1161  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto VS national currency on: May 07, 2018, 11:28:36 AM
I found this expression on the news channel about the crypto currency: "Anyone who will try  to buy coffee for cash in 2023, runs the risk of causing laughter from the seller, that he does not use crypto currency."
how do you think, is it realistic? Can a crypto currency replace national  money?
I think that it's possible, but it will take more time.

Certainly not in my country. Leave bitcoins, if you try paying by card or online transfer, most of the tea/coffee sellers will start laughing. There are places here (villages mainly) where you will be able to get a cup of tea by exchanging with items like some potatoes. Yes, barter system exists even today.

1163  Other / Meta / Re: Merit system should be removed ! on: May 07, 2018, 11:20:26 AM
Something definitely should be done. I just read in another thread someone receiving 90 merits in one day from one guy, for short generic posts. Yet from my point of view getting just one merit, even from quality posts seems impossible. So it doesn't add up. It seems that the people receiving merits are people taking advantage of something.

Abuse on such large scale will most probably get caught and dealt with. But that is also not because the form staff is looking out for this but it the members who report it. Most of the people are doing it voluntarily as a contribution to the forum or in hope of getting merits in return.
1164  Other / Meta / Re: What if that happens? on: May 07, 2018, 11:06:25 AM
In my opinion, this staff should be able to see the deleted posts. But still the person abusing merit system and deleting the posts gets an advantage that members will not be able to see and report this. If everyone starts doing this, then it will become very hard to find out merit abuse. Even if someone starts reporting cases when a member is deleting posts, staff will not have the time to check so many cases.
1165  Other / Meta / Re: what is going on with the forum on: May 07, 2018, 11:02:48 AM
Merit System intentionally is not implemented to eliminate spam post and spam posters, it is implemented to keep those shitposters to stay at the ranks forever. They will only rank up if they make good quality posts but if not, it's their choice to suffer at their present rank forever while watching other members moving up the ranking. We all know that spam posts will never decrease, this system prevents those members (shitposters) from ranking up if they don't really deserve it Smiley

I do not agree to this. Your comment gives an impression that removing spam posts from this forum is not that important as people making those posts will not rank up. Spam posts cause a big problem for all the users of this forum. This happens when you are searching for some information and you have to got through 100s of useless posts before finding some relevant information. That needs immediate solution.
1166  Other / Meta / Re: Fake profiles joining old/closed bounties for some reason. on: May 07, 2018, 10:59:06 AM
What could be the reason for them doing so ? I do not see any benefit to them for doing this ? One possibility is that the projects having those threads are getting it bumped from these users for getting more visitors. Another option is that they are doing it out of ignorance, many members do this in signature campaign. They apply as a newbie without any signature. Smiley
1167  Other / Meta / Re: Sending Merit to his other account on: May 07, 2018, 10:53:42 AM
You should have included the profile link of those two accounts and the link of the post. So that Mods can take action if they are really guilty Smiley

Since your thread doesn't contain any important information, this will be considered as a spam thread.

Here you go:

Here is another profile involved: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=100595 , who sent 20 merits to 1st profile  two times, for small posts.

1168  Other / Meta / Re: Merits - An erroneous feedback system with no credibility. on: May 07, 2018, 10:50:34 AM
I am not trying to support OP, but he got some point about Merit system. Every section seems have it's own standard for "quality post". You will see some shitpost in Altcoin section getting merit, just because it support the merit sender's opinion. Or some bounty managers get ton of merittls just because he/she send the payment on-time. And Yet, they are not abusing the merit system, because the receiver do not beg for merit, and the sender don't get anything for giving merit.

I don't say that merit system is bad, this forum really need this kind of system. But somehow it still has many flaws

Those are valid concerns and need to be addressed by the admin in future updates. We should still give it some time as I think the merit system is quite new.

Members sending merits to campaign mangers just for impressing them is a big problem. Greed is an obvious human behavior and some will always act based on that. However, note that some of the campaign mangers make excellent posts as well, in fact one is even among the top merited embers here.
1169  Other / Meta / Re: Is the merit system flawed? on: May 07, 2018, 10:46:56 AM
Sometimes I think elders don't want us to rank up  Grin

Do they have something especially against you ? Because some members were able to achieve 100 merit points after the merit system. So they were able to get merits from the same members who are being questioned by you.

You need just two things to achieve this, being regular and active here and posting to the point content.
1170  Other / Meta / Re: Theymos Doesn't love the Forum Anymore ?? !!!!! on: May 07, 2018, 10:43:07 AM
An admin who takes up the pain to change code just to make the members smile on April fools day (2018) is being labeled as a person who does not love the forum. I need not post anything more here.

Thread I am referring to: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3232693.0
1171  Other / Meta / Re: List of members on: May 06, 2018, 03:39:00 PM
You can see who has more activity points, the most trusted and the most merited here: http://dev.martinlawrence.ca/bpip/

Nice share, I checked the page and some of the names in most merited are easily identifiable. You can easily recognize them based on the quality of past posts made them. OP also asked for list of members based on ranks and I do not think there is any option to see that. Am I right ?
1172  Other / Meta / Re: I don't understand this "going back to merit" thing on: May 06, 2018, 03:36:18 PM
One of the reasons this could happen is that the person refreshed his page after giving merits to another member. Same number of merits will be awarded to same member without asking for his confirmation. I am not taking sides of anyone but there is possibility of that happening as well.
1173  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What Is Your Worst Moment in Gambling? on: May 06, 2018, 03:29:46 PM
Addicting to gambling is the worst moment in the gambling, we know we already loosing money through gambling but still, we borrow money from others gambling and it will create lot problems if we keep continue like this.

Yes, it is a serious issue but there are different solutions as well. You should also try to develop other hobbies. Moreover, try to spend quality time with family and friends offline as well. If you remain busy with work, then you will not have the free time to think about gambling.
1174  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why gambling is portrayed negatively almost everywhere? on: May 06, 2018, 03:28:57 PM
I am not that surprised that gambling is portrayed negatively in most of the occasions. I have seen before my own eyes how some of my friends got ruined financially as a result of their addiction to gambling. Addiction is the problem, but if you start gambling then it is very difficult to stay away from it.

The recent advancements in the field of broadband has provided people with a number of online opportunities. There are social media websites for interacting with friends, forums to get knowledge about a particular niche and blogs to learn from experiences of other people. Another thing that has become quite popular online is gambling. Unfortunately, some people do get addicted to it which affects their life. This is why it is not considered a positive thing.
1175  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How much have you won/lost on bitcoin gambling ? on: May 06, 2018, 03:27:04 PM
And still you wouldn’t be willing to leave gambling even when you have lost a much bigger amount. How much fun and ease it would have been if you have invested this amount in some business or somewhere else from where you can take your amount back which would have been doubled by that time. seriously, if I would have been at your place, I would never ever have seen gambling again.

People will not understand all this till they face the loss themselves. When I see your advice today, it sounds very logical to me but if I was receiving it at the time when I was addicted o gambling, I would have simply ignored it. He has got his lesson, hope he will not repeat this in future. Once a person gets involved with a profitable business, he will have no time for gambling as his focus would be on scaling up the profits.
1176  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Where do people post referral links? on: May 06, 2018, 03:24:44 PM
So just curious. I haven't ever been able to get good referrals from anything I have tried.  Where do people actually post these?  Their own blog, website?  Do they just have good word of mouth with actual friends?  Would love to know some thoughts out there.

You can promote in your signature itself but choose the sites carefully. It is very important to sign up for referral campaign with a reputed and legitimate online casino. There are independent regulators which verify these online casinos. If you sending referrals to a fraud casino, you will never see any earning even after they convert.
1177  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Effects of Gambling on: May 06, 2018, 03:22:30 PM
Gambling is good and makes a good impact upon one's life when it is used understanding the limitations.

Unfortunately, that comes only with bad expensive. Most of the people start at young age when there are less responsibilities and thus they could not decide on where to stop. When I look back in the past, I regret my gambling related addiction the most. It is not just about the money lost, but I also wasted a lot of time. Time is more valuable than money something I understand only now after that bitter experience.
1178  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is the most trustable and famous gambling website? on: May 06, 2018, 03:19:37 PM
There are some ways, you can check the legitimacy of a gambling website yourself. One of the easiest ways to check if the casino is legitimate or not is to take suggestion from friends who are already in this field. I always take suggestions before from past users of a website of any kind if money is involved. If they had good time with the casino, you can use it without any tension.
1179  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Trading vs Gambling on: May 06, 2018, 03:18:39 PM
Yes, gambling has more risk when compared to the trading, trading assures you the return for the invested money but in gambling it depends on the luck we may get the money back, if we lose in gambling then will lose all the money spent on the gambling, so trading is safer.

The harder you work , the luckier you get. If you see professional gamblers, they have increased the odds of winning by practicing and improving their games. In my opinion, you should first decide whether you are doing it for fun or making some good money. If it is later case, you should work on developing gaming skills which will take some time.
1180  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you play online casino? if Yes... on: May 06, 2018, 03:13:08 PM
Most of the players are playing online casinos to save time I think because they no need to go anywhere everything is at their hand and lot of fiat and crypto based sites are now available for us.And we are anonymous by playing through online with bitcoins because some of us are not comfortable in going to the gambling clubs due to personal reasons or because of religious issues but what even now gambling made easy on our hand so we are just playing in online.

Best thing I like about online casino is that it is available anytime. In case of real casinos, you can play only at fixed timings when they are open. On the other hand, online casinos are open for 24 hours. Also, since there are users from all over the world, you will always have people to play with.
