fork. You will need to resync with the network. There is a very recent snapshot available that will speed with resyncing. BUT, give me about 20 more minutes while I finish testing v1.4.2 and you can upgrade at the same time. Sorry you are having difficulties. Version 1.4.2 has measures in it to prevent this from happening. Links will be posted in about 15-20 minutes. EDIT: Just a few more minutes for these tests please. There is no reason these tests should fail but, just for good measure and better safe than sorry. Links will be posted ASAP. Sorry you troubles are ongoing, hankeh. By "open your other wallet", I presume you mean to open your old v1.3 EverGreenCoin wallet. To do this, you simply execute the v1.3 EverGreenCoin-Qt file the same as you had in the past. But that will not alleviate the fork issue you seem to be stuck in. To do that, follow the instructions in this post. There is no reason the v1.4.2 wallet would crash as opposed to v1.3 other than your current and what must be incorrect copy of the blockchain does not meet a check point that is now hard coded into the v1.4.2 wallet. The solution to this is also resyncing. I will PM you now with some other diagnostics we can perform. I'm on 1.4 too, still syncing for me - but I need to sync the entire blockchain - 183 days of data to go. Sync is working well so far Thanks for reporting your successes thus far. EDIT: For clarity and to avoid confusion, it is v1.4.2. I know there is no other v1.4.x for Windows or Mac to confuse, but there was a v1.4.1 and a prior v1.4 for Linux for a time as enhancements were phased in. |

Awesome stuff, great to hear that there is some prevention of getting stuck in a fork, i've seen this problem in quite a few coins - I'll try out the new version tomorrow.
Only problem (for me at least) is that it takes ages to compile on a raspberry pi. Still its always nice to see some updates. Yes, compiling on the CHIP can be a bit of a chore also. It hasn't sufficient memory to compile so, I must add swap on a USB drive as to not swap on the NAND. I thank you in advance for taking the time to upgrade. |

EverGreenCoin version 1.4.2 source code is fully tested and now available on our GitHub, https://github.com/EverGreenCoinDev/EverGreenCoinI will be getting this compiled for Windows and Mac to release within a day or two. When we gain all the exposure from The Vindyne Group promotion, I want newcomers to have the advantages of the latest code, namely the 27 seednodes hard coded into the wallet. |

After much consideration in the slack/irc, we have concluded that the directory on the new website should only showcase businesses and organizations that accept or otherwise use EverGreenCoin. While we fully understand this might give the directory a smaller start, we feel it will be best in both the short-term and the long-term.
If we simply populate the directory with entities that have no involvement with EverGreenCoin specifically, even if categorized in that way, end users might make the assumption there is some direct involvement and be frustrated with the experience when later finding out that is not the case. Making what might have been a good first-impression a negative one. Less irreversible damage would come from observing what will be a smaller directory and surely it will quickly expand with true EverGreenCoin-wise listings. Also, in regards to short-term, this puts less of a delay on the start of the Vindyne Group promotion, though we will be making effort over the next several days, perhaps week, to better populate. But again, only with listings that have consented to addition in the listing, have knowledge of and share our goals, and use EverGreenCoin in their operations.
Thanks for the help in reaching this decision everyone. I do feel we have concluded the best decision and this decision would require less 'un-doing' should we decide to pursue another route in the future for whatever reason.
Thanks for the update - I'll not proceed with adding more sites - Had to spend the day at Ikea with my wife - ended up taking hours. We might go ahead and leverage the Ecosia one you entered, as I might add an Ecosia search to the site. Thanks for taking the time to enter it.
