Seinfeld if you have some how managed to never see it. Curb Your Enthusiasm if you haven't seen it and liked Seinfeld.

Also i just finished daredevil. It was pretty good. I don't regret the time spent watching it. Though there is the occasional usual left liberal drivel peppered throughout. You have to be able to over look that. It's not so much that I couldn't manage it.
1722  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: May 02, 2015, 01:08:05 PM
Why would the XBT or XMR be "illegal"? Furthermore there are many situations where 1) The transaction is perfectly legal, 2) Privacy is important and 3) the amount is well below any AML / KNC threshold. Here is a good example. http://www.salon.com/2014/04/28/one_womans_attempt_to_hide_her_pregnancy_from_big_data/.

Ok yea that's possible. But I don't know that people will really care enough to seek out anonymity in situations where it is not deemed "necessary". I thought you were speaking in reference to things like blacklists. That's what i meant by illegal bitcoin (lower case b).
1723  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: May 02, 2015, 04:06:22 AM
I see a very significant chance that XMR will end up complementing rather than replacing XBT, especially since it is way simpler to set up a crypto-currency to crypto-currency exchange than a crypto-currency to fiat exchange.

The only problem here is that if there is that you are looking at it only from the perspective of the spender. To him yes this is a perfect solution. But to the retailer who is being paid in bitcoin, he will be terrified of the prospect of being unwittingly paid in "illegal" bitcoin. As such it makes a great deal of sense for him to want to cut out the middleman of bitcoin and be paid in xmr, which he can then convert to btc himself through shapeshift.io or similar service he trusts more than random customers. But if you think through the logic of that, if other retailers are thinking the same thing he is, than why even convert it into bitcoin? Anywhere he wants to spend it would rather just be paid in xmr.

Take it for what you will, I have an order for 42 BTC at .00165BTC/XMR.

who the hell are you people with this kind of money to play with in cryptoworkd? Blows my mind the $$ that gets thrown around here.

There are those of us who bought XBT when it was between 2 USD and 10 USD and have realized and unrealized profits that can be used to purchase XMR.

Edit: With this also comes the experience of not selling to early, not trying to sell low in order to buy lower, and learning to have some patience.  Wink

forget my comment about making a couple of good calls. at $2 bitcoin you only have to make one good call.

you just have to make a couple of good calls. for me personally i made 4 good calls. i made a good call on when to buy btc, when to sell btc, when to buy nxt when to sell nxt. i don't have quite the money that vokain does but if it goes that low ill probably still drop 20btc or so myself. if xmr moonshots for you like btc did for me than you will have this same question asked of you someday Smiley

I really feel for this community in the same ways I do for the human beans that help build Ubuntu, etc.

Thank you (again) Smiley
After reading this post, I stumbled upon a French text (English version) which blew my mind regarding how great ubuntu (the philosophical notion) is.

Even more interesting is that this intuitively positive impulse has lead Africa to no where. Where as the spirit of competition that we see in the west, which is intuatively less desirable than ubuntu, has lead to the creation of astounding wealth and prosperity. Sometimes life is so much more complex and unexpected than our intuitions would lead us to suspect.

For example just now they made a new poll that I saw Smooth post on then delete it once I did

You're lying. I never posted on that thread. In fact I wasn't even online and hadn't seen it.

"post on then delete" = lame made up shit from BlockaFett, as usual.

He's goading you into reacting to make you look bad, Smooth. My suggestion at this point would be to ignore him, put it behind you and focus energy on more productive outlets. I doubt he has one worthwhile post in his entire account history. Not worth your time or energy. Trolls gonna troll. Best way to fight them is to not feed them. Let them starve and shrivel into insignificance.

Identifying out when someone blatantly lies about me is not making me look bad.  If you think it does, you need to get your eyes checked. It is BlockaFett who looks like he has a serious problem with making shit up, which he does.

Smooth this is a strawman. Read his post carefully. No where does he say that you made yourself look bad by identifying blockafett's deception. If what you say is true, and i have no reason to doubt it, than this is the final verdict. Blockafett is demonstrably a troll. Just disengage.

I try not to ignore people because I really don't want to be like the ostriches in the dark thread. I want to read criticism of my positions and beliefs. Its important to be open to criticism. And I know how frustrating it can be to go into a thread and speak critically but from the heart and be accused of being a troll simply because you are being critical. But i have put up with reading this guys nonsense for long enough and I'm just sick of reading it. Obvious troll is obvious. Its hard to make it on my ignore list but blockafett has now managed it.
1729  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin on: April 30, 2015, 02:31:18 AM
PURCHASE ON AMAZON.COM WITH NXT: ShapeShift.io‬ has partnered with Purse.io, a service that matches customers wishing to purchase ‪bitcoin‬ with bitcoin holders wanting to purchase items with retail giant Amazon.com. You can now make your purchases with Nxt: http://bit.ly/1JTnSdP

So let me get this straight. I can take my amazon gift cards and buy bitcoindark or nxt with them using purse?

Is that correct?

you would just have to do it manually. use purse.io to get bitcoins then take those bitcoins and feed them through shapeshift.io to change them into nxt or bitcoindark.

To all the people leaving, I have to wonder, why were you here to begin with?

I'm here because I am in need a means of sending value over long distances quickly, cheaply, and privately as well as a means of storing value privately. Maybe i will leave monero when some better alternative exists for accomplishing these same ends but until such an alternative exists i will continue to need monero. Just as a person who has nails sticking up needs a hammer.

So the question: What I just described is what this project represents, and you sold. So did you used to need that value proposition but dont any longer? Or some other project you have discovered has a similar value proposition? Or does monero no longer represent that value proposition to you? Or did you never need it and just wanted to make a quick buck by gambling?

I can explain that somewhat. These coins have almost no current utility so everyone buying them is doing one of two things: 1. Long term speculation on future utility, 2. Short term speculation on swings. Both tend to be trend-followers, though the latter more so.

When we came up from 0.0009 to about 0.0015 or 0.002, it was quite striking how many new people started posting their interest and support both here and on the main thread. I think I made comment at the time that those were likely to be fair-weather friends, and I don't mean that as an insult, just an observation about time horizon and attention span. Those same folks are likely off getting interested in whatever is hot right now. When we start an uptrend again, they'll back, or others like them.

I guess. Its just sort of strange to me. I guess im speculating on future utility if you want to be technical about it but I need something like monero because the chances are very good that i will need something like monero in the future.

If I ever actually manage to become wealthy I will be so fucked. The government will take so much of it. They take a lot now but its not just about how much they take now its about the trend. If the trend holds, people justify it now, but it will be almost incontrovertibly criminal in the future if the trend holds and we have to prepare for the future. Monero offers some amount of protection from this. What else does? People should be clamoring to this project just for self defense reasons.

I dont mean to say monero specifically, just something that offers the same value proposition. It could be zerocoin or some other cryptonote or something no one has imagined. But right now monero is the frontrunner.
1733  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: April 29, 2015, 12:10:09 AM
Not really implying anything by this. The smash down below 0.002 has made me permanently cynical i think. But i just wanted to point out that the chart is now forming a reverse head and shoulders pattern. You decide if that means anything.
1734  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: April 28, 2015, 06:19:50 PM
I don't say that you are a scammer but it looks suspicious that you call people scammers who want to help others not to lose money.
I am helping the community here not to take a falling knife.

well ive got to hand it to you. you were right. there is little resistance between here and oblivion. that 0.002 wall was all that stood between the invaders and the inner keep. 0.002 was our last stand. anyway im not selling at these prices. it can go to 0 if it likes. ill just go to hell with it.

Lots of drama here. So what were the predictions? TL;DR

monero bears say its going down. monero bulls are skeptical. its all so riveting, really a shame you didn't read it all.

whats IRC?

Internet Relay Chat ... something people very much used in the late 90īs and still is in use today.... some may remember the famous QuakeNet from their youth gaming times ( if you are in your 25-40īs Cheesy )

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_Relay_Chat

In addition, to join the Monero irc channel, just use this link -> https://webchat.freenode.net/, set the channel to #monero and you should be good to go!

oh ok i get it i tried it, it looks so old though?

Is there any more modern chatrooms

Who needs more? It's such a nice clean interface and words are words.

But I think the cool kids are using jabber these days.

A lot of support up against a price that seems low with very little in the way of resistance. Support that is by definition real considering how close it is to the trading price. Bouncing off a fib retracement level (source risto). Don't want to get my hopes up too much since the big market order seller(s?) may not be done yet, but looking pretty good gentlemen. Promising indicators.

I think there is still good chances to go lower.
If the price will not move clearly above 0.003, the current mini rally is called "dead cat rally" which is only a temporal and the last breaths of the Goliath before falling in front of David's slingshot.

BTW, copngratulations on buying low... Now you have a nice chance to take the profits.  Grin There is some liquidity (not much though - even a middle size dumpster can eat all the liquidity).

Na im in it for the long haul, not to play. I may do well this one time but on the long term if i open that box it will bite me. I'm smart enough to know not to open that box. If it goes lower ill just buy more and take some profits at all time highs some day.

if that dip that just happened was the bottom than i LITERALLY caught the bottom. like that was my order that got filled at the bottom of the bottom. never had anything like that happen to me before. pretty cool... if it's really the bottom.
