This is pic of 1 of my boards that doesnt run. you can see the bent copper heat sinks and paste all over.

I don't understand the heat sink configuration here though?

Why are the heat-sinks on the A1 chips so small?

What is the bigger heat sink on the other side connected to?
Because 30 % of the heat can be disposed from one side of the chip
70% from the other
This seems to be done right
CONGRATS.  AMT Grin
This is useless of course as all my other posts right?
CPU and GPUs have their heat sinks on the side of the chip and there is a conduction path from chip thermal paste to heat sink.

I don't understand this kind of a configuration,  there is no conduction path from the chip through the board to the massive heat sinks.

yeah there is. bitfury chips are the same type of package. there are thermal vias going through the pcb that dissipate most of the heat out the back .

The design isn't ideal as there are multiple points of failure, especially those tiny heatsyncs on the bottom (shown in the picture) - it wouldn't take much time with a fan down, for those to get incredibly hot and burn up the chip.

How are the copper sinks mounted to the board? I dont see any clips or fasteners.

It would probably be wise for everyone that is upset with their damaged/non working miners - to go ahead and pack them up correctly and ship them back to AMT (at your expense). This way they can't fight giving you a refund.

Waiting for RMA parts from this circus known as AMT just doesn't seem worth it.

These miners have incompetence written all over them. Hard to believe anyone with technical skills would of been able to ship these out in this condition. QA my ass. Thermal paste, loose screws, missing cables, damaged boards and bent cases. Everything that could of possibly gone wrong, has - and now it's time for AMT to rectify this situation.

AMT you should be honoring refunds NOW. People have waited, and now they are FUCKED. Tell me how anyone WOULDN'T be eligible for a refund after you've mailed them busted hardware after months of delays?

Again folks do not sign on delivery just refuse. The chance to get your money if there is still any chance not in court is bigger
Ps
Thermal paste is not an issue assuming it is non conductive
But amt are full of surprises always Grin

This is true, the thermal paste doesn't conduct electricity - it being smeared everywhere wouldn't cause an issue, it's just sloppy manufacturing is all.

If they used a brand of thermal paste with silver in it, it might conduct VERY LITTLE electricity - not enough however to short something out. The silver stuff is usually more expensive, so I highly doubt AMT went with it.

I still believe these were intentionally packed poorly for insurance claims. These miners are probably riddled with heat/power issues, even when they aren't smashed in shipping. We just have to wait and see how long someone can run one of these at the full 1.2TH STABLE, without it burning out.
1244  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Thread: AMT on: April 13, 2014, 07:08:21 PM
Or the screws *were * there and are now rolling around in the packaging or delivery truck. Don't suppose the screws have star-washers so they can't shake loose do  they?

Found these under the flap at the bottom of the box.

Hopefully the blades banging each other during shipping didn't damage them too much.

They need to be using something like these machine screws w/star-washers that are part of them http://www.mcmaster.com/#95345a047/=riqrv4  also available with sheet metal threads.

Not true. Even with Star Washers, tightened case screws DON'T just pop out in transit.

This was either intentionally done (damaged on purpose to blame Fedex) or these weren't tightened at all and fell out due to vibration in transit.

Hard to believe.
1245  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Thread: AMT on: April 13, 2014, 07:06:45 PM

For those prices, you can easily pick up 2 750 - 900w power supplies + power supply link cable. This will put out more power, connectors, redundancy, and still be cheaper in the end.

Obviously AMT doesn't know what they are talking about. Bad suggestion.
1246  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Thread: AMT on: April 12, 2014, 05:33:56 PM
Phin you've seen how they've been shipping seems to me they have been celebrating passover from the get go.

Pass over! Good one!

It's fairly obvious that Joshua Zipkin is a pathological liar. This is an uncontrollable urge to lie, and this thread is proof of that.

Because of this, I doubt AMT will ever turn itself around or should ever be trusted again (as long as JZ is at the helm).

Josh, do yourself a favor and go see a therapist.
1247  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Thread: AMT on: April 12, 2014, 04:44:47 AM
It wasn't even a box, it was cardboard taped together.

Yes it seems fedex did a number on that one. We'll go ahead and schedule a pickup to RMA that miner and have another back to you as soon as we receive it. This is the first instance of a 1.2Th arriving like that, surprised the foam protection on the sides didn't keep it safe like all the other miners shipped.

We'll arrange for an RMA pickup for Monday and have a new miner back to you in a jiffy. Thanks.

I have a similar damage package.

Not only is the package damaged by the components are damaged.

One fan completely destroyed.  Metal rack all bent up.  Two boards appear to have their power connectors destroyed.  One board appears to be bent.

Am I supposed to send this all back?

Why did you folks not ship this unit in a proper package?

This is so upsetting.   I wait for a unit that is delayed for over a month and I get this shoddy packaging!    I can't believe they skimped on packaging for something that cost $6,000.  This is ridiculous.

I've shipped lots of hardware and you need to have a lot of foam and bubble wrap.  AMT shipped the unit with ZERO bubble wrap or foam,  they just had paper to fill up some space. Otherwise, there was zero padding.   Now I get a damaged system!     It is so dumb of them to cut corners on the packaging!

Come on, are you really surprised?

These packages are so inconsistent, packaged and shipped with a hodgepodge mix of packing materials. I guess you gotta use what's available, when you pick your boxes and packing materials out of a walmart dumpster.

Damaged on arrival, missing ethernet cords, no documentation ... what's next? AMT Claims that they haven't had this happen before, but if you read back; there were a few different Bitfury based miners that had theirs damaged in shipping. This has been the norm for AMT since day 1.

Is AMT's shipping department based out of the back of Joshua Zipkin's car? You charge people $6,000 for hardware, then pack it up in next to nothing so it can disintegrate in shipping? Sounds more intentional than not, that or AMT is just so blatantly fucking ignorant.
1248  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Thread: AMT on: April 11, 2014, 11:08:30 PM

Because Joshua Zipkin is a retard.

Maybe he's hoping to blame the non working miner on damage caused by Fedex. Who knows.
1249  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Thread: AMT on: April 08, 2014, 06:27:39 PM
I don't want to join the lawsuit either, AMT, but seeing people with order numbers higher than mine who are receiving miners while I eagerly try to figure out where mine are is not exactly helping your case. When will you be shipping my two 1.2s for order 899? And please don't say "soon" that answer doesn't fly

"Your orders are shipping shortly."

According to Joshua Zipkin, "shortly" means 3 months.
1250  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Thread: AMT on: April 08, 2014, 06:24:06 PM
Amt you call this your best effort? That's sad. Still hunting for a tracking number, great organization, or are you just waiting to actually ship something before you have it....

I really hope you take your lawyers advice, at first you say because of the lawsuit you are going to offer refunds, then you say there is no lawsuit. Give refunds to people who ask, just do it. People don't want excuses and they don't care that you suck at math, business, life, etc. People feel bad for other people that get screwed, not the companies that screw them.

+1

Regarding this suit.

First, we have not been served or sent any documents/legal papers, or formal notices of suit. Currently the plaintiffs legal team, but mostly Mr. Lenell has been calling around trying their hardest (again we believe mostly Craig Lenell) to get any media to publish this and credit this as legitimate, but more over the soul purpose is to notify AMT customers and ask them to get involved on their side, to accumulate the damages in question so hopefully they can win more from us. If enough people join, and the damages are enough to cover the potential winnings, we will be served.

If you'd like to join the class, please contact the legal team here: http://www.chimicles.com/

There are a few outcomes that will come of this civil lawsuit:

1. The plaintiffs win, and force the company into bankruptcy.
2. The plaintiffs loose, or the case is dismissed fairly quickly.
3. The case is tried for a long time, costing thousands in legal fees on both sides ( which the majority of the class will not contribute to ) by which time everyone's miner will already be delivered.

4. (most probable)  Mr. Lenell will annoy and harass the crap out of everyone involved, overstep his welcome and eventually piss people off until they are fed up with him and quit. <- this one we know from experience.

Are we worried? Sure we are, we've given our hearts and best efforts to this business.

Are we going to drop everything, stop building/shipping miners and dedicate our time to lawyers and this case like Mr. Lenell has. No we wont, its not our style. We have a job to do, and we're going to finish it one way or another, period. We were due to be on the expo today, booth 401, we were going to demo our 2.4's, but in light of this news we felt its best to go to Toronto instead.

No one believes you anymore.
i do! :-P and i even still get rick rolled.

Well, then you sir are an idiot (no offense). What do you have to show for your 6k spent? Please enlighten me.

This was an investment in an nonexistent product, sir. Just like many campaigns in Kickstarter, that didn't manage to bring the product to market. You sir are the "idiot" ( no offence) for being greedy (by buying a "money maker") and not being a Man that stands firmly with the choices he made. This was a risky investment, thats it. The Law suit will definitely not bring us our 6k back in the next year or two, For Sure , neither are we gonna get more , only less.

If the lawsuit is filed, amt will Not Deliver anything as they will totally give up and declare bankruptcy, cause its The easiest way and we will Get Nothing.........

Best option is to have a little faith and stop being a bitch going to mommy (government) to save my greedy ass......

Life is equal for all and its best to be a good, smart and patient person...

No Lawsuits!  Give them Time , they only ask for that ! File a lawsuit if they Never deliver.... Patience and some balls guys ...

Do everyone a favor and shut the fuck up.

Stupid AMT sympathizers with less than 10 posts. Eat a dick!

You broke the law when you refused all refunds. Time to pay the Piper.
1254  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Thread: AMT on: April 07, 2014, 05:04:13 PM

Once again, no hard evidence of anything. Just a bunch of hearsay and more delay tactics.

As for Phin, he's officially SOLD OUT.

1. Drives 12 hours and doesn't go to the assembly plant
2. Says AMT and the miners are legit and hashing away (we dont see any of that in the video)
3. Doesn't prove much, other than his word is worth about $5000 (or the cost of a miner)

I suggest everyone file against AMT and forget about receiving their vaporware miners. Even if they can get them out the door soon, why w
I think we should put them out of business while recouping our investment.

yeah lets all file against them they will subsequently file for bancruptsy and or insolvency and then noone gets money

fraud makes a debt non-chargeoffable. So even if they seek bankruptcy protection they are not cleared of this debt.

Actually if we were an S corp, we would be free of this debt, but since we're a C corp the liability gets transferred back to the three owners of the company and their assets.

Why does everybody keep forgetting that there are three owners of AMT, and not ONLY two?
According to WHO exactly?

I'm willing to bet Joshua Zipkin is the sole owner. He was the only one to mention that there were various other owners involved, but I think that was just to deflect responsibility away from himself.

He couldn't even admit it was him posting here under AMT_MINERS account. He expected us to believe that "Alyssa" the CSR was posting responses here. Yeah, right. If you read his post about "Phinneus being a 'tard' for driving across country and needing clinical help" how can you think that anyone BUT Josh would have posted that?

This guy is just your run of the mill scumbag who fucks people out of money for a living. Time to prosecute!

I'm pretty sure that c's lawyer do their homework when they claimed in the lawsuit that a Jim Brown is one of the principals of AMT.

That's fine and dandy, but who is this mysterious 3rd owner?

Either way, Joshua needs to start giving refunds back asap.

If you are still hopeful and waiting for a miner, you need to see a therapist. Read up on Casirah's experience with his miner, he's already trying to sell his off because he can't get them running stable.

If you opt for the miner instead of a refund, you'll be burned in the end. There is no guarantee that the miners will be up to spec or even work long term.

What happens to you when 2 months in, something happens to the miner (blown board, backplane, whatever) - do you trust AMT is going to step up to the plate and honor their warranty/replace parts? They have said they are losing their ass on these miners (SUPPOSEDLY), do you really expect them to cover these warranties down the road, if that's the case?

Time to wake up and smell the bullshit.
1255  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Thread: AMT on: April 07, 2014, 05:02:17 PM
It's only fried in a small string because I kept messing with them, and trying to adjust them. It isn't unfix-able, I may try soldering when I go to work tomorrow.

My soldering skills are good, I just haven't done it in quite a while. I fixed the other board, but after dicking around I messed it up again.

Bottom line, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ENOUGH POWER BEFORE YOU RUN THESE!

God....I can't stress that enough, I could have avoided 5000 problems because of this.

Meh, I'll try my luck, obviously 25 BTC is too high :-P

Like I said, I tested all the cards, they run TURBO MODE at 275-300 GH/s

10 cards in the case.

~Casey

So why did you receive your miners in front of dozens of people in front of you?

It seems pretty obvious that Joshua has been catering to people on this forums that he thinks will sway the general perception of AMT.

Joshua probably only has a handful of barely working miners, and he chose to send them out to 'certain customers' that might give good reviews/feedback on here to continue and delay everyone else waiting. He's trying to manipulate perceptions of AMT, but it just ins't working.
1256  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Thread: AMT on: April 07, 2014, 04:59:13 PM
I have Terahash miners coming from both companies.  I ordered more from BFL just because of their website and compact design, and promise of compact design. The one game changer that happed was that when there was a problem with the miners and chips BFL contacted me told me why and made me some deals via credits or extra hardware. AMT when there was a delay, pretty much abandoned ship and did not return my emails, phone calls, forum post within 30 days as the law states. The only deal AMT gave me was a promise that I would get my miner at some point. I guess there are so many moving parts with this AMT saga, we can't keep them all in our heads to remember them all at once.

Now, in the future I feel much more at east in ordering with BFL. When the problem came I said, where the hell is my miner BFL? At least they posted updates and made me offers to calm me down. When AMT had the delay and I said WHERE IS MY MINER? They did not answer us, and then we just got more and more mad until things blew up. Then AMT turned the tables on us saying we are the bad people, and don't leave bad reviews that we wont refund your money.  They need to take a page out of BFL's book and do some serious damage control to turn things around now. Perhaps sending people extra hardware who they wrong, like an extra 1.2T working miner. (I know that would never happen though).

BFL just delayed another 5 weeks. I also ordered from them. If anything they have been worse as there are people who ordered from them in August of last year that have gotten nothing but more delays. They just get alot of blah blah. BFL has been getting the crap sued out of them too. They have been forced to ramp up phone calls. But they are also under investigation by the state DA as well for some of their illegal practices. It's not looking too hot for them right now. Cointerra is the only American company really delivering new hardware at this point. AMT might start getting hardware out the door soon, but until that happens in earnest, there is really nothing at this moment but a couple of sample miners and DIY kits. That maneuver with no compensation attached really burned people seeing as they well advertised an MPP on their site. Its what they have stated thats going to burn them. And hopefully as a result of this they honor what they state as far as the MPP. Or at least work with customers to honor that. I am waiting until Wednesday to get an update on my order as they promised I would get a tracking number in "a few days" as of last Monday. I imagine they will be shipping with the new backplane and PSU as they stated last week so that's pleasant news.

A fast response from BFL does not mean a quality one. I have asked when they are shipping and its always a line. Saying nothing (really) while giving nothing doesn't work either while saying something. Bottom line they are worse in some respects as their hardware is truly outdated at this point. 300Ghs at the time they debuted was going for what some 1THs miners are going for now. The 1.2THs miner AMT makes is only 2k more than the 600GHs monarch. I would hazard I have a better chance of ROI with the AMT machines than BFLs at this point.

Question: IF you asked BFL to cancel your order, and demand a refund - would they give it to you?

Yes, as a matter of a fact. BFL offered the choice of refunds or 50% more hardware. I chose the more hardware route, because they were being nice to me and figured I would give them the business.

Well, you've been given a way out - which is a hell of a lot more than AMT has given us.

At least with BFL, there is some transparency - and an option to get money back.

AMT has dug themselves into a deep hole by denying refunds and not getting any product out thus far. AMT is simply a sham that has been using delay tactics for the past 3 months.

Congrats, you figured out one of the guys that works in our office. Amazing job! you obviously have no fucking life. Also non of those domains are associated with Joshua, stop making shit up at this point. Do a simple whois check.

Keep it up, post more info about  Alex Singer, or Jake Cohen, or Jim Brown.. Get our Socials and phone numbers and come visit our houses you fucking stalkers.

And come see us in person. It'll never stop us from shipping miners you tard.

Amazing detective work for sure guy.. Give me your address so I can give you a donation.

Invading the personal privacy of our employees is crossing the line.

Even though AMT may have lied in the past, rest assure they are Jewish Bulgarian Freemasons Gimp Saints now.

What truly saddens me is that Joshua Zipkin/AMT won't be posting on this thread any further due to instructions by his lawyer, Josh's sister.
Who cares. Everything he's posted has been a lie (ship dates, manufacturing status, hash rates, power consumption, etc) Not like we got much real intel from him when he was active in the thread.

I'm glad to see this going to court. Joshua needs to be held accountable for his business practices. He's screwed a lot of people out of money thus far, with not even a handful of people having miners at this point.

The people that do have miners aren't very happy with them, and are trying to sell or return them asap. What's that say about customer satisfaction?

Like many have said before: even at this point, if you were to receive your miner - there is no guarantee that it will run properly (stable) or not breakdown in short time due to shoddy manufacturing and a lack of oversight by someone who is technically capable. AMT is looking more and more like a 'cash grab and run'.

Question: IF you asked BFL to cancel your order, and demand a refund - would they give it to you?

unless the moderators have been over active, this place has been far too quiet of late. nothing from amt, and not much from other daily posters. hmmmmm.

I'm still watching and waiting, opting not to post much so that I don't add clutter to this thread in respect for those who've ordered from AMT and should have their miners in-hand any day now according to AMT's postings.

Same here. AMT is doing a helluva job digging their own grave anyways, they don't need us chiming in anymore. Besides, everything that could of been said - has been said.

AMT is only using this thread as a vehicle to further mislead and delay people waiting on their orders.

Good luck to everyone, and as I've said before: suing for your refund seems like the best option.
