1601  Economy / Gambling / Re: Sanitize the Gambling Board. on: November 15, 2022, 03:46:22 AM
This might be better in gambling discussion if you want to push attention to it, or Meta.

On the topic, I think it's wrong to say that this board is for people who are "gambling experts". Rather this board is for threads that center around official discussions instead of "What do you think" topics, which I do agree with (I'm only disagreeing with the way OP said it). It's like separating the discussions between official and non-official ones. With the number of threads made though it might just be for the best to report the thread to bring attention to it, or personally PM the OP as others has said to move the topics.

I also saw some of the topics were already moved to gambling discussion btw.

You wanna sanitize the gambling board and how do you think you can achieve this when we have moderators who are always ready to do their work without us intruding. Even without reporting the moderators can vividly clean up the gambling section especially when they notice some group of unethical posts. The gambling section is made up of different calibres of people both strong and weak gamblers
It's not about the mods doing their work but rather people can do it by themselves without the mod's intervention in the first place, so why don't they?
1602  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CZ proposes an Industry recovery fund. on: November 15, 2022, 02:52:37 AM
I'd say it's a good initiative since it aims to help people who were damaged by the event, but I'd rather make him push the idea of using non-custodial wallets instead of using custodial ones, even if we assume that his initiative is in place already. It might also take a few years for it to happen even, not to mention it might be again, centralized, so if say CZ handles the money and does an FTX move on it then a LOT of money would disappear.

Which leads us again to issues of trust, really, people would just be better off using non-custodial wallets instead of having to think of all these issues.
1603  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Not Quitting only a break on: November 14, 2022, 12:45:18 PM
Replace gambling with another hobby, hopefully, something that takes you outside and pressures you to do strenuous activities, it can be golfing, swimming, etc. I myself have replaced it with reading but that may not be for everyone else since reading has been a part of my life even before gambling came in so it was easy to adjust.

People honestly have no idea what to do to replace gambling because they don't have anything to do, or rather forgot about what they usually do. Even simple socialization can be a suitable replacement for gambling, it's all dependent on how you yourself set it. Maybe ask a friend for that small push as the start if you can't do it alone.
1604  Economy / Speculation / Re: Crypto dump is just getting started? on: November 14, 2022, 02:43:40 AM
The FTX collapse forced people to withdraw which lead to the current down ig, not to mention people profiting off from the 20k high we got at the end of October. The market still going down so far, I honestly thought we'd stop at around $17k again and just hover around there but it seems like we might even touch $15k again.

We deserve to worry about the current market conditions, this week the price of DIP is more than 22% and according to many predictions will be below $ 13K, of course this is a difficult thing, hopefully the FTX case is the last and will not exist so that the market can rise .
It probably won't be the last, but I don't think we'd see another one in the close future. As for a $13k dip, it isn't all that impossible but let's see if it breaks below $15k first before anything else.
1605  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Copying Bet From Other Unknown Bettors, Is This a Good Practice? on: November 13, 2022, 02:48:19 AM
I wouldn't say it's "bad", copying is something done by people all the time really, and in this case, where the platform allows it, the only responsibility left is about the money spent and nothing more. I also wouldn't really call it a case of "coinciding" bets since that's rather different from "copying" itself. If you're comfortable with leaving your money with someone else and letting them spend it then I'd say copying is completely fine (since that's what copy bets really are at its core).

The only case copying a bet would go wrong is if your personal belief refuses (but for some reason still did) to copy a bet, especially in cases where you have knowledge of the game itself and can make your own bet. Though that goes to be pretty subjective imo so it's a case-by-case basis, not really something I (or we) can generalize imo.
1606  Economy / Gambling / Re: Quit gambling to focus more on my work on: November 13, 2022, 02:21:47 AM
You can still gamble while working really. I myself do that, I just control it in a way that doesn't affect my work at all, even with the amount of money I'm spending on gambling. Overindulging in luxuries, especially from money earned in gambling can be quite bad imo since it isn't a "constant" source of profit but rather an "immediate" one.

Drake himself has the money because of all the influence he has built up over the course of his career. It wasn't an "immediate" type of thing, it was a gradual one. We may see big amounts of sponsorships or amounts of money spent by him as irregular cause of of the amount (huge ones), but that's the price of his entire career and not an "that moment only" type.
1607  Economy / Economics / Re: Meta fires 11k employees - Effect of economy or being bullish about metaverse? on: November 12, 2022, 12:03:25 PM
Have they even released anything from their metaverse project? I think a lot of big companies have these sorts of projects just to stay in the news and attract investors, much like their attempts at libra.
He has afaik. It's called Meta Horizon Worlds, I've watched someone play it, and oh boy was it horrid. Just the simple fact that it can't even load the lower part of the models on some specific VR headsets is already bad, from what I've heard you also have to pay to like clap to someone or something similar?

There's even an article about how the head of the production or something is forcing its dev team to "love" what they made, and it honestly sounds more like a guilt trip than anything else since anyone can see how bad the product they made is. Even VR chat which is 8 years old is a thousand times better than them and most of the content that's there was community made (afaik).

Quote
In a follow-up memo dated September 30th, Shah said that employees still weren’t using Horizon enough, writing that a plan was being made to “hold managers accountable” for having their teams use Horizon at least once a week. “Everyone in this organization should make it their mission to fall in love with Horizon Worlds. You can’t do that without using it. Get in there. Organize times to do it with your colleagues or friends, in both internal builds but also the public build so you can interact with our community.”

1608  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Not all gambling games are based on luck, some require skills on: November 11, 2022, 08:27:01 AM
Sports betting. That's basically the sort of gambling you're in if you don't want to rely 100% on luck (I say so since there's still a factor of luck even in those types of events/activities). Outside of sports, I reckon Poker has some form of skill involved but unlike sports, luck is still a highly reliant factor.

You're not participating in the activity itself though just to note, cause if that's what you're looking for then it isn't a gambling site/activity you're looking for anymore, it's a tournament instead. You're not a gambler anymore, but rather a participant instead and you're the one being gambled on instead.
1609  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Stop justify stealing exchangers Are responseble on: November 11, 2022, 03:10:35 AM
No one's defending exchanges, on the contrary, most would shit on them if they have the chance. Exchanges do indeed make life easier with their services of buying/selling/trading, but for storing they're probably the worst option you could ever take. Hardly doubt the exchange would help you as well since if they go under, they're probably going to take you with them as well.

On another hand, people would still be perfectly able to trade crypto with or without exchanges. They make life easy, but in no way are they a necessity. Cases like what happened to FTX only push the idea that exchanges will fuck up sooner or later.
1610  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Capital during sudden crashes on: November 11, 2022, 01:29:11 AM
Crashes are always caused by some sort of FUD imo, it's brought by panic and fear of customers in a market and not something that naturally or gradually happens like in a bear market (though a crash can eventually lead to a gradual entry to a bear market).

In such times, capital can be handy as such opportunities are like finding gold on street.
Naturally. Crashes are more often opportunities for those that see that the asset could still grow back, and that the crash was a result simply of panic. The underlying value of the asset is still there. Both those who lost and those who haven't both have the opportunity to ride on it, as long as said asset can still actually grow back.
1611  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who are those people that you don't want them to know you are a gambler on: November 10, 2022, 02:20:38 AM
Higher-ups in my company I guess? Or anyone that has some sort of business-esque type of relationship. Gambling, as much as we all like it (or hate), has a negative connotation after all. I don't particularly mind my family or friends knowing, if our relationship goes sour then just goes to show how brittle it is in the first place, but businesses are another thing.

Reputation is something you have to keep up most of the time, and showing a blemish can really ruin your entire career history, making it harder to get opportunities. If you were known to be one in the first place then all is good, but if you kept it hidden and kept up a pretty stellar performance, you'd want to avoid letting them know you're an avid fan of gambling.

And I also don't let social media know, that's just dumb.
1612  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Importance of not letting others know about your crypto holdings on: November 09, 2022, 08:13:21 AM
It was dumb to show what he earned exactly really. If you really wanted to share (or brag), vaguely suggesting it should be enough, no need to go into specifics about it. If possible you don't really have to share it, especially if your profile was pretty vulnerable/public to the people you were sharing it about.

Got curious and snooped around, and found this article detailing a kidnapping and ransom event.

Except it wasn't 3, it was 8 BTC.
1613  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Losing $350,000 because of a friend, what would you do? on: November 09, 2022, 02:39:41 AM
For the sake of answering OP, I'd probably be malding really. I mean he had good intentions, yes, but the result was a win in the end, so really it was his fault. The answer can be pretty skewed imo since it's a "win", if it was a "loss" then we'd probably be thanking the friend instead.

In reality, though I don't think you're allowed to change bets when the roulette has basically started as others have said, so the scenario isn't really going to happen. Even if someone did change the bet, pretty sure the dealer will still honor the original one since, well, another person changed it midway which is not allowed in the first place.
1614  Economy / Economics / Re: Always ask bargain for prices never pay full specially now on: November 08, 2022, 11:03:59 AM
There'd probably be places where bargaining is an option and highly accepted (like most of the stores here in my area), but it doesn't mean that ALL areas would accept it or is even suitable for it even.
People we buy products/services from are also impacted by the economic situation so I don't think bargaining could even get us somewhere really, especially in OP's cases where a lease is signed beforehand. At least, I've never heard of a lease where its content can be willy-nilly changed just like that.

While I do have complaints with the way their admins talk to you, it is a matter of fact that the casino itself has informed you in its ToS about the rules of its self-exclusion policy.  I would say you're in the wrong for blaming them for something they've clearly stated, but I'd say they're also wrong for the way they handled the matter (though I'd like an image instead of a copy-paste just for a more proper proof really). I'd honestly just cut off the internet for now and take a break, get a vacation maybe. If you were ever to get back on gambling, check up on their ToS about their self-exclusion.
1616  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How Does Gambling/Casino Ads Help An Addicted Gambler Who Wants To Stop Gambling on: November 08, 2022, 12:56:17 AM
No to both questions really. In the case of ads, I can relate somewhat since I myself have been influenced by ads to play, not just in gambling but in literally most games I've tended to grow out of, just one simple clip could make me return. It's also not that addicts don't want to recover, it's just that seeing something related to what you're avoiding tends to create an itch, a really irritating and close to unavoidable one. I reckon it'd be easier to be responsible at gambling instead of completely avoiding/removing it from your system really.

As for the latter, the internet has way too much stuff that avoiding it just for gambling seems kind of losing out, though if you're an avid book reader like me then hell yea go to a library and you can last an entire week without it (unless needed due to stuff like jobs ofc).
1617  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Elon musk have Just a year to make back his money🙆 on: November 07, 2022, 07:04:33 AM
I'm actually down for improvements with the blue mark he wants, maybe a premium like Discord nitro, but having everyone just pay to get the blue mark might run contrary to what it really should be. Maybe only allow the current blue mark to stay, but make another level above which needs payment and has all the implementations they could ever want (animated pfp, banners, fewer ads, basically whatever Elon wants to add plus some good cosmetic-ish stuff) if he really wanted that payment mechanic.

Right now though I don't think a lot of people are supporting him, it's not a matter of how much is being asked but rather the reason why it's being asked in the first place.
1618  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you consider appearance in business and employment? on: November 07, 2022, 02:21:22 AM
It wouldn't do to judge someone based on their appearance BUT a good appearance does indicate a good first impression which drastically improves your chances of being employed imo. It's just a matter of leaving a good impression, it doesn't necessarily need you to spend enormous amounts of time dressing up or to force yourself to suffer under the weather, as long as you're able to dress properly together with your comfort, then I don't think it'd be an issue really.

This is only for the employment process though tbf, I reckon employees can be rather comfortable with their clothes once they've been in the company for months, heck even weeks, as long as there's no strict dress code implemented.
1619  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Can we see a huge rise in the price of Dogecoin ? on: November 07, 2022, 01:40:40 AM
Maybe if he implements Dogecoin towards services that Twitter uses. Heck even without doing anything I think Dogecoin owners would hype it out since they can freely assume that Elon would inevitably do something positive with DogeCoin together with Twitter, I'd imagine the market would pump immediately if he announces any official direct involvement with it. I wouldn't put it past him to actually do it, but I think it'd still take some time since he's still solidifying his control over Twitter. Maybe after the implementation of the paid verification mark we'd see some announcements about it.
1620  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Stake.com from US with VPN/Proxy without Level 2 Verification? on: November 06, 2022, 07:59:54 AM
Short answer no. Pretty sure that since you're using VPN, you're already aware of Stake not allowing your participation in their site, especially since using a VPN or any similar or related type of service to provide incorrect information is already a breach of their ToS.
Quote
The attempt to manipulate your real location through the use of VPN, proxy, or similar services or through the provision of incorrect or misleading information about your place of residence, with the intent to circumvent geo-blocking or jurisdiction restrictions, constitutes a breach of Clause 5 of this Terms of Service.

If you really want to go around it, finding an identity that is able to play and buying said account can work but it'd probably be a matter of time as well before your found out and may even have legal issues with it afterward. I'd suggest just using a different casino altogether really.
