Have you seen this thread?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2850321.0

Most of the topics were designed for post review for a possibility of merit, although most of them are closed now.

I know Jet Cash has some good tools for people to improve their English and posting activity. Ya, I'm sure a lot of good post get lost in all the muck, but I think that if someone really wants to learn and get better through this forum they will over time.
122  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Recent Motives fro investing into cryptocurrency and There Market effects on: September 13, 2018, 02:12:44 PM
Different investors in the cryptocurrency nowadays invest for one reason or the other. The investment can be as a result of the Tech aspect of the project and it can also be for buy/sell for profit motive.
Most of the recent investors are into a project just for profit motive and care less about the technology aspect of the project concerned. Most of these investors are majorly engaged in panic selling which end up dragging the token's price down which has ended up killing some project or plunder them into a mess difficult to regain from.

This is nothing new.

There is a lot of speculation in these markets, yes.

But to say that panic selling "plunders" a project is not true, especially for older alt coins that did not ICO because their fate doesn't rest on the price of the capital they raised from ICO (mostly crypto).

One of the recent catalysts for ETH dumping is the supposed sell-off of companies that ICO'd in 2018. If on the other hand a company got a private seed investment then they would be in alot better shape.

This is just another market cycle for alt-coins, they will come back for sure.
123  Other / Meta / Re: Which discussion board to visit to really learn about cryptocurrency? on: September 12, 2018, 09:18:34 PM
Thanks! Right now my goal is to buy bitcoins first, then trade later on when I have really learned everything I can about trading.

Nice dude! I don't know if you have been into crypto before or not, but you could potentially be choosing to get into bitcoin at a really good time! The sentiment is really poor right now and the bitcoin price has mostly been going sideways (trading around $6k-$6500, tight range) for a while. This is all after a HUGE selloff from 19k, so this could be the bottom, so great spot for you to invest!

I mean, I certainly do not want to lose my hard earned money just because I started trading without fully understanding how it works.

Definitely learn all you can before you start actively trading, don't go off and start trading your bitcoin on bitmex with huge leverage because you are sure to get rekt and liquidated. I would stay away from using any leverage at all even when you learn more about trading.

I have also heard and read about scammers and hackers so I am being cautious about these things.

I would say the most important thing about security is 2FA (2 factor authentication), also get an email address solely for crypto activities to use for all your crypto accounts. Here is an OK steem article talking about exchanges and cold storage.
https://steemit.com/cryptocurrency/@cryptohero.info/cryptocurrency-security-101-exchanges-aren-t-safe

But honestly don't go waaayy out of your way to get all your coins in cold storage, unless you have alot. These exchanges today are held at such a higher security standard than they were in 2013/2014, especially the top tier ones. So if you use coinbase and have 2FA and a strong password then I wouldn't worry too much about storing your BTC on there. Some people may disagree but thats just my opinion....I mean shit they are insured.

As for YouTube videos, do you have any recommended YouTube channels I can check out that is reliable?

Even though James quit posting a long time ago, these videos are really good to give you a foundation like understanding of bitcoin. I would watch a couple of these to get started.
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgo7FCCPuylVk4luP3JAgVw/videos

Man there are sooo many youtubers now-a-days, honestly I only follow a couple of them because MOST of them will just shill you their favorite coin and tell you their "Top 5 Coins to buy".....not really give you good information.

Carter Thomas is good and also is Chris Dunn, I respect their morals, Chris Dunn only covers crypto from time to time but his information is really good.
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4nXWTjZqK4bv7feoRntSog

Good luck dude, wish you the best!
124  Economy / Economics / Re: Tech advances should make 4-day workweek a reality for the 21st century on: September 12, 2018, 04:41:51 PM
What can be said of inflation and its outpacing of wage growth? How likely is such a thing likely to become widespread or popularized in a world where robots and automation is becoming more widely supported everyday?

Well there is no doubt in my mind that in the next 3-4 decades we will see a drastic loss in jobs due to AI and robotics, the idea of a universal basic income has become even that much more common amongst policy makers because of this.
But I wonder how a universal basic income would even fit into crypto or even at all ya know? I guess with inflation of fiat money a basic income would make sense.

That said does anyone have an impression calls for a 4 day work week may be a tad bit over optimistic in origins?

I know that there will still be an enormous amount of jobs in the tertiary sector (services) and the quanternary sector(information services). For example who wants to be waited on by a robot at a restaurant? I know I wouldn't, then again
a robot would probably be able to keep my drink full vs a human. But I know for sure a robot couldn't do the job I do on a daily basis (GIS), not saying im smart or amazing or anything, just that it would take a seriously advanced robot to
do certain desk jobs. With that said I think a 4 day work week will apply mostly to sectors slowly being replaced by robotics.

Like birds migrating south for the winter, a better migration pattern to crypto currencies could represent a greener pasture for the dawn of future financial and economic progress

To this I agree that the world will benefit from P2P systems and tech, when the world is more open and available for everyone to reap the benefits of borderless finance. It goes to the point of all the 3rd world countries skipping decades of fiat
sytems and getting on par modern tech.

Just my 2 cents, thanks.

Something I can learn about proper trading and buying cryptos

Try this board to get an idea for where to buy and sell:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=223.0

There is also some good discussion from time to time on this board:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=8.0

Here is a decent post about charts/charting:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2082863.msg20819440#msg20819440

It really kind of depends what exactly you are looking for, if you want to learn the basics of how to buy and sell on a certain exchange then it's probably best to just youtube a tutorial since it's much easier to watch and learn from a video rather than text and images on a forum.

If you are looking for more advanced technical analysis stuff like the image below, then go to Tone Vay's website and follow his learn trading tutorial, he is one of the best trading mentors out there and has good morals when it comes to bitcoin.

126  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do traders pay income taxes? on: September 11, 2018, 03:40:32 PM
I'd like to start trading, but what happens when you get profit from a new coin? you pay taxes as individual (like capital gain) or you must open a registered company?

You don't have to be a registered company, but there can be advantages if you are. For example mining coin can be taxed as income and have tax benefits if you are a company because you can write off a ton of expenses like electricity cost or cost of equipment ect.

When it comes to trading the question to your answer can be pretty broad, if you are serious about trading you should do some research first and be prepared.

When you make profit it will be considered capital gains, either long or short. Long term is more than 2 years (I think) and short term is less than that. Long term capital gains is like %10 on only your gains. Short term is more, I think 20%.

It will also depends on your country, in the USA we are expected to pay taxes on crypto to crypto trades, so you should definitely keep good track of all your trades.

If I were you I would skim through this reddit post, there is a lot of good information in there:
https://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/7nzqky/2017_taxes_we_need_to_get_serious/
127  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Nitrogensports poker script on: September 11, 2018, 03:20:15 PM
Good luck man, nitrogen is a pretty nice room for poker (in terms of BTC) and if you grind it out you can make a nice chunk of coin on there.

I do not think that they will let you grind on their poker table, I know it is oretty boring to play on small blind, it will waste your time but if you can grind it then it will be good to have something but better do not complaint about the withdrawals when they found out you are grinding on their game

Anyway OP, why do you need this bot? If you give the reason may be there is people that want to code for you. Or even nitrogen might able to help you out with their script

Dude, what are you talking about??? Play on small blind?

By grinding I mean playing consistently and playing discipline poker, by doing this (grinding it out) you will win in the long run. I don't think you have the same connotation in mind  Cheesy Cheesy

Have you played more than 24 hours of poker in your life?
128  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A blockchain similar platform with Ethereum on: September 11, 2018, 01:45:35 PM
"Ethereum blockchain has some extraordinary capabilities. One of them is that you can build smart contracts. It’s kind of what it sounds like. It’s a contract that self-executes, and the contract handles the enforcement, the management, performance, and payment."

Ethereum was the first mover in the sense that it had it's own programming language built in, it can be debated that existing platforms provided the possibility of smart contracts, platforms like omni, counterparty or maybe even NXT. Ethereum was not the first platform to have ICO's ran on it, Mastercoin (Omni now) was.

But Ethereum is BY FAR the most popular ICO platform, 2017 will go down in crypto history as the ICO boom, a huge influx of projects/companies utilizing the ERC-20 token model of launching an ICO.

Look at how much money has been invested into the ICO space, focus on the last 1.5 years.

Source: Coindesk, ICO Tracker https://www.coindesk.com/ico-tracker/

Now with that chart in mind, if you go to CMC and sort the top 100 tokens by market cap you will see that 94% of them are built on Ethereum....think about that for a minute. Thats literally billions upon billions of dollars built and resting on the Ethereum network. So many companies are depending on Ethereum to work and be a successful network. In my opinion it's to big to fail at this point.

The question is this: Is there any other alternative crypto platform with the same functionalities or capabilities as Ethereum Blockchain who can take over?

There are competitors but the market is dominated by Ethereum when it comes to smart contracts. But Eth does have some downside in that it doesn't scale very well and lacks privacy, for example take Komodo, they have integrated a Pow/Pos model so they have a better scaling mechanism and also have zk-Snarks (from Zcash) integrated as well, so good privacy. There are several other platforms that are good alternatives to Ethereum as well if you do your research.

130  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you remember Bitconnect? I lost 3500 dollars in this pyramid! on: September 10, 2018, 05:53:09 PM
Gotta get my 2 cents in on this thread...

Last November I used to rage so hard on people making bitconnect videos on youtube, I couldn't believe people were promoting it who had little to no experience in crypto.

Ya a lot of people lost money but in my opinion the people who were hurt the absolute most were the multi-level-marketers!

Think about it, bitconnect was the epitome of a multi-level-marketer's dream, no products/packages to sell, just buy this, click some buttons and Wa-Lah!! Passive income.

They all through there reservations aside and put all their money (and family's money) in before understanding the risk. Rekt  Undecided Undecided
131  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Nitrogensports poker script on: September 10, 2018, 03:15:25 PM
By "poker script" you must mean a poker bot, which in that case I have looked around and there is no pre-made bot coded and ready to go for nitrogen. This is because nitrogen is an extremely small room in relation to other poker rooms.

There is most definitely bots on their tables I see them all the time, but those bot owners probably are not interested in selling their bot.

I have been playing around with open source bots for bigger rooms but what I have found is that creating a bot takes weeks/months of trial and error and due diligence, but I can imagine you could use https://github.com/OpenHoldem/openholdembot to make your own bot for nitrogen.

You could maybe try posting in services board offering that $100 to anyone who can code you up a simple bot to use on there, or even try fiverr.com or something but chances are you will get a poorly playing bot.

Good luck man, nitrogen is a pretty nice room for poker (in terms of BTC) and if you grind it out you can make a nice chunk of coin on there.
132  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Antminer Z9 non-mini (maxi?) on: September 10, 2018, 03:05:46 PM
Ordered to the US through UPS on July 14th, still havent received any shipping information

Would be nice to hear exactly how much import tax you are paying for that delivery. I think it varies from country to country but I don't think it's that much, maybe $25 or something.

I assume that it is not necessarily the same as Z9 mini multiplied fourfold.

I kind of assumed it would be, it's just a couple of z9 minis together right? Everyone was saying they were getting nearly 16ksols on z9 mini overclocked.

Z9 is delayed by 5-7 days (that's what they promise).

That's it. The end of the line.

So you done mining overall or just boycotting bitmain, there has been other competitors coming out. Will you start buying elsewhere?
133  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Lack of useful dApps for ETH and other Cryptos on: September 10, 2018, 01:55:43 PM
Follow:
https://dappradar.com/

It will show you the current popularity and use of certain Dapps.

I wouldn't say that there has been zero use of Dapps on ethereum so far, Augur released in beta after years of development and has seen some nice growth. As a prediction market it stands to be the most utilized one to date. It alone has tremendous potential.

As far as MMORPG's, Im with you dude, I would love to see a big game get released that had an in game crypto token that could be traded for real money. But creating these games is extremely difficult and labor intensive. Can you imagine how many employees work at blizzard? But these games are in the works (like 0xuniverse), give them time.

On a final note I think it's important to realize that the most utulized Dapps so far have been the gambling/investing ones like Powh3d, Fomo3d and cryptokitties. IMO this is because they have that built in "trustless escrow" and provided the most upfront utility for developers to use to build something, over time more sophisticated Dapps will come.....like Augur.

Good luck

136  Economy / Speculation / Re: When will the bull run start? on: September 06, 2018, 08:34:21 PM
History shows us that the most influential thing to the price of bitcoin is the adrupt halving schedule when the block reward is cut in half, it has a huge effect on the supply/demand of bitcoin.

If you look back in 2016 the thing that kept the late rally of 2015 going was the halving that happened in July 2016, see below how the halving led to 2 subsequent rallies.

https://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-halving-2016-will-price-rise-fall/

It's extremely important to realize the scarcity built into bitcoin and how it reflects digital gold, once you understand this you can hold with confidence even at huge losses because you know that alot later, years later, the price will be much higher.

Keep an eye on when the next halving will be (2020):
https://www.bitcoinblockhalf.com/

But also keep in mind that good news could come out too that could really make the price go parabolic.

Ah, another newbie asking a question that nobody can't answer. I understand your frustrations your disappointed, and who wouldn't be? we put lots of money in the market and then suddenly it went on bearish trend. Question though, did you invest want you can afford to lose? If your answer is Yes, then no need to wait for a bull run because you are not losing your money if you are not selling.

But if you invest and hoping to get rich quick, then sorry to burst the bubble, your are in the wrong market. No one can tell you when will Bull runs starts because if you just look at the current sentiments, we are struggling. So it might be next month or next year. I suggest you just stay with the market and wait till the bull run happens.

OP just asked in general when do people think the next bull run in bitcoin will start, not your opinion on whether or not you think he is a newb and if he invested more than he is willing to lose, how about next time you actually give an educated response to his post instead of just rambling about stuff he/she already knows and make them feel worse about their loss.
137  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Yobit Transaction on: August 29, 2018, 04:25:35 PM
Can also anyone tell me if Yobit is a good trading platform or not.

They are like a cross between a gambling site and an exchange, there is dice, faucets and small rewards for specific coins being held on there. I have had an account there for years and have never had a problem but I never kept that much coin on there and only used to trade specific coins. I think they still will host ICOs for coins too.

But their user interface and charts are trash compared to other exchanges, and I always hated their layout. It's kind of like a shitcoin exchange, I would trade on cryptopia over yobit anyday.

One thing I will say for them is that they will host forks of coins that other exchanges won't, they hosted litecoin cash and callisto, regardless of one's opinion on those coins, I'm sure all the holders of LTC and ETC appreciated that.

Their customer service is pretty much non-existent, and although they've been around a while they're one of the shadiest exchanges, hands down.

I second this, even though it is an old exchange it still has a pretty bad reputation of being an extremely shady exchange, probably why they went the gambling route instead of offering discounts and incentives for trading.
138  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can I trust telegram signals? on: August 29, 2018, 03:52:17 PM
If it was any good they would use it themselves to profit and not share it with the outside world to "help" people profit.
This is one of the biggest reasons why you should never pay for trade signals, most of the time when you pay for these signals the people
posting them are not even taking the trades themselves, they are just charging you for all the signals they can come up with.
They don't know what they are doing. Actually none of us, they are making guesses.
I agree in the sense that none of us REALLY know where the price will go, it's always a guess. But there is a difference between shit TA and
good TA so some actually do know what they are doing in terms of TA. But those type of traders are usually the ones not selling their trade calls.
I've been bugged lately with massive addition into telegram crypto signal groups. I hate that each time I see a message, it's one of those guys trying to get people to their premium offers. Like they actually know what they are doing, or do they?

Don't waste your money dude, spend it on a coinigy subsription of a tradingview subscription and learn a little bit of TA.
139  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How many Master Node can be set up in a pc? on: August 29, 2018, 12:19:58 AM
Hi;

As much as I understand, depending on the technical requirements of the selected MNs, I can install as many MNs as I want on my PC / workstation / server or VPS.

Thank you

You can have your controller wallet (wallet with the coins in it) on your home pc/laptop/pi. This can be 1 or as many as your processor will allow, on the VPS it is different, you can only have 1 masternode per IP address.

So depending on how many different masternode coins you have I recommend putting as many different masternodes on 1 VPS as long as they are different coins. Consolidate your nodes on VPS, don't pay $5-$10 per masternode on VPS and leave additional RAM space on your servers, get as much bang for your buck as you can.

Given the current state of masternode coins you really need to be frugal with your VPS setup, there are alot of good providers out there that are cheap, run a google search and find what is best in your country, $5/month for around 1k mb of memory is standard, some services let you go lower than that.

Good luck

What will the transition be like? Will all accounts and account history just transfer over?

Also it will still be free right? Hope so..

It's good that something is being worked on I do look forward to a new bitcointalk forum, long overdue but at the same time I remember reading about several stories of dev accounts getting hacked and alot of private information/keys getting stolen from private messages, DDOS attacks also been problems in the past so makes sense they are taking their time.
