681  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What motivated you to join the forum? on: September 16, 2023, 10:32:20 AM
I got into bitcoin in 2015, there weren’t all that many places to chat to experienced bitcoin guys so I simply Googled & found this forum. I have to admit it’s a great source of info & you can soak up advice from more experienced users. As a newbie this place is far superior to learn than say Twitter (X) for example.
682  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is your take on Mt. Gox refund ? on: September 15, 2023, 08:47:38 PM
It’s a bit of a dark cloud over the space but I’m goad it will finally get resolved so the FUD on it is over. I have mixed thoughts about what could happen. I mean the obvious thing is big FUD & a mass dumping of coins that have been inaccessible for so long. On the other hand, these guys have waited for so long, they’ve seen bitcoin go from basically nothing to what it is now. Massive after not being able to sell, they will now HODL so the dump won’t be that bad.
683  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will there be a boom again? on: September 15, 2023, 07:37:12 PM
You should invest your money in bitcoin NOW. I advise against putting much money into alts, it’s a bit of a lottery, roulette you could say. History is littered with alt scams, rugpulls & unscrupulous behaviour. There will be another boom of course, you’re just in time to catch it in the next couple of years if you buy now.
684  Economy / Economics / Re: 1.34 trillion asset manager Deutsche Bank to offer Bitcoin service on: September 15, 2023, 07:05:30 PM
Institutional investing & custodianship will have a much bigger role to play in the next couple of years than in previous times. Bitcoin is in big demand & they all want their slice of the pie. Institutions were very wary & doubtful about the value of bitcoin until fairly recently. They are going to have to get involved soon though or miss out on a huge wave of adoption & the profits that come with that.
685  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Thorough analysis: Terms&Conditions & Privacy on crypto exchanges !BE WARNED! on: September 14, 2023, 01:36:52 PM
Extremely thorough & helpful OP, thanks for dropping this for the community. I think it’s every bitcoin bro’s worst nightmare isn’t it, having funds frozen or withdrawals limited. Not your keys etc etc, blah blah, we all deposit bitcoin or other crypto to exchanges & place limit sell orders during a bull run. Obviously you’re not storing your bitcoin on there per se but for a limited time some of your coins could/will be on a third party exchange to allow you to sell. Obviously it’s the same for buying in a bear market, you will have a load of fiat on there ready for limit buy orders to trigger. Just DYOR with regards to the T&C’s & never expose yourself by leaving more than 10% of your net worth on an exchange at any time.
686  Economy / Economics / Re: for anyone interested in how much their personal data is worth on: September 14, 2023, 11:27:19 AM
It sucks getting your data sold online but there are a few things you can do to limit it. Try to use strong unique passwords, enable two factor authentication, keep devices & software updated. Limit personal information shared online, get a reputable VPN for encrypted internet traffic. Try to remember to review & adjust privacy settings. Even something as simple as not clicking on suspicious links or downloading unknown files can help. Always use reputable antivirus software & keep it updated.
687  Economy / Economics / Re: If the global economy collapses what's the first thing you do? on: September 14, 2023, 10:48:40 AM
If the global economy collapsed the first thing you should do is focus on securing your basic needs like food, water & shelter. Check your resources & identify ways to sustain yourself & your loved ones. You should connect with your community as people coming together & supporting each other can provide a sense of stability & shared resources during challenging times. Obviously having bitcoin is great but if we are talking a true economic collapse then food, water & shelter are the most vital things.
688  Economy / Speculation / Re: Good time to sell? on: September 14, 2023, 09:18:24 AM
A simple question to those who are hoping to profit on the next Bitcoin bull-run:
How do you determine when is the good time to sell?
in other words: how would you know we've reached the peak?

Do you have a set "goal" price at which you'd be selling no matter what happens? Do you intend to sell incrementally as the price goes up? Or maybe when the price gradually drops (e.g. it goes down for X days in a row), indicating we're past the peak?

You’re never going to sell the exact top but there are clues when to sell some. Obviously never sell your entire stack, that’s just insanity. There are many charts & models that tell you when the market is overbought which could indicate a top such as following the RSI. Do your own research though, some point from Q2 of 2025 towards the end of the year is a good time to sell some.
689  Economy / Economics / Re: Was just watching the big short. Why do the times suddenly feel similar? on: September 14, 2023, 08:10:26 AM
Could we be on the verge of some crazy market crashes like in 2008?

The possibility of a market crash is always there but it’s difficult to predict when or if it will happen. The 2008 financial crisis was caused by a combination of factors including the subprime mortgage crisis, the collapse of Lehman Brothers & the failure of other financial institutions. There are some similarities between the current economic climate and 2008, there are also big differences. The global economy has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic & central banks have taken measures to mitigate the impact. Always keep an eye on market trends & be prepared for any eventuality.
690  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How much Bitcoin is needed to buy iPhone 15? on: September 13, 2023, 02:20:14 PM
All I think when seeing how much money it costs to upgrade to the latest model is, how stupid are these people. I guess mostly these devices are on two year contracts or something so it’s not a one off payment. The money could be used much more intelligently elsewhere, for example DCA into bitcoin. We are a world that is obsessed with gadgets & consumerism is King, I would prefer to allocate funds elsewhere personally.
691  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Has anybode suggested the idea of "crypto-communes"? on: September 13, 2023, 01:50:49 PM
Many people have suggested bitcoin citadels but I think it’s mostly said tongue in cheek. I certainly wouldn’t want to live in some kind of eccentric, cult like setting. Obviously I’m sure some people could see it as desirable but not for me. Maybe if the world was ending or we were under some kind of government attack it could be a good idea but in a normal situation, no thanks.
692  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is not going to $12k. on: September 13, 2023, 01:42:15 PM
$12,000 would be awful, I do not foresee a dump that deep. It would take something tragic like WW3 starting or a Great Depression for that to come to fruition. However, if there was an event that created a market sell off that severe, you should all buy as much as you can afford to because $12,000 would be a gift which would be short lived.
693  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Owner of 8K bitcoin lost in landfill threatens to bankrupt local council on: September 13, 2023, 12:45:17 PM
This guy needs to give up, it’s his own stupid fault. He threw it out years ago, like the OP said it’s probably totally destroyed. Even if isn’t, he can pay himself to exhume no doubt thousands of tonnes of shit pressed deep into the earth to try & find it. I don’t see how this anybody else’s fault or responsibility except his.
694  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Gun-Free School Zones & Shootings Statistics (2023 Updated) on: September 13, 2023, 11:13:33 AM
School shootings, as are any kind of fatal shooting, a tragic event. Sadly it will never stop in a country where it’s so easy to be able to get hold of a gun. It’s part of American heritage, the right to bear arms so I don’t see the potential for school shootings going down any time soon. I think it’s been discussed before about an armed guard being in every school at all times but government make excuses about the cost being too high.
695  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Another reason and proof to keep funds in your wallet not in an exchange on: September 13, 2023, 10:54:41 AM
You would think after so many hacks & untrustworthy actions by third party custodians, that people would no longer store their crypto anywhere other than a device or seed, paper wallet etc that is only controlled or accessible by them.
Sadly you can not force people to take the reasonable precautions to avoid this type of thing. It will keep happening whilst people continue to be dumb enough to leave their coins/tokens on exchanges.
696  Economy / Economics / Re: Teaching My Nephews About Wealth Through the Game of Monopoly on: September 12, 2023, 08:14:15 AM
Teaching kids about money through the game Monopoly is a good idea. Monopoly is a fun & engaging way for children to learn budgeting, saving & making strategic financial decisions. It teaches them about the importance of managing their finances, making investments & dealing with unexpected expenses. I guess it encourages critical thinking, negotiation skills & understanding the concept of risk and reward. It’s a great tool to introduce children to real world money management in an enjoyable & educational way.
697  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Pray For Morocco on: September 09, 2023, 06:39:07 PM
Seriously? The best shot your got at getting help is asking people to pray? I think it would be much more useful to ask for help and international support, but the best thing your could actually do for the people of Morocco is firstly get rid of your monarch, which seems to care too much for his German friend and gang and little for his "subjects" and then keep on getting rid of the kleptocracy and have a chance to become the great country it could be.

With all respect there isn’t much any normal person can do from another continent to help. Maybe you should fly out there & give your support or donate or something if you want to ridicule others for showing feelings towards the tragedy. I would be full of support for abolishing the Monarchy but that’s another discussion. Hopefully the UN & all other organisations of that type provide food, shelter & help to those directly affected. Please do share your experiences of yourself out there helping, photos etc if you want to ridicule others for posting about it online then surely you will be out there on the ground helping.
698  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which is currently the best crypto to invest in? on: September 09, 2023, 05:05:29 PM
When it comes to investing in cryptocurrencies it's vital you conduct thorough research & make informed decisions based on your individual goals and risk appetite. Always DYOR but the most solid, safe cryptocurrencies that have gained attention and recognition are Bitcoin & ETH. It’s crucial to stay updated on market trends, news etc before making any investment decisions. Remember investing always carries risks so it's advisable to proceed cautiously.
699  Economy / Economics / Re: Building wealth it's not just one time Luck on: September 09, 2023, 02:21:42 PM
Not many things that are really good come easily, building wealth is no different. You could have limited access to quality education & resources which can hinder financial knowledge & skills necessary for wealth accumulation. Economic disparities, systemic inequalities & a lack of opportunities can handicap you. Building wealth requires discipline, long term planning & patience which can be difficult. You could say a lot of luck is even needed.

There could be unforeseen circumstances like economic downturns or personal setbacks that can impact wealth building efforts. But with determination, financial literacy & strategic decision making it is possible to overcome these obstacles & build wealth.
700  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Pray For Morocco on: September 09, 2023, 01:27:53 PM
Terrible news, I hope & pray many of the people lost or unaccounted for are found OK. For all those who have lost their lives, may they rest in peace & their loved ones recover eventually.
