***  ALERT * WATCHONLY-GUI BUG * ALERT ***
____________________________________________

Greetings, friends at Crown! As Komodo Platform has been working around the clock to fine-tune the multiple GUI's that are the face of our Agama multiwallet and BarterDEX atomic swap protocols, there have obviously been many bugs found and many debugged. However, one bug in particular was found not only in our Agama GUI wallet, but also in the zcash4mac GUI swing wallet. It is a simple bug, but it warrants your attention. This is a potential money cost bug.

Crown (CRW) - As a Bitcoin-protocol cryptocurrency, your GUI wallet(s) may be susceptible to this bug.

ISSUE: 'watchonly' addresses appearing as your own in GUI wallet; users could potentially send funds to the address, unaware it is not theirs or available for withdrawal.  You can import <any address> and it becomes a 'watchonly' address. The GUI will display the address as yours, add its funds to your balance, and accept deposits, but cannot be withdrawn. This could be a normal address, my address, a p2sh address, satoshi's address, etc. This can be confusing to an end-user and will lead to many headaches for the developer, as is always the case with misplaced funds.

FOUND: in Komodo Platform's Agama multiwallet (fixed) and zcash4mac GUI swing wallet (@jl777b: "newest QT wallet seems ok about watch only, but not sure of older and when it was fixed")

ex. @grewalsatinder found the bug in his zcash swing wallet:

Quote from: jl777B
"satinder used zcash4mac, ie. the zcash osx GUI, not ours... the assumption is no GUI out there properly handles watch only addresses, until proven that they do... agama also had this bug, which we found and fixed, so it seems a very common bug to have"

SOLUTION: For the 'watchonly' address or any address not yours, the value 'ismine' returns false. Any such address gets filtered out.

QUESTIONS:
  • How does your recommended GUI deal with watchonly addresses?
  • Does your GUI display watchonly addresses as different than actual addresses in the wallet?

We need to experiment a bit to see which approach gets a better response triggering the bug. People WILL lose money if they send funds to a watchonly address.

Quote from: jl777B
"the t3 addresses in the 'Own Addresses' column! and they absolutely cant be as they are p2sh addresses. it is clear proof that the bug is very real and anybody that understands a p2sh address will understand it cant be something in your wallet. it is usually a multisig address, so only if it is a 1of1 multisig (possible but very silly) can you have a p2sh address that is spendable, but the wallet wont even know it... normal addresses can also be watchonly, which makes this even worse. in that case it would appear in the list of addresses just like all the others. even if you are able to spot p2sh addresses visually, it wont be enough"

I've been tasked with spreading awareness and facilitating discussion of this bug, so please let me know if you have any questions. I'll get you some answers and we can minimize the impact. We wanted to reach out directly to the developers of the 60+ coins featured on Agama and BarterDEX as the bug may have a direct impact on you (via your own GUI wallet).

- Jay

Thanks for the warning Jay, I'll make sure the right people see it.

I have removed IP / pubkey / systemnode outputs because I don't know if it is ok to share in public.

Nothing is wrong, payments should start any time now. The queue for first payment is about 6 days due to the number of new system nodes that have been set up. After your first payment, payments will arrive much more regularly.
123  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (decentralized blockexplorer coming) on: December 09, 2017, 02:09:58 PM
Not just a pump, good things are still going on for a good project

Like what?

            <crickets>

Damn i know you legendary accts want helium to grow but the amount of hate you imposing on the thread is tragic. regardless of how you feel about georgem, you still have to keep the innocent investor who has money in this project in mind. not fair to fuck them too cos you have issues with george. just saying. i know am a newb and my words probably don't count to you but if you really think about it, then you know its the truth. some ppl just randomly bought into spread (me), they can't get in on the helium airdrop, so their only ticket is spread. plz consider and keep us in mind too.

Much of a newb myself. It does not take a trading / crypto wizard to see the bull crap being spewed here and the very obvious correlation to the HLM project (as far as tracking price of SPR-BTC). I have been following this since the HLM announcement; I made decent holdings of SPR back then. I promptly dumped every single SPR I held as soon as the block height for the snapshot had passed. At this point, even if HLM never launches, I made enough off the SPR ride to be way over positive (however, I eagerly await the HLM main-net).

The SPR dev is clearly shady af :
1. The dude has a patreon account for working on an open source coin of which he holds major bags
2. His forum has a fee associated with joining
3. Rarely posts any useful updates, github is DEAD (last meaningful commit is about 2 years old)
4. He rarely eruditely defends himself when accused of stuff save for calling folks roaches Smiley

I understand if Mr Georgem is busy playing with acrylic cases and raspberry pis, but this is no way to build a business. As an investor you should be appalled. As a developer you should be disgusted by the slow and frozen molasses like pace by which this crawls along. As a person you should just stay the hell away from SPR until some of the above points are resolved.

I hold 0 SPR, and am not trying to get this project to tank so I can scoop up juicy SPR on the cheap. The only fair price for this shitcoin is 0 SAT, if you are holding bags - GTFO before you get burnt. If however you are working on a "wait for this to pump so I can be out" kinda event, then godspeed friends!

Is it anymore shit than several hundred coins trading on coinmarketcap. I mean doge has no developer, the developers for bitcoindark all went to komodo etc.  I get that some of you have something against georgem but has he really committed a sin that is not a common practice in this shitosphere that we call crypto.

Heck didn't spread introduce the idea that made dash. sure he didn't follow thru with it, but at least spread envisioned it. Yeah, It sucks that i bought spread, after the helium snapshot, i might be gassed of helium if that was so but sadly spread seems to be my only ticket.

Anyway, since you guys have broken of to create nirvana at helium, why don't you just focus your attention on that thread, rather than continually coming back over here to spew hate. Again, am not saying georgem is righteous and doesn't deserve it, but it doesn't make sense that you guys still focus so much attention on this thread, when you already wiped your hand clean of it's attributes. All i can think of is pettiness, and that is not a good trait.

No, Coins101 envisaged it and then Georgem turned on his team and refused to implement it after nearly a year of saying he was working on it.

As a result, most of the SPR team sold their SPR and took their ideas to Crown  and Coins101 decided to try to salvage his SPR investment by launching Helium.

Why are some of us still posting here? Two reasons. Amazement that Georgem is still behaving the way he is and to offer words of warning to newcomers.

In my opinion, georgem is not working on SPR at all. If he was, there would be some evidence of progress. No releases for two years nearly...no activity in github.

Come on George, prove us wrong or admit you have abandoned the project! Make me look stupid...show what you've been working on for your loyal cockroaches.
124  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Electroneum a SCAM??? on: December 08, 2017, 07:13:41 PM
Also Richard Ells is barely believable as a human being, let alone someone who deserves to have raised lots of funds in an ICO; if you believe that bumbling idiot should have a business that raised $40M in an ICO then you have been truly done over by the cult of Electroneum. I guess he is believable as someone with a background in marketing, that's why they got to where they are and sucked all these people in.

You just reminded me of this tongue in cheek quote from the Financial Times.

Quote
And what a scheme it is! Electroneum is a “mobile cryptocurrency” and the brainchild of Richard Ells, whose past experience includes SiteWizard, whose services include web design, and Retortal, which makes a social media management tool and is apparently valued at over $50m. (Who values it at over $50m is unclear. The company has no outside investors and made just £10,000 of profit in the year to May 2016, according to Companies House documents.)
125  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Electroneum a SCAM??? on: December 08, 2017, 04:48:38 PM
Electroneum looks like a scammy shit right now they cant even fix the wallet issues, they intended to be a successful coin but they cant, poor developers and management,a lot of investors losts their money by joining their ICO.

Is that true ? I have not seen anything in the latest offer of electroneum developers. What actually happened to electroneum? I will soon be careful of electroneum.

I'd be unfair to call them poor developers.

HOWEVER

If you go through the list of people listed on the Electroneum website, NONE of them have any prior crypto experience at all.  In fact, their entire team seems to be be people who have worked for Ells on various marketing and web site projects for years. There is nothing wrong about that in itself, but I find it incredible that they haven't got a single person who has worked on blockchain before on their team.

No first hand knowledge.   This is on the main website page:

"Dean is the member of the team with the least sleep. With giant quantities of caffeine and all night vigils, Dean is responsible for the Electroneum blockchain development and maintenance. He also maintains and develops the C++ based server daemons required for mining and transacting in Electroneum."

It links to his LinkedIn profile.

Firstly, what in the text you have pasted says he has  Blockchain experience? And what do you see when you look at his LinkedIn profile?  Three years of web development and no C++ whatsoever..

One month of admin assistant and three years of CSS and HTML does not equip you to be writing blockchain daemons.

My point is, I'm sure he's a good kid with a bright future but their team is woefully short of experience in what is needed to deliver good blockchain apps.
126  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Electroneum a SCAM??? on: December 08, 2017, 03:26:08 PM
Has anybody actually confirmed that Electroneum have hired Hackerone?

All I have seen so far is this out of date post on a publically maintained page https://hackerone.com/electroneum

Where is the marketing? I doxed the dev team, which wasn't too hard when they post all their LinkedIn. They are big players in the internet marketing industry in England. They can do it for free!?! I even looked up the coins head guy Richard Ells and called his headquarters. I asked the secretary about Electroneum? I was transfered to a guy that asked me how he could help me with my questions. So I asked, "why aren't you marketing this ICO?". He said, "they are and more is coming." Do you see any marketing? WTF.

The ICO starts in 3 days!!

EDIT

No, it is definately not a scam.

They have raised 3 million already.

I was worried about the marketing, but now I see their ads everwhere I go on the internet, so the guy wasnt kidding when he said the marketing is coming!!

Damn!!! Ive never seen a coin hit mainstream news sites!!!

Actually i think that most of the ico's today are scamming their campaign participants, They are not paying the correct amount of coins they should pay and maybe its because of bitcoins value that is increasing massively and they did not want to spend more money for the participants.

They have around 70 million now.

They will spend it.

Already have 15% of the users as BTC.

Most number of investors in an ICO ever!!

How can you have 15% of the users of BTC when you don't have a wallet?  If you believe what you're typing, you're a fucking mug.

I am of the opinion that "crypto as a commodity" strategy is not sustainable in the future.

This is especially true for the projects that tout themselves as payment systems.  Volatility is an undesirable characteristic for payment currencies.

Weekly Crown Update 27th November to 4th December 2017

First Commercial Hardware on Crown

We are proud to announce that we have secured a partnership with G-ME. G-ME is a tracking and communication device for children, families, elderly people and more that can enable them to register the device and its identity on the Crown blockchain. Our blockchain works as an immutable database, and the emergency information G-ME will provide cannot be counterfeited. This means that no one can change your blood type or emergency phone number. It is important to reiterate that personal information such as location, emergency phones, and diseases won't be available publically because it's not written to the blockchain in plaintext. It uses one-way encryption (hash) to do that, so the result cannot be decrypted and it doesn't reveal any information about personal data. This will be the first project built on Crown!

New Team Members

Two new team members have joined us starting today. The new developer has many years of experience in software engineering and architecture of different projects like enterprise security systems, forensics software, distributed systems etc. On previous projects, he worked as a senior developer, development coordinator and software architect. He will be working on governance part of Crown. Another team member will take the leading role of QA on the project. He also has many years of software testing experience and 2 ISTQB qualifications in testing. He worked as a senior quality analyst, and previously as a test manager and test team lead

We have worked with our marketing team to produce posts and ads that have been out since Tuesday. We have seen a great uptick in the community growth in just a few days since this effort has started and we expect the growth to continue.

I don't have their token but I am interested to buy. I am not sure if where can I buy though since based on their website they are still fixing their system because of the security threat or something that happened earlier. Hope they'd be able to fix it soon though. As for the scam issue, I've read some part of their ANN and based on the news, I don't think it is a scam for now.

You can buy at ETN on Cryptopia exchange right now. Currently trading at 6x to 10x depending on when you bought into the ICO due to bonuses

ETN is worth $0 until ICO participants have access to their coins and can trade on the market.

When 2% of crown has been sold in the last few days, it also means that alot of new people have gotten crown.
As this community expands the price will more likely rise in a more healthy way.

I have seen plenty of people already joining on the mattermost channel, most of them already with system or masternodes. Also, with over 2000 systemnodes up and running, this is really taking shape!

Also a systemnode gives you 43.06% return on investment!

How do I join "mattermost channel"?
Where can I find that?

I own a systemnode since one week ago so I count as one of these new people :-)

Looking forward to welcoming you there.

If you read a few posts back, you will see that a former team member dumped a lot of coins.  He explained his reasoning perhaps one page ago.

I'm loving these free bumps from our favourite amateur troll from India.

Quit heads up to the community.  We're just about to start moving towards migrating away from Github and towards using Gitlab.

I have just finished the initial configuration of our own Gitlab server, we'll be letting people know about our migration plans in the near future.

We're remaining open source, there's just a lot of benefits from using Gitlab over Github.

Anyway, its fantastic that we have some news about what the last few months of price supression has been down to.  Sad that one person can throttle a project so effectively regardless of their intentions. Onwards and upwards.

Really???  Wow, just wow.  That's a pathetic way to make a living, by lying and swindling.  Unfortunately, there are quite a few other nicks that I've come across in BCTalk who act the same as that scammer.

I never used to think that the rumours about these people were real, at least not since the very early days of bitcoin when it was possible to manipulate the price with some well-placed forum comments. But price-trolling is an industry. There are groups of people who do it 'professionally' - FUD the price down, buy low, then either hype it, pump it or just let the market do its thing and sell high. Rinse, repeat. I know this happens because at least one of the guys who did it with a coin I've been involved in admitted it afterwards - saying it had all been FUD was part of the hype process.

That's assuming this isn't just some guy with mental health issues and too much time on his hands. That happens too.

Yup.  Shilling and FUDing works.  That's why BCT is flooded with farmed accounts who you will see posting inane one liners all day every day.

In some ways, Crown is on a back foot because we refuse to do it but we still feel strongly that our approach will prevail in time.  Especially as and when the wheels come off the ICO hysteria.

I have seen projects, some not too far away from us, hiring 600 bots/people to retweet their tweets.  Another project, of significant publicity, has hired over 500 people from a "marketing company" in Pakistan to shill their project. You don't have to look too far into my post history to see which projects these are. Its baffling.

Crown has over 5,000 twitter followers grown organically. This is much more valuable than fake statistics to appear to be popular.  That said, it works.

Same guy, same story, repeated many times.

I'm not going to quote him because I think he's trying to rack up points also by posting junk.

But yes, new folks reading this, please don't just take his word for it, please do read his previous posts from before and decide for yourself if indeed, he may be the scam his nick suggests.

His trust rating and need to hide behind several aliases says it all.  He's on Twitter too. Seems to spend sustained periods of time trying to drag down a project before buying in.

Lol, I bet he thinks he is behind the recent CRW price drops too.  Wouldn't surprise me if if he was that deluded.

Back in the day, when I was part of the Dash team, he used to spend hours calling out Dash as a scam using a similar alias. Maybe he just follows me around.
