10 friends go out every day for dinner. The bill would be SEK 1,000. The bill was divided in the same way that taxes are paid. The first four - (the poorest) pay nothing; - the 5th pays SEK 10 - the 6th pays SEK 30 - the 7th SEK 70 - the 8th SEK 120 - the 9th SEK 180 - The 10th person (the richest) pays SEK 590.
The ten friends ate dinner at the restaurant every day, happy with the deal. Until one day, when the owner of the restaurant gave them a discount. “You are such good customers. I give you SEK 200 off your dinners. ” Dinner for 10 people now costs SEK 800.

They still wanted to pay for the dinner the way taxes are paid in Sweden. The first four people were not affected. They were allowed to continue eating for free. But what would the other 6 do - those who paid? How would they divide the discount of SEK 200 so that everyone would get their share? They realized that SEK 200 divided by 6 would be SEK 33.33. But if they deducted it from each person's share, the 5th and 6th person would be paid to eat. The restaurant owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each person's bill proportionately. He calculated the amounts each person would pay:

The result was that the 5th person also got to eat for free - the 6th had to pay SEK 20 - the 7th paid SEK 50 - the 8th SEK 90 - the 9th SEK 120 - the 10th person paid SEK 520 instead of the previous SEK 590. Everyone got a lower price than before and now the first five could eat for free. Outside the restaurant, they began to compare what they had saved. "I only earned a tenth of the discount!", The 6th person began. He pointed to the 10th person, "… but he earned 70 kroner !!!" - "Exactly, I also only saved ten", said the 5th person. "It's unfair that he got seven times as much as I did!"
"It's true!" Shouted the 7th person. “Why should he get SEK 70 back when I only got SEK 20? The rich always gets the most! ”-“ Wait a minute ”, shouted the first four,“ We got nothing! This system exploits us poor! ”

The nine people scolded the 10th and called him a cold-hearted egoist, a capitalist pig, a bloodsucker who kicks those who lie down. The next night, the 10th person didn't come to dinner. The other nine said " how nice", sat down and ate. When the bill came, they discovered something. They couldn't pay it. SEK 520 was missing.

This is why I always pay an equal share of everything whenever I go to a strip joint.
Imagine relying on a rich friend and he doesn't turn up one night.
The horror.

WTF?!  They let you run a tab?  You must go to the poshest of peeler pubs.  I've never even seen the inside of a gentlemen's club that extended credit.  Best we can do is buy rounds and hope everyone stays for at least one each.

"Crypto Exchange Goes Dark: Near 400,000 Users Fear Possible $2B Fraud

Nearly 400,000 users of a Turkish cryptocurrency exchange, Thodex, have been left unable to access their accounts or withdraw money from the platform after it abruptly ceased operations Wednesday, Bloomberg reports."

https://www.businessinsider.co.za/thodex-massive-crypto-losses-ceo-missing-istanbul-crypto-exchange-2021-4

Most probably yet another exit scam (heard Cryptopia turned out to be an exit scam as well), but it's also possible the owner is in a Turkish prison right now having his testicles clapped by a monkey with cymbals.

Three things my grandfather told me:
1) Never buy meat from a truck
2) A Turkish prison is not a good place to be
3) HODL

Come on!  Your grandfather never said anything about meat trucks!  Tongue

I got the message in green lettering that I had successfully accelerated the tx but I didn't screen cap since I didn't think anyone else would bother trying to accelerate (my bad).  My intention was to have the $25 sent to a charity - if you would like to choose the charity, be my guest.
xhomerx10, I didn't really post the screenshot to be the one who gets the 25 dollar.
And as I already said, it doesn't matter who was the first one who submitted the transction.
I also prefer that money to go to charity.
If you doubt about this or you think I was trying to get that 25 dollar, see the following post please.

Posted this just to avoid misunderstanding.

I don't doubt you.  But now you've made me doubt what I saw on my screen so I'm going to try to accelerate some random transaction to see it again.

edit: Okay, thanks for the information - tried again on the hour and I saw the "verification succeeded"
pop-up in green text and that must be for the captcha but then nothing under the txid:
        efb18f7ed7e14729a94d708918b0ec5dab6222c89b909d3ad42ce5d449e62eb7
until I tried to submit a second time and then I see the "This transaction is being accelerated."
message.  Some random person just had a tx accelerated.
1928  Economy / Services / Re: Can someone mine my Bitcoin transaction on: April 23, 2021, 06:34:10 PM
...but I had already submitted it through ViaBTC.
If you accelerate a transaction on ViaBTC successfully, it doesn't show any message.
If you submit a transaction which has already been submitted it says "This transaction is being accelerated."

I submitted the transaction and it didn't show any message. Then I submitted the transaction again to get that message and post the screenshot here.
In the case, you got the message "This transaction is being accelerated" the first time you submitted the transaction, it means that someone else had submitted the transaction before.

It doesn't really matter who submitted the transaction first. What matters is that the transaction has been accelerated and it will likely confirmed in a few hours.
Posted this just to explain how ViaBTC free accelerator works.

No one here can mine your transaction. In order to confirm a transaction, you must have a big amount of hashrate and one here has that.
Only mining pools can pick a certain transaction.

I just submitted your transaction on ViaBTC free accelerator. It will likely confirmed in the next block they mine.  ViaBTC has about 8.5% of the total hashrate and they should mine one block in every 120 minutes on average.

...but I had already submitted it through ViaBTC.

Follow-up question on the capital gains tax: if stock markets drop because people are locking in current profits by selling stock, does that mean they have to pay taxes now? Which would mean the US government potentially gained billions of tax just because Biden made an announcement?

I'm still flabbergasted by the idea that Americans can choose when they want to pay their taxes.

Well, unflabbergast yourself because they can't.

I've successfully used the free service many times but if you're unlucky you can always pay ViaBTC using BCH to accelerate your BTC transaction.  You would have to sign up in order to do that which might not be desirable to some.

1935  Other / Politics & Society / Re: JOE BIDEN wants to DOUBLE your TAXES on BITCOIN gains! on: April 23, 2021, 12:43:17 AM
This is not a good way to grow the economy. The additional taxes will force investors to use a higher discount rate when making investment decisions. This will lead to less money being invested into businesses, including wages for employees.

This is not just for gains on bitcoin by the way, it is for all investment gains, long term and short term.

Seems like the Biden administration is buying into their own rhetoric.  The economy is obviously overheating and therefore ripe for the picking.

Biden: “The first two months of our administration, we’ve created more jobs than the first two months of any administration in American history.
1936  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: bitcoin unconfirmed 6 days - can't do CPFP says mempool too large. on: April 22, 2021, 09:37:48 PM
Use an transaction accelerator like ViaBTC.
Try to acceleratate it using ViaBTC.
Maybe you can use ViaBTC free acceleratator.
Awesome suggestions if you feel like looking at bunny rabbit puzzle captchas for hours on end--I've been trying to get a transaction accelerated on ViaBTC for two days and have had no luck whatsoever.  And believe me, I've tried more times than I could keep track of.

Not technical about it but how long before the mempool gaves up a transaction, like it was a failed one. Or it does?
I've heard people say that doesn't happen anymore, but IIRC I've had it happen to me once or twice a few years ago.  In any case, I don't have the answer to that; I'm just hoping the network takes a big dose of a decongestant and starts moving again.  It's such a pain in the ass to use bitcoin at times like this.

I just used it a couple of days back.  I had attached ~50 sat/byte fee (which was within 2 Megs from the top) but when I checked later on, that fee had increased to over 80 and my tx was still waiting in the pool.  I went to ViaBTC just before the hour and had my tx entered and ready to send on the hour.  No problems getting it through.  I only had to do one puzzle which was a single piece on the left which I had to slide to the right.  Then with my hands on my hips, I brought my knees in tight but it was the pelvic thrust that really drove me insane...

hey guys need a little help my bitcoin is unconfirmed for over 6 days now anything i can do to help? i tried using the child pays for parent function but all i get is error mem pool too large

Don't try to create two transactions that need to be confirmed at the same time when the mem pool is so large.  Use Replace By Fee instead.   Didn't enable it?  Use an transaction accelerator like ViaBTC.

1939  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 22, 2021, 08:17:11 PM
I take it the Biden lovers here still love him after threatening to double capital gains tax, right, because it's gonna go to a "good cause"?

https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/markets/biden-to-propose-capital-gains-tax-of-396-to-fund-education-and-child-care-reports-say/ar-BB1fWevE

Probably why your corn is worth a bit less at the moment.

I don't understand this.  Rather than pay a (yet to be proposed) higher capital gains tax, Americans would pull their money out of the markets right now and put it into what?  Is the plan to make no capital gains in the future?!

i couldn't believe what am seeing.. idk why am thinking this is happening to Africans alone as i believe if its happening to USA/UK etc am sure the internet would have been burn by now.. this is just so wonderful i have to pay $39.09 miner fee to send just $1 to a btc wallet ?

can someone please tell me whats going on ?

Many people want to transfer their bitcoin and the miners get to pick the transactions that get through - they generally select transactions with the higher fees.
If you only want to transfer $1 worth, you'll have to wait until the mempool is nearly empty - see April 10,11,12,13
You likely wont have to wait tooooo long.  If you don't like waiting, you can use the lightning network - https://99bitcoins.com/bitcoin/lightning-network/wallets/ (caution - some wallets are custodial - not your keys = not your coins)
