Bump to get back into people's mind.

What designs are you currently selling? Just the ones in the first post?
15522  Other / Off-topic / Re: Movie Recommendation Station on: February 02, 2014, 02:48:44 PM
Can anyone recommend a good sc-fi -  not widely known but still good?
Moon
Serenity
Red Planet

I've seen Ender's Game few days ago - it was nice but felt like a summary. They wanted to insert as much from the book as possible and it seemed like a slideshow of memories.

Haven't seen the other two, but Moon was decent. Oblivion had a few similarities. Film was so-so though.
15523  Other / Off-topic / Re: There are some real scumbags in crypto on: February 02, 2014, 02:47:06 PM

My primary concern really aren't speculators who get burned being on the wrong side of extreme-risk trades.
My primary concern is the reputation these pump&dumps leave on the CryptoCurrency area in general, IMHO this can and will eventually assist in discrediting BitCoin/LiteCoin (or worse, serve as a welcome excuse for regulators to hammer in to "protect their investing citizens" and alike).

Most of these AltCoins are doing more damage than anything else and are headed in a very very bad direction. Really bad.
To me, they are the biggest threat to the BitCoin principles in existence and there's nothing in sight that could stop them.

Yeah, all these alts really do give crypto a bad name. The fact that people even bother mining or dealing with them is troubling,

Just think of altcoins as an inferior product. It's just like buying a cheaper non-branded product as opposed to the quality original.

People. Because FU

lol sociopaths unite....actually FU

I think that would be misanthropes, not sociopaths  Cheesy.
15525  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Netflix to accept Bitcoins soon on: February 02, 2014, 02:13:53 PM
Almost all the online retailers are thinking about accepting bitcoins. I often think about vomiting in the toilet, but I don't usually make it. Is Keiser turning into a Speculation thread troll? Kiss

(Source1 doesn't appear to display any article, just posts the article title and a picture)
I used to like Keiser way before I got into Bitcoin, but he does seem to be turning into quite the troll now. Are you aware of the coin named after being released soon?
Yeah. He seems like a fun kind of guy to hang out with, though maybe is occasionally violent when drunk. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yrpibturk5I

What the fuck. He went a bit demonic there for a few seconds. That was slightly disturbing.

My real question is will this allow Netflix to offer better titles? ... Probably not
If that's what you're looking for, then TPB offers more titles AND accepts Bitcoin! Cheesy

It will also get you a cease and desist notice from your ISP...
Only in America.

I think a few people have had them in the UK. They're just hot air letters though intending to scare you.
15526  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hedge fund boss: Bitcoin over gold? Are you kidding? on: February 02, 2014, 02:08:50 PM
I'd take Bitcoin over gold right now. Bitcoin's value lies in the sheer revolutionary concept of it. All this talk about intrinsic value is a moot point really.
15527  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ALL SET! A Bitcoin-themed banner WILL be present at Super Bowl XLVIII. on: February 02, 2014, 02:05:27 PM
Why didn't you make it a donation address to Sean's Outpost? At least then you will know if anybody scans it.
15528  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: $100 via BTC bounty to first person snagging img of Bitcoin banner at SB XLVIII. on: February 02, 2014, 02:03:44 PM
I might actual watch the game just to see if I can spot this.
15529  Other / Meta / Re: It's Time For Theymos To Kill The Alt Section on: February 02, 2014, 01:53:09 PM
26 out of the first 40 "Recent Updated Topics" right now are about alt-coins.

I 'm not saying that the alt coin section should be killed but it's definetaly getting harder and harder to read something about bitcoin in this forum.

You can ignore the board in your preferences.

As i said i don't want for the alt section to be killed altogether. I 'm looking mostly for measures like the giveaway ban, to shift the main focus of this forum back to bitcoin.

But then again you are a prime dice signature spammer so you don't really care about what i said. You just want to make yet another useless post.

I don't see how what I said constitutes as spam, you're just being petty. I also don't understand how the alt coin section makes it harder for you to read about Bitcoin.
The altcoin section has served its purpose my friend. its no longer about about innovation, instead it just serves as a place for scammers to present their business models to unsuspecting crypto noobies, leaving them holding the bag on yet another clonecoin. this point is irrefutable.

Whilst I agree that 99% of these alts serve no purpose other than get rich quick schemes for the devs, closing the section wont eliminate them but simply just move them on to somewhere else, much like what has happened with the giveaway section. There's always going to be newbs who want to get in on the crytpo movement, so just let them have their toys to play with in their little playpen. Hopefully most users will quickly outgrown them and realise what a waste of time they are anyway.
15530  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-01-31] Forbes - Silk Road Vendor Filing Claim For Seized Bitcoins on: February 02, 2014, 01:35:41 PM
For those confused by the $95K number.  Pull up a year long Bitcoin chart.  Lookup exchange rate at the time the silk road was closed.   Multiply that by 1000.  It isn't $95K.
Oh, yeah, that makes sense.  I wonder if he kept all of his revenue on SR or if he has a bigger stash offline.

He was pretty silly to keep all that online if he did.
15531  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ive Been using faucets for weeks and im yet to receive a single Satoshi...Why? on: February 02, 2014, 01:20:48 PM
Can anyone help with this? Im new to BTC and after talking about it with a guy at work i decided to give it a go. I won't put any real money into it until i see for myself if its worth my time. He told me about the faucets and also about how they pay out peanuts
Why?

They pay less than peanuts. They pay peanut dust. Get a blockchain.info wallet for a starter and set up all the security features so you don't have to download the blockchain. If you want to get started with Bitcoin just buy a little bit off ebay first.

Why is the current status online at this moment, when that account is banned?

I think you can still log-in and browse etc, just not actually interact.
15535  Other / Off-topic / Re: snowden-files-computer-destroyed-guardian-gchq-basement-video on: February 02, 2014, 01:05:22 PM
yeah, couldn't understand the significance of this...like what was their point?

I think it was at the behest of the government, and/or maybe just this:

If they wanted to clear the data they could've just used a large neodymium magnet, submerged the it in acid, or burn it.
They clearly wanted to make a scene out of this, so they prepared little stations for people and gave each a "piece of the pie" so they can drill holes in it and have loads of fun.
15536  Other / Off-topic / Re: What other ways do you use to make money online? on: February 02, 2014, 01:02:39 PM
Gambling!

This how do people make money, not lose it  Grin.

Have you had any big wins (or loses)?
15537  Other / Off-topic / Re: Move to Central America? on: February 02, 2014, 01:00:04 PM
You want to move to Costa Rica on the whim of a dream?
Yup. Atleast look at the possibility to do so!

You need to search for expatriate blogs or forums for the countries you are interested in. This is a bitcoin forum  Grin
That's why I asked in the Off Topic section Smiley

If you're a dreamer, go for it. But tell your friends and family first  Grin.
I am a dreamer, so no problems! Cheesy However it is probably a good idea to tell my family and friends. I'm also pretty sure my mother will start to panic (she tends to do that when I leave my safe apartment in Sweden).
The biggest problem is how I'm going to fund it… I have a very limited amount of money haha...

Anyway, I'm thinking of this instead of Costa Rica: http://www.thisamericangirl.com/2013/05/08/please-dont-go-to-little-corn-island-nicaragua/

Ah yes, funds can be a problem. Do you not have m/any Bitcoins?
I've got some, however that will just cover the flight ticket and maybe a week of living… Probably have to work a for a while to save up some money. The positive thing is that it's really cheap to live there, so I won't have to save for that long! Cheesy

I'd put your dream on hold and hold those coins until they're worth a lot more, then go travelling. That's what I'm hoping to do.

15539  Other / Off-topic / Re: Silkroad 2.0 on: February 02, 2014, 12:52:40 PM
This guy in England who apparently sold legit goods on SR is trying to sue for his money back haha: http://www.forbes.com/sites/andygreenberg/2014/01/31/silk-road-vendor-filing-claim-for-seized-bitcoins-argues-he-sold-only-legal-items/

There has to be a few other sellers who were "completely legit", as it were. Good luck to him!

There was a few who sold legal items and/or legal drugs (alcohol etc). Will be interesting to see what happens.

In theory, he should get his coins back. In practice ..... nah. The feds won't want to open that can of worms.

I can't see him getting any of his coins back. I wonder if the grounds for seizure of coins would've been different had SR servers not been hosted in the US?

I always wondered where the servers were located. Is the actual physical location know?

Hmm, not sure actually. I thought I read it was in the states, but it seems uncertain: http://www.theguardian.com/technology/2013/oct/08/silk-road-hack-suspicion-fbi-server

Quote
Some internet sleuthing, meanwhile, suggests that the Silk Road server itself may have been hosted in Iceland: Runa Sandvik, who works on the Tor Project, notes that there's an Icelandic server at https://193.107.86.49/ which has a self-signed certificate, and redirects to silkroadvb5piz3r.onion - the Silk Road website.

But, Sandvik points out, the FBI affidavit says that the server was imaged (ie copied) as part of a Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty request - and Iceland doesn't appear to be a signatory to a MLAT with the US. "That leaves us with Latvia and Romania, Sandvik comments.

So we're left with uncertainty which might not be answered until the FBI brings its full charges to the courtroom. Did a US agency use an exploit - perhaps even a zero-day one (ie, not previously notified) to hack the Silk Road server, and so gain access to details about who was accessing the server - and then follow the trail back to its alleged owner and users? Or was the takedown of Silk Road the result of painstaking piece-by-piece detective work? This is a trial which will be watched with great interest.

Sunshine is worth a watch if you haven't already seen it.

Really? Thought it was pretty confusing and nonsensical. Had some cool effects though.

It was a bit strange, but it is rated 7.3 on IMDB which is definitely watchable lol.

Oh well if IMDB says it's a 7.3 then...  Grin

Haha it's usually a good indicator of watchability. Never let me down. The Internship had a mediocre score and the film itself was mediocre.

Yeah, but The Godfather is 9.2 on there, so...
