16421  Other / Meta / Re: Suspicious link removed?! on: January 23, 2014, 11:04:10 AM
Hello

I run a very small pool for a low-hps altcoin(SocialCoin) which was working ok (vary between 10% and 30% of the total coin's hash rate usually) until the last days. I was wondering why the mining pretty much dried up suddenly, when I noticed that in the SocialCoin main post(https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=412331.0) my pool is no longer listed! Instead it says "http://soc.[Suspicious link removed]" . Is there anything that can lead to that for my whole domain? Did someone complain about something, or what else can be the reason for that happening? I can assure you that my pool was always honest and fair, and afaik I was never hacked(for sure no coins were ever stolen anyway).

So, in the end, what I want to know is what I can do about this?

Thank you

Pretty sure it's just an automatic spam/suspicious link preventative measure. Maybe just break the url up if it's not posting properly. It happens with newbs a lot more than other users I think.
16422  Other / Meta / Re: Newb question on: January 23, 2014, 11:02:33 AM
So I can no longer post or reply in the newbie board.. does that ever change? I still feel like a newbie and would really like to interact there.

You can post and reply, just not start new threads.

So I can no longer post or reply in the newbie board.. does that ever change? I still feel like a newbie and would really like to interact there.

Dont think you can post in the newbie section anymore. Also, i was downgraded to newbie, and i have seen many people as jr.members that have far less posts and activity than me. Not sure how that is correct, but whatever, i dont really care about the title (but i care about the rep for the ability to conduct transactions here).

Reputation was unaffected, unless you mean something different. A few people have complained about the memebergroups not changing right. Maybe it's just a bug or will correct itself with time.
16423  Other / Meta / Re: Newbie Question on: January 23, 2014, 10:53:01 AM
Why were they lifted?  Because people stopped spamming the boards or something?

Who knows? The forum gods work in mysterious ways.

Wow, BTC is really advancing fast now   Cheesy

So what's this about exactly? And I wouldn't go walking around NY looking like that. She's asking to get shot by some trigger-happy cop who think she's a suicide bomber.
16425  Other / Off-topic / Re: Thinking about moving to OZ from UK on: January 23, 2014, 10:47:18 AM
I am thinking about moving to OZ from UK. Anyone from OZ around here?

I want to know what the national debts OZ got and how much? Also how much is the VAT in OZ. Also is the electricity in OZ cheap?

I heard Australia has pretty strict immigration laws ie you need a specific trade which will be beneficial to the country to emigrate there, so take that in to consideration if you don't have one.

Does snake and big spider come into the house? Also Bondi has any chance of forest fire or flood?

Yes, there are big spiders everywhere.
16426  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Stop killing the DOGE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! on: January 22, 2014, 11:23:06 PM
Take a deep breath. If you're one of the true long-term supporters as you claim then a little up and down action the last couple days shouldn't bother you. You should be more focused on the big picture. You're out of your mind if you think a handful of pump and dump small timers are going to have any kind of mass effect on this coin. Just relax a little bit and go take a nap, by the time you get back it will have stabled out a bit.

The only long term goal Dogefans care about is 'going to the moon', only that's never gonna happen.
16427  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do people think income tax is ok? on: January 22, 2014, 11:20:29 PM
Before the creation of the Federal Reserve in 1913, there was no income tax in the US. Just some tariffs, and limited government. There were some states that had no tariffs, either; the state governments paid for their existence by issuing currency at (minimal) interest, and levied no tax of any kind on their citizens.

I'm equally reminded of American's first reactions to the idea of compulsory schooling; they fought against it, understanding that their children were to be indoctrinated by the state. That indoctrination has been so successful that most people don't even know that a bare 100 years ago, there was no income tax.

I have no idea why people think any form of tax is ok, because it's akin to saying that violence is acceptable. I would happily, voluntarily pay for services like hospitals and roads; I do not happily pay at the point of a gun/court.

Some history at http://www.thenewamerican.com/culture/history/item/14268-before-the-income-tax

So you're happy to pay taxes as long as they're not called taxes?

 Grin.

Isn't there some states that have no income tax?
16428  Economy / Lending / Re: Requirements for BTC Loan on: January 22, 2014, 11:09:36 PM
i want to apply for a BTC loan and was just wondering what the requirements were:

I know it says you can use collateral but what can i use as collateral

Would people be willing to loan me BTC if i didnt have any collateral

You almost certainly won't get a loan without offering some sort of collateral. People tend to only loan money if you've got other coins of equal value to what you want to lend, but it's kinda pointless then anyway. You might be able to get a small loan, but even then that might be difficult.

Hostel talk, off topic.

Sometimes off-topic threads go off-topic  Grin.

Ok, back on topic - If Bitcoin value goes through the roof the first place I'd go to would be Thailand:

Yeah, This is 40 wasn't all that great. It's definitely not a comedy, either. More of a drama... Some of the same feel as Knocked Up, but less funny and less poignant, in my opinion.

Deffo felt more of a drama. Had none of the charm of Knocked Up. Plus Apatow's films are really long and can get tedious easily. Funny People, uggh.

Adam Sandler y u no make funny movies anymore?  Grin

Lol. Sandler was on fire back in the late 90s/early 2000s but just absolute crap now. His films keep making hundreds of millions though. It's crazy.

Yeah isn't he officially the number one overpaid actor in Hollywood? He must be laughing all the way to the bank.

Thought it was funny when he was nominated for loads of categories in the razzies for Jack & Jill -  worst male/female actor etc. I see Grown Ups 2 has been nominated for a load as well.

http://www.theguardian.com/film/2014/jan/16/razzies-2014-adam-sandler-grown-ups-2-film

Kevin James, man, what a Mall Cop.

How does Sandler keep getting such high paid work?

Probably because millions of people keep paying millions to see his millions of shitty films  Grin.

Anger Management was probably his last funny/half-decent film.

Hostels do the trick for me. A fun way to meet people as well.

Like prostitutes?  Roll Eyes

And thieves and/or rapists. If you wake up in the morning with a headache and a sore arse and your backpack has gone, you know what's happened  Grin.

What hostels have you guys been staying at? Grin

Have you seen the film Hostel? Based on a true story Grin.

It's not the kind of true story you're thinking of, though! The "killing people for money" part is apparently true according to Roth and Harry Knowles, but the girls leading the guys to death... Not true.

Though it's not impossible to find hot women at hostels... I speak from experience!

Yes, it's based on 'partially true events'. People have been kidnapped for torture games for sure. Foreigners adn backpackers meeting in a new city + a few drinks and dancing = sex.

I wasn't being serious about Hostel being based on a trust story. Half of these crappy horror films claim to be based on a true story, but in reality are mostly BS. Apparently The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was just about a neighbourly dispute over some hedge-trimmers that got blown out of proportion.
16432  Economy / Services / Re: Earn up to 0.1BTC / month for your signature space - blockchain-reaction.com on: January 22, 2014, 10:38:47 PM
I understand trust has to be earned on these forums, especially since this is the first promotion of this type I've run.

Here's a little about me, for full transparency:

My name is Paul Firth, I'm running a fully registered Ltd company in the UK (Wildbunny Ltd company no. 7308277).

I've been running a game development blog for few years now: http://www.wildbunny.co.uk/blog/

I'm currenty running another promotion in the gambling section where everyone who posted their username has been credited already: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=425542.0

I'm not expecting people to switch over from Stunna's (or any other) promotion to this one, but I am hoping that people who don't already have a sig advert, have played my game and enjoyed it and would like to help promote an original, unique, 100% skill based multi-player game will consider promoting this rather than yet another dice or casino game. Not that I have anything against those ideas, of course!

Cheers, Paul.

Why don't you offer a small bonus if they have the funds deposited into the site account, or maybe offer a raffle prize in BTC for one lucky sig participant? If you offer the chance to win a big Bitcoin raffle prize people might switch over, and at least then you only have to pay out a little extra to one person.

You cannot say something stupid like 'it's their own choice' when they've put nets up to stop people from jumping out the fucking windows. Get a grip.

I wonder if the nets are there to save lives or save on the cleaning bill?
16435  Other / Meta / Re: why did I go back to newbie? on: January 22, 2014, 10:04:18 PM
ya my activity is 42 now when I posted this it was like 20 or something.

Does sending PM's and everything you do build activity or just posting/reading?

Just posting I believe. You get a max activity of 14 per two-week period.
16436  Economy / Services / Re: Earn up to 0.1BTC / month for your signature space - blockchain-reaction.com on: January 22, 2014, 09:45:22 PM
The payment is a bit too low. Stunna offers this up to 4000 posts and youre new.

The payment is the same, only you can make a max total of 500 posts, but I don't know why people would choose this over PD and Bit777 when they're offering the same and have rep.

Exactly, so the payment amounts should increase.

There will have to be some benefit for people to switch over that's for sure.

I see this as healthy competition, actually. It suits better for people who don't spam (no offense to those over 500 posts who don't spam) and the signature is way less intrusive.

Competition and a choice of offers is great, but any rational person would look at this and other offers and think why bother? There needs to be some enticement even if it's a small one. What happens if you get to the 500 posts on this and then you're capped? At least with some of the others you can keep going.

Well, nobody forces them to work for Apple. Its their choice. In fact chinese people wish to work there

Spoken like a true IFascist Applefanboy lol.

Haha.

Most women aren't forced into prostitution but for some it's unfortunately the only choice they have. Apple should take a stand and refuse to work or buy from any producers who have unfair practises. If your boss started treating you like shit, would you think oh, well, it's my choice to work here or would you quit? If that job was the only one you knew you could get then you'd probably just tolerate it, but otherwise you'd most likely just walk out, but these people probably don't have that luxury.
