I would happily support the network if I earned some profit, but I cannot do it for free. Thanks for helping!

You will not be earning a profit most likely.  I can't guarantee that but considering what the manufacturers say they will be delivering you cannot profit.

Having said that, you can still buy some hardware.  I would start off cheap to get your feet wet and learn.  The R-box is a nice little miner and here's a review:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=639030.0

You could find an old Antminer S1 but they are noisy as hell but probably a better value keeping to the $1/GH rule.

Spend the rest of your $600 on an exchange and get some bitcoin directly from other miners.  Make sure to learn how to protect those coins.
1484  Other / Archival / Re: Pictures of your mining rigs! on: June 28, 2014, 07:25:47 AM

Nice, what will be the immersion fluid? Be sure to put something like copper sulfate in the glycol loops to prevent inferior organisms taking over.

Novec 7100.  I have some test fluid on the way and hopefully I can get a test Neptune in the fluid on Monday or Tuesday and see how it does.

I don't think we've seen too many of the larger farms utilize liquid cooling.  Yours may be the first large "do-it-at-home" one.

I missed most of the good luck and when I finally got my power and miners back up, this happens!

Yeah same here.  I had to shut down for 6 hours due to AC failure and those 6 hours happen to be that little surge we had 2 days ago.  I'm running full speed to get 1 block in 12 hours  Shocked
1486  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Buying a Bitcoin Miner on: June 28, 2014, 07:18:00 AM
The current fair pricing for a miner right now is about $1 per GH/s assuming it can be delivered in a week, not some 3 month preorder.  BFL is probably the shadiest hardware provider to exist (this coming from a former customer).

Before people offer advice, what are your intentions to mine?  Do you want to make a profit or do you want to support the network and learn about mining?  Right now mining is a losing proposition economically but it can be fun and does teach you about Bitcoin.
1487  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: So, what do you love about GHash.io that makes you never want to leave? on: June 28, 2014, 07:14:01 AM
Their own farm was only ~25% when ghash was near 50%, so basically the farm is ~13% of the network.

Everyone else is just using the pool, because apparently it is good and conveniant.

When they had hiccups and kicked off miners on that Monday and Wednesday they both to 27 and 29 PH/s respectively.  The estimated network was 90 (ignoring luck).  So it was 30%.  You can confirm this with OoC or Eleuthria or wizkid.

If those new AM chips don't all head over there then we are good and should have a nice leveling out. I don't want to see Ghash.IO die, it's not like they ran over my dog.  I want to see them responsive to the concerns of the community (since they currently ignore feedback from other pool ops).
1488  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Free unlimited electricity... where to start? on: June 28, 2014, 06:59:57 AM
Hello!
IMO every newbie to mining should start mining altcoins and study how it works and then mine BTC or any profitable coins but remember, more profit the coin is, more difficult to mine it
Kindly,
        Muhammed Zakhir

When you refer to newbie, are you talking about yourself?  When multicoin pools switch coins they pick the one that has a lower difficulty relative to it's price.  I think you're a little confused  Shocked
Yeah! Multicoin pools like eobot mine profitable coins. What I said was when you mine using your own hardware it will be difficult to mine more profitable coins like BTC & LTC as their difficulty are high and are rising now too! You misunderstood what I said. Smiley
Kindly,
        Muhammed Zakhir

OK I understand what you meant.  Yes it will be more difficult, but as long as it's the more profitable coin it's worth it.  Would you climb 1 flight of stairs for $1 or 3 flights of stairs for $20?
1489  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: I am new at BTC mining on: June 28, 2014, 06:58:01 AM
I am a new at mining. I recently start mining with www.genesis-mining.com. As far i come to know that they are providing lowest rate. Its 0.14usd per kh/s per year. They are also offering 3% discount on promo code. Do you have any suggestion? Is there anyone offering cheaper than www.genesis-mining.com.
I am mining with www.genesis-mining.com. I got 3% discount by using promo code.
Anyone can use this promo code  CK_DISCOUNT to get 3% discount.

Wow, you guys really need to stop spamming your site.  You're the 4rth person I've seen with a join date in May, and you spam their website and include a hyperlink in the post and you signature.  There are 3 others like this.
1490  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: only 300$ per month on: June 28, 2014, 06:48:21 AM
Since you're in Europe I would advise using https://btc-e.com/ and buy some Bitcoin.  Spend the $300 buying 1/2 a bitcoin (that's more than you could get with any miner and you won't have to pay for power).  Just make sure to move the bitcoin off the exchange and into your own wallet.  If you don't understand that, spend time learning that rather than learning about mining.

My suggestion.
1491  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: So, what do you love about GHash.io that makes you never want to leave? on: June 28, 2014, 06:43:11 AM
If there's one thing I could throw into the mix - and I'm sure that's been mentioned, too: don't fix what ain't broken.  From the miner's point of view, they know exactly what they're going to get with Ghash - which is not necessarily the case if they switch.  Unless there's a truly compelling reason to switch, people who already use Ghash are unlikely to do so; especially when the major compelling reason tends to get dealt with by the vast mining outfits.. so for smaller miners, that's not very compelling either.

Ghash.IO private farm was about 30% of the network.  The 21% needed to overtake the network would have come from individual miners.  If those miner want to jeopardize the security of the network by waiting for somebody else to take action, perhaps humans aren't ready for Bitcoin.
1492  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: the first share :) on: June 28, 2014, 06:37:29 AM
@DrG
I want to make money and help my family economicaly, it's awful situation in georgia...

Understood.  But if you want to make money mining is not the answer.  You will actually lose money mining right now - so many people jumped in that the pie got gobbled up already.

Treat Bitcoin like an investment like buy some gold or artwork.  Buy as much as you can as an investment and put it in a wallet and store it offline (don't leave the $ on the exchange).  If BTC goes up in price you make money without having to worry about mining.
1493  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: defective miner has best score ..? on: June 28, 2014, 06:34:34 AM
It's called variance.  That miner also happens to have less rejects than the other 2 which is just plain luck. Close the miner and restart it, it will probably be different in 2 days.
1494  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Why do Difficulty increases feel like being ass raped?? on: June 28, 2014, 06:31:07 AM
The difficulty will fluctuate in increases between 10 to 30% more or less until 2016.  Even all next year we will keep having more efficient miners come out which means more power on the network.  Sometime in 2016 the block subsidy drops to 12.5 from 25BTC - lots of marginal miners will stop mining.
1495  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Why do Difficulty increases feel like being ass raped?? on: June 28, 2014, 06:19:56 AM
6 Manufacturers are putting out new miner models this month and AsicMiner has made over 100PH/s of chips for use for some farms and miners.  You can take the current difficulty and double it to see what it will be at the end of July.
1496  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: I have no fee energy, how i plan my hardware thinking in that way? on: June 28, 2014, 05:55:59 AM
Well if it's only for 1 year it's not worth it investing in the infrastructure.  Most of the benefit of free or cheap power comes in the ability to run the miners near the end of their life and still make profit while others have closed shop.  This only works if you don't have limited space and cooling.

I have free power up to about 20KW of heat, can't upgrade the cooling in the office.
1497  Other / Off-topic / Re: bought my first computer in 4 years. What useful programs would you recommend? on: June 27, 2014, 09:10:06 AM
I always like DUMeter running - let's me know if something is eating up my bandwidth.

I use NOD by Eset for antivirus.

Why would people run scripts from random people on the forum?  Do you eat food given to you at random by some stranger on the street.....ehh, don't answer that, don't wanna know.
1499  Other / Off-topic / Re: Oops baby... on: June 27, 2014, 09:02:00 AM
So as of yesterday I am expecting.

Congrats! So happy for you. Having your own child is just magical. Life will never be the same, you will have no private time from now on, but it is all worth it.

No more computer games and 8 hours sleep. Smiley

You can still game, but don't expect to play anything realtime for the next 6 years.  Everything has to be turn-based or have a pause button.

Yeah, not going to be seeing 8 hours of sleep either.
1500  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do you hate government? on: June 27, 2014, 09:00:13 AM
Nobody should have the moral authority to kidnap someone at gunpoint and throw them in a cage.

Oh I don't know about that.  I indirectly know several people who I feel comfortable having the gov do this to.  Are referring to people who have this done without due process?

If a man is raping a 6 month old baby, yeah I got no problems with the gov throwing him in jail.
