1101  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin hits 500 GB size hard disk data on: March 31, 2023, 10:59:36 AM
1TB is enough for many years to come.

I was worried about this a while ago. I really don’t want to do prune mode, I’m happy running a full node. My current laptop will do the job for a while yet.

I’m still running trusty 0.17.0

I really don’t like upgrading, verifying my download always concerns me.
1102  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is ARB a rising star ? on: March 31, 2023, 09:04:13 AM
I didn’t receive the airdrop but I’ve been watching Arbitrum from the sidelines. It’s dumped (expectedoy after the airdrop) from $8.67 to $1.16.

It could go either way but it’s definitely worth throwing a couple of hundred dollars in just incase. Some people think it could replicate what Solana did in the last bull cycle.
1103  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Be Cautious of honeypot token on: March 30, 2023, 10:22:04 PM
Avoiding this is pretty simple if you;
• Ignore unsolicited messages. They usually send this to social media accounts which has a link to the crypto industry, either from what is on your feed or your bio,
• Do not apply for random airdrops, avoid them entirely if you can,

If it's too good to be true, it probably is.

Good advice especially the bolded. Unheard of, new airdrops are very dangerous. There are way too many grifters trying to take advantage of naive, hoping to get rich quick investors.

Only recently people were getting scammed by people taking advantage of dumb people around the Arbitrum airdrop. Seriously when something looks too good to be true, it almost certainly is. Nobody gets given loads of money easily, life doesn’t work like that.
1104  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Elon musk still market booster? on: March 30, 2023, 09:38:38 PM
I don’t think Elon FUD can harm bitcoin any more (well not harm, but affect price short term). I think the market has matured even since he was spewing rubbish about mining energy use.

I do however think that if Tesla started accepting bitcoin again for payment the price would have a short term pump.

Elon can probably still pump shitcoins with silly immature tweets. Low liquidity coins are a lot easier to pump, I do think he enjoys doing that.
1105  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Price Predictions? on: March 30, 2023, 09:19:03 PM
$35000 in April would be great, it feels like a long time since the spot price was at $35000. We have a lot of issues in the banking system right now so there is always the chance of contagion which spills over into risk on assets. Hopefully the worst is over & we don’t head into a recession, bitcoin can then thrive & rally towards the halving. Short term though, $35000 would be sweet.
1106  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Study Bitcoin on: March 30, 2023, 09:12:10 PM
It was bitcoin guys doing it as a mild troll but mostly to bring attention to people about bitcoin. Central banks have been screwing us for a very long time. The fractional reserve system is a total scam, a literal ponzi scheme & it’s starting to unravel.

Hopefully many people see the logo & decide to look further into bitcoin & what it can do for them. Fiat banking is under severe pressure, buying bitcoin is a hedge against it.
1107  Economy / Economics / Re: MicroStrategy Buys $250M in Bitcoin, Calling the Crypto ‘Superior to Cash’ on: March 30, 2023, 08:03:20 PM
Saylor is a real Chad, the fact he’s been buying all the way down, despite being underwater shows real conviction by himself & Microstrategy. You could call it ultimate dollar cost averaging.

I expect Microstrategy to become one of the wealthiest companies in the world during the next bull run, purely due to their bitcoin investments.

1108  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Binance establishes another regional hub in Europe amid US spat on: March 30, 2023, 02:34:27 PM
CS is an extremely smart guy, he is probably already several steps ahead of regulators at all times. Binance is a huge corporation now, he will be surrounded by very intelligent people, the best lawyers etc. You don’t need to worry about Binance, they will be able to withstand a lot of firepower from regulators & nation states before they even get close to being in serious trouble.
1109  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Sam Bankman-Fried is the most efficiency promoter of: not your key not your coin on: March 30, 2023, 12:40:10 PM
Just browsing through & saw this thread, it’s only on page 2. I guess this thread didn’t age too well did it. If he was that good at advocating nyknyc then he wouldn’t have had the opportunity to steal billions of customer deposits for his own personal gain.

I think some people just get too comfortable & too trusting in our industry. Either that or they’re just top dumb to take self custody of their coins. It’s sad that 10 years after Gox we still have people storing their wealth on centralised exchanges. What more needs to happen to drum in self custody.

I guess it always happens to somebody else and it won’t happen to me until it does…..
1110  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Avoiding constant intake of sweetened substances and why? on: March 29, 2023, 10:59:06 AM
Too much sugar is known to really contribute to obesity which can lead to huge problems like heart disease, obesity & even some cancers. Nobody expects you to live like a monk & cut out all of life's little treats but it’s a really good idea to look after your health, have a good diet which obviously means limiting over use of sugars & processed meals.

Drink water when you can, avoid too much sugary foods, alcohol & fast food to give yourself the best chance of a long, healthy life.
1111  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Bald men discrimination on: March 29, 2023, 09:30:21 AM
I think it used to be funny, kinda to laugh at bald men. Don’t most of them just shave it all off now though? I mean unless you’re Doctor Phil off the TV take a razor to it & it’s like nothing happened. Look at guys like Vin Diesel & Bruce Willis, The Rock, it never stopped them doing anything. You don’t need to feel sorry for these guys, they can fight their own battles.
1112  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Marriage: Character or Beauty? on: March 28, 2023, 07:30:28 PM
OP, you shouldn’t care one bit about what anybody says about your wife. As long as you have a great relationship & love each other than anything else is outside noise & isn’t important  Great looks don’t last so remember, all the people with beautiful wives better hope they have a great personality too because eventually the looks are going to fade & that’s what they’ll be left with.
1113  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Investment involves being realistic, doesn't it ? on: March 28, 2023, 04:34:17 PM
Taking good profit is always nice but it’s never a good idea to sell everything (100% of a coin/token).
For example, if you were to sell all your bitcoin or ethereum (the two top coins) at some point with no plan to ever but back in, it’d be totally stupid.

Take some profit off the table if it improves your quality of life but always keep some skin in the game. There’s nothing worse than watching a coin/token you previously owned moon.
1114  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin can't become world currency (at least now). on: March 26, 2023, 12:30:59 PM
Bitcoin doesn’t need to be the World Reserve Currency to change the world. The US is doing a great job of devaluing the $ & making their fiscal policy a complete joke. The FED is ruining lives with mindless money printing which causes unprecedented inflation. To be honest, bitcoin would be a great World Reserve Currency as it’s transparent, has a fixed supply & is decentralised unlike the $.

Bitcoin won’t be the World Reserve Currency for now, it definitely has the possibility to in the future though. Just as we once lived on a gold standard, we can in the future live on a bitcoin standard. It will not be in the immediate future though.

Just keep stackin’ sats & let the fiat banking system collapse. Prepare for change!
1115  Other / Serious discussion / Re: How much money is enough money? on: March 26, 2023, 07:59:13 AM
At what point will one say that he or she has had enough money?

It’s a really tough question to answer because over time the $ continues to lose purchasing power. What might have been enough to retire 50 years ago would likely not be enough to retire now.

If for example you were 50 years old, I think you’d probably need $2,500,000 or something like that, plus a passive income from a pension to retire & fully enjoy life, not stressing about running out of money. If you asked me this question even 10 years ago my answer might have been $1,500,000.

This is why we buy bitcoin though Wink
1116  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which kind of situation will force you to sell? on: March 25, 2023, 11:18:57 PM
I always sell some during raging bull markets & then buy back when the price crashes in harsh bear markets. Being forced to sell implies selling in unfavourable situations. To answer the question, reasons that would force me to sell would be something like losing my job or a large medical bill that my insurance wouldn’t cover, maybe large structural damage to a home from a lightning strike (freak situations).

It’s never good to sell in emergencies but I guess if you have no other way of paying for something then you’ve got to do what you’ve got to do. I would hate to have to sell a large % of my holdings during unfavourable market conditions though.
1117  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ordinals - NFTs on Bitcoin network on: March 25, 2023, 10:41:17 PM
I think they are a waste of time & do nothing constructive. I think it’s trolling, filling up blocks with crap. I don’t think they have any future as a means of trade, money orientated. Nobody who is serious about bitcoin wants anything to do with them.
1118  Other / Politics & Society / Re: There's a new table has been built and U.S does not have a seat at it. on: March 25, 2023, 09:38:12 PM
The US dollar is weakening and you need to remember that the good relations between Russia and China are now starting to cause concern for the US where open payments can be made via Yuan.

This is the main concern right here. The recent meeting between Xi & Putin seemed to have gone well.

“Right now there are changes – the likes of which we haven’t seen for 100 years – and we are the ones driving these changes together”

Putin responded: “I agree.”

1119  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Signature Bank didn't collapse. It got killed. [SEC Vs Crypto] on: March 25, 2023, 09:14:22 PM
Banks all over the Western World seem to be trying to create obstacles to stop people off boarding into cryptocurrency. There seem to be bans & limits on people buying cryptocurrency with their fiat banks. Governments are running scared, their ponzi banks are blowing up, they are illiquid, broke organisations. They want to stop or limit the amount of cryptocurrency you can buy with fiat cuck bucks. Do your best to invest in whatever cryptocurrency you like ASAP before they bring in CBDC’s.
1120  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Don't rush life.. on: March 25, 2023, 08:05:34 PM
Life is too short so I would advise you to do everything you can to enjoy it as much as you can as often as you can. Don’t spend time doing things that are of no value to you & don’t waste time with people who aren’t good for you.

The only guaranteed thing in life is death, we are all going to die so make the most of every day you have on earth alive. Always try to be the best version of yourself possible & live with no regrets.
