121  Economy / Economics / Re: Counting the cost of a ww3. on: April 14, 2024, 06:42:15 AM
Hopefully this recent conflict between Iran & Israel does not escalate too much further. With any luck, sensible discussions take place & there is no escalation, nobody wants a war with larger countries getting involved. I hope there is peace, nobody needs to see any more innocent casualties.
122  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Solana might be next leading, after Ether & bnb. on: April 13, 2024, 12:58:28 PM
Solana is very useful, fees are way lower than its main competitor Ethereum. It’s fast & it’s cheaper to buy. Solana can definitely take the number one altcoin spot away from Ethereum but it simply has to stop having these downtimes which seem to happen too often, that’s the only thing stopping it replacing Ethereum as number one altcoin.
123  Other / Politics & Society / Re: I disagree that each person has the right to choose their own path in life. on: April 13, 2024, 12:53:32 PM
In a normal society everybody should have the option of pursuing their own dreams & goals. They shouldn’t be restricted in any type of career of lifestyle choices. Religion stops some people doing certain things but it’s not right, we should all be able to freely make our own choices.
124  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DONT BUY THIS $DUMB COIN on: April 13, 2024, 09:40:49 AM
It’s early bull market, crazy things happen during peak bull phase of the market so we can all laugh at coins like this & mock it but this kind of coin can go crazy & moon so let’s hold the laughs & rude remarks for now.
125  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which coin is more profitable? on: April 12, 2024, 03:06:41 PM
Bitcoin is the best investment, possibly in the world as a full package. It bests inflation, it is receiving increasing adoption, it has 15 years of proven track record. It might not be the most profitable now though because we see somewhat diminishing returns but I prefer a safer, more guaranteed 4 or 5 x profit every 5-10 years than gambling on some shitcoin which may yield much higher returns but is far from guaranteed.
126  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Excessive Bitcoin fees on: April 12, 2024, 02:29:10 PM
Just checked & currently 133 sat/vB so you are looking at over $13 for a medium priority transaction. It has to ordinals spammers. Luckily they don’t seem as rampant at the moment, it comes in bursts which are much rater so in a few hours it should be a lot cheaper to send Bitcoin. Unless it's urgent you should be patient & wait until fees are lower.
127  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Upon the death of a bitcoin user. on: April 12, 2024, 01:28:32 PM
It’s certainly something to think about, you do not want your loved ones to be unable to access your Bitcoin if you die. You can use multisig with trusted people who don’t know each other. Tell your loved ones who those people are & upon your death they can contact them & then be able to access the Bitcoin. Failing that it’s pretty simple to leave private keys in a safe at your home & put the code to the safe in your will or something. There are many ways, get inventive.
128  Economy / Economics / Re: April 10 CPI Print came in hot on: April 12, 2024, 12:21:20 PM
Maybe we have to live with higher for longer but it’s not much to worry about in my opinion. I still expect to see rste cuts this year, maybe we wait until June but there should still be one or two cuts. I hope to see multiple cuts in 2025 which should coincide nicely with the next crypto bull run.
129  Economy / Economics / Re: Will inflation become big challenge for retired people after 10-20 years? on: April 12, 2024, 12:13:37 PM
Rising inflation can definitely become a problem for retired people. As the prices of goods & services increase the purchasing power of their retirement savings may diminish. This means that retired individuals may find it more challenging to afford the same standard of living as inflation rises. It’s important for retirees to carefully manage their finances, consider investment options that provide protection against inflation & adjust their spending habits to mitigate the impact of rising prices.
130  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Lightning Network: A failure? on: April 10, 2024, 10:27:50 AM
It’s not a failure, it’s just going to take time. Layer 1 Bitcoin is still niche in the mainstream so it’s going to take a lot longer before people are using Layer 2 to for example buy coffee with Bitcoin. Big changes in life, new tech takes a long time before it gains widespread mainstream adoption, have some patience.
131  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I'm all in on kin coin now, but.... on: April 10, 2024, 10:11:51 AM
This coin has been around for quote a while & it’s still alive. Marketcap is relatively healthy, I would be interested to see what happens with it in this bull run. It had a big blow off top in 2020, it’s traded quite flat for a while now, it could pump hard again but this is not a coin to hodl long term. It it goes parabolic this bull run get out.
132  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would you advise a friend in the same way? on: April 10, 2024, 09:19:27 AM
I would tell him to invest in Bitcoin, there isn’t any need for the Microstrategy Bitcoin proxy. Just buy spot Bitcoin & hold, it will perform better over medium to long term than any fund like S&P500. I think we will see more & more businesses buying Bitcoin now but it'll probably be through Spot ETFs as companies will feel more confident doing that than buying & self custody themselves.
133  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Frogmoon (FROG) @ Mexc on: April 10, 2024, 09:00:05 AM
Are you in any way trying to promote the shitcoin?

And this project is not a new one; it has been pumped and dumped in the past, and it's just trying to rise up again, which means I can't consider it a good project to invest in.

Adding to the fact that it's just got a trading volume that is even below $10,000, it's a red flag for me. No investor is interested in that project.

Agree, it doesn’t look like something you should invest too much, if anything, into at this moment. Maybe it could pump hard when the bull run really starts to move but at this point it is not something anybody should be rushing to buy. It’s highly illiquid, I would recommend to proceed with extreme caution if you are thinking about buying.
134  Economy / Economics / Re: Accepting Bitcoin for paying tax on: April 10, 2024, 08:36:22 AM
Bitcoin being used & accepted as a means of payment for any type of goods or service is a good thing. Unfortunately paying taxes is required in most countries. I certainly wouldn’t use Bitcoin to pay income tax but if somebody wants to & the law permits it in that country then no problem.
135  Other / Politics & Society / Re: why would someone think of suicide? on: April 09, 2024, 12:16:28 PM
We never know what people are going through, what’s going on behind closed doors. It could be because of a traumatic event during childhood, a marriage break up, financial difficulties, depression, literally anything. I don’t judge people but if you are feeling suicidal please see a professional, there is help out there.
136  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: how do you think meme coinis? on: April 09, 2024, 11:29:37 AM
There are dozens of other threads discussing meme coins on the forum, you could have used the search function & posted in an existing thread. My opinion on meme coins though is that if you hit the right one you can become wealthy but there are lots & it can be difficult to buy the right one. Don't over allocate funds into a meme coin because most of them fail & even those that pump, you can be too slow & not sell in time. It’s a jungle out there, be careful.
137  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why Would Anyone Be Against Self Defense? on: April 09, 2024, 11:06:36 AM
Self defence should be a human right in every country, no government or law enforcement agency should ever outlaw the right to defend yourself with reasonable force if you are in danger. Obviously you can’t go round attacking people & claiming self defence but if you fear for your safety you should always be able to defend yourself.
138  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What could be the best of Solana NFTs? on: April 09, 2024, 10:13:14 AM
Chads are up over 75% in the last 24 hours but I agree with mk4 in a few posts above that Mad Lads have the highest potential to totally dominate the SOL NFT space. The marketcap is over 1.2 million SOL so they are no joke, If you’re looking to buy & hold a reputable NFT collection then they are a good one to own.
139  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Solana - worth it in 2024? on: April 09, 2024, 10:07:25 AM
The all too often network downtime is really not good, it’s something that could potentially ruin Solana’s chances of surviving & flourishing in an increasingly mainstream cryoto accepting world. I have seen people saying online that they haven’t been able to use the Solana network for 3 days, it is simply not sustainable if devs can’t finally stop downtimes. I actually like Solana a lot, it needs to be more reliable though.
140  Economy / Speculation / Re: Your educated guess on BTC price at the end of 2024 on: April 06, 2024, 07:22:22 PM
Current price action looks good, currently hovering just under ATH from 2021. The block reward halving is in under two weeks, things are looking bullish. I am going to confidently predict the price will be over 90,000 USD but maybe under 100,000 USD possibly because of the psychological thing there. The blow off top & peak will be at some time during 2025.
