14221  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DogeCoin already bigger than Litecoin on: February 01, 2014, 02:06:44 AM
An interesting question for all coins is -

How much does it cost to maintain the coin at its current price level?

It gives you an idea of how much money is currently flowing into the coin, and resources being used to secure a coin's network. It's easy to work out - you take the current price and multiply it by the number of new coins created each day. I've compiled a list and it currently has some interesting coins at the top, and some interesting coins at the bottom - here it is

Top Coins
Bitcoin -     800x25x6x24 =           2.880M
DogeCoin -    0.0018x500000x60x24 =   1.296M
Litecoin -    20.57x50x24x24 =        0.592M
Mooncoin -    0.00019x1000000x40x24 = 182,400
Peercoin -    4.53x114.44x6x24 =       74,651
ProtoShares - 10.20x16.177x12x24 =     47,521
WorldCoin -   0.29x53x120x24 =        45,792
Primecoin -   2.65x10x60x24 =          38,160
Namecoin -    4.88x50x6x24 =           35,136
Feathercoin - 0.27x200x24x24 =         31,104
Novacoin -    12.72x9.3x6x24 =         17,034
MemoryCoin -  0.20x216x10x24 =         10,368
Megacoin - 0.57 - 25x24x24 =              8,200
DigitalCoin - 0.2510x15x90x24 =         8,100
Devcoin  - 0.00059 - 50000x6x24 =   4240

Bottom 3 'Big' Coins
IFC      - 8.3e-05 - 4096x120x24 = 979
Quark    - 0.074 - 4x120x24 =      852
Zetacoin - 0.02 = 4x120x24 =       230

*Let me know if I've missed any - just looked at the top20 and the ones i'm interested in.

How about you start computing the resources spent on securing the network. Smiley))
For scrypt coins , the cost with hardware electricity might be easier to figure but in btc case... is one of the 12 labors.

It would be nice to see the daily cost of miners who support these coins and with this we'll have an idea how much they might need to dump to cover bills.

14222  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Should IPOs be banned from the site? Poll on: February 01, 2014, 02:02:31 AM
Unbelievable that within 60 seconds of making the post, there are already five votes against, and five votes for banning.  The unbelievable part is that not a single person that voted no could provide any rational response to my post as to why IPOs should not be treated entirely as scams.  I expect this thread to see a MASSIVE NXT/Ethereum shilling campaign.  The amount of effort and propaganda required to try and debunk the original post is so monumental, we may not see an anti-ban poster reply for weeks, just votes only.

Have you researched every ipo on this forum and all of them were scams?
14223  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Inside story !!! can we help you on: February 01, 2014, 01:55:45 AM
Thread competing in lamest scam ever?
14224  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Should IPOs be banned from the site? Poll on: February 01, 2014, 01:54:01 AM
They should be banned but I'm almost willing to bet they wont be.
Of course 95% are pure scams but for the rest 5% out of which 10% might return some money , people won't stop looking into IPOs
14225  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Looking for altcoin exchanger script on: February 01, 2014, 01:50:32 AM
I've been searching for an exchanger script for a while..
I've stumble upon openex  https://github.com/r3wt/openex
but it seems incomplete and with a few serious bugs

Anyone knows about a better solution. And if not free , at what price ?
It doesn't have to be anything fancy , just to support a few coins pairs.
14226  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [QRK] Quark | Super secure hashing | CPU mining on: February 01, 2014, 01:46:07 AM

Do you remember how BTC spiked around the time of cutting the reward in half?
I was just wondering the same after reading that we are getting the reward cut in half as well in a few days.
So, that means fewer coins to mine. You will have to buy.

The next few weeks will be interesting. Will the QRK network's Hashrate continue going down or will it stabilize due to a price rise? A few factors...

IAS

Honestly I don't remember and the graphs i checked don't remember it either. Smiley
Either way , qrk reward has been cut in half 3 times in the past months and ... nothing.
14227  Other / Politics & Society / Re: PRESIDENTIAL petition to deport Justin Bieber!!! on: February 01, 2014, 01:43:07 AM
Haven't people got better things to be doing or petitioning rather than spending it on Justin Bieber? I mean seriously.
Like...?

Like petitioning that petitioning about justin beaver should not be taken seriously?

14231  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BLUCOIN (BLU) Social Media CryptoCurrency - 1+ Million Coin Giveaway !! on: January 29, 2014, 01:42:36 AM
So after red and black we have blu , next is yello and after that orang.
Anything else for this coin than toying with the block reward?

BluCoin will be used as the single known Social Media Coin of choice amongst consumers.
Sites such as Youtube, Facebook & Vimeo are upon the horizon to take on BluCoin.
We will have not only a secure and well established media-frame, but together with the main Social Networking websites that are coming on board; BluCoin truly has unlimited potential.

Yeah really.
This coin has just earned itself a medal.
Coin with a 7 yo "developer" full of bs.
14232  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BCT is a Dying old war horse . Where Is everyone going? on: January 29, 2014, 01:41:19 AM
Well atleast it will make them realise that most active and most traffic generation was because of alt coins...

I will exchange you any time 1000000000 visitors from india vs  1000 us based ones if you want traffic.

Same thing here. There were lots of people making lots of accounts juts to post in giveaways threads.
And the result? Nothing. Juts useless spam and more work for the mods.

Let's see how the alt coins will evolve if the altsection gets deleted.  Say your prayers.
I bet we won't see any other coin launched in the next week.
14233  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Good name for a coin? on: January 29, 2014, 01:36:54 AM

14234  Economy / Speculation / Re: You're all gonna d(c)ry!!! on: January 29, 2014, 01:26:12 AM
I hope I'm wrong, but this market feels very heavy... I'm out.  (and praying I'm wrong since I own a bitcoin wallet company)

Note to myself. Never to businesses with this guy ever.
Btw , I started laughing when I read your post , not crying.
14235  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Private Key cracker apparently demonstrated on: January 29, 2014, 01:22:02 AM
Fwiw I haven't seen him claim that anywhere in his thread, and honestly think he's well enough versed in math to know he will not be able to crack an address with any amount of bitcoins in it in the foreseeable feature. I don't really know what he's trying to achieve, though.
The thread has several instances of newbie accounts providing single pubkeys which evil claims to crack e.g: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=421842.msg4800547#msg4800547
Ah, I see, my apologies.

edit: he's saying the addresses need to be "generated completely as to the manual" though...

So , I generate an address , send him the private key and then he can crack it? =))))))))))))0

14236  Economy / Economics / Re: [2014-1-28] Let Banks Fail Is Iceland Mantra as 2% Joblessness in Sight on: January 29, 2014, 01:13:50 AM
No mention of bitcoin.

Even though its not related Bitcoin directly, indirectly I think the OP posted this because of the inference of banks failing is not bad for Bitcoin.  Bitcoin is considered by many kind of the "anti-bank" mechanism now and in the future.  If banks fail, its not necessarily good, but it certainly isn't bad.

Have the entire banking system collapse and you'll eat your own words. This if nobody else will eat them first in a hunger panic.
Do you have a clue what that will mean? Thousands of unemployed people and business in ruin ?

Where did I say anything about the entire banking system going down?  I said banks failing.  Banks could be 2 banks, it could be 10 banks.  The more people that distrust banks the better it is for Bitcoin, Gold, precious metals, etc.  Obviously if the whole banking system fails the price of Bitcoins is the least of anyone's concern.  People who think that's good for Bitcoin don't know the real consequences of that.  We've had banks fail in most countries around the world, and in the next 5 years, we will continue to have banks fail in Russia, Greece, Portugal, etc.

Glad to gear you thought it like that.
People don't realize that bitcoin can't and will not replace banks. Banks will continue to survive even in a bitcoin ecosystem.

14240  Economy / Goods / Re: Selling empty water bottles on: January 28, 2014, 11:42:22 PM
If anyone is interested in filling those bottles I'm selling water very cheap 0.01BTC for 1l.
It's from unknown sources so you might consider it extremely rare , and could go up in price in the next 10 000 years.
