1421  Economy / Speculation / Re: How was your belief formed? on: January 16, 2023, 06:29:30 AM
Time I guess? I already invested a bit right before the pandemic hit, luckily before the crash back then I pulled out before it halved my money, and refused to believe that it'd ever go back up again after that. Time slapped me a few months later (or was it a year? Don't really recall), so after that, I tried dabbling into trading, didn't do well (badly tbf), so I just waited for timing where Bitcoin was really down the red so that I can enter relatively safer. Was around $30k back then iirc.
1422  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: betting against the Public, is this strategy working? on: January 16, 2023, 01:58:24 AM
I'd say one of the easiest examples of this is betting on the underdog, but that's harder than any bet to predict imo so it's not really reliant, but betting on other factors of the said match can prove to be much better, like the number of goals made and factors like that. It's really good if you can do it, after all, a match with one-sided odds can give you a LOT if it wasn't exactly "one-sided" as initially thought.

It's a lot riskier though, since in the end even if it wasn't just the final result but also some other factors, you'd still need to study and believe that the underdog team has the necessary skill to perform better against the better one. And odds so one-sided like this only happens if the skill level between the two is often seen as big, like really big in gap imo.
1423  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is it safe to buy now? on: January 15, 2023, 04:29:53 AM
Isn't it better in most(emphasis on most) cases to buy during reds than greens? Though in BTC's case right now, I reckon any buy would be good if you're looking in the long term since we're still technically in the red compared to that, if you were in the short term then you bought too late and could've profited a bit when you bought at 16,17k. Now imo the price wouldn't increase continuously like this, a drop off to maybe 19 could happen and it's just gonna move up and down from then. We might see it increase a bit more after a few months only.
1424  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin hits 20,000$ again, what is the reason? on: January 15, 2023, 01:38:34 AM
Wasn't it something natural? The drop off to 16k I believe was just due to the FTX fiasco (which lasted longer than I thought imo). Before it happened I'm pretty sure the price jumped back up to 20k already, but then the whole issue happened, went down, and it wasn't really showing any comebacks to 20 until now. It's also why I think we're not really going to steamroll or anything through the market after this point, maybe up to 22k at most then it'll go back down to 19,20 and again do its usual up and down movement. Might be more depending on what's happened though, not really updated or anything.
1425  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Could be a bigger challenge when market force is low on: January 14, 2023, 01:37:32 PM
P2E will 100% die out due to players creating bots (and the economy not being able to be managed properly when extreme circumstances happen, like a sudden influx) and unless that's fixed, I doubt P2E could ever be a challenge. Some that do pop off are great initially, but in the long term, you'd be earning peanuts from them. Though tbf I hardly doubt P2E would ever combat casinos for users, gamblers are just different. P2E doesn't work the same way as casinos. Instead, they're grindy, they require thinking, a strategy for each activity, and a major investment as well in most cases.

Yes, I agree to an extent that casino games are too limited compared to the number of possibilities other games have, but if you also look at it from another angle, even though a LOT of games have come out, these games are still famous among gamblers. Why? Because in the first place, the highest interest that they have in the activity is not the games but the attraction of earning more money with just luck or at least, the majority of it, in one single go.
1426  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: How do you feel about market recovery on: January 14, 2023, 07:41:52 AM
Well, I'm happy it finally came back to 20k (price right now) and finally left that range where you can't help but feel it might go down again. Still, I reckon we might dip down back after a few days, or weeks since the price increase was kind of straight instead of something steady (which was what I expected really). It should be temporary though, maybe another up-and-down movement from between 19 and 20k, for a few days. In the bigger picture though this isn't exactly anything big, after all we're still pretty far off from $30k itself. We just kind of opened up a space between the possible worst case scenario (which is a dip to $10k or so imo).
1427  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Best Times when I visit casinos Versus When I don't on: January 14, 2023, 04:18:25 AM
I'd kind of disagree with the 1st one on "visiting", promotions and bonuses shouldn't be a reason to visit a casino, it should still be the availability of disposable funds instead. Well I mostly leave some anyway since even when I win, I often leave some money in my account (not by much, but enough to play a bit more) so it isn't really an issue for me. I'd totally steer clear from gambling on cases where I'm part of a big project or event that I'm participating in. Gambling takes quite a bit of my mental after all.  Having no money is also a reason but that's natural so I'll just leave it as is.
1428  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling addiction touched forum users in a very sad way... on: January 14, 2023, 01:52:24 AM
Damn, that's a long ass thread, rightfully so though. I believe this is a perfect example of how long-lasting businesses can, at a single moment, turn their backs on you and just kill any sort of connection you've had with them. I believe anyone interested in the issue could visit the thread so no need to describe it that much, just know that whether it was intentional or not, it was a very asshole move, if that's enough to describe it. I think this is one of the better instances though since some of his acquaintances were here, they know him personally (and probably where they live) so filing a police report that will take effect is much more likely to happen.

Idk if his intention was to save the addresses for other uses (such as personal emergencies or something) or just to really fund his gambling addiction, if it was the latter then damn that's dedication and he probably needs big help (after a pretty long sentence though).
The damage was around less 2 BTC (as per what I read on other topics created) and we don't know if yogg has that kind of money right now considering the case that he scammed those collectors. This guy won't get away with it, he's known entirely and he just sold his reputation that low because of gambling addiction.
If he had I don't think he would've avoided the issue and would've answered the queries here himself. He instead ran away and let the ones who contacted him inform the rest of his customers instead. The issue wouldn't be over with paying the money he stole, but at the very least, it would've been enough to credit it as an "impulsive (VERY) action" on his stead.
1429  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: is investing in ethereum safe? on: January 13, 2023, 11:19:23 AM
I don't have experience in altcoins, but I have quite an interest in investing in altcoins, but when I hear the news that investing in altcoins is very dangerous because the potential for losses is so big, but I found out on the internet, it turns out that we can invest in altcoins as long as the in quality altcoins,
They're not wrong, altcoins are risky because most of them are new scammy projects. There are old ones, but the profits you'd get aren't as big compared to investing in a completely new project that will grow.

For ETH, I wouldn't really guarantee that it has a good future, any project has really if you think about it. Comparing it to other altcoins though, it has better chances of standing in the future as a big name (if it isn't already is) among cryptos. I myself have kept a part of my portfolio recently into ETH. If you're debating, then going for a DCA method isn't that wrong, especially if we consider how the prospects of ETH is better than other new altcoins out there.

1430  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin With Gold Design: Miss El Salvador Features Bitcoin in Contesting Ground on: January 13, 2023, 09:03:00 AM
Nothing too surprising, El Salvador himself is fully supportive of Bitcoin, I doubt his wife wouldn't. I hardly doubt it's going to make any waves though, it's just simple news, just that.

Your post can benefit an altcoin project Bitcoin Gold. Search engines will find your post and add it to their search results for Bitcoin Gold.
Don't give misleading information, El Salvador is only accept and promote about Bitcoin, there's no relation with that's shitcoin.
I think that was the point, since OP mistakenly used "Bitcoin Gold" to term the costume that Miss El Salvador wore, algorithms may pick that up and redirect people to here. @OcTradism wasn't really shilling about Bitcoin gold or anything.
1431  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is a Blue Chip NFT? on: January 13, 2023, 04:58:47 AM
I recently heard about Blue Chip NFTs and wanted to learn more. After doing some research, I can say that Blue Chip NFTs are a type of Non-Fungible Token (NFT) created on the Ethereum blockchain that represent ownership of a digital asset such as artwork, music, or digital collectibles.
Uhm, that's just an NFT plain and simple, it's not a "Blue Chip" NFT specifically.

The benefits of owning a Blue Chip NFT are numerous; they are highly secure and provide a unique digital asset to collect. Additionally, Blue Chip NFTs are a great way for artists to showcase and monetize their work, as well as for investors to have a tangible asset to store value.
The benefits of not owning one are numerous as well, one you don't get the chance of being scammed, two you avoid scalpers that just boost the price up on purpose then crash it down after profiting, three, you can hire artists on their platforms as well, there's a LOT of freelance platforms out there.
1432  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is It good For The Casinos And The Accusers If .. on: January 13, 2023, 02:10:59 AM
Is It Good For The Casinos And The Accusers If the casino operators decided to post a disclaimer that they will not answer accusations here in Bitcointalk but prefer to address them on other platforms that they think are fair and moderated like Askgambler and other platforms?
What's your take on this I don't want to be specific but the question applies to all casino operators.
No. I mean, they're posting the answer to the queries that the accuser gave out, not the answers to anyone else. That's pretty much just an excuse, especially if we consider how bitcointalk is a platform for some big crypto casinos. This simply means they want to avoid this place since a lot of people are here, and I reckon algorithms would lead new users to here instead of platforms that give them static reviews instead of proper review discussions like here, so they want to avoid that.

Well that's just my opinion though, casinos may simply just not want to. I mean, it's not like it's a necessity or anything.
1433  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Artificial Intelligence on Ethereum and the danger of a AI without limitations on: January 12, 2023, 12:52:05 PM
I mean, this is literally something similar to an art AI creating, well, art, and then automating the process of uploading it? It may just grab a random string of words to describe whatever art it is it'd make and honestly, has no connection whatsoever imo to the development of AI. Plus, I don't really think the AI's developed right now have said "consciousness" in them, it's the reason why they still require inputs from us, humans, to actually produce something (at least, from the AI's I'm familiar with).

It's honestly just fearmongering amongst yourselves imo.
1434  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Streamer and Crypto Guru Gambles Away Investor Funds on: January 12, 2023, 07:30:00 AM
Unfortunate. Seems really dumb in my eyes but that's just how addiction actually eats someone. Nonetheless, since there were victims of his addiction and not only his funds, he has to pay the price for it which I reckon would take quite some time to pay back since not only his funds, but also his reputation as a streamer was hit. Not sure though whether there are other sources of income for him, but at the very least in that aspect, his career can be called over, or at least, for the time being anyway.

The article didn't indicate anything about paying back though, wished they could've elaborated on that after stating who were the victims.
1435  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can players bet on their own games on: January 12, 2023, 05:01:24 AM
Is it solely catching the player betting on themselves, or is it match-fixing? Cause I've heard a lot of match-fixing scandals between teams in a lot of sports, even ones that I don't actively follow. Match-fixing often leads to betting so I wouldn't really include that to the scenario where OP is looking for a player caught because of him betting specifically (nothing more, nothing else).

On cases I've heard, such as in this article
https://www.gamesindustry.biz/cs-go-pro-players-banned-for-betting-on-themselves

and other similar ones in eSports are the only ones I've ever really heard, so as you can see, it isn't completely out of the picture for it to happen.
1436  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why is it becoming a thread for casinos refusing paying very huge winnings? on: January 12, 2023, 12:14:15 AM
Here's the thing, we can't exactly verify the veracity of their claims since, well, all prior testing of said "malfunction" was done by them. Even if it was approved by the NY Gaming Commission, it still wasn't exactly publicly verified, so we can't know whether it's really a malfunction or not. If it was, then end of the story nothing can be done. If it wasn't, then the main reason would be because they didn't want to play, as for specifics we'd probably never know.

If there really was a purpose to it, it's something that stems from human evil or greed I guess. Nothing we can do about it really.
1437  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is the $17,000+ bitcoin price breakout benchmark to new price direction on: January 11, 2023, 01:30:26 PM
Well, it's definitely better, but not really an indication that we're going bullish. I reckon a break over the $20k would be the minimum at least to call it at that, and that's just the minimum. Still, it is much better and looks more optimistic now since we've finally started seeing some increase in the market ever since that dip a few months back. Currently doing a slow and steady pace of increase with a few days of steady movements which would hopefully continue till $20k maybe before stagnating for a few months again.
1438  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Woman won $43million but was offered a steak dinner instead of her winnings on: January 11, 2023, 05:21:43 AM
Damn that feels bad. Her mistake was leaving without any sort of proof or documentation that she won and that the casino would give the winnings to her the next day as they stated. It's also absurd how the casinos stating it as a "malfunction" on their part is enough to pretty much deny the win. At the very least, I would've wanted more in terms of compensation than just a steak dinner.

Not that she can get anything else out of it though, since the NY game commission already sided with the casino. Rather unfortunate.
1439  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: You Learn More from Losses than from Wins on: January 10, 2023, 06:37:50 AM
Remember the first lesson you learned as a beginner trader? Did it come from a loss or a win?
Well, most lessons from a loss are actually just you being dumb, so you gotta stop being one. I reckon it's actually rare after that to receive a lesson that could potentially advance your trading skills since most scenarios are a case-by-case kind of thing. My first lesson in trading was exactly like that, It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that I actually just played with the money I invested since I bought and sell at pretty dumb points, pretty much ending it at a loss for quite a few weeks.

Learned my lesson though so I just DCA so that I can stop thinking.
1440  Economy / Gambling / Re: What sort of Weekly & Monthly Bonuses do Bitcointalk members want? on: January 10, 2023, 02:57:01 AM
Rakeback, and possibly bonuses at certain amounts of money spent. I wouldn't bet on casinos ever giving me free money that I can withdraw without any strings attached, so just give me more money that I can use to play instead. Lock it in the account, maybe separate it as to how like some games do it (E.g. Free tokens vs paid tokens, free ones aren't able to be withdrawn). Might be difficult to specify it for each game a player mostly plays, so just put it on slots that are the most famous on your casino.

As for weekly bonuses, well, a lottery based on the amount spent on that week maybe? The users can recoup maybe 5% of what they spent that week as the jackpot, and the rest being 1, 2, 3% (I'm just putting random numbers here, you can adjust as you see fit).
