14741  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is the best way to store my cryptocurrenices on: June 16, 2017, 01:40:18 AM
If you can, I highly recommend you to buy a hardware wallet, mainly if you are planning to store big amounts of Bitcoin in there.
Here are the most recommended ones:

https://trezor.io
https://www.ledgerwallet.com
https://www.keepkey.com

If you can't, don't want or don't have the time to buy one hardware wallet, you should use an offline wallet like:

Electrum - https://electrum.org (recommended)
Bitcoin Core - https://bitcoin.org/en/bitcoin-core/ (may take some time to sync with the blockchain and will use a lot of space on your hard drive)

Never store your Bitcoins in a web wallet. Preferably use your wallet in a isolated device not connected to the internet if you want to be 100% safe. Or if you think that's too overkill, just make sure your computer isn't infected with any virus that may steal your Bitcoins.
14742  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Has anyone used ChipMixer? on: June 16, 2017, 01:10:34 AM
One of the problem is that they give you private keys of bitcoin addresses which contain fraction of your deposit but few of those balance might be in unconfirmed status so that you have to wait for long hours to be able to use those funds.
They already said multiple times that their "chips" are always previously loaded. Why would they give you a private-key with unconfirmed coins?

They offer their service for free but you may end up paying higher fees when sending coins out of different addresses where your bitcoin will be splitted.
You don't have to split BTC1 in 20 multiple chips. You can choose to receive 1 or 2 chips which was probably loaded in one transaction, which means you will have to pay less than $1 in fees for each transaction. Not that much if you really took the time to mix your coins and could have end up paying 1% or 2% fees with another mix.

Also don't know how they generate those bitcoin address and private key pairs but if those pairs are pre-generated and stored in their database, at some point that might get hacked and if you haven't moved coins already from those address, you may loss your mixed coins.
So? What is your point? Every mixer or almost every Bitcoin service has to deal with the risks of being hacked. The same way you can send and receive 10 bitcoins with BitMixer, they can be hacked and lose all those coins because of a hacker.

Hi
Okay - here it is. If someone could verify it that would be great (if I've done this correctly).

Verification that I own this address, long ago connected to my Bitcoin Talk account. Verifying account Fishbones78 was not sold. For future purposes - my new address I will use is: 16xyVfeuMWggGXYr7VGsWFBgbS2LcArMux

Thanks
Verified with coinig.com

You should probably always write the date on your message. But I guess that's enought for you to prove your ownership.
14744  Economy / Reputation / Re: [HELP] Long Period of Inactivity on: June 15, 2017, 07:19:44 PM
You will need to provide a signed message using any address or PGP key proven being yours in the past.

I searched your account in the Bitcointalk Account Price Estimator and it showed up some addresses linked to your account from 2014-2016. If you still have access to them, you can do the same procedure to recover a hacked account (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=497545.0) and post your signed message in here.

14745  Economy / Services / Re: Best platform to sell good for BTC? on: June 15, 2017, 06:23:09 PM
Hello Everybody,

which one is the best platform to sell goods and services in exchange of BTC?
I have the impression that for the moment the BTC is only used for speculation or exchanged with FIAT Coin or gold.
All you are looking for can be found in the Marketplace board in this forum: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=5.0

There is a board called "Services" inside the Marketplace where you can offer/look for jobs or services: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=52.0

For selling physical goods: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=51.0
Digital goods: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=93.0

Other places outside the forum:

https://www.reddit.com/r/BitMarket/ - subreddit for buying and selling virtually anything with Bitcoin.
https://purse.io - buy anything from Amazon with Bitcoin.
14746  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to sell small amounts of btc for cash? on: June 15, 2017, 05:39:28 PM
Where are you from and how small is the amount of BTC you are trying to sell?

Try BitQuick and see if they are accept your bank (https://bitquick.co/).
They offer you 0% fees for selling your Bitcoin and have a low minimum amount for most sellers.
14747  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is declining as top crypto currency. Why? on: June 15, 2017, 05:10:18 PM
Why do you guys think Bitcoin is declining in popularity? Looks like Ethereum will pass it. What can Bitcoin do to maintain number 1?
If the etherum will reach the price of .2 btc each the market cap will surpass the bitcoin so by that I think the etherum will be the top currency because the etherum is have a better platform in bitcoin and the transfering of the etherum is fast and no fees unlike the bitcoin.
Ethereum's recent hype is just a bubble. It was not made for being used as money, but for ICOs and smartcontracts, has unlimited supply as it's totally centralized by their devs. May be working on the short term, but Bitcoin will always prevail.

Here is a great article for you to read:

14748  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Has anyone used ChipMixer? on: June 15, 2017, 01:27:00 PM
There was an alpha test from ChipMixer some time ago before their public release.

Most of the users have sent the review by PM to the admin of the website, but you can check it out the thread for some quick reviews: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1923170.0

Just a quick vouch for this thread:
- i sent the OP a PM applying for the beta tester position
- the next day, the OP replied to my PM, giving me the beta tester position
- i have tested out the OP's service
- i got the promised bounty plus a rather big tip  Smiley

As for the OP's service:
- i can vouch that he has a hidden service that is setup as a mixer
- i have tested his mixer, and everything seems to be set up properly. I have provided the OP with some feedback, and i can only assume the other testers did the same. There might be room for some little improvements to his service, but even at this moment, i think his service would be completely functional if he decided to open his doors for business right away
- i can vouch that i have never seen his mixing idear, and i must say that i think it's an innovative idear.

Due to the fact that he's running a mixer, thus provides privacy, i won't post the withdrawal txid's in public, but in case a member with sufficient trust is interested, i can provide the txid's over PM
14749  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: [ANN] Melis RC1 - Safe and advanced bitcoin wallet - Testers wanted on: June 15, 2017, 12:34:10 AM
Awesome! I was getting bored with all the existent wallets already in the market.
I loved the UI and the daily spending limit per device.

I am only having one problem while using the wallet: My phone isn't recognizing the QR code to pair my wallet in both my PC and Android smartphone. Not sure if it's a problem in my side, but I've tried deleting the existing code and requesting a new one and I still had no success.

Edit: finally got it after more ~5 minutes trying but got the error "Could not acquire a valid pairing QR-code. Make sure you are pairing with an existing Melis device, not scanning a backup card."

Edit 2: Got it after trying a little bit more! But now another issue: I can't set up my mobile as a SMS 2FA because the field only accept 13 characters and in Brazil we started to use another digit before our previous number. A valid example: +55 11 994332352 (14 characters)

Can you increase the maximum number to 14 characters? Thanks.
14750  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer - mixing reinvented on: June 15, 2017, 12:09:33 AM
Suppose by mistake if we clear the browser cookies after sending coins, is there any way to recover back our coins or it's gone permanently?
ChipMixer displays recovery link that can be used in case you lose cookies. If you use Electrum plugin, payment comment includes recovery link.
You can also contact support and give us your deposit transaction details. Do that before your 48h session ends and your bitcoins will be fine.

There was only one support request on this matter and it was solved well.
Hi i would like to ask if we accidentally close the browser if i am using incognito how can i recover the session?
The link given is this https://chipmixer.com/session/step1 and i tried it to restored again in other browser but it gives me other result and notice the bitcoin address for receiving was changed..
How we can back up our session if we are already had mixed coin there?
They just answered the same thing in the post you quoted above...

Download Electrum (https://electrum.org) or any offline wallet and send your Bitcoins to them. As long as you don't store your coins in any exchange/web wallet and you have full control over your private-keys, you will be ok.

For your Ethereum, I recommend you to use MyEtherWallet (https://www.myetherwallet.com).

As an alternative, there is also Exodus where you can store your Bitcoins, Ethereum, Litecoin and other coins in the same software (https://www.exodus.io).

When your Ledger arrives, store all your coins there. Don't touch them during the chain split to make sure you don't lose any Bitcoin.
14752  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Safest way to keep bitcoins? on: June 14, 2017, 10:45:59 PM
I found it safest than others bevause I can access it anywhere and anytime as long as I am connected to the internet.
How does that makes anything safer? This actually makes your wallet multiple times more susceptible to hackers and scammers. Having your wallet accessible anywhere means that your money is open for anyone that finds a breach on the website storing your Bitcoins.

The way you talk about this, makes it look like that you don't have more than 0.2 Bitcoins on your wallet simply because this is just a dumb decision and nobody should have this kind of mindset. If you care about your coins, you SHOULD at least save them on a wallet stored on your computer. You don't even need a cold storage if you think that is too overkill.

But it is all your choice to where you think is safest and if you can access it fastest so you will not regret.
You can think whatever you want. But it's a fact that a cold storage is safest than a web wallet. I hope you never get the chance to experience being hacked and losing all your coins just because you wanted a "fast access" for your coins.
14753  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are we going to 5,000 $/btc ? on: June 14, 2017, 07:56:44 PM
I personally think bitcoin will increase but not expecting $5000 by this year without any big events. I think $5000 in 2018.

Its pumped super fast over the past weeks and doubled in under a month. Assuming that happens again, or even if it pumps much slower I don't see why $5000 won't happen this year.
It won't becausee there is too much hapenning with Bitcoin at the moment.

Still no scalability fix and our Bitcoin just got threatened by Jihan because of the UASF coming soon on August 1st.
https://blog.bitmain.com/en/uahf-contingency-plan-uasf-bip148/

Considering all that has happened recently, I imagine that Bitcoin is only alive because it is the pioneer in the world of cryptocurrencies and is already accepted and stamped as the "virtual currency" all over the world. Just compare Bitcoin with other currencies in the market and you will see how expensive our fees are, how slow our transactions are and how divided our community is, which ends up destroying the currency and its growth in the future.

I imagine we could have hit the $5000 some time ago if it wasn't for all this problems keeping Bitcoin's growth stuck.

Keep your Bitcoin, but also buy promising coins like Dash, Decred and Litecoin just in case.
14754  Economy / Services / Re: ★☆★ BitcoinCampBot ★☆★ Never miss a Bitcoin Campaign again! ▄ Free to Join! ▄ on: June 14, 2017, 07:42:07 PM
Is it possible for you to send an mail as well whenever there is a new campaign up or is it only restricted to telegram service. Not everyone uses telegram so ideally if you can send notification on mail that will suffice the end users with the latest update.
Go to the "Services" board (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=52.0) and enable email notifications for new threads.

You will end up getting notified about a lot of services not related to any campaign, but it's a good option if you want to make sure to not miss anything new.

14755  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coin release calendar? on: June 14, 2017, 04:25:38 PM
Are you talking about the release date of ICOs?

There are a few websites for you to know about the date of those coins crowdsales and more info about them.

https://icotracker.net
https://www.icocountdown.com

Just make sure to do your own research before investing in any of those. There are a lot of scams, so beware.

But if you are talking about normal altcoins, I don't think there is any website to track them easily. You should probably just enable email notifications for new threads in the "Announcements (Altcoins)" board: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=159.0

Is this Monaco Visa legit service?

Is there any place where we can read more about it?
Their announcement thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1926269.0
Website: https://mona.co/

Be aware about anything suspicious. IMO they look legit but there is always a chance they may be just another ICO scam.

Did you ever quoted any Bitcoin address or PGP key you may have owned in the past with your lost account?

If so, you can always sign a message with that address/pgp key and send to theymos to request a password recovery.

This is why you should boycott Blockstream and their Core influence. They have a flawed vision of bitcoin: https://mobile.twitter.com/excellion/status/783994642463326208
I believe this tweet ends up passing a wrong view of what Samson really wanted to mean.

His answer to someone on the same chain of tweets: https://twitter.com/Excellion/status/784007812896714752
that's fine in concept. But do you really think people subsisting on $2 a day are computer literate enough to safely transact BTC?

This isn't what we really need to be thinking off and it does not really justify what he is doing, but in some way it's actually true and I understand his point.
14760  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Recommended wallet on: June 13, 2017, 09:22:42 PM
Why did you keep this specific to desktop and web wallets? You're leaving out the offline/cold wallets that so many people use. This may force people to vote for a wallet on your list that they wouldn't actually use or endorse if they had the option of wallets available.

Since the poll shows which wallets people think are the best, it would also be good to know what challenges come with some of these different wallets - from the user experience, not just differences/challenges due to the type of wallet.
He is probably talking more about the software rather than the hardware piece itself.

Most of the hardware wallets in the market can be used with Mycelium, Electrum, and probably most of the serious softwares available. The biggest advantage on a hardware wallets are the way your private-keys are stored on the hardware alone rather than stored on your computer, where any virus can get your .dat files.

But I agree with you. If you are creating a poll with 19 wallet options, at least put some hardware wallets in there so that newbies can know what they need to be looking for if they want to be safe.
