13821  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: (2FA) Two Factor Authentication on: November 28, 2017, 12:40:29 AM
I have never liked 2FA, they are just a shady service and maybe it is safe because it has been provided by google, but i does not mean anything.
"I never liked 2FA, they are just a shady service" < quote of the year.

I would never suggest you to use 2FA on your bitcoin wallets,
Worst advice ever.

you never know if your phone is going to be stolen, and you need to do a lot of verifications on the X site that you have the funds if your smartphone is lost/stolen.
Or just backup your 2FA codes as I already explained above.

They are providing a token for the recovery purpose, but it is a lie, because you need to do a lot of things in order to enable 2fa in another device.
Huh

You clearly don't know what you are talking about.

2FA isn't owned by Google because 2FA is a protocol and not an app. If you don't like the Google Authenticator app (the one owned by Google), you can just use one that allows you to backup your 2FA codes (like I said in my previous post - which I doubt you have read).

Do you know these Newbies who talk shit about Bitcoin being insecure because X wallet/exchange got hacked? You just did the same but with the 2FA technology.

It is a horrible idea to start using 2fa, specially if you have a lot of money in those wallets. I knew a lot of people who lost a LOT of money because of 2fa, and i am not talking about $100 or $200, i am talking about more than ten thousand dollars at least.
I LOL'd.

Here, let me help you:

I'm not sure if this would work but you could try using this tool[1] to export your seed and derivation path. Then, you would be able to import them in Electrum/Electron Cash.

Please share if this works.

13823  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Trojan in Electrum 3.0.0 wallet? on: November 27, 2017, 08:23:50 PM
It's probably just a false positive.

If you are still worried, you can verify the executable signature[1] and confirm that you have the right files.

13824  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Need help retrieving BitCoin Cash (BCH) on: November 27, 2017, 06:38:25 PM
So I had my bitcoins in electrum wallet when the Bitcoin cash fork happened. Then I moved my btc to bittrex and back few times. Now btc are in bittrex. My question is what should I do to retrieve my bitcoin cash? If someone could explain to me step by step becauce now I am a bit lost. Do i need to transfer btc from bittrex somewhere? Or can i create electron wallet with a seed at thats it?(I tried to retrieve eletrcon wallet with a seed but could not press 'next').
You only moved BTC to Bittrex. Your Bitcoin Cash is still there in your old wallet.

Just download Electron Cash (Electrum fork for Bitcoin Cash) and open your wallet as you would do with Electrum (or just create a new one with the same seed).
13825  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Possibly recovered old Bitcoin wallet private keys... now what? on: November 27, 2017, 12:46:25 PM
Thank you karmakeddon.  Is it safe to just take the private keys and import them during an install of Electrum? Or do I designate the recovered wallet.dat file as the wallet for Electrum to use? The wallet is very old and I read the format changed so I am unsure if this is a concern. When I mined I used to use the Bitcoin Core wallet.
First of all, backup all the files you found for your safety.

Electrum can't open yor wallet.dat file since it's probably a Bitcoin Core wallet. The best approach would be to download Bitcoin Core, let it sync (should take a while) and open the wallet.dat with it.

For your list of private keys, download Electrum and import your list of private keys.

Would importing the private keys into a new wallet some how destroy or invalidate the coins since the addresses are different?
No. You can just import them.
13826  Economy / Exchanges / Re: I accidentally deposit btc to tether USDt wallet on: November 27, 2017, 09:11:40 AM
I accidentally sent USDT to BCH address. How can I get the USDT out?
Do you own the address? Simple export your BCH private-key, create an account at Omniwallet.org and import your address. You will be able to see and spend your coins.

If you don't, contact the service that does own the address.

I accidentally deposited btc to tether USDt wallet, it left my blockchain wallet without deliver to their tether USDT wallet, I have contact the exchange concerning their private key, they said sorry they can't help me with that, isn't another tricks for me get back my coin??
No. Sometimes it's too much work for them to bother on helping you.

The warning are clear and if they don't want to help you, then your coins are gone. There is no other way for you to recover them.
13827  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to claim my BTG? on: November 27, 2017, 09:10:29 AM
Is this recommended to be done on a different computer?  I read that claiming bitcoin cash, you should use another computer.  I assume using this on the same computer as bitcoin cash would be fine?  What about doing this on same computer as you keeping btc on the same computer with electrum?
It's fine but it's not recommended. The Bitcoin Gold team did some pretty bad job in protecting its users against malwares and fake wallets. They temporary linked a fake wallet in their page and recently haven't succeed in keeping their Core wallet safe - as you can see in this post[1].

I wouldn't install any random software in the same PC that you have your Electrum wallet. First send your coins to a new wallet and preferably only install the BTG wallet in a isolated device.

13828  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Lost electrum seed. on: November 27, 2017, 08:53:29 AM
I see. I wanted to get Bitcoin Cash from electrum but then I found out that I dont have my seed.. Is there any other way to get Bitcoin Cash without a seed?
No. Without the seed, you don't have fully access over your addresses.

Just do like HCP said and move your coins asap (and save the seed this time).
13829  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Lost electrum seed. on: November 27, 2017, 01:23:59 AM
Assuming that you have a normal wallet and not a 2FA one:

Go to Wallet -> Seed.
13830  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Samourai Wallet - SegWit Enabled Bitcoin Wallet on: November 27, 2017, 12:54:22 AM
I downloaded the zip file and went through it all and don't see the .apk file that I can use to run on my Android like I do for Coinami wallet. There is a source but maybe I have to compile it. Is there a compiled .apk file i can just run?
You can't find the apk anywhere else.

I uploaded the APK from the PlayStore for you. But of course you can't trust me, right? So you can verify that the file is legit by doing this:

1. Visit https://md5file.com/calculator or any other SHA256 file calculator.
2. Download the APK file and select it in the MD5File website.
3. You will see that the SHA-256 generated is the same as the one found in the Samourai's github for the Release 0.97.03.

13831  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: nano ledger & the bitcoin forks on: November 26, 2017, 08:18:11 PM
I imagine that they would support a fork provided that:

-The value of it was high enough for their users to demand it
-It had a functioning codebase
-It was secure for them to implement support.

However, since "Bitcoin Gold" was an extremely shady group who listed a scam on their website that stole millions of dollars, failed to protect their official client from malware and basically rode off the back of BCH anyway, I find it hard to believe that there's any more relevant forks to come.

Were did you get your info that btg is such a scam, would be interested to hear more.
Not Bitcoin Gold itself. But the wallet created by a random dev that were stealing private-keys/wallet seeds and was linked for some time by the BTG team in the BTG's official website.

That's the one:

13832  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How to claim BTG from an Electrum wallet? on: November 26, 2017, 08:13:11 PM
Do you need to or would you advise sending out all the BTC from an address before importing it into some BTG wallet?
You don't need but it's recommended. Especially if you are going to import your private-key in a not so reliable wallet.

Also, which BTG wallet do you recommend/use?
All wallets supporting BTG can be found in their official website.

The one from their official site was recently compromised (among other things wrong with BTG).
Which one? I imagine that you are talking about the web wallet that were storing private keys/seeds? Because that one wasn't created by anyone from the BTG dev team.

There is/was, you're just going to have to be willing to say "bye bye" to your BTC's during use.
Why?
13833  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: ConfirmTX.com's Free bitcoin transaction acceleration & New Block Notifications on: November 26, 2017, 06:33:46 PM
How much for a Size (rawtx) 782 Bytes transaction?
Every paid acceleration has a fixed price of $4 regardless of the transaction size.
13834  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: [Solved] How to claim BTG from an Electrum wallet? on: November 26, 2017, 06:02:53 PM
Anyway to do this "cold" like with Electron Cash

Don't want to risk putting private key inside an Android phone (which are always full of exploits) or on an online computer with the main wallet

Rather create the transaction and sign it offline
Maybe you can do it by using Bitcoin Gold core? The problem with BTG is that there are almost no working wallet available.

At least with BCH we had Electron Cash right after its release.
13835  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to claim my BTG? on: November 26, 2017, 04:34:24 PM
I heard the hardware wallet Ledger nano does support BTG. So if I buy a ledger nano would I be able to claim my BTG on there?
No. You would only be able to store BTG there. But not claim your BTG from your old wallet because there is no import option in Ledger Nano S.
You would need to import your private key in a BTG compatible wallet and then send your Bitcoin Gold to your Ledger Nano S wallet.

You can see which wallets suport BTG in their website: https://bitcoingold.org/

Follow this guide: https://blog.trezor.io/hide-your-trezor-wallets-with-multiple-passphrases-f2e0834026eb

There is even a way to use more than one password to have "secret wallets".
13837  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to get BCH and BTG to Ledger Nano S on: November 25, 2017, 04:56:16 PM
I kept my BTC pre-fork (both) in an Electrum Wallet.

Now I transferred BTC to Ledger Nano S. Electrum is now empty.

How do I get BCH and BTG to the Nano S?
To get your BCH: Download Electron Cash (a Electrum fork for Bitcoin Cash), import your old Electrum wallet and send your BCH to your Nano S Bitcoin Gold address.
To get your BTG: the easiest way I found to get your BTG from an Electrum wallet is by following this guide[1] (requires an android device).

13838  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Help with Electrum first insallation on: November 25, 2017, 04:49:06 PM
Why I am getting 4 outputs as follows?   What are the last 3 strings for?
This means that the sender has sent several diffretent amounts to different addresses in one transaction.

Here is an example:

Let's imagine that you are taking your coins from an exchange. You request a withdraw of 0.5BTC and the exchange mark your request as "Pending". Some exchanges will send payments in bulk to minimize fees, so they wait until many users request a withdraw and send them all at once. So, the transaction ends up having several outputs:
a. A output of 0.5BTC to your address.
b. A output of 0.15BTC to a random user.
c. A output of 1BTC to another random user.

Another question, why Status is showing 936 confirmations? When I first made the txn it was displaying 168.
This is the amount of confirmations that the transaction has. It's normal to increase with time.
13839  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bonpay Plastic/Virtual Bitcoin Card on: November 25, 2017, 03:14:42 PM
Can you tell me about the countries which you people allow for to get the plastic and virtual card? I think you are also providing the cards to only the residents of Europe  as nowadays all of the crypto debit cards providers provide only to that area.
If that is only for Europe, then please tell us that we will get benefit if we participate to buy shares?
Looking at Bonpay's FAQ, looks like they will do the same as all other major cards and only accept residents from Europe. From their FAQ:

Quote
The Bonpay prepaid cards issuance and delivery is possible for the limited list of countries. If your country is not listed below we will not be able to issue and deliver Bonpay card to your country.

European economic area: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom.

Europe Microstates: Andorra, Monaco, San Marino, Vatican City.

EEA Overseas Territories: Gibraltar, Greenland, Isle of Man, Canary Islands, Madeira, Bailiwick of Jersey, Bailiwick of Guernsey.

Others: Switzerland, Israel, Turkey.

That's expected since they are issued by WaveCrest (the same company as almost every other Bitcoin prepaid card existent). Nothing new to see here...

The Bonpay card is issued by WaveCrest Holdings Limited. WaveCrest Holdings Limited is a licensed electronic money institution by the Gibraltar Financial Services Commission
13840  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Diamond?? on: November 25, 2017, 02:29:39 PM
Nobody supports these shit altcoins. People only care about the money they will earn when they sell their "free airdrop" for more BTC.

It's exactly like the ICO mania. Do you believe in the technology? "No. But it's free/I'm going to profit";
It all started with Bitcoin Cash and here we are with 2 new shitcoins in less than 2 months (Bitcoin Gold and Bitcoin Diamond). I'm just waiting for Bitcoin Copper, Bitcoin Emerald and Bitcoin Moon.  Roll Eyes
