1521  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The best altcoin to look out for on: January 02, 2023, 11:24:49 AM
I'd honestly spend the time to study up on up-and-coming projects, you can probably take note of them from various news sources or even advertised here by fellow forum members. I wouldn't necessarily trust it to be a good investment though, it's still going to end up as you deciding what to invest in.

If you want safe options, the few altcoins that have survived to this date could be an option, such as ETH. Most would be in a downtrend right now since in general the market follows what the Bitcoin market does, but instead of deciding it based on price, take a look at how the coin has performed throughout the years instead.
1522  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Goldman Sachs is looking to buy crypto, why? on: January 02, 2023, 05:32:49 AM
The answers there, it dampened the competition for it. To be perfectly fair, the fall of FTX was because of the dumb moves done by SBF, in general, imo exchanges are still and will always be a thing in the future, centralized or not. Most people just lost the idea that crypto should be stored in centralized exchanges, but it's still nonetheless functioning as an exchange imo, which is still a possible place for profit and potential growth.

I'm assuming this is for other crypto firms though, and not FTX themselves specifically. I don't think anyone would want to associate their name with FTX even after a few months have already passed.
1523  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price guess, 2023 on: January 02, 2023, 02:32:56 AM
I voted for around $30, $40k. I'd expect a more positive note than the latter half of the last year, but not too much, maybe just enough to push us away from the usual levels we felt by the end. This is talking about the end of the year though imo, by the first half we'd probably see it hovering around between $20, and $25k and staying there for the rest of the year.

The FTX collapse issue should've died down a lot more by then, big news would still probably happen but hopefully nothing major (and negative). Anything bigger than that would probably happen at the latter end of 2024, start of 2025.
1524  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is playing national lottery smart or waste of time? on: January 01, 2023, 12:40:39 PM
But the reality is, such lotteries usually have way worse odds than any casinos or gambling sites. So, mathematically speaking, you're better off gambling your money there.
If we were to compare it based on something like that, then the lottery would be for someone who has no time, at all, to learn and spend the time playing in a casino. It's also better in terms of money spent in each session since you wouldn't exactly spend a single ticket worth of money for one session in casinos. Even if you consider multiple tickets worth it, it still isn't enough afaik.

And that's the allure of the lottery, compared to regular gambling with slots, dice, etc. I honestly wouldn't even use "possible profit" as a metric, I reckon regular people who play the lottery don't even play gambling in the first place (other than the lottery that is) after all.
1525  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gamblers that don't understand basic gambling concepts. on: January 01, 2023, 10:26:17 AM
I mean it's not exactly wrong to gamble without knowing whatever calculations are behind each move or the specific odds casinos set. Gambling is still and will always be an intended form of entertainment, and if people can enjoy it with/without including the necessity to study all the math-ish stuff, then it's perfectly fine. Besides, understanding it is just that, understanding it. It doesn't convert the original chances of 50/50 to 80/20 all of a sudden.

Some may just, you know, enjoy it as a game and not as anything more complicated. This is regardless of the fact that they complain about losses or whatnot. I mean, a person can have a 13-lose streak even with 50/50 odds and they'd definitely complain regardless of how it was still a completely possible scenario.
1526  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What would you do if you get a time machine now? on: January 01, 2023, 05:12:33 AM
Idk, this is under the assumption that BTC would reach a new ATH by then. The thing is time machines get their allure from "knowing" the future, a guarantee. If it was simply an assumption then it's no different than trying to predict the future. I mean in OP's scenario, it'd also be completely reasonable for me to think what future me would say when BTC dips and crashes to the ground.

I'd probably just say whatever though. Not exactly the first time if it ever happens again, but not right now though since I'm still hodling. That's just how it goes when it comes to investments, some go well, some don't.
1527  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: when did you receive your first bitcoin? on: December 31, 2022, 07:47:56 AM
A few months before the pandemic hit I guess? I was lightly touching trading back then (and suffered as a dumb kid with how fees work). I did know and touched about Bitcoin before (from a friend I knew back in HS) but it was only then that I really started handling it. I was lucky enough to avoid that massive pit that happened when the pandemic started but didn't foresee it coming back after that, so I lost out on a pretty big opportunity in terms of investment. It wasn't really helpful that I was a student back then, most of the side gigs I did that gave out money went out to be saved up to build up my PC (I had a pretty basic laptop back then), so the amount I had was minimal, so I couldn't risk it investing again what after that big dump that happened.

It was also helpful that our mobile wallet I use (coins.ph) finally had crypto conversion/crypto transaction (which was like an exchange, but much easier to access for someone ignorant like me back then I guess) which also pushed me to trying it out.
1528  Economy / Gambling / Re: JupiterRising.xyz | MASSIVE Amount of Games!! on: December 31, 2022, 03:35:39 AM
So I apologize if I upset anyone with my payout rules and such. I'm not doing it to be a cheap skate, I'm just trying to get by. I've spent months and so many hours of my life putting this all together. It really was a lot of work. I wish I did have the money to be able to pay you all out as soon as you request it. I really do...
It's not really upsetting, especially if you consider how most haven't exactly experienced it but it does have a negative effect on attracting users to your casino. I honestly would just sell the backend and maybe just get hired somewhere since you have experience developing it on your own as you've said. The effort is there, but that's not the only thing needed in a business. A Proper system, marketing, and the like that's aligned with the norms (and a 3-day processing of withdrawals is not one of them). Even no KYC is not enough to offset that. Maybe build up capital by attracting investors first.
1529  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling For Fun - What Does This Mean To You? on: December 31, 2022, 01:42:02 AM
I personally think that the phrase "gambling for fun" is widely misunderstood by many gamblers.
They think gambling for fun means gambling without any interest or hunger for profit, no body enjoys loosing money, and this in the other way simply means, loosing money is never fun, but how we choose to react is what makes the difference...
I agree. The notion that you gamble without any greed is actually dumb, I've always said I gamble for fun but said fun is not about just playing the game cause if it was, I would've stopped spending money on what possibly could be a free game I could play countlessly for hours. It's the thrill. The thrill of the process and not the end result.

Some may say that just playing the game itself without any bets can bring said thrill, but employing it with money involved increases said thrill imo and just makes it more fun. If some people love risks by doing extreme mountain biking, flipping their motorcycles on a ramp, or jumping across rooftops, then well, this is my kind of thrill.
1530  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: It Is Possible To Invest In Crypto Currency Without Buying Any Coins. on: December 30, 2022, 03:20:30 PM
... Why though? You can perfectly buy crypto by yourself in exchanges and you guarantee yourself that you own it with a hardware wallet (or something similar in terms of security). I mean I guess it's possible but I probably wouldn't think of it like that if I were to ever do it. I guess some options are businesses, projects, or maybe NFT's?  Stocks of a company even can count I guess? I'm basically suggesting anything that can be substituted for something with value here. Some would probably take specific contracts or something though.
1531  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Responsible gambling on: December 30, 2022, 01:15:43 PM
Nope. I'm pretty responsible myself so I don't really see the need to set one up and if ever, I have my friends and family that would pretty much remind me if I ever end up spending too much. I usually ask (force) them to listen to me doing a kind of finance report by talking about my gambling experience for the month so that they can judge whether something is going terribly wrong and that I should adjust my mindset or what I'm doing.

I've tried self-exclusion, but not responsible gaming (or whatever feature). Self-exclusion is actually pretty useful but it still needs you to be able to control your urges, since it doesn't exactly stop you from creating a new account to gamble with.
1532  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BANKMAN-FRIED PANIC GAMBLES TO REPAY DEBT on: December 30, 2022, 03:32:46 AM
Well, that was dumb. I guess he was planning to pull something similar to the owner of FedEx or something. Now that's a life lesson you should stick with, not with FedEx, but with SBF and him trying to copy the case of FedEx. There's nothing dumber than trying to copy the "luck" of anyone. Rather unfortunate for people who endorsed FTX.

Anw I guess the general populace should start thanking him really, he taught people a few important things. One, don't store your cryptos in exchanges, and two, don't copy lucky people when it comes to gambling! A mighty expensive lesson though in this case, but for those who were unaffected by the impact, that's free lessons for you.
1533  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Attributing wins or loses during gambling/betting to Ego or Simply Intuition. on: December 30, 2022, 12:46:19 AM
We can't actually help it most of the time, especially people who are on the younger side of things or are inexperienced with feeling very vivid emotions. It's also rather easier to blame something you know than a factor that seems non-existent and can't really see/touch/identify (which is luck).

Honestly just let it flow imo, what you should control is the actions that would cause you to go overboard, otherwise, it's really fine to just go crazy and bet whether you're on a lose streak or not. It's controlling the "amount" of money you spend to play, and not the chances of you "winning or losing" since in the first place you can't control that, whether you're feeling extreme emotions or not.
1534  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cashless Gambling, your thought? on: December 29, 2022, 09:49:25 AM
It looks like Armenia isn't the first one aiming to implement cashless gambling.  Apolitical figure in New South Wales, Australia also attempt to force cashless gambling to gamers but failed.[1]  The reason as usual for implementation is money laundering.

So it is clear now why the government wanted to implement cashless gambling because they wanted to track or spy on peoples gambling activities in guise of anti-money laundering.
It has always been their reason for anything KYC related. Not that they're wrong or anything, but money laundering does indeed happen and their implementing stuff like this is simply a precaution. That doesn't stop people (and me) from wanting to play while preserving our privacy though.
Gambling platforms will surely go against this idea and just stick to what setup they currently have. Sure, they are guaranteed of profits because gamblers need to connect their banks directly to the platform, but that will surely deter a lot of people from gambling because of the few extra steps they need to take before they can go and bet. Another thing is the added identification they need to submit on their part. Gamblers are already saying no tk KYC, how else would you expect them to react when they need to connect their bank accounts?
I reckon right now it will indeed reduce, but in the long term said "cashless" system would probably be a part of the norm and would eventually crawl its way to the standard system people use. Though I guess if people are against it there will always be alternatives like crypto casinos with no KYC.
1535  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What are the motives that drive you to gamble? on: December 29, 2022, 04:55:51 AM
I think this should be in Gambling Discussion instead?

To answer, enjoyment. It's just like how games, sports, and hobbies are to me, they're purely for enjoyment. You may argue that since money is involved then things are kind of different, but as someone who spends money on merchandise, figures, and Gundam builds, I don't think they're any different. I still spend money on all of them. Gambling may have that factor of enjoyment if you win big, but it's a minor thing after winning, I mostly value the thrill and experience I get.
1536  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Robo Inu? on: December 29, 2022, 12:42:55 AM
Isn't this one just trying to use Shiba Inu's hype by using the Inu end on it? I'd honestly just avoid it to death, I reckon any kind of "growth" this would show would only be a hyped scam made by their own team (or hired ones). Seems like it's been more than a year since its release, and I doubt most of us here would've heard it. That just speaks of how much the team made (and failed) the marketing of the project, and even without considering the utility of the coin that itself already speaks of how it's a failure.

1537  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NFT ?? What do you think about it ? ? ? on: December 28, 2022, 11:41:11 AM
It is undeniable that you can make profits with NFTs, but can you make more than what you can lose? Can you do this over and over again? And I suppose the answer for both of those questions for most investors is no, and since the NFT market is completely based on hype then it is almost impossible to make use of your knowledge or skills to give yourself an advantage over the rest of the investors, which is the reason why many think of NFT investing as pure gambling.
I actually wouldn't deny calling it a lottery at some point really. Not to mention at some levels the hype is realkly artificial afaik, rich people just pay more people to hype up the project, increasing the chances of whatever their minting to increase in price, even if temporary, and then profit. It's just dumb. You'd have to have a pretty big wallet to even afford entering it since losing and winning in it costs pretty big.

Friends, I also ask you to rate the first post, I also added a couple of NFTs there! It seems to me that some did not even know that such NFTs exist! I know and I'm surprised myself!
They're good, design-wise, but not worth the money I'd probably have to spend on. I might be a bit biased but I can probably pay artists on Twitter more and get a better return for what I paid.
1538  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: OneShot Golf on gambling casinos? on: December 28, 2022, 08:55:01 AM
Why the need to pay though? Are there money prizes for the tournaments? or at least useable ones, that way paying for it seems kind of reasonable enough. Anw I don't think it's going to work, I've probably said this a few times and it's rather similar to how eSports isn't included in gambling because it's skill-based, or at least, the majority of the factors involve skill instead of luck. I actually don't see this lasting long enough, unless they have some kind of gimmick (or they made it free, I just don't see it being paid being worth in the long run).

On one note though, I'd much rather consider those online crane games Japan has released (idk since when, I only knew them these past few years). The element of luck would be on the randomness of the prizes they get, they can even add some random gimmicks with regards to what they get and what it can result in as a prize.
1539  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How to win gambling? on: December 28, 2022, 06:11:25 AM
I guess if you consider winning as enjoying gambling then yea, this reply is pretty much the standard one you'd get. Though it's more of a "safety" kind of thing, especially in cases of staying sober and money management, it's so that at the idea of enjoying gambling, you also don't let it consume you.

Any comments? The post is made by https://openai.com/blog/chatgpt/ Actually not bad in my eyes.
I reckon anything answered by chatgpt would be anything but bad in the eyes of most people, it's because most of its answers are constructed in a way that makes it seem natural, legit, and pleasing. But it doesn't necessarily make it correct all the time, though in this case, it has answered the question in some sort, though not perfectly imo (though I guess answering "How to win in gambling" itself is a trick question). Just check how StackOverflow pretty much banned its answers from their forum since the answers look to be correct due to the way it's constructed.
1540  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How Are You Preparing For 2023? on: December 27, 2022, 12:28:45 PM
I'm still waiting my hand, my DCA for Bitcoin will probably continue on though I might increase my budget depending on whether I find an altcoin to invest in for the year or not. I haven't exactly started looking for good altcoins, might not even start till Feb next year or something. I might just pull out the top 100 alts and select some of the relatively well-performing ones from the middle to bottom end of the list, wouldn't consider the top ones for now since they're pretty much the coins we've known for the past few years.
