1421  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [BBR] Boolberry: Privacy and Security - Guaranteed[Bittrex/Poloniex]GPU Released on: August 05, 2014, 03:25:48 PM
In my view there is a 'rogue miner' (I don't believe it's cbuchner1) mining a VERY large % of BBR and mass dumping them on Poloniex.

It doesn't have to be a miner. Could be an investor who has had enough.

Looking at the longterm difficulty chart it seems apparent that rental farm miners are currently pulling out:

I like this trend, as it means my little home farm will find more blocks.

Christian

And now you mock.  Piss off.
1422  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [BBR] Boolberry: Privacy and Security - Guaranteed[Bittrex/Poloniex]GPU Released on: August 05, 2014, 03:21:34 PM
our coin was hurt much by cbuchner/pttx private GPU miner(now we have open source GPU, it was released just more than week ago)

to be fair, it's probably better that he sells them as they come. it's a constant damper on the price but we'd have no future at all if he decided to just hold whatever huge amount of coins he mined!

We were a team of four, and only two of us had the knowledge to run AWS farms. I never rented any AWS servers myself (surprise?)

We sold off the majority of what we mined to cover operating costs, to limit risk and to secure profits - making us no different from any
most other miners.

Our big scale farming operations are now pretty much shut down due to lack of profitability. Some of us still do home mining with 750 Ti's or other gear.

I still hold 15000 BBR as a long term investment.

Yeah.... And you still have not released your miner Wink

cbuchner1 stated that he would release the GPU miner once stratum pool support was finished.  He didn't.  Where I come from when you say you're going to do something and then don't that's called a lie.  It is what it.  I stated in another post that cbuchner1 has the right to do whatever he wants with his miner.  He also has the right to lie if he wishes.  I guess he wishes to keep his miner private and lie about releasing it.

OnyxCoin, bless his prepubescent little heart, dumped his entire damn premine for – get this – a whopping 1.5 BTC.

Yes, the developer of the original OnyxCoin dumped his pre-mine for an estimated 1.3 BTC -- leaving the coin's market crashed and community alone. We will be re-launching with a new blockchain and no pre-mine.

Why?
1425  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: August 04, 2014, 02:58:09 PM
Yes curious isn't it?  They have stated that a new website was just about ready more than once.  If they don't care about a website then they should just say so.  It doesn't make much sense.  It's not rocket science.  My twelve year old niece could put up a better website in a couple of hours.  But in the end it's really about the coin.  And this coin is starting to lose it's appeal.  At least for me.  Especially with the blatant manipulation by a few large holders.

Really? Your twelve year old niece could prepare guides for every platform on how to install and use Monero, replete with screenshots, in the midst of moving goalposts? Your twelve year old niece could prepare technical reference material for developers that want to use Monero in backend systems? Your twelve year old niece sounds incredible - please put her in touch with us and we will pay her for the couple of hours she has to spend putting this together.

I can understand your annoyance with my post.  Perhaps I should be more clear.   My twelve year old niece could greatly improve the look and feel of the current website and the content on it.  Just go to the webpage and click on the "Getting Started" link.  The layout is horrible.  Text is all over the place, there's not enough left margin, the menu that is on every other page is missing.  I only bring this up because there have been numerous posts from one member or another of the "Team" stating that the "Final Touches" were being put on the new website.  This was over a month ago.  There have also been numerous individuals that have volunteered to help and their offers were declined.  Maybe a new website is about to be unveiled and in that case I'll be eating crow.

My concern is that people that are already having difficulty with some of the various issues that Monero suffers from like lack of a finalized GUI, blockchain size issues, etc...  are going to be put off even more by the sorry shape of the website.  The underlying technology for Monero should always be the highest priority.  But image matters and people go to the web to find information.  When they go to the Monero.cc website all they find is a mess.  Please understand that many people actually place a priority on a good name and fancy logo.  I'm not one of them but I read posts all the time like "Good coin, I like the logo", or "Nice website", without any mention of the actual coin specifications.  That's the way things are and it isn't going to change.  I just think it would be in Monero's best interests to clean up the website.  I should have approached the topic differently than I did but it is what it is and I stand behind my criticism of the website.  As an early miner/investor/holder of Monero I can and will voice my opinion.  I'm sure that in this case it is shared by more than just a few.

i don't know why everyone is whining aboutt he 7 years thing ... as i said every spec could be changed ... i don't even have a source code yet ....

You don't have anything so you want people to buy into your IPO so you can make a coin.  Why don't you invest some of your funds first so people know you're serious and come back when you have something more.  As it stands right now you don't have anything except your hand out.

Good luck with that.

1427  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: August 03, 2014, 06:28:17 PM
Almost two months ago the devs turned away people volunteering to help on the web design, saying that they were working on it, and had a new site design that would be ready "very soon".

Are there any preliminary agenda regarding monero.cc improvements? Or is it a special intention to keep it looking like abandoned home page as long as possible?  Wink

Surely it's a minor task but some people still consider web site as a face of the project.

Both its appearance and presentation of the information could be much better organized and it's neither difficult and time consuming nor expensive. Even a simple ready site template, for example from http://themeforest.net/ can help to advance the current level in order of magnitude.

Guys,be careful. There is a point before the signature. The email adress have a point.Dev should fix it!

Be careful?  Why?  Dev is honest.  There is no need for escrow.  I will be signing papers within the hour for a mortgage on my home to invest in this.  I will be using the money to invest in this IPO.  This will make me rich beyond my wildest dreams.  Dev is a visionary.  This coin is the future.  It will replace Bitcoin.  I see the value of this coin being at least ten times the price of Bitcoin within a month.  I'm going to go look at expensive Sports Cars while I wait for the Bank to call me back to go sign the papers for the mortgage on my house.  If I had time I would go down to the Marina and start shopping for Yachts as well.

Oh the things I'll do with all my profits from this IPO.  I've been dreaming for an opportunity like this all my life and now it's here.  Just thinking about the profit that awaits me makes me feel all warm and inside.  I'm going to call all my friends and family to tell them about this great opportunity.  They need to invest everything they have in this.  It's a chance of a lifetime.

Dev, did you get that 25 Bitcoin?  When do I get my coins?

Wow!  What a great opportunity!  I am very interested in this.  I only wish that I had more btc available to invest in this.  I only have 25 btc that I can access right now but I will be sending it to the Bitcoin address that you have posted in the ANN.  You should receive the 25 Bitcoin within the hour.  In the meantime, I will be going to my bank to negotiate a mortgage on my house so that I can invest even more.

I am happy to become a part of this wonderful opportunity.  I know that this coin will go straight to the moon and we will all become rich beyond our wildest dreams.

Keep up the good work!  This is the best coin ever!  Woot woot!

Gonna be rich!   Yee haw!  Yowser and whoop dee do!

1434  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | Fork for Masternode Payment on: July 30, 2014, 11:40:21 PM
From discussion of the newly-proposed NY law for crypto:

"One particularly controversial aspect of the law appears to ban the creation of any new cryptocurrency by an unlicensed entity. This would not only put a stop to virtual currency innovation (other Bitcoin-like monies include Litecoin, Peercoin, and the mostly satirical Dogecoin) but could theoretically put Bitcoin’s anonymous creator, known by the name Satoshi Nakamoto, in danger of prosecution if he failed to apply for a BitLicense." (Plenty more. It's not pretty)

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=699600.msg7915278#msg7915278

Implications for DRK?

I think there is sufficient room for interpretation around this aspect to make the regulations unhelpful.

The section that is relevant is

section 200.2

(n) Virtual Currency Business Activity means the conduct of any one of the following types of activities
involving New York or a New York Resident:

(1) receiving Virtual Currency for transmission or transmitting the same;
(2) securing, storing, holding, or maintaining custody or control of Virtual Currency on behalf of others;
(3) buying and selling Virtual Currency as a customer business;
(4) performing retail conversion services, including the conversion or exchange of Fiat Currency or
other value into Virtual Currency, the conversion or exchange of Virtual Currency into Fiat Currency or other
value, or the conversion or exchange of one form of Virtual Currency into another form of Virtual Currency; or
(5) controlling, administering, or issuing a Virtual Currency.

If the creators or the administrators carry out their 'conduct' in New York or involve a NY resident, then it is clear cut that issuing or administrating code, e.g. uploading crypto code to github for distribution, would require registration as a business.

The difficulties are:

1. What is the business that a coin issuer or administrator conducts, especially if they do their work for free?
2. Do individual volunteers have to register as individual businesses?
3. What if you issue a coin in Japan, yet someone living in NY contributes a few lines of code?

What is very unclear is whether someone living in Arizona would be considered as requiring registration in NY as a business if someone in NY acting as a consumer simply uses a currency. I doubt it.  Terms of reference in this section talk of 'conduct' i.e. carrying out activity relative to 'controlling, administering or issuing.'

Regulatory licences for any type of existing activities typically target a control test. They try to make businesses disclose sufficient information to identify those who ultimately might indirectly control a business, e.g significant shareholders (who may not be employees or officers; they may be acting through other businesses or from overseas).

Those that release a coin or contribute code to it might be consider as having some control. That remains true until a coin becomes sufficiently decentralised that new code releases could be forked and rejected by a sufficient number of clients.

How does this impact on DRK? It doesn't. It might if these regulations were adopted by Arizona or by the Federal government.

Is Satoshi under threat? Not likely. He doesn't control Bitcoin. However, if the regulations extended their definition of control to include those with a significant holding of a virtual currency, that could be challenged in the courts, but it is sufficiently grey that it could go either way.

Do significant holders of the global gold or diamond reserves have to disclose who they are? If someone accumulated significant cash and stored it under their house, would they need to disclose themselves?

With Darkcoin going anon, how can anyone prove how much eCash a DRK holder has? They can't. Whereas with Bitcoin they can. That is a good enough reason to go DRK as a hedge as anyone with any significant amounts of Bitcoin or Litecoin really needs.

Like I said before:

* You sold your eCash, when you should have hodl your eCash. ha ha.

* To da moon.

This is one for the US State regulators.

Pushing for such regulations will push Bitcoin out of the USA. That was not the intention, but it is the unintended consequence from the scope of this first beta release draft regulations.  That is why the price of Bitcoin is dropping.

If you push Bitcoin out of the USA, and make it difficult for US users to access Bitcoin without fear of penalty, lets face it Crypto has no real borders, than all you are doing is encouraging crypto currencies to develop new features.

Features such as IP Obfuscation which allows users to transact outside of the USA without you knowing.

Drive miners, code developers, exchanges out of the USA, but allow the users to buy goods with crypto, and you effectively offshore the business aspect of crypto, encourage users to access anon payment tools so they can buy / sell bitcoin in countries that are welcoming of Bitcoin, but encourage them to bring the coins back to the USA to buy stuff with. Huh

You're not regulating anything at that point. You're just facilitating the demand for anon payment tools.

Hmm, if these regulations take hold in the US it doesn't look good for masterminodes hosted in the US at places like Amazon.  Other countries could follow suit.  That's why the masterminded network although the thing that makes Darkroom anonymous is also it's biggest weakness.

You can't mine this coin.  It was the first IPO on Poloniex a few months ago.  Myself and many others made a ton of money off of it.  If I remember correctly the IPO was for .001 a coin and went all the way up to .04 before crashing hard.  I got out close to the top with a nice stack of btc profit.   Looks like its selling for close to the original IPO price right now.  You'll have to buy it off the exchange if you want some.

I have said before that the launch was far from optimal, I wish it went smoother. And I believe I share mostly everyone's view on this. So what's your point? Difference between me and you is that I stopped crying about it 6 months ago.

Ha ha, I'm not crying about any instamine.  The only time I even bring it up is to quote you after you make one of your lame posts directed at me.  I enjoy pointing out how you did a flip flop and that you were the original fudster in this thread.  Now you're just another fanboy following the crowd.

Hi gang.  can someone please explain who and why posts are getting deleted? i thpught thus was an unmoderated forum?!?

appearently it is not.. got some posts of mine removed as well. Appearently some bitcoin forum moderators are dickheads

The forum owner can delete any post they want.  It's their forum and they're doing people a favor by allowing them to use their forum for free.

If I was the owner of this forum I would ban you for calling me a dickhead and then blacklist every IP you've ever connected from.

You don't like the way this forum is run then go start your own.  Pretty simple solution isn't it?

My posts have been deleted as well.  But I understand that I am using this forum for free so I am not going to complain about the owners deleting my posts from THIER forum.

A reply of yours, quoted below, was deleted by a Bitcoin Forum moderator. Posts are most frequently deleted because they are off-topic, though they can also be deleted for other reasons. In the future, please avoid posting things that need to be deleted.

First, the moderators are most likely not owners.
Second, I'm grateful you're not the forum owner. Though, if you were, it seems likely this forum would be dead, and users would've migrated to a better one.
Third, agreed. Not too much to gain by complaining.

lol
pwnd

Yeah right.

A bunch of cry babies crying over deleted posts and your making fun of me?

You're really not anyone to talk about anything.  Weren't you the first one to call out the instamine?  Now you're one of the biggest supporters.  Why is that?  How many of those early coins ended up in your wallet?

Remember this post from back in January just hours after XCoin/Darkcoin launched?  You were the first person spreading "FUD" in this thread.  Now you're one of the biggest fanboys.  Too funny.

It would be so hard to realse a coin with compiled wallets? Oo
No but it would be hard for dev to instamine with them.
1440  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | RC4 Testing on: July 30, 2014, 04:10:41 PM
Hi gang.  can someone please explain who and why posts are getting deleted? i thpught thus was an unmoderated forum?!?

Some people just delete their posts, I believe for privacy reasons. IDK why though, that shit stays on the internet forever via caching services like Google. I see it in a lot of threads. It was very common from certain people in the speculation thread, they even said that's what they were doing.

thats not the case here.. people are getting pm from bitcoin forum moderators telling them that their post has been removed due to ''off topic reasons or other reasons''

In this thread specifically? If so that's just odd considering shojaxyt et al. spam the fuck out of this thread with pure drivel and their posts remain intact.

I've had plenty of posts deleted from this thread.  And no it's not just this thread.  I've had posts deleted from other threads as well for reasons unknown to me.  I don't worry about it because it's not my forum.  I'm given free access to use this forum and as such I have no expectations.

To those people whining about deleted posts, how about this.  GO START YOUR OWN FORUM if you don't like it here.
