What is worse is that should not be their decision to make. ATP is the covering organisation and they are the entity that gives out bans and similar stuff to players. ATP suspended Russia from Davis cup and Fed cup but allowed their players to compete. Can you imagine Quatar banning some team from world cup without FIFA doing it? This is just posturing to see how much tournament owners can get away with.

Yep, agreed. As far as I know, there are no individual bans for Russians to work in England. So, if a ball boy can be Russian and a bus driver can be Russian, I really don't understand why a tennis player can't be Russian as well.

After all - as you said - ATP is the governing body. Wimbledon should be following ATP's rules and I hope they won't get away with this.

The Wimbledon tournament is not organized by the ATP but by the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet club, or abbreviated All England Club and they are a private members' club.
This means that the ATP has no influence on Wimbledon organizers and can't prevent them from making their own decisions regarding the tennis tournament.
I think it is obvious that the All England Club is under a lot of pressure from the British government and that I can't make a different decision.
I'm sorry for Medvedev and other Russian and Belarusian tennis players, but this is a political decision and I do not believe it will change.

Villarreal are trying, to be able to reach the semi-final this season in the champions league is not easy. The yellow submarines beat Juventus at knock-out stage, as if that was not enough, they shocked the world of football when they eliminated almighty Bayern Munich from the quarterfinal. It's still a misery in football because Villarreal became the first team to beat Bayern Munich in champions league this season, and they beat them in the first leg of quarter finals, and draw them in the second leg. The Nigerian borne winger, Samuel Chukwueze levelled the game in the returning leg after Bayern dominated the game and outplayed Villarreal. One good thing with Villarreal is that, they don't have too much stars and are good when it comes to defensive tactics. They will face Liverpool in the semi-finals of the champions league. Let's see what will be the outcome of the game.

The elimination of Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals of this season's UCL has surprised so many people considering they are one of the main candidates for the UCL title this season, but the hard work shown by Villarreal was truly extraordinary where they successfully beat Bayern Munich in the first leg and played draw in the second leg, how in the second leg Bayern Munich controlled 65% ball possession and released 4 shots on target but the carelessness of the bavarian rearguard was put to good use by Chukwueze while making the yellow submarine team qualify for the semifinals with 2-1 aggregate

Did you watch the first match between Bayern and Villareal?
In that first game Villareal was much better than Bayern and it's a miracle that that game ended with only a minimal victory of the Spanish team of 1:0.
In fact, Villareal missed a great opportunity to solve the issue of the winner in that first match, but they also played very well in the second match, especially in defense, and deservedly made it to the semifinals.
I think that all those who think that Liverpool will easily reach the final and that villareal has no chance are wrong.
It will be two very difficult games for Liverpool.
As for Bayern, it is obvious that they are in a crisis of games and results, which could be seen in the first game against Salzburg in the Champions League.

Transfer rumours:

Manchester City and England forward Raheem Sterling, 27, is on a list of players AC Milan want to sign amid reports of a potential Ł850m takeover of the 18-time champions of Italy. Is this a good decision for Manchester City? What if Haaland gets hurt?
Manchester City have told Dortmund and Norway striker Erling Braut Haaland, 21, that he could join Real Madrid later in his career if he moves to the Etihad this summer. The signing-on fee and agent commission on a potential deal could add Ł40m to the Ł63m transfer fee stipulated by Haaland's release clause. Interesting news. Does Haaland really have that much desire to play for Real once?
Real Madrid and Barcelona are both interested in signing Chelsea and Germany defender Antonio Rudiger, 29, who is out of contract at the end of the season but is keen to stay at Stamford Bridge. What Rudiger will decide in the end?
Lazio, Juventus and AC Milan could all be destinations for Chelsea and Italy midfielder Jorginho, 30, who is unlikely to be offered an extension to a contract that expires at the end of next season. Everyone is leaving Chelsea, who will eventually stay at the club?
Tottenham are confident of keeping England forward Harry Kane, 28, this summer and considering a move to bring Brentford and Denmark midfielder Christian Eriksen, 30, back to the club. Spurs are also keeping tabs on 24-year-old Leicester and Belgium midfielder Youri Tielemans. How realistic are these expectations?

This has been speculated about for a long time and now it has become official.

''Russian and Belarusian players will not be allowed to compete at Wimbledon this year because of the invasion of Ukraine.''
''It is understood the All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) will confirm the move later on Wednesday.''

Source: https://www.bbc.com/sport/tennis/61161016

Very difficult news for Medvedev, Sabalenka and other tennis players from these countries.
Could it happen that two currently best tennis players don't play at the Wimbledon, Djokovic due to non-vaccination and Medvedev due to the war in Ukraine?
Do you think it's okay to limit tennis players' appearances in tournaments because of the war?
Should sport be separated from daily politics?

Even without Ronaldo Portugal is a still a very good team. I know Portugal will qualify for the final. Portugal is one of the team that  always qualify to participate for world cup, don't think Ronaldo is not the only hope for Portugal.
Portugal is still my favorite not only because of Ronaldo only but the team is strong with good players. I am expecting to see portugal in the final stage because I really want to win the world best because he had been working for this for long. His presence will help the team to do well in winning the world cup.

Exactly the same thing could be said for Messi and Argentina.
Argentina is also a very good team and Messi also really wants to win the World Cup, similar to Ronaldo.
However, realistically in the competition Brazil, France, England etc., I think that both Ronaldo and Messi will find it very difficult to realize their dreams of the world title.
I agree that these are very dangerous teams that will be a difficult obstacle for the favorites of the competition, but I still do not see them as world champions.
1706  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread -- 2021/22 Round of 16! on: April 20, 2022, 01:06:12 PM
In my opinion, although Benzema is currently often an important player for Real Madrid's victories, that doesn't mean Real Madrid only relies on Benzema, this is a team game and Real Madrid is a team that has a big mentality in the Champions League because they are the holders of the most UCL trophies.
The match against Man City is certainly very interesting because both teams have good quality and anything is still possible and I think the chances of these two teams to qualify for the final are still 50-50.

Real Madrid relied solely on Benzema's performance to reach the semi-finals. Benzema's hat-trick against PSG would have prevented Real Madrid from reaching the semi-finals. You're right, it's a team game. But Real Madrid relies on Benzema to score. And if Benzema doesn't play well, Real Madrid won't be able to win. Doesn't this mean that the team is dependent on Benzema's performance? Yet I agree with you that the chances of both teams winning are still equal. Real Madrid is also a very experienced team.

In fact, not much has changed in Real’s game before, when they won 3 Champions Leagues in a row, and now.
They used to be completely dependent on Ronaldo and his goals, and now they depend on Benzema and his goals instead.
If their previous strategy with Ronaldo was successful, why do you think this strategy with Benzema will not be successful now?  Grin
It’s the obvious way Real plays and sure won't change.
Still, I think Manchester City is a more complete team with more solutions in the game and I think they have the advantage.

Rikafip, hvala ti još jednom na tvom trudu i vremenu oko ove analize.
Rezultati mi nisu iznenađenje, jer sam tijekom prošlog mjeseca zapazio manjak aktivnih i zanimljivih tema, gdje bih mogao pisati, a samim time smanjio se i moj broj postova.

Transfer rumours:

Liverpool are planning to offer Senegal international Sadio Mane a new contract. The 30-year-old forward's current deal ends in 12 months. What will Mane decide? Continue to play together with your friend Salah or decide on a new challenge?
Borussia Dortmund chief Sebastian Kehl says Manchester City have not agreed a deal to sign Norwegian striker Erling Braut Haaland, 21. Does that mean that Haaland is going to Real in the end?
Bayern Munich chief executive Oliver Kahn says the club do not have the financial might to sign Haaland. Kahn also confirmed the club are in contract negotiations with Polish forward Robert Lewandowski, 33. Bayern can't bring in Haaland but the question is whether they can keep Lewandowski at the club as well?
Arsenal could let as many as 12 players leave this summer with Germany goalkeeper Bernd Leno, 30, Spain defender Hector Bellerin, 27, and France forward Alexandre Lacazette, 30, all set to depart. A lot of players are leaving. What's going on with Arsenal?
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti says Croatia midfielder Luka Modric will finish his career at the club. The 36-year-old has been linked with moves to Newcastle and Manchester City. Has this finally confirmed that Modric will stay at Real until the end?

^^ I guess it's better for her to take a break and let that injury heal first before making a comeback, otherwise it will just haunt her down and maybe it will have a toll on his mind and body and won't be able to get back to her old form. Maybe it was the 'curse' of the US Open for women, or just maybe bad luck on her side for having that blisters on her hand.

I don't think the blisters is luck really, she has been suffering from them a few times this season. We have to remember that her body is not used to the rigours of the professional tour yet, it will take time for her to get used to it not just mentally, but also physically. Remember her matches this week were her first ever on clay at the top level, which just sounds crazy. She doesn't even really know how to move on the surface, it is a huge learning curve.

I'm confident we will see her back up near the top, and I'm sure she is capable of being a top 10 player and challenging regularly for slams... but what she needs now is time. It may be a year or two before we start to see her potential in anything other than brief flashes.

Personally, I’m not so optimistic about her future tennis career and I wonder if we’re looking at another Osaka case?
Ever since she won the GS in America she seems to have lost her confidence and no longer plays at that level.
She does not seem to be able to withstand the great public pressure and expectations from her.
Immediately after the greatest success of her tennis career, she fired her coach and since then she has not achieved any major tennis results.
1712  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA 2022 world cup on: April 18, 2022, 10:14:48 AM
I agree with Portugal... a team that barely managed to qualify for a place in the world cup is a long way from reaching the final.

But I disagree with what you said about Brazil, disregard the fact that I'm Brazilian Grin... but have you seen Brazil's games in the impeccable qualification for the world cup? How many goals did Neymar score?
The Brazilian team isn't longer dependent on an ace, it has very talented players that are causing great indecision in the head of the coach.
I really believe in an incredible performance by Brazil in this Qatar World Cup.
Perfect performance on qualification not guarantee with Brazil will have impressive performance on FIFA 2022 world cup Qatar, I know many people favorite Brazil as candidate for the champion on FIFA 2022 world cup but almost several time always failed reaching to final after last time on 2022. Looks Brazil era have over without have good forward like Ronaldo, Romario and Rivaldo. I think Neymar is not potential and always have bad character with diving style and make Brazil little chance to get champion on this world cup time. But I hope Brazil can dominance on FIFA 2022 world cup will lead until final stage.

In the last 20 years, we have a great dominance of European national teams at world championships.
The last national team from South America to win the World Cup was Brazil 20 years ago.
At every World Cup, Brazil came as a favorite and had great players, but something would always happen and they would lose.
Will it be different this time?
It is very difficult for me to say that because at this World Cup we will have at least 4-5 national teams coming as favorites for the title, such as France, England, Spain, Germany, Argentina etc.
Portugal was unconvincing in the European qualifiers and would not place them in this group of favorites for the title but they remain a dangerous team for everyone.
On the other hand, it seems to me that Neymar is no longer at his peak and will not be able to help his national team much.

For the draw between Liverpool and Villarreal, I believe that Liverpool are very close to advancing to final round in the Champions League. Villarreal might not be that strong against them this time. Or I can put it this way: Liverpool would dominate the game in Anfield for certain. But as for the game in Spain, Villarreal would show a strong performance against them and wouldn't lose easily.
Even where they are now is a feat for Villareal. I think Liverpool will eliminate them. There may even be two English teams in the final. Manchester City can knock out Real Madrid. In such a final, the chances of both teams would be equal. Let's see if Villareal can make another surprise and make it to the final.
Many football experts predict the grand final of Liverpool and Manchester City in the Champions League.
But those same football experts also predicted a sure victory for Bayern against Villareal, and they also said that Chelsea have no chance in return to Madrid, right?  Grin
Villarreal have a very good defense and will be a very difficult opponent for Liverpool and Real have already shown this season in the Champions League that they are a cat with 9 lives and that they should never be written off.
Very uncertain and completely open semi-final matches await us, and the current inspiration and individual quality of the players will decide.

Actually not only the experts I think nobody thought those teams that actually got through in the next stage had any chance of qualifying. but obviously, we can see that football is a crazy game and crazy things can happen. actually, anyone is going to think Bayern Munich is going to win in a match against Villarreal. but that didn't happen and I think now Villarreal has the confidence to play like a top-tier team. But I obviously don't think they will be in the finals and I also expect Liverpool and Manchester City to be in the finals.

There have been many bigger surprises in the Champions League in the past.
Does anyone remember Bayer 04 Leverkusen who played in the Champions League final with Real 2002?
Villarreal is a very dangerous team with a strong defense and fast attacks and every club will have big problems with them.
Liverpool, of course, have better chances against them, but Bayern also had better chances, so we know what happened  Grin

Earnings from marketing are perhaps even more important, and that includes TV rights, selling stadium names, advertising on player equipment etc.
Just to get an idea, here's the news on how much Barcelona will earn from a new sponsorship deal with music streaming giant Spotify:
https://www.forbes.com/sites/tomsanderson/2022/03/15/fc-barcelona-announce-spotify-sponorship-deal/?sh=561cdd513312

Barcelona has financial problems but we all know that.
Much more important, however, is the club's reputation and the interest of sponsors, which is still very high.
Xavi has stabilized the team, finances are improving, the club still has very talented players and there is no need to worry about the future of the club.
Barcelona played a very bad match with Frankfurt in a strange atmosphere where at their own stadium their fans were in the minority, which affected the players.
Next season it will be a completely different story, and Barcelona will once again fight for all the trophies, including the Champions League trophy.

Why are you trying to downplay the loss in the CL and UL? A successful club logically generates more profits in all sections, including marketing, than an unsuccessful club. Therefore, not only are the profits lost through the UL, but in general the income will be reduced.

Of course, deals like Spotify are great, but that doesn't change the points witch I already explained.

I don’t think I’m downplaying Barcelona’s financial problems.
I clearly wrote that Barcelona has serious financial problems, but I also explained why I think these problems will be solved soon.
Barcelona have lost a lot with the departure of Messi and relegation from the Champions League this season, but these are only short-term problems.
Every serious club or organization has a long-term strategy of development and financing, and Barcelona is no exception.
I expect Barcelona to stabilize financially in the next 5 years, and Xavi have already revived them on the field in the second half of this season.
The Champions League is important in terms of marketing and finances, but Barcelona will make up for it through business agreements with Spotify and with other marketing projects.
On the other hand, even relegation from the European League will not hurt Barcelona too much, because this competition is already less financially viable for BAcelona from the Champions League.

Does anyone follow Raducanu, the great hope of women’s tennis?
The latest news about that girl is not very promising, and she seems to have major injury problems:

''If bathing her blistered feet in surgical spirit every day is what it takes, Emma Raducanu will do it as she bids to stop physical issues hampering her tennis.''
''Raducanu, who retired with a leg injury from a lengthy opening-round match in Mexico in February and and struggled with a blister on her racquet hand in her Australian Open second-round defeat in January, said the physical issues were frustrating and she was doing everything she could to overcome them.
"My physio Will is bathing my feet in surgical spirit every day - it's definitely painful," Raducanu, who is scheduled to play in Stuttgart next week, told BBC Sport.
"We did it after the match [on Saturday]. I was literally screaming but you've got to do what you've got to do and try and get ready for Stuttgart."

"I think my tennis level is pretty good, it's just about being able to repeat it or maintain it or not be hampered by any kind of physical issues and as soon as I sort all these out and keep building on my tennis level, then I think I will be able to put out good matches back to back."

Source: https://www.bbc.com/sport/tennis/61129492

Too bad, after winning the GS in America, she seemed to have a great tennis career ahead of her, but then she changed coaches first, so injuries came, bad tennis matches etc.
Will Raducanu return to the old level of tennis and start winning tennis tournaments again?

The most important income of big clubs like Barca is the champions league, then the uefa league as a substitute. With a title in the UL or CL you get financial budget that is completely missing now and you can't just replace that.

What they currently earn is the least, the club has high debts and had to give away a lot of top players because they couldn't even pay the salaries anymore for example Messi and now you‘re talking about lewa  Cheesy

It would be logical for people to discuss crypto topics on a crypto forum, but it is obvious that external circumstances strongly influence people’s emotions and thinking.
Political topics should still be kept where they belong, in politics, and the crypto part of the forum should be free from political debates.

OK, I agree that learning and education are important, but in general the purpose of any online forum is much broader than that, including our forum.
Online forums are also places for discussions and debates, meetings with like-minded people, exchange of information and news etc.
After all, people can use youtube channels, websites etc. to learn, but the most important purpose of the forum is interaction.
As for merits, members give them for quality and constructive posts that do not always have to be related to learning and education.

There are also real crypto professionals, who already know a lot about crypto and come to this forum to promote their products and services.
Although the Croatian part of the forum is relatively small and there are not many active users, we already have 2 crypto companies that promote their crypto services in our country.
Of course technically anyone who registers on this forum for the first time is a newbie but it is only a formal category and these members have a lot more experience in the crypto than most of us on this forum.
