Yes, I actually like this "shit".  Unlike other new coins, devs are not hiding behind newbie accounts and they're genuinely helpful. Had some luck and mined a few blocks last night, but I doubt I'll get anything today. Like many people here, sure I had problems with wallet, with linux source, etc... finally got it compiled in the end. The thing I don't understand from the devs is why the precompiled linux binaries weren't statically linked so that people can grab and start mining right away? Because they didn't want everyone to be able to mine until they got all the low difficulty coins. It's just another way to instamine/premine while looking like you're not. |

The level of hostility and tit-for-tat retorts against Bobsurplus and Shojayxt has gone to fever pitch. What happened to just ignoring these guys?
Think back to your school days. What was the most effective tool against a playground bully? To ignore them. They hate being ignored because a lack of response from you is the very worst of experiences for them. And when you do this they ratchet up the pressure and get much louder. And if you continue to ignore them they get even LOUDER. And then, with continued ignoring they enter into a frothing-at-the-mouth phase where it's so extreme they end up making a complete spectacle of themselves.
The problem here is that we're failing to ignore them (even after everyone's said they would). To "ignore" means exactly that. It's to not respond at all on any level to a single posting. It means don't even use a blank quote box (so that you're not reiterating their words); the mere fact you're writing a responding post means you've not ignored them. Just don't respond AT ALL. They will get louder and louder but will suddenly vanish. That's how it works.
It is obvious to anyone that has any experience at all with human nature that Bobsurplus and Shojayxt are worried about DRK's likely success and feel a desperate need to put DRK, and everyone here that believes in it, down. As someone pointed out, we should be flattered. But their venom and nastiness will just disappear if we truly ignore them in every respect.
I know you won't reply since you're ignoring me but I'll ask the question anyway. Why would I be worried about DRK being successful? The sun still shines, the sky is still blue, and the grass is still green. Oh damn DRK is successful! It's the end of the world. I'm worried! DRK's value will be dependent on developing features beyond anonymity, which, as I alluded to, will not be a distinguishing feature from BTC with the advent of anonymizing wallets. I'd be interested to hear about some of these features that are on the development horizon.
Each master node is hosted on a server. So far, over 800 decentralised servers, with proof of their readiness to serve. What exactly do you want to host on such a decentralised platform? Decentralised anonymous corporation stock exchange? Decentralised markets? What do you fancy selling, or buying? Decentralised exchanges? Decentralised Enigma 2.0 messaging? Decentralised etc, etc Are you serious? A decentralised anonymous corporation stock exchange? I'm sure that the SEC and IRS are really going to approve of that. That might fly in some third world or Eastern Bloc country but never in the United States. With impending regulation regarding Bitcoin what makes you think an anonymous coin is safe? That's why anonymous coins are just an underground fad right now. They will never gain mainstream adoption because of the anonymity that will be a catalyst for nations around the world to implement more restrictive regulations regarding cryptocurrency transactions. The reason Bitcoin will survive is because it is not anonymous and they plan on staying that way. DRK will only have a use for p2p transactions or nefarious underground websites. You people are kidding yourselves if you think that governments around the world are not going to shut something down that allows masses of people to buy and sell, transfer and receive funds without some way for them to track those transactions to ensure that you're not money laundering, funding terrorists, or failing to pay taxes. I didn't even realize that so many MNs were created in the past few days (just looking at the charts right now). We are nearing the 1k milestone. We might see it before RC4 hits. Yea it's pretty remarkable. If the price drops a bit more I think we'll see even more MNs come online as they become more affordable to acquire. As a holder of DRK myself, obviously a price decline is not the most pleasant thing, but on the other hand it's increasing MN distribution, so it's a double edged sword. I remember people going on and on about the price going up with more masternodes when if fact the opposite has happened. |

First of all, I welcome any dissenting views to the following, which will understandably be labelled as FUD.
Although I am an admirer of this coin and the ingenuity of its developers, I am extremely confident that DarkCoin's market cap is on the verge of declining precipitously (without hope of recovery). The primary reason is that anonymity as the coin's central feature ceases to be of value in the context of emerging applications that promise to make BTC itself completely anonymous (DarkWallet, etc.). Unless you can afford to lose your entire investment, I would sell now. My own view is that the most promising potential future altcoin will be one that addresses Bitcoin's shortcomings with regard to confirmation speed, etc.; important for merchant adoption and online gambling.

Hi Piggo...we all set our own goals and expectations. My belief is that this coin is very young. Its in no way fully mature...I expect hic ups...I expect hurdles...this is the evolution of development. 8 months is no where long enough... I'm are looking at the very long term, 2 to 3 years minimum. By that time there would be real world applications, robust coding that have been tried over time and exploits, if any would be fixed and the code hardened. This though takes time...and takes real world use to truly test code. That being said... There are many that wish to make this a quick investment and that is great as well. What would be great also is to have people stick around for the long term to help develop this into a real merchant solution for example and help roll out implementation. Are you serious? 2 to 3 years? What do you think this coin is? Bitcoin? You don't have 2 or 3 years. In 2 or 3 years something better will be here and DRK will be nothing more than a memory. The only coin that is sure to be here in 2 to 3 years is Bitcoin which is already being adopted by major merchants. I wonder how many people bought into DRK with the goal of waiting 2 or 3 years. But I'm sure you'll soon have the same crowd posting about this being a good coin, I'll mine this, etc... Then the usual pools will start posting their ads. A few hours after launch people will be asking about an exchange. Within a day or two your coin will be listed on bittrex and the price will crash after the initial sell orders. You'll disapear and launch another shitcoin.
But please, can you explain what good this coin is and what it will ever be used for? Because right now there are already hundreds of shitcoins just like this one. What makes this shit stand out?
