1203  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BC) | on exchanges | PoS | No premine on: April 13, 2014, 04:22:12 PM
My guess is there are a lot of bots and day traders flipping back and forth. Keep in mind the latest price rises have been happening when Bitcoin and Litecoin is going down. So I am assuming a lot of speculators have come from BTC and LTC to BC and that is why we are seeing these kinds of price jumps. My question is what happens if BTC and LTC resume their upward trajectories? What happens to BC then? Are we gonna have a price crash? I don't want to spoil the festive mood around here, but I think
everyone needs to take this into consideration. The fact that we have no miners dumping coins every day does not mean you can't have a sell-off.

If the multipool's were at a stage where they can buy a few hundred BTC a day worth, I would feel much better about it. But at the current rate I am not so confident. If BTC stages a
comeback things can get hairy very quickly.

Guys, help me out here.

The multipool is currently @ 6000mhs which is ~ 1000 ltc per day ~ 25 btc per day.

The daily volume of BC on mintpal alone is 2800 btc today.

So that means most of the buying from the multipool is a drop in the bucket @ this stage.

Is my math wrong here or what?

Never thought to do the math but yeah, you are right...

Consider this though: The multipool only buys once a day, and it does not sit there and day trade, which means any volume from the multipool is entirely a new influsion of capital.

Someone with one bitcoin worth of value can buy and sell back and forth all day and make ten bitcoins worth of volume. So basically, the multipool is an influx of new capital, whereas the rest of the volume may not necessary be an influx of new capital it could be someone just trading value back and forth, aka day trading. As far as I am concerned, there is no way to tell what portion of the volume is due to new influx of capital, or just daytraders trading back and forth.

If the recent price jump was nice ans steady and due to the multipool I would feel much better, but I know that is not the case.

The only thing that worries me about the recent price rise is that it is too quick. If BTC starts rising again I am not sure how that will affect price of BC.
I don't see how it should effect the BC prize to much as it is measured and mostly purchased in BTC...

It is true that there are no miners of BC that are dumping new coins everyday, but if bitcoin start rising again speculators will no doubt switch sides and we can see the opposite effect happen.

Just going to ask this publically, who's this IconicExpert guy?

Just curious since I generally try to read over posts that try to invoke emotion since it could be a plant trying to get you to sell fast or buy fast so they can take advantage of you.

Not that I think this Iconic fella is doing that, I'm just curious to know if he's actually part of the development or something to explain is ecstatic state and apparent awareness of things to come

Now Taking Pre-Orders - BlackCoin Wallet Card

We are now accepting pre-orders for the BlackCoin Wallet Card!!! Please click here to place your order: http://www.blackcoincard.com

Price: $20.00 + Free Shipping Worldwide!

Pre-Orders will be from today until 4/18/2014. First Batch will be shipping out the week of May 1st!

Only the first batch will be the limited edition version!

The official website launches 4/14/2014 @ 5:00PM EST

Please note: The image is just a low resolution mock-up. The actually card will be high resolution supper glossy plastic with vibrant colors.

So what exactly is the Blackcoin Card Wallet?

The BlackCoin Card Wallet is a completely branded BC card with a pull out USB dongle. It will be loaded with a custom BlackCoin start menu and the wallet pre loaded. When you insert the wallet into your computer the menu will automatically launch, and you will have access to your wallet, current market prices, BC news, and other elements all in one place! What makes this exciting is you will not only be able to keep your wallet with you at all times, in the event you need to access your funds you will be able to do it at any Windows computer. The blockchain and all other data will already be loaded on the card. (Obviously if you do not plug the card in regularly it will take longer for it to sync). Also, the launcher will automatically update the wallet to the current version automatically.

Another benefit of the card is you can pre-load as many coins as you like and give the cards away to family and friends as "gift cards". They will not need to be tech savvy to use it! Just insert and go! This is a great way to introduce others to BlackCoin.

And lets be honest, wouldn't it be cool to walk around with a BlackCoin wallet card with the sexy logo?

Note: A portion of the proceeds will go directly to the dev team and community projects.

Pick yours up here: http://www.blackcoincard.com

If we reach 800 units sold by Friday I will pre-load $50 worth of BC on 10 random cards!!! Once again thank you all for your support!!!

Blackcoin needs to get on Bitfinex. If that happens there will be tremendous cash buying power, people can trade there on leverage so you can imagine what will happen.

What do you mean when you say transparency? what will a business license do exactly?

This stock is trading at about .6x annual earnings where as your average stock on the NASDAQ is trading at more than 30x earnings. I think that if gray applied for a business license, was more transparent, this stock would shoot up. Despite his daily announcements and consistency, people still feel that they cannot trust this investment. It's just too anarcho-capitalist and there is no accountability.

Yes the dividends are fantastic. But if gray doesn't make this operation more transparent and legit, this stock is never going to reach its full potential. I think we need to put the pressure on him to be more transparent.

Regarding the sell wall, my theory is that it is the individual who made the 15 btc investment just hours before the hack. But the wall is being eaten up more and more every day.

So I'm still bullish on this stock and I'm still buying, but I really want to see more transparency from gray.

What is interesting is that the stock market had it's worst drop today since 2011. Awfully big coincidence me thinks!

I am a windows user so everything works ok for me, I wish I could help the linux people, but unfortunately I have never used linux.

Hey guys, are there any working addnodes?  Been trying to setup a Block Explorer for Gridcoin for a little while now and can't get any connections at all.  Tried the following addnodes with no luck...

addnode=www.pgp.mx
addnode=gridcoinweu01.cloudapp.net
addnode=gridcoinweu02.cloudapp.net
addnode=gridcoinneu01.cloudapp.net
addnode=gridcoinneu02.cloudapp.net
addnode=gridcoineus01.cloudapp.net
addnode=gridcoineus02.cloudapp.net
addnode=gridcoinwus01.cloudapp.net
addnode=gridcoinwus02.cloudapp.net
addnode=gridcoinea01.cloudapp.net
addnode=gridcoinea02.cloudapp.net
addnode=98.114.181.178
addnode=76.187.184.27
addnode=66.187.94.194
addnode=76.74.177.224
addnode=84.125.196.167
addnode=71.233.139.62

I just did a successful sync only using www.pgp.mx

Make sure you are on the right version or you'll wait forever Tongue

I'm thinking about mining this now that I owe 9600GRC to someone that I can't get back to my wallet Sad  , looks like a pita to setup though.

Still no luck with this, every other coin daemon i have downloaded and installed with the proper addnodes works fine.  Is there some sort of trick for this daemon to run on linux?  0 Connections all the time and the following errors when it does try to connect...

Code:

Finally someone that makes sense.

This is not a coincidence...someone is sabotaging BC for whatever reason.[/b]

It's more likely to be a large holder waiting for sufficient liquidity to be available for them to cash out.

These alt coin markets are tiny. Look at the order book. It's all decimals of BTC that are on there. There's no liquidity to speak of - unlike, say BTC-e Bitcoin and Litecoin markets. That's why exchanges like BTCe don't bother with other alts. the volume in the mainstream coins is huge - pros that trade 50-100 BTC at a time.

If you have even 1 large holder who has a lot of BC wanting to profit take, you'd see exactly the pattern you've observed: wait for liquidity to emerge, cash out a load, then wait another 10 hours or so for the bid side to "recharge" itself, cash out again, rinse and repeat.

I don't think there needs to be any conspiracy associated with it - and even if there was, they'd still need to have the BC to be able to place the order s there's no material difference to what I've just described.

There are 75 million BC's in circulation. That is quite a large amount. It means that BC is already at a tenth of Peercoin's price corrected for coin supply. So even if it got to Peercoin's valuation it would only be a tenfold gain from here whereas the buy in required would be many hundreds of times the buy in that was needed to get this far.

Taking all this into account, it's not a bad point for a large holder to "get off the bus" since they could take the view that there's more chance of it going down than up from here. THat's what's behind those big sellwalls.

I was just reading through the Gridcoin Reddit page and there was a very interesting suggestion to have custom Boinc projects like 3D rendering and have miners getting bonus payments for participating. I think this would be very entertaining for all GRC miners and would strengthen the community quite a bit.

If you are re-investing your dividend isn't it better to have lower prices? which is what we have now!

I've been reinvesting all my dividends so far. We need to get this stock moving!

It would be great to see the individual offers and not lump them all in one.

Comments on the recent changes:

1.) The colored background behind the offers and demands is terrible
2.) The new total number of swaps column that is collecting a running total is kind of cool, just not sure how valuable it is when each contract can be for a different duration
3.) Centering numbers looks terrible, please right justify them so the proper numbers all line up, also comma separate.   3548327.74 is much tougher to read than 3,548,327.74

Feature request: please add a clickable + when there are multiple offers at the same rate so we can see how much at each duration is offered.

Rob is a lot more active on Cryptocointalk so maybe people get impression he is not active on Bitcointalk.

GRC price is rising again, very nice! And it bothers me that many say devS don't do anything and there is only one dev and he uses A LOT of his time to make GRC a better coin.
