So,
What's going on?
The price is dropping! I don't really understand if it's a big dump or other.

What do you think?

I think I'm not going to watch the price hour by hour.

On the another note, Eduffield are you still planning to attend the New York conference?   Didn't quite get a clear picture on what your intention was due to some changes.

No, I was struggling to figure out how to do that with some family stuff that came up. Plus they downsized it to a couple hundred seats and it was really expensive to get there and the tickets are really expensive ($200) so I'm not sure how much impact it would have actually have had. I'd much rather speak at another conference, maybe one in Cali.

Since you won't be attending the convention you could do a video presentation explaining Darksend, put it on youtube and link/post it to other DarkCoin related sites.  Same content that you would have presented at the convention.

Or maybe a live online Q&A

I'll be speaking at the Cryptocurrency Convention on Apr 9th in NewYork, detailing how DarkSend works and promoting DarkCoin. If anyone will be in NewYork at that time I'd love to meet you!

*My details should be up on the site soon

THIS is the type of "marketing" this coin needs.

Edu, can you talk any about what type of testing (beyond this community doing some DS transactions) you are doing? It's been mentioned before to try to let some "white-hat" types take a hammer to it... anything like that? To me, i'd like some sort of 3rd party endorsement on the anonymous transactions.

There were a few people that came into the forums and said that it wasn't anonymous and could break it, I'll reach out to them and see if they're up for taking a look at it.

Hi Eduffield.   Check out what Heavycoin did.  You can check what they are doing with this coin.

This in my opinion is a very well thought out roll out.  We need to set up a bounty found ASAP and I'll donate the first 500 DRK to the fund to start with.  FYI I do not current own or have any holdings in HVC.

Thoughts?

They had a good marketing plan but failed to deliver on the actual coin.  HeavyCoins launch was a complete failure due to horrible developer support.  Take that same marketing with the excellent developer support that DarkCoin has and you have a winner for sure.  However, one issue would be the bounty's.  HeavyCoin was a huge premine so they had a very large quantity of coins to use for bounty's.  They also raised 170+ btc through an IPO which they can use for marketing as well.

You know, I regret making much of the criticism I made on this thread.  Many people invested in this coin and had optimism for it's success.  Hopefully it will be able to overcome the bad luck that has plagued it and the people that invested will not lose.

Anyway, good luck with this endeavor.

Are you serious?

No pools 12 hours after launch Huh Is this a joke ?

Of course not.   Just go back and read some of the posts praising the Dev.  It's not his fault.  These things happen.  People need to calm down.  Everything will be alright.  Especially if you just made 170+ btc
1948  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [HVC] Heavycoin - CPU-only, Ultra-secure, Decentralized Voting on: March 08, 2014, 09:07:31 PM
No I'm not kidding.

I see what you are saying...  but...  there are still many many millions of HVCs to be mined...  take a deep breath...  relax...  step away from your workstation for a while...  and make sure you have a clear head to choose wisely between pools when everything is ready.

Relax?  I'm laughing my ass off right now despite wasting hours of my time and a few dollars on cloud instances.  I have been following this coin waiting for the launch.  I had everything ready, preregistered at the pools, launched some instances, and then sat and waited for the damn miner like everyone else.  I'm just eating popcorn now watching the show while I point my miners at chaincoin because I have to mine something after wasting so much time.  And it's still CPU only, pools are working, and difficulty is low.

If the Dev wants to salvage this coin he should use some of that btc to pay someone to fix this mess.

1949  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [HVC] Heavycoin - CPU-only, Ultra-secure, Decentralized Voting on: March 08, 2014, 08:39:57 PM
Why are people selling now? That is the most idiotic thing to do, you're selling a coin that actually has innovation and security and will be worth at least 3x more in a week once everything settles

What's the innovation?  CPU only?  We'll see how long that lasts.

You're kidding me right? Great combination of Algos, Temporal Retargeting, Block voting, Devs that actually know their algorithms very well. For such huge demand and everyone rushing to pools everyone would experience problems having an amazing launch.

No I'm not kidding.  With 170+ btc IPO and all the hype a person would think that the Dev's would have ensured that everything was working.  They had several weeks to get everything in order.  There is nothing innovative about launching a coin without working pools, wallets, or miners.  For $100K which is roughly what the Dev has made so far there is no excuse for this cluster fuck.

Innovative combination of algo's = drk
CPU only = pts, pmc, chn

All of these coins have working wallets, miners, and pools.

36 hours is nothing.  Why weren't these issues identified and corrected during the weeks leading up to the launch?  This is pathetic.

I was just stating what I know, keccak512 needs a bit of sleep -- now, everyone has the rights to judge as they believe.

Meanwhile you can rest assured there are many developers working on improving, fixing, testing and the like.

I do not like it either. Nobody likes delays and such.

I'm not judging based on what I believe.  I'm judging based on facts.  The fact is that I just wasted 7 hours of my time trying to mine this coin as did many other people.  What good was that stupid countdown calendar on the webpage if 7 hours after launch there are no working pools, people still waiting on their IPO's, fucked up wallets and miners, and the Dev decides to take a nap.

I might as well go down with the ship since half my day is wasted, I didn't have sex with my girl because I was wasting time with this and now she's gone to work.  Leaving me here to wait for the fucking pools to work.
1952  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [HVC] Heavycoin - CPU-only, Ultra-secure, Decentralized Voting on: March 08, 2014, 06:56:11 PM
Dev needed to sleep first ...

keccak512's been up for 36 hours, allow him some sleep.

I don't get why anyone who hasn't reciveed their IPO still silent?

These guys promised to send ur coins at launch and now they're not even responding to your posts

We've got quite a few (actually probably 100+ pending tasks), so expect them to be distributed over the new few days, as we catch up.

BitzMD, forgive them, you will get your coins soon. Procedure 1 investors have all got their coins and Proc. 2 should follow shortly.

36 hours is nothing.  Why weren't these issues identified and corrected during the weeks leading up to the launch?  This is pathetic.  I feel sorry for those out btc because the chances of them recovering their investment is slim to none.  You have one chance to make a first impression and this guy blew it.
1953  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [HVC] Heavycoin - CPU-only, Ultra-secure, Decentralized Voting on: March 08, 2014, 06:51:57 PM
As far as I can see no Stratum Code as been released now ?!?!

any pools???

We are pretty close with it, but better catch some rest first.

Dev needed to sleep first ...

For 170+ btc he should stay up for a week if that's what it takes.  What a joke.
1954  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [HVC] Heavycoin - CPU-only, Ultra-secure, Decentralized Voting on: March 08, 2014, 06:50:55 PM
Oh good grief!  I've wasted enough time on this nonsense.  Glad i didn't get burned in the IPO.  All I'm out is several hours of my time fortunately.
1955  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [HVC] Heavycoin - CPU-only, Ultra-secure, Decentralized Voting on: March 08, 2014, 05:57:51 PM
THis is a joke , after 7 hours the pools are not working.
Dev and friends are solo mining with big rigs till they are rich enoufh, then they will open pools , after that they will dump the coins.
Sadly..

Just STFU will you, I mean I can ignore you but really just shut your face you ignorant fuck. I hope you have downs or something because that is the only reason to act this way and I apologize then for picking on the retarded

You obviously invested in the IPO.  Now that the coin has turned out to be an epic failure your only recourse is to lash out at anyone calling this coin the joke/failure it is.
1956  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [HVC] Heavycoin - CPU-only, Ultra-secure, Decentralized Voting on: March 08, 2014, 05:23:00 PM

Catching some rest on that bed of money.

Did someone actually just get over $100K US for this cluster fuck?   And the Dev is going to take a nap while the coin crashes and burns.  Unbelievable.
1958  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [HVC] Heavycoin - CPU-only, Ultra-secure, Decentralized Voting on: March 08, 2014, 03:22:06 PM
179 btc and 3 Weeks to get everything ready.

This is nothing but a cluster fuck

Ok, I had to replace my DarkCoin folder in appdata, and that one didn't have the node, ugh, I'm so tired I can't think, LOL

I finally, FINALLY got darksend to work for me!!!  Yaaaay!

Sent from Windows 7, arrived in Ubuntu wallet all at once, since all three transactions were from me, LOL.  Not enough traffic to combine a pool, and I didn't want to wait ;p

Thank you shojayxt , I thought it was there, but with the switching things about, I lost it, LOL

Glad I could help.  I made several successful transactions using DarkSend between addresses.  The latest beta resolved the issues that were problematic for several users including myself.  There is still work to do but i have been very impressed by the responsiveness of the developer "eduffield" to address any issue brought to his attention.   Does this guy even sleep?
