The 'fortune' – who can calculate and check other calculations – can be produced in another way. E.g. P2P drawing, the winners can calculate and check. The fortune should be weighted. The one who is loyal to the net and reliable (identified by key pair) should get more to do with bigger possibility from the network.
By 'drawing' - you mean some sort of lottery amongst participants? If so - how does this make the system less wasteful of resources? Unless you have some central authority making sure each 'person' only creates a limited number of network nodes - then the end result will *still* just be that people create massive farms of computer systems which act as a *vast* number of nodes. Instead of 1 person having a few mining machines crunching numbers - that one person will have millions/billions of 'virtual' nodes entering the lottery and so they'll still use a lot of electricity and hardware. Please explain how you intend to make the system not waste resources? |

I won't put my input into the poll, as I haven't committed an amount to the Bitcoin100 (though I'm following and donating to some of the listed charities as I see fit)
It seems to me that while archive.org is a worthy cause (I've thrown them a small donation) they're not exactly a 'charity' are they?
I think it'd be better to preserve the bulk of the funds for causes which are more likely to be of wider appeal.
I'll give at least 1BTC to Médecins Sans Frontières if/when they put up a bitcoin address.

At the risk of this heading down a path that was NOT intended... some people just want the human contact. Whether they know it or not, this is one of the main reasons people visit masseuses today.
And that being the case... it seems clear to me that demand for this will always exceed the supply of people willing to just massage everyone for free out of charity. But that won't make the demand go away, despite the (monstrous, totalitarian) re-education that would be so desperately focused on to try to change human nature.
So, again, for someone seeking this service today, they just visit a spa, ask for the service, and pay some form of money for it.

You'd cultivate a relationship with someone. The answer is most probably that one wouldn't 'acquire' one from strangers. Is that a black mark against RBE? Where on earth does that notion come from? I rather think the RBE will fail if one of it's main goals is to eliminate 'poverty' because the natural currency that would arise, without people even realizing it at first, would be 'reputation' & 'popularity'. People would be sucking up to each other left right and center to 'put a good word in for me' with someone else.. to be part of the 'in' group etc. That's how you'd get your massage. "hey.. get me invited to that party all the cool folk are going to.... I'll give you a nice back rub!" There would still be social lepers - and they would be the new poor, but this time there isn't some other currency they can use to alleviate the suffering their social ineptitude might cause them. |

i think i've designed it similar to the CBOE Put:Call ratio of index options which is a very simple, but very popular sentiment indicator for the stock market. its simply the number of bulls to bears. i should calculate the ratio to be more exact but the poll powered by Vizu doesn't have that capability. their algorithm also controls how often you can vote which by my observations seems to be around twice a day or so. Oh.. So it is some sort of survey. I saw some graphic box on the right of your site indicating the percentages - but I didn't see how to contribute to the poll. On further investigation I see you have to click 'comment'. How utterly un-intuitive. I guess your poll is highly skewed to those who are really *keen* to dig around to participate. |
