1282  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin could empower women on: September 25, 2013, 04:26:34 PM
In 2013, there are still several countries where women are not allowed to work, or open a bank account, without the consent of their husband.

http://www.worldbank.org/en/news/press-release/2013/09/24/societies-dismantle-gender-discrimination-world-bank-group-president-jim-yong-kim

With BTC gender-neutral, it could do a lot to help them earning, and saving, some money for their own good. The problem is that in those male-dominated countries, many women lack the knowledge to use a computer as they are sometimes not allowed to go to school. There's a lot to do, but I'm convinced BTC can help.

But if they are single? Or everyone gets a husband , from age of 5?
1283  Economy / Exchanges / Re: www.BITSTAMP.net Bitcoin exchange site for USD/BTC on: September 25, 2013, 04:21:14 PM
Are sepa withdrawals ok lately? Thinking of making one again, hoping it will go as smooth as last one.
1284  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Tealet - Farm-Direct Tea Marketplace now accepts Bitcoin on: September 24, 2013, 06:10:44 PM
bookmarked the site.
love the design
gotta love the fact that tea is quite easy to send by mail

Maybe will order something in the future, but thing I've most interested in - buying some real Stevia with bitcoins. Not a tea, but kinda close to it. You could distribute it as well, as a byproduct, for those who like their tea sweet but healthy.

UPD:IMHO in the "growers" page some photoshopped photos look really off-putting.

As for the initial question.  Yes, life is largely pointless.  Sorry, that's just the way it is.  The only point of your existence is to pass your genes on.

That doesn't make life any less enjoyable for this atheist.  I can have fun, care for my family and friends, learn about the world, etc.  All these things and more bring me enjoyment.   I really don't see a need for believing what is more than likely a fantasy and wasting countless hours of my precious life sitting in a pew.

Life is about the journey.   Enjoy the journey, don't worry about getting to the destination because it's non-existence, the same as before you were born.

But when someone close to you dies, you don't get to believe that he is getting to a "happy place".

It is an interesting apparent truth, though, that Israel's national security, or at least their Zionist aspiration for a 'Greater Israel', does indeed rest on a foundation of support from the US.  And thus, in the ability to manipulate the policies of the US.  Some might call it a form of parasitization especially since their lobbying results in multiple billions of my tax dollars being issued to them in support.  I cannot hold it against the Israelis to look out for their national security interests, but I can hold it against those in MY government who walk in the grey area between looking out for our allies and flat out treason.  In my mind, McCain, Graham, Rice, and a lot of others are out on some pretty thin ice at this time.

Imagine if US would suddenly drop ALL support of Israel? Where would Israel seek new allies? Would it cease to exist without said support?

So we should remove our focus on contraception then? Simply ignore it, yes?

Yes. Teach it like any other biology lesson, and treat it as a non-issue.

Higher instances of unwanted pregnancies compared to what? Exactly.

Practically every country in Europe.

America was the start point for sexual revolution around the world, there you have it.

You wouldn't be able to guess that looking at America now. It is way more sexually repressed than most of Europe. So, compare the sexually repressed America to the much more sexually liberal Europe, and you'll clearly see that more repression here has resulted in more sexual problems.

Drinking age is completely different issue. Why do you think lowering the age will lower poisoning count? Do those teens buy black market low quality stuff because they cannot buy in shops? No. They buy same stuff as you from same shops. If you open the gates, there will be same if not bigger amount of poisonings, cause restrains might keep some 2% at bay.

If that were true, you'd think that drinking problems were higher in countries where drinking age is lower, or more like guideline than a law, but the contrary is true. Why? Same reason sex, drugs, and guns are a problem here: we try to repress them, and end up with the "forbidden fruit" problem. It's easy for kids to get alcohol in Italy, so they don't care about it, and prefer things like gelato. It's hard to get alcohol here, so kids actively seek it out, just because they can't normally get it, and it's considered cool to get what others can't.

About comparing to other countries, I meant the you cannot compare america to europe with pregnancies issue, it's apples and oranges.

Sexual revolution boom came with condoms. "Yay, we can fuck without consequences now, let's make some orgies right here!" After every progression, naturally comes regression. "Yeah, he came on my face, when my nephew came in, and larry was filming. I think it's too much for kids to see this".  Sense of overdoing it.

I hope i will not see the day when heroin becomes over the counter thing. Cigarettes are not hard to get, and still youngsters are dumb enough to smoke. If I were to be a dictator I would outlaw all tabacco and hard drugs, with public beheadings and stuff. And hard enforcing. People would get the message after time. I want alchohol to be hard to get, I don't want drunk kids seen around, or doing crazy things. You can get booze, but you cannot be drinking openly in public if you're a minor. It's not about simply getting it.
1290  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The problem with atheism. on: September 11, 2013, 11:29:43 AM
Religion is just a wonderful tool to encourage people doing everything you want them to do for free.
Isn't it amazing when someone craves to kill as much as possible around them and then die just because of promises to appear in illusive world where they can fuck 72 virgins(boys/goats) forever with permanent erection?

Confirmed.

http://wikiislam.net/wiki/72_Virgins

wow - at the descriptions part!

Transparent to the marrow of their bones
Companions of equal age
White skinned
Appetizing vaginas
Non-menstruating / non-urinating/ non-defecating and childfree
Never dissatisfied

and etc

that's fucked up.
1291  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Assault weapon bans on: September 11, 2013, 07:52:10 AM
Hmm, this blowback thing reminds me of the sex issues in America. We focus the most on contraception and are trying to ban it more than European countries, where people don't care, and we have higher instances of unwanted pregnancies. We try to ban abortions way more than the European countries, and we have way more abortions. Even with alcohol, we try to restrict it as much as possible with age limits and such, compared to, say, Italy, where limits are more like guidelines, and we have way more issues with ten alcohol poisoning. Maybe the best way to reduce guns is to simply ignore them and make them an issue no one cares about.

So we should remove our focus on contraception then? Simply ignore it, yes? Higher instances of unwanted pregnancies compared to what? Exactly. If you could take an alternative universe America and compare it to that, now that would be different case.
America was the start point for sexual revolution around the world, there you have it.

Banning abortion is stupid though, it has no benefits. Population is not on the decline in America, why bother? Religion? Fuck that.

Seems like the crisis is being averted

They wanted to attack Syria even before whole chemical weapons ordeal. They will find another cause, even if Assad personally gives them all his stash. But I believe time is bought, and that's good. Clever idea, whomever came up with it, great job.

What God(s) are best to worship? There are so many to choose from, how does one go about deciding?
Flip a coin.  If god exists he will make the coin land for the right choice.  If god doesn't exist it doesn't matter.

Smiley Coin has only two (three) sides

"The Post said it withheld the rest, and kept some information out of its reporting, in consultation with the Obama administration to protect U.S. intelligence sources and methods."

Censorship at its finest.

Not quite. Whole article may be total bullshit, or they have no meaningful info, so they at least pretend they have.

Why even bother? Go with Zen Buddhism.

Other intersting facts:
Syria and Israel have not radified the convention on chemical weapons. So -IF- chemical weapons were used, in anyway by Syria it would NOT be against international law, since they are not part of that convention. (same goes for Iraq and Lybia pre war)

Syria owes the IMF ZERO or VERY Little money (couldnt find out if they really owe them 0). I belive this was true for Lybia and Iraq (pre -war)

This guy thinks about bods, t-bills ect. interesting:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AVGVwkUL-hw&list=UUAoA66dH7UHEMwTJBTbO3Nw

About chemical weapons you are absolutely correct there. Only difference is that, when israel used white phosphor no one cared.

And about IMF, if you're ok with putting on your tinfoil hat for a minute - there's a nice looking, full-lipped lady to sum it up in a video.

....
Democrat Hullinghorst also believes that there is no right to carry a gun, but rather the citizens have a right NOT TO CARRY. Hey—that’s not my logic—that’s the logic of a statist.
...
if it wasn't totally fucking nuts I'd say this was a pro choice vs pro life problem.

  • the choice to not carry
  • the choice to stay alive.

Yep. You choose to not carry, a murderer has the absolute safest choice in killing your defenseless ass, as opposed to an innocent who is armed.

A murderer will kill you no matter what do you carry, as long as you do not have it cocked in your pocket 24/7.
