My advice to folks: It's too late to get into Bitcoin mining at this stage.  Don't even try anymore unless you just want to do it for fun and learn how the process works--which is totally a fine thing to do as long as you understand you won't make any money.
It is a very strange advice for the person who wants to BTC's system evolved

What's strange about that?  It's the truth for most miners who would try to enter now. No commercial miner on sale right now is projected to earn a profit.  Mining can teach you the behind the scenes stuff of how mining functions and how difficulty increases and so forth (learning through hands-on).

Yay, Moonbean!

Even a broken clock is correct twice a day!

Good.  Now if only he could help bring down utility rates that are higher than most parts of Europe.  $0.35c/KWh from non-green energy, really?  Stupid CPUC.
1443  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ashton Kutcher Says Buy Bitcoin on: June 29, 2014, 08:07:39 AM
I'm going to go buy a coat, hell is freezing over.  I just need Obama to say there's not a smidgeon of terrorism associated with Bitcoin and I'll dump it all.
1444  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: US Marshall's Bitcoin Auction Results on: June 29, 2014, 08:04:36 AM
Yeah I'm sure they'll find some way to obfuscate the press release and make you wonder what the true numbers are.  Government talk takes years to decipher.

It wouldn't really be a perfect world if somebody is running an energy inefficient miner.  Now if the government recycled the old miners and gave you newer SP30s or something like that  Grin

Best of luck on your endeavors BJ.  I have family that live just south of your district.  While just as liberal as CA, I have noticed WA gets stuff done like the light rail that is being built near SeaTac airport.  In LA that project would takes about 3 decades  Shocked
1447  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Cryptocurrency Lawyers for hire on: June 29, 2014, 07:15:09 AM
Not sure why others post jibberish. This thread is for lawyers who specialize in cryptocurrency law to advertise themselves.

Well it's not really gibberish.  He's posting the incorporation info.  I run a business myself as does my wife.  I don't consider that info gibberish.  Neither does the state of CA with respect to professional business behavior.

Anywho, is CryptoCurrencyInc.com looking for agents or do they represent established attorneys?  One of the most notoriously brazen BTC thefts occurred in Illinois perpetrated by Hashking.  I still believe many would like to see him brought to justice for his theft of coins.

Over 10,000 BTC in the collapse of pirateat40 Trendon (fucking bastard) Shaver's Bitcoin Savings and Trust ponzi scheme.

I wonder what that would be worth today...

Yeah BurtW lost a few more than me, but probably because he got in earlier.  I didn't get in until May and that was stupid.  I should have doubled and ran but max.btc didn't respond to my PMs since he ran off with the money most likely.

Let's go buy some pitchforks and fly down to Texas, we can bring Chuck Norris with us  Shocked
1449  Other / Off-topic / Re: How to get fancy addresses? on: June 29, 2014, 07:06:36 AM
hi zakhir bro.. you can get a random fancy address by using vanitygen.. its easy to use its come with guide..

It is easy to use but requires some hashing power.

It would easier to put up a bounty and list acceptable optionals and bounty reward.  Let other people do the work and pay them in crypto!

Yeah I love animals too but any observer of animals will admit some species or breeds are just more short tempered than other animals.  Even in the primate world we can see that plains baboons are often much more aggressive the jungle baboons.  Pit-bulls were bred to be aggressive.

Sadly the pit-bull owner will probably not feel any pain having his dog put down.  Usually it's some negligent guy who has the dog as a lookout (not all pit-bull owner, just ones who don't train their pets).  If he wants to treat his dog like property, take his dog away by having it put down (which is what the police animal control will probably do).

1452  Other / Off-topic / Re: Why are people on bitcointalk so goddamn bitter? on: June 29, 2014, 06:43:22 AM
Scottie, make a Facebook page.  if your need is truly legitimate you don't need to worry about being called out.  People will donate funds to you.  People who don't even know you.  Make it real, be honest.  And as you said don't be bitter (which you are starting to sound).
1453  Other / Off-topic / Re: Your Highest Loss IN A Day on: June 29, 2014, 06:40:19 AM
642BTC the day pay.btc stopped responding to PMs and ran off.  Pirate's ponzi was the same as gambling Angry
1454  Other / Off-topic / Re: Ergonomic Chairs on: June 29, 2014, 06:32:31 AM
What is the price of Herman Miller?
Mine was $1.2k - the executive model.

Apple computer. No thanks. But this chair is very good in my opinion.

don't be silly. apple computer for the win. roll with style and quality bro.

Style?  You picking up your date riding on the iMac?

When your PC becomes part of the decor you have too much money.  If you have money to burn, hide the PC entirely and install a movie studio or dance floor... or for you maybe a waterbed with lava lamp  Grin

Back on topic, tempurpedic makes some decent chairs that are as good as HM and cost less.  I got an almost new one on clearance at Staples for $150 and it feels nicer with foam than my $560 leather/burled wood one does.
1455  Other / Off-topic / Re: How to get fancy addresses? on: June 29, 2014, 06:30:09 AM
What is the longest vanity address ever created in bitcoin thus far?

is it 8 characters? If 7 can take days...
Probably in the realm of ten to twelve, case-insensitive and not specifically at the beginning of the address.
How would you make certain characters in the vanity ?
So like
1ahdjeMshdjsOajdjdaRajdjsEdhsIA

The characters being M, O, R, E, I and A

Is that what you're talking about?

No he means like

1s9kMoreIAls7dn3...
or 1MOreIa9akdjwefu7676fs...

If you want 1MOREIA.... or 1Moreia... it will take a lot more crunching.  Each letter is exponentially more work.  Asking to be case sensitive is like asking for another letter.
1456  Other / Off-topic / Re: Fuck Summer! on: June 29, 2014, 06:25:09 AM
It is funny, but we are created in this way , if it is hot we want cold and if it is cold we want sunshine and hot... when it rains i want to go out for a walk in the sunshine and when it is sun i beg for some rain  Cheesy Cheesy sometimes we act and react very very interesting ,so i would not say fuck summer, and also not fuck winter

No.

It's winter where I am and it's not cold enough. I still say "Fuck summer".

Yeah no as well.
On the other hand I like summer, even in those days where the heat is in triple digits.

I hope to god you live in the US and are measuring temperatures in Fahrenheit, then!

Ahh yes those triple Centigrade days on Earth.  They happen, but only when the Earth is hollow... wait this isn't Dank's Earth is hollow thread.

Yeah the news says triple digit temps - doesn't make sense to most of the world who lives in Centigrade.  WTF is everybody boiling!?!
1457  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Windows cold storage? on: June 29, 2014, 06:15:43 AM
If you have a significant amount of coins and you really don't need access to them constantly, put them in cold storage and offline.  Use Armory and make a offline wallet for the coins.  Armory is very simple to use and has been under development for quite some time.  Also check out the other wallets - each has it's own niche.

It seems to me that if people are that afraid of cex.io, they should fund an alternative that is just as good. There is no competition for cex.io, and that in a nutshell is the true problem.
I actually agree with this statement.

If everyone is so hyped about cex.io, why doesn't someone start a counter-hashing company to help repel some of the cex.io/GHash mining?

Sure, it'd be expensive, but you can always say that you're there to counter the possible 51% from cex.io. That'd be enough to get people flocking to it and funding it.

In fact, why hasn't anyone started this yet? It's a kind of good idea, and it would bring some variation to the community. I'd possible back it...

But cheap GH/s. Not the 0.0075 cex.io crap.

Perhaps you don't not visit the Mining/Pools section of the forum.  There are plenty of alternatives, and some are better than Ghash.IO.  People just see FREE and run to it.  You know there are people who would stand in line for FREE Urine just because it's free.

I think with the new AM Gen3 chips shipping out the network will balance out more.
1459  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: guidance needed Thanks! on: June 29, 2014, 06:08:05 AM
Before you jump onto the mining train, please consider this advice from a veteran miner:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=663066.msg7514953#msg7514953

Basically do it for fun, for stealthiness (which you won't get unless you plop down at least $500K), or to help support the network at your pocket's expense.  Don't do it for economic reasons.
1460  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Mining Bitcoins with old rigs on: June 29, 2014, 06:04:38 AM
In 2011 I was making 0.2BTC/day off of just one $150 6870.  I made no objections to anybody mining back then because it made sense.  Now you have to really understand the risks.  Plopping down $3k for 10 high end video cards and eating depreciation only to see them make $5 a day might be pretty disparaging. Risk analysis is needed.
