1721  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Best GPU's to mine ZCASH with? on: October 17, 2017, 02:30:53 PM

Really cus my G1 does 500+ easy. Im pretty sure if you get your hands on a good 1070 it could come close to a 1080 maybe within 5%.
Mind you electricity for me is free though but I dont want to invest a lot (wont be buying the Vega cards anytime soon).
I'd stick with 1080Ti or 1070 and forget about the 1080.

I have never seen a 1070 that managed more than about 460 - SPECIFICALLY INCLUDING my Gigabyte G1 cards.

You apparently have one that handles a lot higher overclocks better than most do, or you're looking at the "momentary peaks" and counting those as the hashrate where I tend to look at the AVERAGE hashrate instead, or you're in a VERY COLD ambient temp with your cards - or a combination of all 3.

Even with minimal tuning and having "fairly high ambient temp cooling" limitations, most of my 1080 cards easily hit 530 and I suspect when I take the time to fine-tune them they will be able to push closer to 550 - and NONE of those are "high end" 1080 models, most are the Zotac Mini or the bottom-end Gigabyte 2-fan models which are definitely heat limited in my environment.

On the other hand, with 1070 pricing getting back down into the pre-gouge range, the 1070 is starting to look like a better option even at the system level to the 1080 in many respects - and the recent climb in 1080ti pricing isn't helping any.

Completely agree on the 1070s being the best bang for buck currently
https://goo.gl/7s7Kb6
I've ordered a couple of these well . . because I like the white xD but the zotac mini and now a couple other cards have come down as well to the 400 price which is pretty nice to see.

1080 TI are still stupid priced and it's really deterring my interest in them, looking forward to when they come back down to reality // the 1060s are a good price now as well

What are your preferred settings for getting max performance out of your cards? You probably tune them down a bit like me due to heat issues?

Also does anyone know what the ideal ambient temp is for operating GPUs?
1722  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Best PSU for Mining Rigs? Is a Server Power Supply better than an ATX PSU? on: October 17, 2017, 02:06:15 PM
Hey guys what are everyones thoughts on when to use a ATX / a server PSU -- also are you using a server PSU and picopsu setup or a baby atx to run the necessary hardware?

I just made a video on my current overview but I'm always interested in discussion --- also does anyone know if the IBM 2880w has a platinum option?

Nice setup and videos. Really like seeing what other people have going on in the "home" miner sections.

When I was in Nevada my all-in elec was around the $0.115, so pretty high. As the guy above said, Washington has pretty dang cheap power.
Thanks brother! Honestly this thread has got me thinking about moving out there over the next couple years haha xD
1724  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: $800 Electric Bill . . + My Current GPU Mining Profitability on: October 17, 2017, 01:46:38 PM
Renvu (large solar supplier in CA) is running a free shipping special this week, so I broke down and ordered 48 280W panels and the needed ground mount hardware to do another 2 x 24 panel arrays.  This will boost my production by another 13.44Kw.  Cheesy

These are the panels I got:

https://www.renvu.com/Solar-Products/Mono-Poly-Crystalline-Solar-Modules/AXITEC-AXIBlackPremium-280W-ALL-BLACK-Mono

That should bring my cost per kWh back down close to $ 0.00 per kWh, at least until I add a bunch more rigs.
ugh, I'm so jealous of your setup that makes it . . even more awesome xD

Honestly its clearly deserved though as the amount of work you put in is insane

When you're looking at solar array pieces, what is the ideal $ for power formula? so roughly what you just ordered is 200x48 output = 13.44 kw ?

Thanx for your review but there someone collects all the blocks. A woodpecker with megasol comes  Angry
Yeah this address is one of the issues, it's very frustrating, I imagine without this user this pool would potentially be the most profitable?

Hey guys I've been searching for the best multi-coin wallet, I tried Jaxx first and was ultimately left pretty disappointed I found Exodus and they have added a ton of coins since I began using their wallet which is awesome, I see Coinomi but wonder why they still haven't made a PC version?
Here's my take on the EXODUS wallet and interested in everyones feedback on the best wallet(s) in this class?

Very nice build. You can do like I would with a computer build and use some black zip ties and in some cases wire sleeves.  Its possible to make it look very clean and with much less wire clutter.    Smiley
Agreed lol, I spent some time zip tieing / moving things around today, will post a pic in a bit its . . .a little better lol xD
1728  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain Antminer APW3++ Power Supply Review on: October 13, 2017, 03:50:11 AM
No one should ever ever ever ever ever ever buy that psu unless they live in China.

For you to review it is fine.

But I would ask you to compare it to the delta from parallel miner.

The one from them is 129 ships USA to USA you can buy it with paypal.

It does 2400 watts

While the bitmain does less.

Btw coins jumped again over 5800

xD Phil I compare it to the parallel miner psu's in the video haha
I think they put out awesome products and have had great customer support with me to the point where I asked about becoming an affiliate and fortunately was approved http://www.parallelminer.com/?wpam_id=27 if you ever want to use my link Cheesy

I don't recommend them because I'm an affiliate though, I recommend them because they're better PSU's with more uses and a better value
1729  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Bitmain Antminer APW3++ Power Supply Review on: October 13, 2017, 03:40:26 AM
Put together a video review on the Bitmain Antminer APW3++ Power Supply - is this the best power supply option out there or are there more cost effective alternatives that also do not support the monopoly that is Bitmain?

Hey guys just put together a quick video going over the aaawave 6 gpu mining rig frame, I always wonder about these "generic" style rig frames I see on various sites / ebay / amazon so I decided to put together a video on this frame so its not just a generic stock picture of bare frame or non functional pieces in place just for a picture

PS. .  taking tips on wire management xD
1731  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain looks like they're releasing a 15GH/s DASH miner called the AntMiner D3 on: October 11, 2017, 09:44:47 PM
Does anyone have problem when some miners losing 3rd board and hashing 10-11 Ghs? This happens on many D3 miners, not just on one.
Miners works on default settings, temperatures are good, max board temperatures are 65-70C. After I restart D3, all boards working normally again for some time.
Is there some firmware upgrade for this problem, anyone have solution for this?
D3 is not stable miner at all. L3+ is a lot better device.

It's always risky getting batch one items from Bitmain.  They don't have a stellar reputation for the first batch working the greatest.

M

I think the first earnings on the D3's more than compensated for that  Grin Cool
people who bought the oct batch would be right about on par w/ me as far as ROI goes if I still had mine. Only one who benefitted from that was bitmain / dash masternodes
1732  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 14 days of Mining with the Antminer D3 and x11 mining pool comparison on: October 11, 2017, 05:02:39 PM
i dont think so.  I'd just buy these man.  These are high cfm and solid build.
I’ll definitely check them out, see if I can get one in place of where my other 3 are
1733  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: TREZOR Initial Setup - Possibly the best Bitcoin / BTC + altcoin wallet ? on: October 11, 2017, 09:40:27 AM
Awesome! Just ordered my Trezor a few days ago. Hopefully this video will help me set it up correctly. I think this is what bitcoin lacks is clear and precise documentation for the every day users.
Congrats that's sweet and thanks brother Cheesy if you don't mind giving it a thumbs up and/or a comment would appreciate it as engagement helps the rankings with the video which in turn gets it to more everyday users

I'm glad you enjoyed it, as a basics setup and use video is there anything you feel I left out/should have or could have added?
1734  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / TREZOR Initial Setup - Possibly the best Bitcoin / BTC + altcoin wallet ? on: October 11, 2017, 09:36:18 AM
Put together a video on the initial setup and use of the basic functions on a TREZOR hardware wallet, will put together a review on this cool piece of tech from SatoshiLabs (I dig the name xD) asap

Has anyone been able to bog the trezor device down with extended mining payouts?

So, is your girlfriend mining on another pool ? Which one ? How are earnings ?
Personally I / we are worried about the rising diff so unfortunately we decided to sell the D3's - I think the outlook is grim O_O

Buy these bro:  BEST bang for the buck as far as ventilation is concerned

Sale right now I bought 4 more for backups.  I have 3 houses with 3 in each for massive airflow =)
You think that I could swap the actual fan component with this fan?
https://www.lowes.com/pd/Air-Vent-1-500-CFM-Black-Galvanized-Steel-Electric-Power-Roof-Vent/3126703

I've had freaking 2 of these die on me, almost one failure per month, I've made a couple adjustments on the first one that went down so hopefully that will solve that issue . .

1738  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: $800 Electric Bill . . + My Current GPU Mining Profitability on: October 10, 2017, 02:33:27 PM
Ouch! That's some hefty price tag you got there buddy. Better move your mining somewhere else with cheaper power. Do you even RoI with that? I'm thinking that most of the stuff you mine goes out to pay back that electric bill.

That is not how things are, moving means renting, renting means money, what he pays right now is not mind blogging, now think about moving, paying less on electricity and paying the rent which is around $1000, his roi will be much much worse than now, now if he has a huge blood farm with megawatts that the less electricity he pays outstrip by a lot the rent price then yes is viable but then again there are others issues about moving to another place.

Yeah! I have this debate with a couple of my local mining buddies, in this area and esp. theirs (northern va) you have to have a pretty serious farm to warrant the offset. Rent is ridiculous around them and quite honestly I think around me too.

Also for those that do move into a commercial space to rent . . how do you make the modifications to dissipate the heat + upgraded electric? if you're left to foot that bill your ROI will be extended dramatically
1739  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: $800 Electric Bill . . + My Current GPU Mining Profitability on: October 10, 2017, 02:31:43 PM
You ever thought about contacting you power company and getting commercial rates? The reason I say this is because the residential rates for my power company Duke Electricity is about $0.13 kWh maybe a little more after
taxes and other fees. If I was a commercial customer with "Demand Rates" meaning I will use 24,000 kWh a year which is simple I believe that is 24 KW (a year not month) I would pay about $10 a KW plus a fee of plus a set fee of about $12 delivery fee. So if my math is right at $10 KW that is .0138 kWh plus the delivery fee of $12 this is much cheaper then my current residential rate and I live in what looks like a more expensive power rate area than you so you may have a better deal on a commercial rate.
Ironically the commercial rate from my electric company would be the same or possibly higher. .  lol theyre also proposing to raise both rates some so that's frustrating to say the least but ultimately I plan to grow enough to warrant an expansion into an area that will give me cheaper elec.

Love the vids man, I subscribed.. will try to remember to like and comment and all that extra stuff that increases earnings (I think)

Would love to see a vid of the outside of the shed and giving a full tour of everything.. Not sure if I want to make a shed as well or alter my barn, I live in a super hot climate so it's going to be tough anywhere I go. Currently in the house, using the home office. But it is unbearable to be in there.. dealing with the fan noise/heat.
If definitely does man and I also saw your comment so thanks for that ! That's high on my to-do list for you guys, again there's other members here with much much crazier setups than mine but mine is. .  functional I would say xD lol

Yeah I certainly understand that my garage used to be a stagnant baking 100 degrees when I was mining in it a few months ago, will get the shed series up asap!

@beepxbeep thanks Cheesy

@korriban thanks and really appreciate the sub!
