1781  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin leverage Trading on: October 12, 2018, 02:08:46 AM
The only time I've ever heard anyone trade over 50X leverage is when the person in question is purposefully gambling. There's so much risk in trading with anything over that amount that no sober and sensible person should ever consider seriously trading with such high leverage. There's a reason why people usually don't trade with leverage at all, or with a very little amount. I personally never trade with leverage, though if you'd like to experience it for yourself, it's always possible to try to deposit a small amount of crypto and trade with leverage on an exchange that supports it to get a feel for why it's so risky.
1782  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Can You Make Money Mining Cryptocurrency At Home? Res. Elec. Rates Kill Profits! on: October 12, 2018, 12:55:32 AM
I too expected mining revenue to decrease this year due to decreasing crypto prices and continually rising difficulty, but I never expected profitability to drop as low as it now either. I like your video so far, I'm still going through it but I like how you go into detail with math and your actual electric bill when discussing profitability. A lot of people don't realize that they potentially have added fees some utility companies charge on top of your basic electrical rate.

At least winter's coming soon at the least, temps are already going down where I live to the mid 50s. I don't have nearly as many machines ASICs and GPU rigs due to decreased profitability as I did the same time last year, but I'll still be able to use the remaining rigs I have left to heat my house. Hopefully profitability doesn't continue to drop more when the winter comes.
1783  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Best bitcoin poker in 2018? on: October 12, 2018, 12:23:22 AM
I've tried playing poker on Nitrogen Sports in the past, and it was a decent experience overall, though I don't play poker often. I occasionally use Nitrogensports for betting on eSports matches, and the consensus here is that Nitrogensports is a reputable site. Click here for a link to Nitrogen Sports' poker page. Nitrogensports has events, but they seem to be only for sports betting.

FortuneJack also offers some poker games in both the Live Gambling section and the Casino section (search the term 'poker' next to 'filter'). I haven't tried their live section yet, as I've never been one for live gambling, but FortuneJack's been around for a while, has a good reputation, and hosts events regularly.
1784  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: coinhouse.eu / any new info? on: October 12, 2018, 12:12:22 AM
Seems like nothing's happened recently like Potato Chips has mentioned. Nothing new on their Twitter account, nothing on this ANN thread for them. More news could come up about the exchange at any time, but there's been no news about the exchange as of late. I tried searching in the last few months for coinhouse on Google, but there's really been no news on them.

I'd suggest you continue trading in the future on a more established exchange, even if you need to verify yourself. This is just one of the many things that can happen when you're using any exchange, but risks are far greater on more obscure exchanges like coinhouse.
1785  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: BEWARE MAYBE SCAM MINER IS BACK! on: October 11, 2018, 11:32:14 PM
It really isn't worth using anything that's not established at all IMO, especially 'no-devfee' versions of well-known miners. Even reputable miners can potentially be compromised if you don't download the miner from somewhere like this site; downloading from other locations may potentially result in you getting viruses and RATs (remote access trojans) on your computer. I'd take the fee route over a new miner that I can't really trust any day.
1786  Economy / Gambling / Re: Stockr.co - Bet on hourly and daily candle changes! on: October 11, 2018, 10:15:50 PM
I think the site that BitCoinDream was referencing was secondstrade.com, which closed down sometime in 2017 due to an apparent database hack that emptied the site of most of their funds. The Secondstrade account was also purportedly hacked and is now negged. I'm still not completely sure what happened in that whole situation and whether or not it was a deliberate scheme to run away with user funds.

Interesting game. I've always liked binary options, but the 69% rate definitely turns me away when there are other sites with higher rates out there. I may still check out the site, though. Do you have any idea what your maximum bet will become after the low maximum bet is removed?
1787  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: %100 investment on: October 11, 2018, 09:46:39 PM
There's risk in any investment, though there are ways to minimize risk where it is present. Any site or investment that promises you your money back and more is always going to be a scam, as there's no way that a return can be guaranteed. Buying and holding crypto's a viable investment as mjglqw mentioned, as is mining (if you have cheap electrical rates, under $0.08/kWh ideally), but keep in mind these investments are quite risky, as there's lots of volatility in crypto, and machines become more efficient, coins sometimes fork to avoid ASICs, and difficulty is nearly always rising in mining.

The most solid advice I can give to you is to not invest more than you can afford to lose. As long as you follow this you'll keep your losses to a minimum.
1788  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Reason why crypto market bull run on: October 11, 2018, 09:38:46 PM
Yep, news in crypto is definitely the biggest catalyst in crypto for price movements. There's plenty of examples of bullish or bearish news affecting coin prices in extreme ways, with some coins like Bitconnect going from a few hundred dollars to sub-$50 in under an hour being a relatively well-used example. A lot of people flock to one news source for crypto information, so one upvoted post on Reddit can cause massive price movements; because of this, crypto trading's both similar and different than traditional trading, with one difference being higher volatility.
1789  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Few Trusted Escrow Provider on: October 11, 2018, 09:27:36 PM
I also wasn't aware a site like bpip.org existed, seems like a good database of users on this forum. Pretty interesting to browse through profiles and ratings on the forum, they don't mean much in the grand scheme of things but I like seeing things like this. It's a shame they don't have a FAQ on how things like most recognized are ranked.
It's a bit off-topic, but you can find more information about recognition on Bitcointalk here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4799468.0
Shorty, it's combination of trust, activity and merit.
Thanks for the explanation! I don't think it's too off-topic, honestly, it's a part of the chart that the OP has created and there's not really an explanation here about bpip here anywhere, nor the recognization system. Also wasn't aware that Vod created BPIP; for anyone reading this thread that wants some more information on BPIP, there's a thread on the topic here. Seems like a lot more info is interspersed throughout this forum, but I managed to find this main ANN thread.
1790  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: AMD RX 670 | RX 680 12nm Speculations on: October 11, 2018, 09:13:17 PM
From the reports so far, the 6xx series will be no more powerful than the 5 series cards, so dont expect any big hashrate increases. id say 10-15% gains are optimistic.

Yes, agreed. 15% should be on the high end, looks like 10% is more realistic. That's why also the RX580 will get a 10% price drop at the end of this month.

Is the RX 570/580 even in production anymore? I think the production ended months ago because the prices never really went down from over MSRP.

I think some stores have been increasing their prices to reduce their sales but increase their revenue and they were just hoarding them for the last few months, basically betting on another crypto rush and where they can get away with selling them for +50% MSRP.
I'm pretty sure the cards are now out of production or towards the end of the production process now with prices going as low as they are now secondhand and even new, and there doesn't seem to be another crypto mining rush on the horizon with the way crypto markets and the mining atmosphere is currently; I can't see AMD continuing to manufacture them anymore. Seems most stores are now lowering prices as demand lowers and revenue is going downwards too. The next price cuts likely won't be too big, but it's an interesting time for gamers and miners alike. GPUs haven't been at such a good price-to-performance ratio in quite some time.
1791  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Few Trusted Escrow Provider on: October 11, 2018, 09:00:54 PM
Nice that someone decided to recompile a list of escrow providers; the one I used to link everyone is now rather outdated, and there hasn't been another one since that one that has been of decent size. I also suggest that you regularly browse the forum to see whether or not certain members have become less reputable, or if disputes are happening between users; there's not much use to a escrow list if it isn't regularly updated. Still, good work!

As for certain members like philipma1957 no longer providing escrow services, I would suggest messaging such users to determine if your item or service can be escrowed. At the end of the day, it takes seconds to read a message and it really can't hurt unless the user in question doesn't have a thread or anything on the forums stating their minimums and restrictions (like phil). I recall escrowing some items with Phil, and he stated the minimums he would escrow about a year back, but things change.
1792  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: CryptoExchang.com on: October 11, 2018, 08:50:51 PM
Thanks for posting the other sites that are also operated by the former owner of the CryptoExchang scam site. They all seem relatively crudely made, and most people with common sense wouldn't risk sending their money to such a poorly made website, but it's always nice to spread the news.

This has already been mentioned, but I'd like to reiterate this: someone speaking for the exchange, such as on the CryptoExchang site, doesn't mean much for the credibility of the site. What does matter is reputation, and make sure you're going on a reputable site that is confirmed to not be a scam. Most reputable sites have threads on this forum, and doing a Google search usually yields results.
1793  Other / Meta / Re: Selling of merits and btctalk accounts on: October 10, 2018, 08:08:23 PM
DT tagging of accounts seems good enough to me for now, considering doing this effectively nulls the ability of an affected account to be used in a signature campaign for monetary gain. I don't think anyone believes that merit is not flawed, but it's mostly working for now, with a number of people keeping a close eye on merit transfer to ensure that the sales of merit on this forum are kept to a minimum. The consensus is that you can do whatever you want with your merit unless you're selling it.
1794  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: AMD RX 670 | RX 680 12nm Speculations on: October 10, 2018, 07:59:25 PM
If they lock it for Bios editing they will lose a lot of customers, the miners. And since the miners are the majority of customers of AMD, they were never good enough to fight Nvidia in gaming , it can be a suicide move for them so I don't think they will lock the Bios editing feature found in the Polaris 20 cards.
...

It is tempting to go over to the green-green side  Undecided

There will be ways to go around a BIOS lock. People will consider hacking through locks if the risk of voiding your warranty/RMA (some have already enforced it) is nothing compared to the benefits you will reap. But like hell that’s gonna happen. If it’s locked, it stays locked, for majority at least.
I agree. It may be some time until a tool's developed to easily mod the cards to make them bios moddable, but it'll likely happen eventually even if the BIOs is locked. It'll be interesting to see the methods employed to lock the BIOS if AMD chooses to go through with locking the cards.

It'll also be interesting to see what the pricing for last-generation 500- and 400- series cards goes down to after the launch of the 600 cards. The last gen cards are already extremely cheap, with prices falling below $90 in some places, which aren't too bad of a choice if you have cheap enough electrical rates.
1795  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Popular Betting Strategies on: October 10, 2018, 07:55:29 PM
The page you linked is extremely difficult for me to browse from a desktop at 100% zoom- the text font is tiny and all the same color, and I have to scan through all this. It's accessible, but not very neat. The page overall seems like something out of 2008 or something of the sort, too.

I like that the flaws of the Martingale method are linked on the site. There's been lots of discussion here and elsewhere about the method, and although the consensus is that the method really doesn't work at all, there are always people that ignore advice- nice to see that you pointed out the flaws of the method with math to make it clear that it doesn't really work.
1796  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: This is SCAM: [COINBASE] Investments - Earn 350% profit mining with us. on: October 10, 2018, 01:39:13 AM
haveibeenpwned was one of the first and is the most reputable checker to see if your email has been breached, and I've actually used it quite a bit in the past to find out that several of my emails have been compromised due to various sites suffering data breaches and other technical difficulties. For this reason, I usually sign up to sites on a Gmail account that I have made only for signups, and I keep other more important information on another email. Works for me.
1797  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Using ASIC MINER for MONERO on: October 10, 2018, 12:52:01 AM
It is a known thing this one, that Bitmain only cares about their finances and that is why I like developers like the ones who have developed Monero, they care about decentralisation while Bitmain doesn't and that is a fact.

I think Bitmain has quit going after Monero after they changed their algorithm once, they can do again , so I doubt Bitmain will have time to lose chasing the new cryptonight algorithm.
They definitely won't be going after XMR again. XMR's changed their algo already, people have seen it, and there's not going to be a lot of people willing to take the risk of trying to mine XMR with ASICs again when the response will probably just be another algorithm change to flush out the ASICs on the network. Bitmain's likely going for other algorithms now or improving on current miner designs to increase efficiency.
1798  Economy / Gambling / Re: Coingambling.io - A Bitcoin Gambling Review Site and Directory on: October 10, 2018, 12:37:14 AM
The site seems interesting at a glance, but it's also a bit annoying to navigate on mobile- when I click on the top left slider menu to see tabs like reviews, sports betting, etc, the theme is transparent grey instead of a solid, opaque color like black that makes things a bit difficult to read. I can't find an easy way to screenshot this, but I find this makes it a bit difficult to browse the site on a mobile device. Everything seems decent browsing the site from my desktop though, nothing too special or lacking.
1799  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Trusted Vendors? on: October 10, 2018, 12:28:15 AM
Blokforge is one site I know of that is legit- they are an official reseller for Canaan Avalon miners and also resell other gear, and IIRC they ship from the US, so you won't have to deal with tariffs and such. Their shipping, at least in the US, is well-priced (about $25 for an Avalon 841 to me), and most of their gear is reasonably priced as well. Seems like they've been adding gear to their shop in the past few months too, I haven't checked in to the site in a while but it looks like they have been adding other gear for sale on their store recently.
1800  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BTConline on: October 10, 2018, 12:09:20 AM
If the deposit bonus was just flat out 0.0003BTC, then I could see it being a legitimate site, but 0.0003BTC per day is getting into suspicious territory. The real time payments page also isn't too relevant, as there are lots of similar ponzi sites with the same widget built in, and none of them are legit. It seems such widgets just pull random info from blockchain and add it onto the site.

The referral program is also very suspicious with the rates going up to 40% with 'upgrades'. There's no way a site can be sustainable with such a high-percentage referral system.
