I just have 1 question

?? ?? Huh

I also have a question.  Why did you need a fake Chinese boarding pass to go to a zoo in Belgium?  Huh

Remember when everything would close by 6 pm on Saturdays and not open again until Monday morning.  One of the towns I lived in also closed up all the shops at noon on Wednesdays (I never knew why).  Cashing a paycheck was difficult because the banks closed at 3 pm on Thursdays.

When I was a kid, all stores in Sweden except gas stations and kiosks closed at 6 pm on weekdays and 1 pm on Saturdays, Sundays everything was closed, except the aforementioned exceptions.
The law that regulated opening hours was scrapped in 1972 and today things are (if the owner so wishes) open 24/7.
It did take a while after -72 before stores started expanding their opening hours though, and it was common for basically everything to be closed on Sundays and during Easter in the 70s.
I remember Sundays when the whole society was of work at the same time, there was some kind of tranquility to that, although as a young man I didn't really appreciate that.

I think that still is the case in Germany.

  I miss that tranquility.

From the UK? Early closing Wednesday was shit. I remember the home improvement places fighting to be allowed to open on Sundays too.

Close - I spend my formative years in Canada.  I think the first "victory" for retailers (at least for my province) came in the early 90's and it was that stores in "tourist" areas were allowed to open on public holidays provided those municipalities/cities passed by-laws permitting such openings.

there are so many metrics to predict future development, what's wrong with this one?

the altcoin market looks to me a bit like bitcoin's lungs. you can really see them breathing in the charts. they act as a buffer and multiplactor at the same time.

this breathing we see there is the flow of capital. People trying to make profits through price movements. small self-reinforcing and self-referencing feedback loops can then lead to huge price explosions, because all the capital is attracted at the same time as if by a sigularity.

soon.

That's a great analogy!  I jut hope it's wearing a mask, socially distancing from other markets and ultimately getting a pseudo-vaccine.   It would be a shame if the altcoin market succumbed to SARS-CoV-2.

I remember reading a conspiracy about how things we remember from the past are no longer part of this timeline. I tried to look up that conspiracy but I can no longer find it. Did I remember something that was scrubbed? One of them was that nowhere in Forrest Gump does he say "life is like a box of chocolates". But we all remember that.

Wha ?

https://youtu.be/CJh59vZ8ccc?t=32

My daughter schooled me on that - he actually says, "My mama always said life was like a box of chocolates"  but with that really crappy attempt at a southern accent with a mouthful of chocolate to boot,  it's hard to hear it that way.  Without the benefit of watching it over and over, I wouldn't have been able to tell the difference.  I don't think this one qualifies as the imperfect memory of an event.

Happy Easter for all WObservers

Canadian police tried to shut down a POLISH church on Easter

Seems the Polish don't like obeying covid laws.

In case of not obeying covid laws I'm not sure only polish lead this movement. But as person who grow up there and still remember last years of communism I can assure you - I'm not going to obey ridiculous laws for purpose of some social experiment. I will rather keep details of anyone who is supporting this crime and wait for prosecution.
What inevitably will come in near future.

BTW: how many hours left before twitter will delete this video?

They can't delete it from my memory (yet).  Thanks for sharing!

Hello Gang.
I know how boring the meta post can be, but I was working on my meta post for the italian board, and I had an idea for the WO thread:

Here you can see the merit circle between the WO gang members for the last month:

Each arc thickness is proportional of the merits sent from each side to the other one.
IF you click on the below image you have an interactive version of the image!

Have fun!

Thanks to @bitmover for the idea!

OMG!!  Fuckin' tree of life right there!!

I took the extended graph from this article - https://medium.com/quantodian-publications/when-moon-rational-growth-ranges-for-bitcoin-ffaa94c9d484 (The author is https://twitter.com/InTheLoopBTC)
This post was from Sept 2019 so I added a couple of price points (the red vertical line indicates where the graph stopped previously) and connected the points (using straight lines not best fit).   I also connect some key dates and levels and added some log lines between $100k and $1mill to make it easier to visualize.   The purple star is the approximate theoretical max on a very theoretical date this cycle (I just used the previous cycle length) but we have exceeded the theoretical max previously as you can see.  So many caveats - I guess this is more art than science.  Just trying to help myself to visualize the hopium.  Go BITCOIN!

"ain't we got fun" immediately reminded me of the Little Friskies commercial from the mid 1970's - that damned TV is a powerful tool weapon.

Thank gawd I'd already almost freed myself from TV by the 1970s.

I was thinking more of the classic from the Roaring '20s a century ago.

Here's a more recent version:

Nice.  Hey!  That's George Clooney's mama!
I'm familiar with that song.  Several years back, I put together a 4 CD music compilation for a friend's grandmother's 80th birthday party.  The one song she wanted which proved very hard to get was Alice Blue Gown (1920).  I ended up getting a copy from a friend at work whose father collected and redistributed oldies from England.  I don't think it originated in England but I guess it was popular there.  I'm sure I put "Ain't we got fun" in that mix too.

Good morning Bitcoinland. Now that April NFTers' Day is officially behind us, we can get back to reality.

After a splendid month of March (soaring from $49k to $59k) we can look forward to continuing this amazing bull run by going for an unprecedented 7th consecutive green monthly candle.

For now, we're still going sideways in the $5xxxx range, albeit knocking on the $60k door... currently $59315USD/$74538CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

When we finally break through, watch out.

Go Bitcoin go.

If you are buying 600mm worth OTC what's 1% to keep the price "oracle" in line?

People are probably tired of me saying this, but I just can't see how this is not what is currently in play... and it is ridonkulously bullish once it stops working.

Indeed. I've been trying to remind people about this for years but there are still some who act as if online exchange prices are strictly the result of supply and demand with "whales" being equal participants.

Obviously since most high-level holders operate over-the-counter off-exchange, they can use online exchanges mainly to dump to keep nominal prices artificially low for buying offline.

Where do people think the "bear whales" keep coming up with the coins to crash (correct) the price down periodically? Not at online exchanges.

...and the rich get richer and the poor get poorer... ain't we got fun?

"ain't we got fun" immediately reminded me of the Little Friskies commercial from the mid 1970's - that damned TV is a powerful tool.

Hang on now.  Since Lauda left, can we be sure there is a woman on this forum?

Are you sure I'm not a woman?

Are you sure I'm not black?

Want to find out?

EDIT: Uhoh. Buy order @ $58.5k just got filled... Next order @ $58k
EDIT2: Oshit. Filled @ $58k. Next order @ $57.5k

Actually I have always suspected that. If you own a shitload of BTC and want to remain anonymous and keep high level of opsec you could pretend to be someone least similar to yourself, like a person of opposite sex, race, another age, nationality etc... so using this method we can easily find out Bawb is in fact a white woman, probably heterosexual, living in China or Russia? OMG!  Shocked
What about BitChick? She seemed fairly legit, Bit.Husband was less on board. She burned some BTC on missionary stuff, haven't seen her since.

She still posts on Twitter Reddit regularly.  She said something the other day about her thinking bitcoin to $300k and hubby thinking 150k.  She never pretended to be a power-topping, gay, black cowboy though did she?  Wink

edit:  All those social media platforms are the same to me.  Embarrassed

I think that the occasional women accounts that wander into the WO thread from time to time, get turned off by all the NSFW and silly bro/misogynist shit that gets posted here on the regular. As well as all the tech/politics/religion arguments *cough* debates.

Which is why any account that hangs out here over a long-ish period of time that claims to be a "female" is full of shit (news flash: they never were a woman, they were lying the whole time)

1994  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 02, 2021, 02:50:07 PM
wtf. I bought fNTF for 1000 bitcoin and they are all gone! such a scam.

My trading practices were so flawed and financially devastating that I'm glad it disappeared.  I should have read the instructions before wading in.

I got some extra spare time next week and I wouldn't mind having some extra spare funds since I don't wanna touch my crypto portfolio before it completely moons.

I've thought about dog walking. Any other ideas?

Just turn it into and NFT and DeFi it.  Sure-fire winner!

Hey @xhomerx10, I have just spent all my money (1500 BTC) in the pocket just to own your fNFT. It is definitely a lot of money. Is that enough to express my desire for you?  Kiss Kiss
I wonder if 1500 BTC is enough for you to design me a new hat? I am very grateful that you have designed me a nice hat  Kiss I can pay more if you need to, add 500 BTC?  Tongue

Thanks for buying my ƒNFT.  I hope it will be worth it in the long run!  No need for payments for a hat though - hats are free (restricted only by my 'free' time and available creative juice).  PM me with an idea of the design you would like.
