1421  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Selling BTC for CASH in the United Kingdom on: August 23, 2017, 02:12:19 PM

I've seen a couple people say speak with the bank manager first but how can you do that if UK banks are generally anti crypto? If you move small amounts it looks pretty bad also some people have said.   Now with kraken out of the picutre options are also limited.  Some people have suggest coinfloor, any thoughts?
1422  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Kraken: Temporary Suspension of Advanced Order Types and Delisting Pairs on: August 22, 2017, 07:44:09 AM
Kraken have told me over email that GBP trading remains on pairs BTC and ETH but when i look at the site i cant see anything.  I dont know if their support isn't up to date with the latest information or what.  Can anyone confirm GBP trading is still available? i dont know how you can cash out or buy BT with GBP without the option to have GBP in the first place.
1423  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Does Bitcoin Cash have a chance at overtaking Bitcoin? on: August 21, 2017, 11:30:36 AM
Anybody else getting worried that this may be a possibility?  Huh
The volume is faked in Korea by Roger Ver.

Roger Ver owns most of the coins.

Most of the coins are owned by people who owned bitcoin pre aug 1st.  I doubt ver has more than a few hundred k Bcash, which is alot yes but its been reported he had 300k bitcoin anyway.  I should imagine a large % of people haven't touched their pre aug 1st bitcoin, probably like 80-90%. We have another potential fork coming also, just sit back and get rich off the forks imo.
1424  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: What is escrow or escrowing on: August 21, 2017, 11:26:29 AM
Need some infos about this thanks for advance

It is where a 3rd party helps in the process of trade from 1 entity to another.  Bitcoin has no chargeback options you see so if you send some bits to buy something from someone and they dont send you the product there is nothing you can do.  Escrow holds the money until everyone is happy with the trade and then releases it on order.  Escrow usually asks for small fee for their services. Make sure you use reputable escrow as there can be scam escrows aswell.
1425  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitstamp, how to track a transaction? on: August 21, 2017, 09:34:44 AM

On withdraw, bitstamp should give you an id which you can use on eitherscan.io (i think it is) to track - like you would on blockchain.info for BTC (also think blockchain.info just added eth).  Check your withdraw section at bitstamp.  It also could be your withdraw was cancelled for unknown reason, if so check your balance or email support.
1426  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [OFFICIAL]Bitfinex.com first Bitcoin P2P lending platform for leverage trading on: August 20, 2017, 12:53:21 PM
So, one question here... Those that are NOT US Citizens, can they withdraw dollars (After verifying)?
Most likely not, they were talking about manual one-off deals to withdraw 50k+ USD at once a while back, but so far it still seems that the fiat channels on Bitfinex are quite lacking.

If you go on the withdraw section of the bitfinex site and click through to try and withdraw USD you get a message pop up for one time withdraws of over $50k so i guess you contact support and go from there.

On other issues, not sure about the shit coins but i wouldn't want to deal with USA either ongoing.
1427  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Vircurex.com a fraud ? on: August 20, 2017, 12:48:44 PM
Is vircurex actually still a working exchange? wow not heard about these guys in a while. I had account there and used to arb between them and BTC-e.  The exchange did work pretty good for a while although it did have a dated feel. They ended up holding everyones money with withdraw limits. Lucky for me at the time i had little money in there.
1428  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Theymos's list of altcoins with some technical merit on: August 19, 2017, 03:59:06 PM
How can Bitcoin be 100 and Litecoin which is a clone is 0?
It doesn't take a genius to see how that doesn't make sense.
In fact, Litecoin is BETTER than Bitcoin in many ways, considering Bitcoin continues stealing from Litecoin innovations. (i.e. Segwit, Lightning Network)
Litecoin is basically a testing coin for Bitcoin.
It is almost as though they planned it from the start to be that way.

I guess his reasoning is anyone can copy bitcoin right now, so are we supposed to give credit for that each time? If we fast forward 20 years or so what are the real chances of litecoin being around? do we really need it? Testing networks worth billions in market cap right now, this space has gone crazy.
1429  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin: $100K in 2021? on: August 19, 2017, 08:52:39 AM
100k $ in 4 years is quite difficult, eventhough that bitcoin got a very good rally in this year but 100k is a big number,it need a very large support, it may be needing legality from a lot of country and bitcoin need a very huge support to reach a very high transaction volume, it is possible but the chance is low consider the time is only 4 years

When a country like japan who has made it legal get to grips with it more and more those figures are possible.  People will compare it with gold market cap as a reason for it not to be able to go to 100k etc but gold has limited use in comparison and we are in the digital age now.  Also because we have gone to 4k so easy and held its not much to stretch the imagination a bit further to 100k is it?
1430  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Theymos's list of altcoins with some technical merit on: August 19, 2017, 08:40:50 AM

I take from this post to hold bitcoin and mostly ignore alts, i agree Smiley.  What about namecoin you could do a review of that also? my understanding was that namecoin did infact offer something unique. Also what about blackbytes - which are linked to byteball and apparently anonymous - they are currently not traded on any exchange.

1432  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Where are updates on BTC-E and recovering coins? on: August 18, 2017, 07:58:14 AM
I had some DASH on BTC-E when the domain was seized. Someone told me to go to bitointalk.org to get updates. I tried searching but get error messages. Can anyone point me to where I can get updates on BTC-E?

Thanks!

r/btce is showing all the updates to easily find + also some extra talk and speculation on btce specifically.  Looks like you will be getting 55% back and a IOU for 45% in form of a tradable token.
1433  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Aug 1 summary on: August 17, 2017, 09:28:26 AM
Just so I understand this right... Would this procedure sound ok:

1) send my BTC from my core wallet v0.14.2 to Bittrex
Don't send to an exchange. Create a new wallet and transfer to it.

Why dont send to exchange? do you consder there is a risk of sending you BCH by accident with core wallet? or you just making a general warning against putting any BTC in exchanges?
1434  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: August 16, 2017, 11:51:25 AM
Next round, 1btc will only get 0.000625GB?  1/10 less than before? Why?

Probably because the giveaways have been killing the price of late + they wont have many giveaways left. Glad i held all my blackbytes up to now since they are going to be hard to get also.
1435  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Poll: Most dangerous country in the world at the moment on: August 16, 2017, 11:15:33 AM

Depends on how you mean but USA is very powerful and volatile. A country like north korea could cause a war but its more likely to be contained. USA can take us all out pretty easy.

From living within context, being rich in the USA is a decent life whereas being poor in the USA is a below average life vs 1st world country averages.  If you are poor in the UK you have healthcare covered at least.
1436  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Turn $10,000 into 1 Million on: August 16, 2017, 06:47:17 AM

Wondering what your dollar gains are at this point? wasn't able to see.  If you not comfortable with posting fair enough but would make for a better thread Smiley.

Also, you actually holding ltc right now? i cant see how ltc could out perform btc over next year or 2. Anyhow good luck, will keep an eye on updates.
1437  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Buy Bitcoin through neteller on: August 16, 2017, 06:40:32 AM
Hi, I'm new to this forum, I would like to know how to buy Bitcoin through neteller, since I'm from India so I can't use any uk exchanges which allows me to buy. There is few sellers in local Bitcoin but the lowest rate is around 5000 when Bitcoin is 4100. Do they negotiate or any other options? Plz help if possible

but,you can hire an escrow as a middle man for your trade in that Board for your safety.

If they are buying via neteller they ont need an escrow for their safety its the seller who needs escrow to cover potential chargeback.  I should imagine as buying through neteller sellers will only allow you to purchase small amount until trust is built.
1438  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Aug 1 summary on: August 15, 2017, 10:38:00 AM
Strange,

when i send BTC to a new wallet, the BCC gets sent with it.
When the old, empty BTC key is imported into bitcoinABC wallet it shows the BCC moved also with the btc.  Undecided

I've been told that is not possible? which wallet did you use to send out the BTC?
1439  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Aug 1 summary on: August 14, 2017, 06:27:06 PM
In order for this to work.

Im looking for a video of how to do it from corewallet.

Hey buddy,

Can you do me a favour and link me to CoreWallet

I'm using this wallet currently: https://bitcoin.org/en/wallets/desktop/windows/bitcoincore/

What i'll probably do is move all the bitcoin out of my wallet first and then go from there.
1440  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Aug 1 summary on: August 14, 2017, 04:35:11 PM
In order for this to work.

You need to download Bitcoin ABC - then leave your PC on for about 3-4 days, so that the BlockChain information gets downloaded, you would need 130GB of space on a HDD you'd be using.

You also need to have a wallet which where you had BTC in there between 31 July - 1st August. Wallet can now be Empty and you need to be able to Generate Private Keys from that Wallet.

Then using Bitcoin ABC, you need to use the Console to insert the PrivateKey.

I will need to find a link to the tutorial I used which worked. Will link the Youtube video later.

Kind regards,
-D

Im looking for a video of how to do it from corewallet. If you can make that youtube vid then great - maybe include a few different ways. Put up a donation address and if i like the tutorial i will send you a decent tip after. Include no dodgy scammy stuff, like unknown links/downloads please.

What an exchange needs to do or another wallet software needs to do is offer a feature where you can just upload your wallet.dat and your BCH is all there instantly.
