1141  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Raise the minimum transaction fee on: July 12, 2015, 11:34:47 AM
Miners are getting greedy and though we pat ourselves that BTC is decentralized and is not dependent on others like Banking systems are but without confirmations no one would accept any transaction and we ultimately rely on them to get our transactions confirmed.

And today we are thinking of raising the fee to 0.0005, tomorrow even that might not be enough for hungry mining farms and then we raise it 0.001 .. 0.002 .. and so on. And when the reward halves, what will be the fee then??

Hopefully by then the price will be high enough, otherwise BTC would start losing one of its main charms which is the ridiculously low fees.
1142  Economy / Speculation / Re: Logical reason that Bitcoin will go down to USD 0 on: July 10, 2015, 02:49:13 PM
There are tons of forgotten coins that never went to 0.
Somebody will always be tempted to buy Bitcoin if the price goes incredibly cheap, you would be an idiot not to. This is why it will never disappear. Its network effect is way to big at this point.
1143  Economy / Economics / Re: Can bitcoin really save Greece? on: July 10, 2015, 02:46:55 PM
And how is a country supposed to just up and switch one day to using Bitcoin? It's very far off (if ever) what you are suggesting. At most, Bitcoin will help the few there who already knew about it - by not having their money locked in the bank. The People wouldn't know or care what you're talking about.

You are absolutely right. They cant all of a sudden accept bitcoin one day. Only is beneficial for people who might have already invested in it.  Firstly they don't have anymore money to buy bitcoin, they can spend it in only limited places and they can be easily hacked so there is high risk

If they did the network would crash for starters, or it would become extremely slow. The price would go to the moon because there's no liquidity, its a small market to run an entire economy under it.
We need time, it will eventually be ready.
1144  Economy / Economics / Re: Greek Plan Accepts Austerity to Get Debt Relief on: July 10, 2015, 02:45:11 PM
Tsipras is doing what he can with the country . Now adoption of an austerity plan to get debt relief. Although he asked the citizens to go for a "No". But he's playing an ironical move here. Things are vulnerable at present. Greece's one mistake , even a minutest mistake can make it pay huge bucks. The country will suffer along with its people , they cannot afford even a slightest mistake.

Well, adopting measures that are even more austere than the ones proposed before the referendum will bring him a lot of haters in his own side. It's actually happening, not only voters, but members of Syriza are not liking what he's doing. Then again he doesn't have many options beside leaving the Euro.
1145  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Unconfirmed transaction - 9 hours! on: July 10, 2015, 02:43:31 PM
If it's dropped from the network how do you the get BTC back in your wallet?
It is as if it never left the wallet. If a transaction is dropped, it is as if the transaction never existed so the Bitcoin remains as if the transaction never happened.

What is the best fee amount when we send bitcoins from one wallet to another one.
I really hate now transactions, when i see people waiting for days.
I haven't sent transactions during this time, so I can't really say. But if I do send transactions, it will be double what Bitcoin Core defaults to recommending e.g. 0.0002 per Kb instead of 0.0001 per Kb.

I've heard if the transaction isn't confirmed in 24 hours it's dropped from the mempool and should be spendable again. Is this how it works?

I saw a guy here waiting for something ridiculous like 30 hours, and the transaction finally went thought. He never received the money back after 24h, he just waited more.
1146  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The days of bitcoins are still to come on: July 10, 2015, 02:36:00 PM
I will still not even be 50 in 20 years, so no grandparents making kids rich for me, i'll enjoy my hard work, vision of this incredible technology and severe holding myself thanks.

I actually hope it only takes 10 years for mass adoption. This should be faster than the internet. We don't need to buy the infrastructure, it's only a software that needs to spread, way easier.
1147  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Andreas M. Antonopoulos "Consensus Algorithms, Blockchain Technology and Bitcoin on: July 10, 2015, 02:33:39 PM
Andreas M. Antonopoulos: "Consensus Algorithms, Blockchain Technology and Bitcoin" [UCL] video

During his last trip to London, Andreas M. Antonopoulos paid a visit to three CoinScrum events. The video below is a full seminar in UCL: Consensus algorithms, blockchain technology and bitcoin”. A fantastic, down to earth explanation.

It was also announced before the presentation that UCL is launching a Blockchain research centre.

Thanks. I also recommend this one:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SEJGFY0iDUw

He talks about greece, and i like the part where he addresses the difference between blockchain, bitcoin and why in the news and banks they mix it up.
1148  Economy / Speculation / Re: Price of Euro after grexit? on: July 09, 2015, 01:52:14 PM
i think it will shortly dip below the $1 mark, maybe to $0.80/$0.90 but it will recover after a while when other countries are realize this is the best option. no more greece in the euro.

i don't believe that i will go under 1:1 ratio it may be equal but it wont go bellow.

It could go below for a short period of time when panic ensues, it's only 14 pips from now and you are there.
1149  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin to $50k before Xmas on: July 09, 2015, 01:50:36 PM
this would probably happen if the whole world is using bitcoin and the fiat system is collapsing Smiley

Not at all. If the whole world is using Bitcoin the marketcap would be on the trillions and a single coin would be anything from 500K to 1 million dollars.

To reach 50K a coin we only need a significant increase in real usage, and a significant increase in whales speculating to deliver a bubble-burst cycle.
1150  Economy / Economics / Re: Greece timetable before Sunday on: July 09, 2015, 01:47:46 PM
At lease if you got some bitcoin you want to invest in some property in Greece there has been a 30% drop in property prices so it could be a good time to buy a villa in Greece, http://money.cnn.com/2015/07/08/real_estate/greece-debt-island-real-estate/index.html?iid=obnetwork

lets see what happens on sunday maybe prices drop even more.

LOL, I would never invest my money in a place which seems to be so unfit for living. It was a beautiful country and all, but the people were always lazy. You gotta admit that. And also, with the economical collapse, the reason why prices are going low is because Greece is losing importance in its own land, you think people from another country would invest in such a place? Me personally, oh hell naww

You are clueless. The greeks have the biggest working hours and the lowest paying salaries. The greeks are simply tired of being scammed. It is impossible that the greek pay the debt back because there will be riots thanks to the shitty living conditions imposed by troika. My bet is that greece will not leave the euro because Tsipras will meet an agreement with them at the last moment. This will give them some extra time but everyone knows the final fate is leaving the euro.
1151  Economy / Economics / Re: IBM working with US Federal banks to develop digital currency on: July 09, 2015, 01:44:53 PM
As predicted, they will try to develop their own bastardized version of Bitcoin, open closed and centralized. How dumb is that if you think about it. One of the main reasons Bitcoin is cool is the decentralization of it.
I hope that once this goes mainstream people see the scam that the goverment is trying to come up with and the migrate into BTC.
1152  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: The best Alltime Bitcoin Chart on: July 09, 2015, 01:42:04 PM
I'm looking for the best chart that covers all trading since the start of Bitcoin.

Something like the Bitcoin Wisdom or Forex with tools. Most charts start in 2011 or after. What do we got?

Thanks in advance.

I've been looking for this for a while and couldn't find anything. The only chart that meets my requirements is Bitcoin Wisdom.

Some people use this, but its too complicated for me:

1153  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin trending in greece! on: July 09, 2015, 01:39:40 PM
the price rise clearly shows the Greeks showing interest in bitcoin and the news also makes others buy bitcoin too because they don't want to lose this opportunity for profiting.

also i have heard that exchangers are reporting that they are getting increasing  requests from Greece on their website and also there are a lot of question asked by greeks on how to buy bitcoin.

I think the people actually buying BTC is rather small, it's the speculation about it that it's making the price go up. Most of the people that hear it will not take the step and buy, only a small percentage will actually do it.
If I was greek I would be trying to buy as much as possible online basically because I would be scared o a haircut more than I would be about BTCs volatility.
1154  Economy / Economics / Re: Will the Chinese turn into Bitcoin after the this stock market crisis? on: July 09, 2015, 01:36:11 PM
Bitcoin is not ready for the big volume that it would bring, the network would collapse. Thank god that people aren't ready for Bitcoin as well, they are clueless.
It will take more time, but of course that speculation about it could lead to a big price pump.
1155  Economy / Speculation / Re: How to cash out 500k euro? on: July 07, 2015, 12:47:45 PM
Assuming that you want to do it through an exchange and that the amount is much higher than your usual trading volume,
Assuming that you want to pay taxes (even those you probably don't have to because the regulation is unclear),
Assuming that you're rather confident in your exchange, but don't want to risk doing it in one transaction,
Assuming that...

1. Tell your bank about the expected money (make sure they don't reject the transfer)
2. Tell your exchange support about your plan and make sure it is OK.
3. Send btc to the exchange in few batches (few days apart), sell and withdraw immediately to your bank
4. Declare your capital gain and pay taxes

In what country are they going to let you in cashout 500K dollars without paying taxes? Do you really think that the bank isn't going to put their alarms on when they see so much money coming from nowhere? of course you'll be forced to tax it, as far as I know there's no other way around it.
1156  Economy / Speculation / Re: Fractal analysis shows Bitcoin to reach $100k+ in 2017 on: July 07, 2015, 12:45:00 PM
Bro, even the Edub folks say that this high of a wave is going to take many years to play out which will be a pleasant bull market to observe and live through. I'd love to let this ride but this is fantasy unless a certain ETF comes out and wall street jumps in across the board. Guess I can't discard your assessment but this is quite a shocking and bullish viewpoint. I'm not one to be stuck or caught up in the dulldrumbs of the bear market affecting what the mindset of a bull market can be but good grief my friend. Shocked

It's no fantasy, you are not puting things into perspective. BTC marketcap is ridiculously low for all the things that it could disrupt. It only takes a couple of legitimate whales to decide the time is now, which then will lead more common investors that are doubting still to get in as well. As a result, we get a huge bubble and after it bursts we'll be on a way higher floor than we ever saw before. This cycle will repeating for 2+ decades until the price is ridiculously high and BTC accepted everywhere.
1157  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin to $50k before Xmas on: July 07, 2015, 12:41:38 PM
i dont think so...
FBI auction, mtgox...
the next year maybe

Those are nothing compared to the amount of volume that a fiat whale panicbuy period could make to the price. 50K is doable in a whale panic buy bubble, but I think it's unlikely. Most whales and most average joes are still too dumb to get on BTC and scared of it. We'll see tho, that would be the best xmas ever.
1158  Economy / Economics / Re: Can bitcoin help the world's unbanked? on: July 07, 2015, 12:23:35 PM
not for everyone, many cannot buy bitcoin locally with their csh, and because of this they rely on a bank account at the end, bitcoin is more suitable with digial platform and everything that is online

we are moving in that way after all, technology is aiming to make everything digital, cash will be annihilated one day i'm sure

Anyone can start accepting payments with Bitcoin anywhere, this is very important and would have been impossible for tens of people out there in a pre-Bitcoin world.
The ones that don't have any internet tho, they are pretty much trapped on their own countries. Without internet there isnt much hope.
1159  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin trending in greece! on: July 07, 2015, 12:17:38 PM
Greece has now until 20th of july to pay a series of bonds which are key to deduce where this is going to go. If they don't pay the 20th of july, it's pretty much game over at that point, and a Grexit is a bigger % of the outcome.
1160  Other / Meta / Re: How do i become a member of this forum? on: July 07, 2015, 12:13:32 PM
I want to know how to become a member of this forum is it paid for or its acquired and how are the signatures also earned.I need some help on these please

You don't have to pay, you just have to be active, I think every 14 days your activity points will go up in increments of 14 if you got 14 or more posts, so that means it takes months to become a Full Member, and even more months to become Sr Member, a year+ to become Hero Member, that's why accounts on this site are so valuable.
