Update

We also tested it on the USB-hub. Seven in a row run over a whole night and are all very stable.
image snip

Would they fit with the heatsinks attached?  It looks like there might be a problem there.
wait - so, if they'll run without the heatsinks, why did you make/order heatsinks that we now have to pay for?
The heatsink costs $0.1 or so and mitigates the temperature from the hashing IC. The IC works fine on high temperature but it may hurt the fingers if accidentally touched at its back.
1842  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner Block Erupter USB group buy (US/Canada) on: May 06, 2013, 09:25:05 PM
I just want to make sure the math is right:

Minimum Order 300 units @ 1.99/unit = 597 btc to factory

2% escrow fee to John K on 597 btc = 608.94 btc total needed for a shipment

297 units required to ship (not counting 3 for OP organizing fee)

608.94 / 297 = 2.0503030303... each

.05/unit shipping (that's shipping to our door, not from factory; factory shipping is free).

2.0503030303 + .05 = 2.100303030303

Right?

What's the extra .001 for?

Also, this is a minimum purchase of 300.  Does that mean if we get more demand we can go over 300?  Are we cutting off at exactly 300?

we will gladly order more then 300 if we get that many.

and your math is different cause you didn't include the shipping inthe amount john gets a fee on. so it's (1.99 x 300) + (.05 x 297) = 611.85 + 2% = 624.087 / 300

err.... i think.

I am curious how the individual units in the bulk 300 order will be packaged.

as am i.

...well. alright then. i'll just... be over here. quietly. *feels dumb*

What could go wrong?

We could post our security plan on the internet, for instance.

For a small fee, I will write up a security plan.  I happen to have some contacts with folks who can implement the plan once it is agreed on.  Seal Team 6 would no longer be a concern.

so, cruise missles? high altitude bombs?

better idea: don't piss the big guns off unless you have equally sized guns.

You want security from that too?  Your bitcoin wallet is not big enough.  Better stay inside the US associated treaty networks and don't piss off them off.

Either that or go to to Iran/NK/??? and see if you like/trust their offer better.

not so much want. more like feel it's nessecary. defenses that hold off seal team 6 imply they're SENDING seal team 6. if they do so and they fail, then they'll send something else, that's all i'm saying.

better idea is to not give reason to send seal team 6 in the first place. a difficult thing, i know.

106 remaining to be sold - sorry.

Ouch - my eyes hurt while reading that block of text. A spreadsheet is dearly needed.  Cry

had one - just hadn't made it available. how's this ...for now?

1850  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [8500 GH/s] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + UserDiff; ASIC tested on: May 06, 2013, 03:02:29 PM
My thinking so far has been buy computer parts (since they are low risk and ebayable) and wait and see what comes to fruition in the real world.  This is just a hobby that pays a little for me at this point and I've got kids and wife to think about so I can't really blow loads of cash on such things.  More power to the guys the can Cheesy

5GH/s ASIC will eventually be unsellable.  You would still likely be able to easily sell video cards though.  I have my GTX680 up (replaced with Radeon) its got more attention then my last 10 auctions lol.

why sell something (second hand, that is) that costs less electricty to run then a lightbulb? at worst, just turn it off if the price doesn't justify running it.
1851  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner Block Erupter USB group buy (US/Canada) on: May 06, 2013, 02:34:41 PM
ok, i'm awake!

So the devices we will be receiving will be from "The Sapphire Batch"?

yep.

Also can we hold off payments until the sale thread goes up?

absolutely. no payment is expected at this time as it's pointless until the 300 is reached. and equally pointless until the purchase can actually be made. though it might take a couple days to get everyones payments.

john, OP updated.

1853  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: May 06, 2013, 05:21:16 AM
Y'all are being trolled  Grin

A rule-of-thumb:

- Blockchain transactions to your offline-generated wallets are real.
- Everything else is probably fake.
- The wall observer is a joke, since we make the walls. Others observe them.

A rule-of-thumb:

-Don't send bitcoins to anonymous user in hopes they send it back just to "prove" you have more coins than you sent.
-Don't make "bitcoin will never hit $X" statements, it makes you look foolish.
-Observing you is a joke lol

 Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

I am having a hard time determining if rpietila is misunderstood and is actually worth listening to, if he is trying real real hard to manipulate price, or is just really friggin weird?  Does this mean I am being trolled? Lol

personally i'm hoping for a combo of the last two. but the first is a possibility, i admit. a lot of what gets said here (by everyone) goes over my head a bit.

Arklon, though my name was added to the list on page 6, it appears I  am not on the latter list. I  think you should recount just to make sure you got the overall count correct.

i'm just sitting down to dinner, but afterwards i'll double check everything and make sure i got them all and correctly counted.
